Hey, wasn't sure where to post this, but anyway....
I had a ST account with 2 AT&T sims on it. Before they AT&T dropped ST I kind of saw the writing on the wall with that 2GB limit, and since I tend to go over and the other person does too I just switched to T-Mobile.
I'm wondering if I can try and profit off this a little? Could I sell someone the rights to the account/sims? or better yet is there a way to remove the sims from the account, still have them work, and sell them stand alone?
NOTE: If you have a problem with my attempt to try and profit off still having two of these, I don't care, move along, thanks.
Are they used? If so, how old are they? I think straight talk sims "expire", so to speak, after being used... I think it's between 1-3 months...
Edit: OK upon further research, service cards expire a year from date of purchase but sims do not... Again, idk if it matters whether or not they were previously activated or not...
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
They are used. One was last used about 3-6 months ago. The other we just stopped using this past weekend. The numbers associated with them were ported off.
They stay in the account ready to be activated again. I think I'd have to sell the "account" with the 2 sims, change the password, and let them activate them how they want.

Please, tell me where you would have posted it.
I would say it doesn't really fit anywhere on XDA to be honest. But, a lot of Nexus users have experience with ST. Thanks for the complaint withotut any good suggestions by the way.

One thing is for certain you can't sell the sims and activate them on another account and I think they can only be reactivated using the number associated with them when you first activated them. When I first used StraightTalk I didn't port my number over and used one they assigned to me, when I finally wanted to port my number over they said I had to use a new sim as you couldn't change the number on the existing sim card, it was permanently associated with the first number assigned to it or so it was explained to me. I think the sim can only be written to once after that its read only so any account info on it can't be changed.

You can discus phone plans here no problem, there are plenty of them already and it has everything to do with the Nexus 4 as its carrier unlocked. And since it was a question it does belong in Q&A. You could have posted it in the other StraightTalk thread in the General Section but who really cares (except it seems one person).

Thanks for the response....
I think I'ma just abandon this idea. It's too complicated lol. I was trying to see if I could keep some ST AT&T sims in circulation and make a little coin on top, but with them activated already it doesn't make sense. Plus you can still get activation kits around $50 if you really want.

Like you originally said you would have to sell the account and I don't think that is allowed in the TOS. They might let you transfer it to a family member but that would be the extent of it. IMO It would be a huge pain in the butt to try and sell it as who really wants to go through that huge a hassle to try and save a couple bucks at best. And you would also have to give any buyer the phone number associated with the sim card which is the one you ported. I've got all kinds of used sims from carriers laying around too I just put them in a box to grow dust.
So this is more of a carrier question more than a related to my s4 question but I did an upgrade and just popped my old sim which was only a month old in and I know everything is fine always have did this. Well I got this text today about 3 weeks after I got my s4 so I never used the included new sim. But I've did this in the last and never got a text like this it. Any idea?

call 866-895-1099 its the automated activation line, it will activate the correct IMEI and SIM on your plan, activate any new features you selected(if applicable), add insurance to the device if you chose it at purchase. Otherwise everything is still incorrect based on your old phone. After the call your current sim will go dead, use the one that came with the phone.

What kind of answer is that!!!??? I'm not stupid, its not like I switched from a dumb phone to a smart phone...... and what features? Why would I change anything if I'm on the unlimated data plan? I change phones almost every 6 months or so and even with upgrades never got this message.

Well....he was just trying to help, and I thought it was a good answer...how are we supposed to know you have an unlimited plan? Or you didn't change anything...
Anyways...even if you did change something you wouldn't need to activate for the changes to occur...its pretty much so Att gets the imei and all that sorted out I believe...thy link the phone to your number on your account

Please don't get hostile, but it is a really, really good idea to properly activate your new phone through AT&T and also to take the new SIM card. But instead of the automated system like I used, I might recommend calling through to an agent/CSR.
I had concerns about my unlimited plan as well, and noticed that if I were to activate, it would likely remove the unlimited H+ plan in favor of a 3gig LTE plan. I called a couple different times about this, and they said that everything would be alright, and they noted the account that they told me this. Shortly after activating it, I noticed that it did indeed make the switch on me, and that I suddenly had a 3GB data limit on this line. I called back, and they said that this was necessary to be able to pre-order the device, and it was not giving them the option to put it back. They put in a ticket and gave a "it will be fixed by this date" date. About a day and a half later, I got a text saying they corrected the issue. I checked online, and my account was back to normal.
I'm 90% sure that if I had called to activate my phone manually with an agent, they could have spared the unlimited plan from the get-go. I would recommend calling and talking to an agent, such that they can mark the order as complete/received and they can enter the new IMEI and ICCID numbers.
Further, there's a small, non-credible amount of evidence that suggests that the newer SIM cards and a proper activation will yield better network speeds. I don't see how, apart from some sort of throttling implemented by AT&T for "everyone else".

While this is true, they don't automatically update their billing system and other records - or at least not right away. I work with about 110 AT&T lines at work, mixed between crackberries, "feature-phones" and iPhones. I've noticed that while a new phone will work, but the website will still show the old IMEI number until we manually update it.

You asked for help and you got it.
This is exactly what needs to get done.
There should have been a sheet of paper with instructions included stating to call that exact number above and follow the steps through the automated system. Most people completely ignore it out of the excitement of getting a new phone. I don't blame you.

So is it hurting anything that Im had to agree to my contract again??
obviously take this with a huge grain of salt, but just had a live chat with VZW rep to ask about the N6. I do this randomly just to see what kind of (non) answers I get.
However, this dude fired back with an exact date of February 26th. That date is on a Thursday, which is traditionally the day that Verizon launches new phones. Just struck me odd that he had such a specific answer, and went on to say that he had just recently been given the information.
Of course I've tried to live chat again three times since then, and each one of the reps said that they have no information about the N6 lol.
Take it for what it's worth.

I was also informed today and "assured" by a verizon rep (via chat) that they would be getting the Nexus 6 on February 26. They also said that the Samsung Note Edge would be coming out January 8th. I guess that will be the first test of this reps information.

Eh, i am not going to believe any rep. As far as this goes, i worked for Tmobile and ATT customer support and we where never really told anything ahead of time from everyone else. We where told to keep customers either happy or holding on with the company. It has been a few years ago from that though, so i dont know if that policy has changed. :good:

A poster on Reddit said he was told at a corporate store the same thing. The rep, after looking it up, said the computer was showing February 26th availability.
and i just asked and was told there is no scheduled release. thats pretty far ahead for a release date anyway.
i just asked two reps and i got nothing out of either one of them
I just want VoLTE already on my Nexus. No voice and data simultaneously is a bit annoying and per usual is probably because of Waiting for Verizon release their version.
Nexus 6 currently on Verizon Network
I recently bought the Nexus 6 and is currently running on the Verizon Network. Originally, the local Verizon dealer refused to add the Nexus 6 phone to the network since it was not a "Verizon Phone". My philosophy is, "Never let a multi multi multi billion dollar tech company tell what they cant do". By saying this, I called the Verizon Tier 2 support and they were able to activate the phone from their location bought using the same simcard number that was used from my Note 2 phone. Now, after two days, I was booted off the Verizon network and was told via message that I need to sign back on the Verizon network. After a few days corresponding with tier 2 tech support, the reason for the booting off the system was i was using a new "nano simcard" which resulted in a new simcard number. Originally, they recommended that i find someone with a new Motorola phone and activate my simcard through their phone ( long story) and then re-transfer back to the new simcard for the Nexus 6 to work but that greatly avoided. As a result, my Nexus 6 is currently working without any problems . Lastly, they will have to submit a "DMD Form" to "register" your non-Verizon phone. Hope this helps.

That sounds like too much work and a big hassle just to stay with a carrier. Its reminiscent of when I had Verizon a few year ago.
I wonder if VZW will try to lock down the Nexus and if Google will let them.

Yes, that simple. I am with VZW. I had a Galaxy S3 with a Micro SIM. I picked up a punch on Amazon (I didn't trust trying to use scissors but many people have success with them) ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FW70ZF6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ).
I got my N6, unlocked it, decrypted it, rooted it, transferred apps via Titanium Backup, and then punched the SIM and moved it from the GS3 to the N6. Booted up and it worked. Have not had any problems at all. *knock* *knock*
A Verizon nexus is NOT a nexus. Is just another fully OEM Verizon locked device.

If bought directly from Verizon.. Yes locked boot loader with modified software/firmware tampered trip counter and of course Verizon proprietary bloatware.
The online chat reps are the worst... If it is really true that VZW will carry it on 2/26 add another one to two months cause of supply issues + VZW tramp stamp time.
As soon as someone who is on a Unlimited data plan with verizon gets a Samsung galaxy S7 edge, could you please check to see if foxfi works on it.

YES, FoxFi works on the Galaxy S7. Though I don't have my phone yet (arriving Friday), I went into local VZ store, installed FoxFi from my PlayStore account and confirmed it DOES work with no issues. To my knowledge it shouldn't matter what type of account you have (including unlimited, which I have). I believe it is a function of the hardware. This is why I waited to purchase this phone (and confirm FoxFi) rather than the Motorola Turbo, which does not work with FoxFi.
I pay the $30 month for wifi tethering, and that works on the S7 edge. I'm going to have to check out this foxfi.

I don't want an S7, never did
I would take it if they stuck to ONE of the original plans which was a loner of an S7 till the new Note comes out.
I lost $$ on the sale of a Pefect N5 and feel they are screwing me by forcing an S7 on me and turning my Note 7 off.
