Less responsive section on screen - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone had this happen? I've noticed when using the spen that it was not responding to a part of my screen. I went into sketch (see attachment) and you can see the part that is not as responsive. I say "less" responsive cause if I push down harder with the spen it will respond better. Any ideas????? I don't want to have to return it as I have it rooted and all set up now. I've noticed this about a day or so ago.
Edit: with my finger it works perfectly.

This happened to me. It was on the left side If the screen. It would just skip over that part of the screen. Although a factory reset didn't help. I have since rooted and I don't have the issue anymore.

Hopefully someone knows why or what causes it. Weird that it is only with the spen that doesn't work and not my finger. Did yours work with your finger as well and just not the spen

I'm using a CellTO leather case that has a magnetic flap. This section that was not responding to spen was where the magnetic field was. Dang!!! I actually like this case too. I don't want to keep using it incase it has any prolonged repercussions from the magnets :/

It definitely seemed to me like it had something to do with a magnetic field. But I don't have the same case you have I'm using rubber. I wonder if it had anything to do with me using a metal object to take out my sim. Because it was in the sim card area on my screen.

[Q] Loose/Wobbly Home Button

My home button on my Verizon Galaxy Note 3, has play in it. The button can be moved to where it looks crooked. I have seen other people online having this issue.
Do you guys know if this is something that is normal, or should I exchange the device?
Here is an example.
http://cdn.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/nexusae0_note3button.gif
I saw this discussed in a review of the Note 3 (can't remember the website) but it seems to be an issue in some phones. Mine seems to be just like yours.

Mine is loose as well its is visibility crooked at times.
I'd be interested in knowing if Samsung or Verizon are going to do anything about it...

My black Note 3 has the loose button and what appears to be a crooked camera. Strange but my wife's white Note 3 has none of these issues.

I called the local Verizon here in Florence, KY. I had the guy walk up to the black Note 3 on display, and he said it was just a tad wobbly as well. This is going to drive me crazy! but I fear that if I get a replacement, its just going to have the same issue. The crappy part is, I am rooted, I will have to flash stock of at least use chainfire's unroot. I allready used Wanam Xposed to change the custom status... then I would have to deal with Verizon.
I just dont know at this point if its worth the hassle, what do you think?

Ugh. You just called to my attention my camera is also crooked. ..

My home button wobbles ever so slightly... I never really noticed until I just read this thread. I think I can live with it.
I noticed, my Camera lense is slightly crooked and the S-Pen is hard to take out. I think the combination of these cosmetic issues, warrants a replacement. I paid $700 for my Note 3.

Build quality

Has anyone dropped their new toy? Anyone scratched the screen? Just curious how this phone would handle a fall or scratches.

There are several drop test videos on youtube if you do a search.
Edit: I watched a few of them. The phone does well except in the case of a face down fall in which case ur screen is F'd. Still usable but cracked to hell.

I'm actually pissed. I kept it in a Caselogic case and the charging port is too small for a standard micro USB charger. Pulling the case off a few time actually scratched the faux metal bezel.

I probably shouldn't say this because I may jinx myself but in the 5 years that I've owned smart phones I've only drop my device 4 times. I guess having big hands helps.
Dropped mine down an inclined driveway coming out the car. Luckily I had the spigen case on. Unscathed.
Remember to check where your phone is before getting out the car or else it will wind up on the concrete.

Tiny area in screen pretty wonky with S-Pen.

I bought the Note 3 for my fiancée 3 days after it came out. Just recently noticed that the middle right of the screen doesn't work right with the S-Pen. Noticed that after the recent update it went away but a week later it came back. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just her Note 3? What should I do?

If its under warranty return it for another. Call Verizon and see about a replacement

Do you have a case on your phone? Some people were having issues with certain cases causing this.

Wow. That was it. This case has a magnet flap to keep flip case cover closed. S-Pen display issue only happens when the case is on the phone. Thanks a bunch!!!!

S-PEN feels loose

I'vehad the Note 4 for a few days and the S-Pen feels quite loose to me. It can even move around a 1mm when in its silo.
I compared it to my friends Note 3 and it felt very tight. It also feels much more tight when inserted with no movement.
Anyone with the same problem?
I'm just concerned that it will get only worse.
My note 4 have no problem with spen
Try factory reset

I had that problem this morning. I took my case off and reinsert the pen and now it's nice and sturdy again. Maybe the pen wasn't inserted all the way?
I double checked and it's all the way in. If I'm the only one I guess I got a defective one ...

Try putting the pen in with the button facing down. Seems if it's facing up, it does jiggle a little.
It actually feels more firm with button facing down. But it doesn't solve the problem completely in my case
lol, same story here. just wanted to create a tread...
i have 3 note4's at the moment (due to display problems): 2 of them have loose spen, at one device it sits tight like on my note3!
a solution is to put one or two layers of transparent tape around the silver end of the s-pen, although i do not prefer this method
as it looks not good...
I decided to return my device on Thursday since it was actually bothering me, but funny thing is Samsung is still claiming it is not a defect and studying my case. They even went as far as show me another unit with the same problem.
I really hope upcoming batches will have it ironed out.
Does anyone know a solution in fixing the loose s-pen? The one with tape doesn't work out well, and is not really aesthetic...
Have you tried comparong inserting the S-Pen with the button facing up and facing down? I had the same problem on my 10.1 2014 and it was much tighter when the button was facing down in the case. I know it's not a solution, but it might help.

Do about 20 jumping jax with phone in hand. If the spen slips out of place its a defect.
You could then argue it has s heath and should allow you to run with device.
Mine is snug, my Note 3 was a bit loose but it never fell out or anything. I guess if it's inside the silo and doesn't slip out with normal usage it's not a defect.
i added now one layer (one wrung around) of clear tape (which i do not like aesthetically!!), and now the spen sits tight.
button up or down didn't change anything for me...
now, with the pen tight, the device feels a lot more "solid", so for me the loose pen is a defect...
maybe adding a point of glue would also do the trick, i will experiment a little with that...

Please don't use glue in your brand new device. Get it exchanged!
Can someone define 'loose s pen'? I put mine in pressed in all the way. If I wiggle my finger on it, it slight jiggles, but not to the point where it falls off. I have never noticed this on any note before. I wouldn't say its a defect, but more of an annoyance.

Sounds exactly like mine, I can wiggle it a bit, but it still feels like sits there and won't fall out anyway..

If you put it in the other way its snug. Or at least mine is.
S Pen included with my Note 4
Hi i have 2 seperate questions about the S Pen. 1st. Has anyone removed the button on the pen to try to adjust the potentiometers for sending the pen thinner or thicker? I saw a pic of a note 4 S Pen with the button removed on this forum somewhere 2 days ago & it showed the pen having 2 round very small adjustable screw like things & they where explaining which way to turn the front one to adjust it, but I removed my button just to look at it & in my S Pen there is no adjustment mechanisms at all & there's only one round thing total so I'm just curious to see whether it's the same for all note 4 buyers or not?
2nd. I thought I heard something about Samsung developing & very soon making available for sale a newer updated S Pen for the note 4 & note edge to include Rotation & Tilt which was originally supposed to be included with both phones on release days of each. Does anyone know any info at all about this?

Galaxy note 4

I recently have a NOte 4 N910C
It is used but have received from a trusted person. It has stock setting, and everything in place no root or something. Have kitkat stock firmware.
One issue though, it detects the PEN when inserted or removed but the pen doesn't write at all on the screen. Even hovered or touching, or pressing hard. It doesn't write at all. The seller says that unfortunately the pen is swapped with some other note 4 customer. He guarantees it's original pen.
So I tried I went to the shop and checked with other note 4 pens. Nope I can't find a pen that is working.
How it is possible that note 4 doesn't recognize any pen at all but the touch works perfectly ?
thanks,
Because the touch has nothing to do with the PEN, the Note 4 probably had a screen replacement with a faulty Wacom sensor (which is the technology behing the S-PEN).
Thanks
Is there a chance to check this sensor

Yeah, that is probably the cause of the problem. Unfortunately you will have to get the sensor replaced if you want to be able to use your S-Pen again.
