I'm seeing stuff on the development forum that mentions you can use either TWRP or CWM to flash the zips.
How do I install CWM on the G2? I haven't seen any topics pertaining to it, and I haven't seen any release for it.
I'm not all hat used to CWM though as I ran BMM on my Razr.
So how do I install it on my G2 (D802)?

Oops, that's not for Verizon version! I?
VZW LG G2
CWM Recovery on Verizon G2
It doesn't seem that the version of the CWM recovery image on clockworkmod.com for Verizon G2 (vs980) [recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.4-vs980.img] has the loki bootloader bypass enabled (.lok image).
1) Tried flashing the recovery image directly through ROM Manager. Says it was installed correctly, but upon rebooting into recovery, received android system error icon.
2) Tried flashing TWRP directly though ROM Manager. Same result.
3) Tried adb push with loki_flash and neither CMW recovery image or TWRP image passed loki validation
4) Downloaded a loki image of TWRP, installed with adb push using method described in above message. SUCCESS.
I assumed the one available on clockworkmod.com was a loki image, since it was the one linked to the Verizon G2.

Would it work with the Verizon G2? VS980 is the model number. If so, I'd love that!
VZW LG G2
Links to CWM Recovery loki images for Verizon LG G2
Yes, these images are specifically for the Verizon LG G2.
Here they are:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=8961
There is one image for CWM recovery and one for touch recovery. The loki images were created from the CWM images on clockworkmod.com using loki_flash.
These images must be flashed using the loki_flash method detailed here (use option 1):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670
Just replace the name of the *.img file specified in those instructions with the *.lok file you downloaded from the link above.
*** THIS IMAGE IS ONLY VALID FOR THE VERIZON LG G2 VARIANT! DON"T FLASH IT ON ANY OTHER DEVICES ***

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to flash a rom for the first time and I've been fighting with TWRP for the last week or so. Here's what I've done. LG G2 D803 Rogers Canada
1. Rooted Device.
2. Installed TWRP Manager and Installed TWRP Recovery Image (2.6.3.2) and I can restore with no issues.
3. Downloaded latest PA 4.4 roms for my phone version (LG G2 D803), including the most recent GAPPS (mini modular). And transferred to phone.
4. Reboot into recovery.
5. Wipe Cache, Dalvik, Data, ... etc)
6. Select install ROM.
7. Get error right away (E:Error executing updater binary in zip)
8. Flashing rom FAILED.
What can I do to fix this?
My device is not supported on CWMR, so I'm not sure if that would work. Also, I've tried downloading older roms, so I'm pretty sure it's not a bad download issue.
Thanks for any help!
TWRP 2.6.3.2 isn't the latest release, so that might be your problem. Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469995 flash the new zip from your current TWRP, and you should be able to flash KitKat ROMs now. Or, if you prefer CWM, there's PhilZ Touch CWM here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2554053

Hey guys. I'm having the hardest time flashing anything right now. I'm on the 2.6.3.2 and I get the binary updater problem so then I tried flashing other twrp then I get the fast boot error then I tried philz touch then I get boot certification verify error.
All I want to do is flash a 4.4.2 rom.
Canadian rom D803 here.
Thanks
wootever's TWRP 2.6.3.4 oakster15 had posted above worked on my D803, however there are a couple of 2.6.3.4 download versions that didn't work when I flashed it while running TWRP 2.6.3.2. I'm not familar with loki but I'm guessing the one that worked had been "loki-fied".

If you haven't' found this already, here is a great list for the D803 with several options that may work for you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2611749
Hope this helps.
Hey Guys,
As someone with a D803 variant of the G2, I had been pulling my hair out the last few days on this. Anyway, thanks to the Mahdi team, I was able to get TWRP 2.7.1.0 via this link:
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/hid9ny9jl91yx/TWRPS
The 4.4.4 rom I flashed was made by the Mahdi team and can be found here:

Cheers!
Greetings,
First I'm sorry if this isn't the right thread for this, I'll gladly delete and change threads if need be.
Second, I just got an LG G2 (Verizon) today. It's great but I want more so I rooted it, confirmed that it's rooted. But that's all I can do. I can't install a recovery app on here to save my life. I tried downloading the VZW recovery img and pushing that with the loki_flash but I got two errors mainly.
Input file is not a valid loki image and Loki aboot does not match device. I'm trying to run either TWRP or CWM, anything really so I can flash a custom ROM on this bad boy.
If the image is not a valid loki image I'm assuming I don't have the right pair of files? (loki/recovery) and if the aboot image doesn't match the device I'm assuming that I don't have the right loki? Are these correct assumptions or am I making an ass out of just me???
My phone is rooted, ROM Manager says I have both TWRP AND CWM on my phone but if I try to boot into recovery via ROM Manager or adb I get a black screen and nothing more.
Does anyone have ANY insight at all into how I can go about the next step?

TWRP
Follow the install instructions for TWRP 2.6.3.2. Then after you've confirmed you can boot the OS from the recovery, place the 2.6.3.3 on the root of your SD. Reboot into recovery and flash 2.6.3.3. Reboot into recovery again and you'll be good to go.
Version 2.6.3.2 won't flash 4.4 ROMs but 2.6.3.3 will flash 4.2 (I'm assuming), 4.3, and 4.4.
Download FreeGee app from the play store and install TWRP recovery from it. It was the only way I could install it on my LG G2.

