Ok, I rooted my phone, installed safestrap, and made a virtual rom. I tried installing CM mod from get.cm/?device=jflteatt using the stable version. Successful install. But when I boot the phone, it just goes to a black screen and stays off and I have to boot it up. Cleared cache and Davlik, am I doing something wrong?

To help clear it up, as he said - the original thread does tell you why CM won't work. ROM's compatible with SafeStrap are TouchWiz based ROMs. The original threads will help you to learn more about SafeStrap so you don't screw your phone up.

My device is rooted, and istalled OUDHS recovery, how can I remove the custom lock in the boot animation and the custom status
Seriously, there are lots of people here on XDA with OCD. If seeing that custom unlock every time you have to reboot is bothering you so much then ODIN back to stock, re-root, update supersu binary and don't do anything else to your phone. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but if you modify any system files or have a custom recovery then you won't be able to have official status. The custom unlock don't bother me so I could be wrong.

Uhm, well i bricked my phone trying to flash a rom and ODIN'd back to stock, updated to latest firmware, ran motochopper, installed SuperSU (i hate superuser), uninstalled superuser using uninstall master(app in play store), downloaded goo.im in play store, installed openrecovery script, flashed cwm using twrp (the openrecovery script installs it) ans thats what i did. every time i flashed anything i always wiped cache/dalvik. I don't know if you want to flash back to stock, it keeps your data intact! Just a lengthy process. And pretty much what i did. not really sure how i never got the custom, only once.

I've been searching for the stock kernal for at&t users for s bit now, can't find it I'm trying to fix the annoying "updating camera firmware, please wait..." message. Unless there's a better way, I'll just assume you have to flash the sock kernal to update it. But if you flash the sock Kernal, wouldn't the phone fail on boot?

No, I'm running Wanamlite v1.0.
I just reinstalled the stock AT&T rom to allow the camera to update, but when I ran the camera, no update appeared. So I figured it was all set. After re-rooting, I re-installed Wanamlite and KT kernal, open up the camera, and sure enough the message re-appears. I didn't perform any wipes. But it looks like I'll have to because all the AT&T bloatware was re-installed again.

Your mistake was reinstalling Wanamlite again. Here's how you install non AT&T ROMs
1. Root your phone. I used the one click TWRP and Loki method.
2. Factory Reset and install custom ROM.
3. Install AT&T kernel. Let it boot up. Open Camera.
4. Reboot to recovery. Install custom kernel. Wipe cache and Dalvik. Fix Permissions.
5. Reboot. All done.

Exactly, its nice he can recommend installing a stock kernel, but they are not to be found. I asked in another thread and didn't get an answer. I somehow got it to work just wiping and installing Omega 5.0 Then to get wifi to work I installed ktoonez kernel.

okay, assuming you're using the AT&T variant, I did this:
I got the looping "installing camera firmware" and tried faux an ktoonsez with no luck
I flashed this tmobile stock kernel and the camera firmware updated successfully by going into the camera app.
I then just flashed faux kernel back and everything worked great.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271976
I use shabbypenguin's auto loki CWM recovery, but you'll have to definitely flash the loki patch after the tmo kernel to make this work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291956
So I put the safestrap recovery on my i1337 in hopes of flashing a stock rom to it. I followed all steps, and the rom was already loki'd. Now when I boot my phone goes to a black screen and the led flashed a vibrates every few seconds. I still can access the recovery menu and restore with my backup so that isn't a problem. I just want to know what I'm doing wrong and also maybe a link to a proper tutorial on what to do if I am doing something wrong. The rom I was using was KANGAKAT Google-Edition 4.4
You can only use 4.2.2 TW and 4.2.2 GPE. 4.4 is a nogo.
I advise reading both the dev thread located in the development section and the QA thread in the QA section thoroughly.

Hello XDA-
I have an i337 Galaxy S4 with MK2 firmware. I got Safestrap 3.71 for recovery bypassing and I have a really strange issue. It seems no ROMs that I flash a successful. Ever. I've tried AOSP ROMs, Cyanogen, etc. When I just tried installing Cyanogen I went to ROM slot 1, wiped it of everything except the external SD card, went to install, selected the .zip for MY device off of the external SD, flashed it, and when I reboot I get a teal screen with pulsing pink/brown lines on it. The same applies when I do any other ROM, except sometimes I just get a black screen that endlessly loop reboots.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
You can't flash aosp or cm roms in safe strap. They have to be touch wiz based.

Ahh, are you serious? Safestrap is the only working recovery bypass on my MK2 firmware, ugh. Hopefully Samsung eventually unlocks the bootloader. Well, I'm off to looking for a TouchWiz based ROM then.
Thanks!

You can, however, install Google Edition ROMs, I believe. Search through the Safestrap thread to make sure, but that should allow you a relatively AOSP-like experience.

Have you tried this one? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47718525
It's not Kitkat, but it's still nice and clean.
Also, make sure you're using the correct version of Safestrap. One version 3.65 is for MF3 users, and version 3.71 is for MK2 users.

I've seen many people in the past months reporting that they're running GPE ROMs on Safestrap with no problems. Has something changed recently that I don't know about?
EDIT: Ah, I didn't see his edit up there. Sorry for giving false hope! I don't keep up with the Safestrap scene much since I have a Loki'd S4.

Yeah. If you have an MF3 S4 then you can run a 4.2.2 GE ROM, but us on MK2 are out of luck for a full AOSP experience unless an exploit is implemented.

Hi All,
Appreciate the guides and community here. Looking for a little help on my ATT S4 KitKat 4.4.2. It's rooted via Towelroot.
I want to run a custom rom that isn't slow. I have Odin, proper Samsung USB drivers.
1) Can CNW be used on my phone to boot to recovery? If not, what are the alternatives and how do I use them (is there a guide you can share)?
2) Do I have NC1 on my phone, what the heck is NC2, NC1-what does this mean, is it relevant?
Thanks all
-Christian
If you have updated your phone to the att 4.4.2 firmware then you should be on NC1 which means you cannot put cwm or any CM rom. The only recovery you can use is safestrap. After that you can only flash rooms the specifically say safestrap compatible and you must flash the att_nc1 module after flashing rom for WiFi to work. Read the safestrap thread under the development section before doing anything.

Yes, I would also read over All Things ATT/MK2 etc in General--:good:
Those numbers NC1 etc are your build version. Can be found under Settings/About Phone. It will dictate what you can and can't do on your phone--We have no NC2 yet. :good:

I don't use safestrap. So not sure. Did you wipe all including system. And flash to correct slot. Stock slot I believe. Use correct safestrap. Also need sellinux, spelling? Iam all for custom ROMS. I made one for the Tab3. If all you want is the stock Nexus experience, you could just download the Google Now Launcher which is Google release the AOSP launcher. Then if you want the individual AOSP apps, you can do a search here or a google search, and you will find XDA threads that provide the apps with installation instructions.
