[Q] Unable to flash TWRP - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was able to root fine with the ioroot, but now I'm following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670&highlight=loki+tool and when I get to the point to flash the recovery with loki_tool I just get this screen.
I'm on a Verizon G2 (VS980) and still on 4.2.2.
Using the 2.6.6.3 TWRP img.
Any ideas?

Have you tryed FreeGee from Playstore?
Read in the same thread you show that someone got recovery with that apk.
Just download TWRP 2.7.0.0 and you should be ok.
Nevertheless, read the last pages of the thread you mencioned and you will find a solution.
EDIT: Think I got my recovery using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2633941
Give it a try.

I tried the tool that you linked and it seemed to work. I'm just always nervous about not knowing what is actually running with some of those. Thanks though.

[Q] HELP!!!

Alright so today I bricked my g2 (not a huge problem, generally) installing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2502789 on my vs980. I installed it normal then all my phone did was boot into a fastboot screen [700]udc_start() . So I am trying to unbrick through this guide http://www.lg-phones.org/how-to-flash-unbrick-lg-g2-back-to-stock.html and it only gets to 49% then says it does not work. If anybody here has a solution to this I beyond appreciate it.
Additional Note. I was on CWM and then I used Flashify to flash TWRP 2.6.3.2 img and then I tried installing rom and that's where it went down

Try this method, I have had success with this method a couple of times already. Who is your carrier, there are more detailed info in your carrier development forums.

[q] lg g2 d800 + twrp

Hello all.
Over the past few days, I have been attempting to install CyanogenMod on my LG G2, but I am currently stuck on getting TWRP to work properly. I have followed the steps (more than once) on the forum post here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670), but it has yet to work. I either get the "fastboot" text screen (two lines), or (now) nothing more than a backlit screen. If anyone can help me with this, it would be much appreciated.
Info on the device:
Rooted
Model: LG-D800 (10o)
If anything else is needed, please let me know. I'd like to get this working.
Thanks
-C
I used this video to bypass all that fastboot nonsense.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTJI9ThY0mk
Basically all you do is:
!Phone Must Be Rooted!
Download Recovery:
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/g2att/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.2-g2att.img
Download from the Google Play Market:
>Flashify (for root users)
Open flashify,
Click on 'Recovery image' and look for the recovery you downloaded,
Click on the recovery file,
Hit flash,
Hit Reboot and it'll reboot you into TWRP
And you're done!

I have been having a weird issue flashing the latest trwp versions over stock recovery on my D800, resulting in me booting to fastboot. Oddly, if I flash cwm recovery it works. then from cwm recovery I flash the twrp zip and then I am set. No idea why and I have been able to duplicate it. shrug

Any chance you could communicate the method you used to do this, at some point? I've tried flashing CWM as well, but I've had the same outcome as with TWRP. Would be awesome to get Cyanogenmod on here finally.
Thanks for the replies!

Have you tried the app Flashify, once you are rooted?
Alternatiely, I have put the recovery.img file in the root of my sdcard and then did:
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
Another app called Freegee will install either CWM or TWRP on there for you.

[Q] Why is this so hard to install recovery!

Greetings,
First I'm sorry if this isn't the right thread for this, I'll gladly delete and change threads if need be.
Second, I just got an LG G2 (Verizon) today. It's great but I want more so I rooted it, confirmed that it's rooted. But that's all I can do. I can't install a recovery app on here to save my life. I tried downloading the VZW recovery img and pushing that with the loki_flash but I got two errors mainly.
Input file is not a valid loki image and Loki aboot does not match device. I'm trying to run either TWRP or CWM, anything really so I can flash a custom ROM on this bad boy.
If the image is not a valid loki image I'm assuming I don't have the right pair of files? (loki/recovery) and if the aboot image doesn't match the device I'm assuming that I don't have the right loki? Are these correct assumptions or am I making an ass out of just me???
My phone is rooted, ROM Manager says I have both TWRP AND CWM on my phone but if I try to boot into recovery via ROM Manager or adb I get a black screen and nothing more.
Does anyone have ANY insight at all into how I can go about the next step?

Sorry didn't mean to hit the thanks button.
What build are you on (11A,12B? What recovery image are you using (ie, from what thread)?
Sent from chdhsheh fhhdud
TWRP
Follow the install instructions for TWRP 2.6.3.2. Then after you've confirmed you can boot the OS from the recovery, place the 2.6.3.3 on the root of your SD. Reboot into recovery and flash 2.6.3.3. Reboot into recovery again and you'll be good to go.
Version 2.6.3.2 won't flash 4.4 ROMs but 2.6.3.3 will flash 4.2 (I'm assuming), 4.3, and 4.4.
Download FreeGee app from the play store and install TWRP recovery from it. It was the only way I could install it on my LG G2.
So many

I followed many tutorials last night including this one.
(I am too new to post links in a message.) The link I was going to post was from howtorootmobiledotcom
I downloaded any version of TWRP I could, there were only 2, one img of each version and one zip. I used the loki from the zip that came with it as well but still no go.

I used RussGJohnson solution and it worked in a matter of seconds. Now I'm stuck though. I wiped everything and can boot into TWRP but I have no ability to sideload anything. I have all the latest LG drivers, even the lastest android sdk drivers, nothing is working. If I boot up normally the LG logo comes up and just sits there.
I can boot into recovery using the whole volume down + power button combo but then when I go to sideload my computer isn't seeing the device. I'm on a Win 8 machine using the stock cable. I've tried both USB 2 and 3 ports
It's done
Using RussGJohnson's suggestion worked great.
The issue I had with being unable to sideload a ROM wasn't resolved but I just used my Mac to do it instead. That worked just fine. Win8 couldn't recognize the device while in recovery. Go figure.
free gee very fast
Use Flashify u n00b.

[Q] Recovery boot error

I used FreeGee to try to install a custom recovery after root. First TWRP, stuck at performing action. Then CWM. Then the older CWM. Always stuck at performing action. The old CWM worked. Reboot to recovery and get security boot error. Looked around on forums and found a CWM batch install that everyone says works for them. Still recovery boot error. Anyone know what's up? I'm on AT&T D800. Rooted by ioroot25
Also RomManager says I have both recoveries installed. Thinking this might be the issue. How do I delete one or both and get on the right track?
I think I have the same problem. Could u solve the problem?

Thanks again for quick help however I have checked the downgrade process and its too long plus I have to download stock 4.2.2 firmware which is 1GB plus in size..
So is there no easy method to install recovery on already rooted stock 4.4.2 firmware?

No, no easy one, and some might even say none at all, but you can read the rooting thread where they discuss recovery as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448887

Any working recovery yet (twrp, cwm, etc.)??

Tried twrp, but always says I don't have busybox and says loading, but never does, then on install recov, it DL's, but then comes up with an error: Flashing recovery was unsuccessful.
Gives partition as: /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/recovery
No such partition on LG Leon LTE (h345, flashed from MPCS to T-Mob h345d, only way to get a working root)
Anyone else having this issue?
SOLVED: had to set "OEM Unlock" to enabled in Developer Options..., DUH!!!
This is off-topic, but as you wrote you've flashed a kdz from other variant: is it safe to try flashing different kdz'd just to try? I have a lot of possibilities, but i have only flashed the one from my country and exact same model and v10a. But it's impossible to root. Thanks!

I had to downgrade to an h345d kdz variant in order to get a working root. That worked, but it was a MPCS phone (on Tmo network) flashed to a Tmo kdz. Worked. I'd think if you Sbrick it, you could still re-flash with stock from recov., so not that big a deal.

Are you using the correct twrp? We've got a basic yellow guy which won't flash cm12 and then we've got a blue guy which does.
Why did you use kingroot though? There are better methods for attaining root on your phone.

Rooting LG Leon H34510e
I'm a newbie when it comes to rooting however I successfully rooted my H34510e using KingRoot. I verified root and BusyBox installation using Root Checker Basic. I installed TWRP but found that my device was not supported so, I uninstalled TWRO and installed CWM Rom Manager and that's where I'm at today. I'm looking for a custom rom but am not sure CWM is the right manager for my phone.

Take your phone, open your internet browser and go to http://www.kingroot.net/
Download the app, open it, follow the steps and you're root!
I have the same phone H340AR v10a ROM, from Uruguay.
Try that, it worked for me.
About TWRP I tried c50 version of TWRP Team, but it doesn't work.. You install the image and when reboot it shows the android robot opened up and nothing comes up.. I installed the TWRP using the "dd if=/dev/ bla bla bla" command..
Some help it wouldn't be bad.
Thanks!
Can't find OEM unlock
I already activated developer options, but..... CANT FIND IT!