I followed many tutorials last night including this one.
(I am too new to post links in a message.) The link I was going to post was from howtorootmobiledotcom
I downloaded any version of TWRP I could, there were only 2, one img of each version and one zip. I used the loki from the zip that came with it as well but still no go.

I used RussGJohnson solution and it worked in a matter of seconds. Now I'm stuck though. I wiped everything and can boot into TWRP but I have no ability to sideload anything. I have all the latest LG drivers, even the lastest android sdk drivers, nothing is working. If I boot up normally the LG logo comes up and just sits there.
I can boot into recovery using the whole volume down + power button combo but then when I go to sideload my computer isn't seeing the device. I'm on a Win 8 machine using the stock cable. I've tried both USB 2 and 3 ports
It's done
Using RussGJohnson's suggestion worked great.
The issue I had with being unable to sideload a ROM wasn't resolved but I just used my Mac to do it instead. That worked just fine. Win8 couldn't recognize the device while in recovery. Go figure.
free gee very fast
Use Flashify u n00b.
I have read many post on how to install recoveries. There is no clear method on which recovery to use and what version. TWRP has 2.6.3.2, 2.6.3.3 and 2.6.3.4. The TWRP 2.6.3.4 has many versions. People are saying use 2.6.3.4 for Kit Kat. Others say use 2.6.3.3 or CWM 6.0.4.4. It seems to me everyone always has problems installing Rom's no matter which one you use. I hope this post can clear up the confusion. I'm using Verizon vs980. Please, could you list the different recoveries to use for the different LG G2 versions and for JB and KK? Also post the links for the recoveries. Thanks.

I'm on 12b. What about 2.6.3.4 for KK? I currently have twrp 2.6.3.3 and want to install a KK Rom. I read the posts here everyday and I see another bricked phone with other people with 12b going to KK that are using twrp 2.6.3.3 or Cwm. I would like to see a common thread on what to do. Why do some people brick there phone and others don't? Is there other steps, other than installing a recovery, to properly install a KK Rom? I have never had so many issues installing roms on other phones and tablets before.
DO NOT USE TWRP! ITS A DEATH TRAP
I used TWRP and it bricked my device , I had to use TWRP because CWM was not out at the time I had to use the warranty to get a new LG G2 (I drowned it and said it broke cause of water xD) So yeah do not use TWRP always go with CWM its the safest.

TWRP works fine. Been using it since I got the phone (Nov). Just cuz you had bad luck with it doesn't mean it doesn't work. It was most likely user error. I've flashed plenty of ROMs, ranging from JB to KK, without any probs.

Can you post the link for twrp for the 12b OTA version? Can you show how to install with ADB? Once you get twrp 12b OTA installed, is there anything, other than flashing the ROM and GAPPS, that needs to be done. Thanks.

- download ioroot from here and unzip it on your computer.
- download TWRP for 12B from here. unzip and place the .lok file in the same folder where you placed ioroot.
- download the loki_flash.zip file below. unzip and place the file in the same folder where you placed ioroot.
(YOU SHOULD NOW HAVE THE loki_flash AND twrp.lok FILES IN THE SAME FOLDER AS ADB )
- assuming you still have the window open where you placed all the files, right-click an empty space and choose "open command window here".
- in the command window enter the following code (you can copy/paste them if you like):
adb push loki_flash /data/local/tmp/loki_flash
adb push twrp.lok /data/local/tmp/twrp.lok
adb shell
(IF YOU DONT SEE A # prompt, type su to get it.)
cd /data/local/tmp
chmod 777 loki_flash
./loki_flash recovery /data/local/tmp/twrp.lok
exit
adb reboot recovery
- you will know be in recovery. if you flash a custom rom, make sure to backup your stock rom first so you have something to revert back to in case you have any probe. also, this version of recovery has usb-otg support, which means you can connect a flash drive to your phone and keep you backups on there instead of your phone. heres a link to a usb-otg cable.
let me know if you have any probs and i can walk you thru it.
I used FreeGee to try to install a custom recovery after root. First TWRP, stuck at performing action. Then CWM. Then the older CWM. Always stuck at performing action. The old CWM worked. Reboot to recovery and get security boot error. Looked around on forums and found a CWM batch install that everyone says works for them. Still recovery boot error. Anyone know what's up? I'm on AT&T D800. Rooted by ioroot25
Also RomManager says I have both recoveries installed. Thinking this might be the issue. How do I delete one or both and get on the right track?

Thanks again for quick help however I have checked the downgrade process and its too long plus I have to download stock 4.2.2 firmware which is 1GB plus in size..
So is there no easy method to install recovery on already rooted stock 4.4.2 firmware?

No, no easy one, and some might even say none at all, but you can read the rooting thread where they discuss recovery as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448887

Using the 2.6.6.3 TWRP img.
Any ideas?

Have you tryed FreeGee from Playstore?
Read in the same thread you show that someone got recovery with that apk.
Just download TWRP 2.7.0.0 and you should be ok.
Nevertheless, read the last pages of the thread you mencioned and you will find a solution.
EDIT: Think I got my recovery using this method:
