Easily Root Wildfire with Kingo! - Wildfire General

I found this windows utility which will help you to root the wildfire easily. I have not tried this myself. But, the wildfire is listed under compatible phones.
here is the website,
http://www.kingoapp.com/index.htm
And, here is an article in Cnet which also has a small guide.

Much easier tool to root devices, starters may obviously use this, if it works?

Sigs don't always tell the truth, just want to know

there are or were 2 ways of rooting a Wildfire [buzz] the latter you had to default to if the best one didnt work or wouldnt take on your revision - i have 2 wildfire one unrooted and the other rooted via the second method - i may try and brick the second one with this method - the only thing annoying about the Buzz is the 2SD to get any reasonable storage from it.

I think you're still in stock recovery. Try flashing CWM.
Find a PC49IMG.zip (look in development section) and copy to SD. Boot into the Bootloader, it'll detect the zip. Choose yes. it'll install it.
This will give you CWM recovery.

Cool man. This is about the most easy way to do things to root. It's simple to unroot to all of those other programs people say to use can be a pain in the ass to use lol.
Glad it's working for you flashing and rooting is confusing for new people and alot of people can be a bit rude when you ask for help. I been learning everything I can from reading and trial and error.
This is as easy as it gets just follow the directons on there site. Make sure you don't have Htc sync installed otherwise you will have issues.

I have engineering SPL(.85.2007), stock is .86. Dont know about .76, never heard of it.
It depends on the root method you used. The "gfree" method leaves the stock bootloader in place (0.86) unless you follow the optional steps and flash the engineering bootloader (0.85). The "visionary" method flashes the engineering bootloader as a key part of the root process (when running the root.sh script). I've never heard of a 0.76 bootloader for the MT4G. Could it be from the Panache?

Yeah without root u can't access or write to system partition as far as I know. U can install cwm though interestingly enough which I didn't know (I did it yesterday to my mates gt-s6500) then rooted from there. So who knows wait for someone with bit more experience to give u definitive answer but if u can, I never seen it and I used fair few devices.why u not want to root anyway?

To be honest: "Custom Rom (which includes rooting)" and "noob" isn't a good match.
But make a test of your own: Read this and if you think you understand what you are going to do - do it. If not .... I think you know the answer.

I too am a noob to this but have managed to root and install a custom Rom and return my DHD back to stock. Best advice I can give from my experience is to google AAHK (I believe it has been removed from here) and read the effin manual enclosed within the zip file. It's one click and it will wipe and root your device. You can then install a custom Rom stored on Ur SD card through the Menu (HBOOT I believe). I know I don't have many posts on here but that's due to A LOT of time spent reading threads and then giving it a go. If you get stuck, I'm sure any questions you have have been asked here before

Ditto.
Search google for 'attn1 advanced ace hack kit'. Read his entire post, read the effn manual (inside the AAHK), read it again, then quiz yourself. Search youtube for other people using it, to give you an idea of how it should go. Search youtube for how to flash a custom ROM too. You'll figure it out.
If anything does go wrong, don't freak out, and come here for help.
Am a noob... rooted my phone two weeks ago and installed Android Revolution HD 6.3.3. Also tried out CM 7.2.
Rooting with AAHK is pretty easy, though the manual is not as clear as it could be. Download the Kit, read the manual and will be happy to help you with the parts which are not clear. It is still fresh in my mind.

Rooting the Desire HD was probably the easiest root I've had to do. I blindly tried to root my father's Galaxy S II and installed the wrong kind of firmware and it was a mess, DHD has a simple program which you can even root with, one click and reading the EFFN MANUAL is all it takes.

Easy? It is totaly insane! So many things to go wrong, first they don't recommend windows, you have to get Ubuntu, find your way in ubuntu (how do they say prompt in Linux? Ahhh, console? No, TERMINAL!) Then it is pretty easy, just one line downloads root and runs it, but I still prefer the method I used to root my wife's Galaxy Ace. Just copy a zip onto a SD card and boot in recovery and apply update from SD card. No need to connect it to the PC, worry about stupid windows USB drivers etc.
But it works and that is important. The manual is makig things more complicated than they need to be. Only once you do it you realize that if is not so complex as manual wants you to believe

Really? Oh dear, installing a new OS definetly doesn`t make sense for just installing another rom on a stock dhd.
Reading guide, doing whats written there ................. aaaaaaaaand it´s done.
Changing/Messing with the OS on an expensive device is not something you should do unless you understand what your doing. This is a Development site. Now a rom flashing site. Being a noob is no excuse for not following the forum rules. We were all noobs at one time or another.
You search, you read, you read some more, and then as your done reading.........you read a little bit more. Then you go about rooting and flashing the phone. When/If you run into issues, guess what you do. You repeat the above and search and read. Then if your still stuck and there are no threads about your issue and you followed ALL the directions that you could find, then you open a thread and ask for help.

But its only for older versions of android
Dual boot is possible without s-off, just a pain
The main thing that normal users will benefit from having s-off is being able to flash kernels in recovery and flashing radio firmware

Can I suggest you guys also sort out any differences between different carriers, regions, etc in relation to the method being tested. For example, having a willing test user from the majority of regions. That way, if the method is found, we can know if it will work with all One variants or certain ones. However, these type of threads are for the devs to discuss this and keep it out of the dev boards until the method is found. We, as normal users, can contribute to their efforts by suggesting and testing if we are willing. However, if you have nothing to contribute to their effort, and the ultimate goal of this thread, then they kindly ask you to not post and just enjoy the reading when the dev part comes into play after release.

That has never been the point of these kinds of threads, these threads have basically been a way of keeping the "GIBE ME S-OFF PLS WHEN I WANT S-OFF" types out of dev threads.
People that actually know how to crack security post in the dev threads.

nope, people still want and need toolkits and 1 click executables. because typing fastboot oem writecid 11111111 is too damn hard

Chain fire 3d will work with just root
But its only for older versions of android
Dual boot is possible without s-off, just a pain
The main thing that normal users will benefit from having s-off is being able to flash kernels in recovery and flashing radio firmware

Aroma can flash a kernel in recovery even with S-ON on the HTC One. Its been discussed in the Android Revolution HD ROM thread. I tried it, it works.
