[Q] Root help please Coming from the Evo

Hey guys,
first thanks to all the devs on this site period point blank!
ok now to my question and I know I'll get a answer from a great community like xda (this is my home)
I'm trying to root my Mytouch 4g tonight following trues method, and while I'm sure this has been brought up in the past even though I didn't see it. I for the love of god cannot get ADB to recognize my Mytouch4g. are there any specific drivers I need to download first before trying the TRUE method?
sorry guys for the q if it's a repost but I would love to get this beast rooted before the nights over and couldn't find an answer after searching for the past half hour all most

Not sure what method you are trying but if you are talking about my ADB method, I will be happy to help you out. You shouldnt need to DL anything. The drivers should be on your SD card.

sorry about that bud I thought TRUE was Grankins method that he posted, got it sorted out and am now rooted, but I am curious as to where just for future reference where the drivers are located on this phone on the sdcard or internal? and thank you very very very much for the quick response, it's devs like you that make me love this site!

Its all good, just wasnt sure what method you were using. The True permaroot one. I gotcha now.
You should have a file on your sd card that says HTCDrivers.exe or something like that. If you just click on it it will automaticly install them for you. If you dont have the file for some reason or you cant find them try PDA.net. Or hit me back and I will post them.

bad As$ thanks man, I'll look for it in a bit, and after one night with this phone, I'm gonna start studying up and learning it thoroughly because I really really want to cook up something tasty for this community, you guys give so much, I think it's high time I try to give something back the best I can. I have read over and over again on how to root and still not understand it. I read wiki and for some reason I dont know if its my computer or my phone anyway I would really really appreciate any help you can give a noob. I have downloaded the froyo eco5. And it stinks and I would really like to learn how to install a custom rom. I used to be able to do it on my Samsung Omnia but that was easier. Im going to be on all afternoon so if someone has the time I would really appreciate it

Well if u want to root there's a 1 click root in the dev section I would say do the one with clockworkmod 3.0.0.6 it converts u to ext4 and most roms now require clockworkmod 3 anyways. Make sure u read good and have a rom ready to flash cuz if u do cwm3 when u first boot into recovery it will convert u to ext4 and u have to flash a rom right afther its done. DO NOT REBOOT THE PHONE until u flash the rom that is very important. Good luck buddy

If you go to the epic 4g cookbook thread, itg give links to pretty much everything about the epic 4g. Look up epic cookbook in the search. Hope this helps!

Watch these videos, if you still can't get it just give up

Don't turn off your phone unless nothing is happening for at least 10 minutes, make sure you have USB debugging on in Settings>Applications>development and do not hit "Connect USB" when using one click root.

What he meant was which errors are you getting? The E:\ can't mount? Are you trying to revert back just the gfree? What are you doing? We need more information as your original post is very vague.

The only way to fix it is if you ALREADY have the engineering spl. If you do, you need to fastboot flash clockworkmod 2.x.x and fix the catches. If you don't, at least for the moment, the phone is no longer going to work and basically equals a brick.

For one for now its soft-brick. Second is only way he can push the CWMR2.x if the recovery partition is not also corrupted at that point if that does happen keep in mind it won't even bootup. Best way to check this is by placing the PD15IMG.zip on root of your sdcard and see if it works. If you get fail-pu for now the game is over and I repeat you CAN'T recover from it using push recovery in that case you will brick it completely and won't even power up. I need to do more testing when I get another MT4G as I did push the recovery.img and reverted back from e:\ can't mount before during testing.

Post it here go. I "hack" the emmc chips you read it. I bet $100 if you lookup almost all fail-pu based threads if I was on at that time I posted it on the thread. Do NOT try to give people wrong information unless you have NOT yet done anything that would jeopardize their device.

Don't need to look in my post history, you will see where me and a few others troubleshooted this prob months ago. Aren't you new to this forum? I looked in your post history, all you really do is bewilder people. Something tells me you were already banned from xda before

You can't post it because it does NOT exist and I am the ONLY guy in this whole MT4G section who actually hacked the emmc to find the solution, look at my Avatar. Name me the person who successfully recovered from it? You telling me you know more than I do? Have you even accessed the emmc?

lol that specially made me laugh since the oldest post regarding this issue the thread has me on it. You basically ran though my older posts and saw my recovery.img push along with flashing cwmr2.x from terminal as I posted the howto regarding it. Also the reason I was banned was due to the whole emmc issue in first place which you can find it CM7NB thread. Like I said we would be in better place right now if they didn't ban me then.

If what you claim is true then why don't you make a guide a successfully fix 99% of the bricks on this forum? I remember you now, its funny if what you claim worked you would think somebody else would have figured it out or something. Also, why ban you for helping out the forum.

1) Look in my Avatar.
2) Search for all threads related to fail-pu.
3) Go to it via Tapatalk.
4) Compare the Avatar.
Now if you could read half as you claimed to fix someones issue you would know who I am and why I am back on XDA and the reason I am back is to find the solution. But since you didn't actually read anything to begin with the point is moot. You "claimed" you helped someone on a thread which you can't post. Now you claiming someone else found the solution lol. Ill just let you do the search and see who is even posted regarding this. I grantee you not a single person who is talking about fail-pu was even in any of those threads period.
PS: I am actually waiting for another MT4G so I can hack it. Which is almost posted in every post since today. But then again since you didn't read you wouldn't know this as I only posted in threads regarding fail-pu to begin with. Its for morons like you that I get banned when I try to help the community and I get an uneducated idiot like you coming here don't have a clue on what you read or who you read from. Remember my avatar from now on I grantee you if anything intelligent was said would be coming from it. Do a single search on it and compare it.

I am sorry folks but this kid pushed me with his babbling. Since I am the only one who been doing this since he even knew what failed partition update was till last week. If he thought we had a solution it would already be posted it won't be a moot point. lol he says why I didn't make a thread. I got banned for talking about emmc hack in first place yet he wants me to make a thread about it. What I am saying can be verified by looking at the threads not by pretending he saved someone to begin with.

Did you read anything I said? How about this if your attempt fails and he bricks his device you pay for it. If you agree to those terms he will attempt your so called solution which you will find me say it on the oldest threads to begin with. If you agree and you must say YOU WILL PAY FOR IT. So he can send XDA email and obtain your info to file claim as you pay for the cost of the device. Am I getting though to you? The oldest post regarding this has me on it, almost all post regarding this has me on it if I was on at the time which can be verified though my avatar. Do you understand I was banned for this whole emmc fiasco to begin with? I would love to know other than suggesting putting PD15IMG.zip and pushing the recovery.img on mmcblk what other thing you offer atm. Which if you google.com under XDA narrow it down to MT4G you will see me post it. lol your trying to argue with the ONLY guy who was doing research regarding the emmc issue since 3-4months now. I want to so see that post where that guy recovered so I can send him a PM and have him post in here saying it didn't work and likly he bricked his device to the point it didn't turn on and he sent it to HTC for warranty replacement. HTC wildfire root problem. Firmware to new

Hello everybody
I want to root my HTC wildfire devices. For this I downloaded the unrevoked software with its drivers. After that I followed all the steps from xda forum. But at the last.... I am getting an error message about....firmware too new....(I m Frm my phn, do I can't provide the link or correct message).....please help me

That is an error you get with the newest update from HTC. This update contains the HBOOT 1.01. That can't be rooted using unrevoked. this is a post regarding the same problem
If you read a little more you see that AlphaRevX states they has the solution but it is not quite there yet.
As of now the only way to root it is to get someone with an XTC clip to get it s-off first.
there are allready a lot of posts in here regarding this problem.

Nope. But there is a beta testing going on for alpharevx, so there is already a solution in the pipeline. I'm afraid the only the that can be done is wait and hope it gets trough the test phase..
For the rest of your possible questions:
- nobody knows how long to wait, probably not even the dev's.
- the beta testing is "closed", which means that you have to be invited by the alpharev team personaly. I'm sure that they have enough wildfires to test, because they don't launch any questions for people willing to sacrifice there wildfire. So no need to contact them: if everyone sends them with the same question, then one can call that spamming
So again, sit back and relax, as it is the only thing that can be done now

step 1. read it again
step 2. make sure u have frameworks 2.0+
step 3. if u dont, get it
step 4. if u can figure that out, dont root
step 5. find freeway, play in it
*read read read that thread your answers should be there, there are many different ways to do it and other versions of SOC.

come on its a simple question. just someone give me instructions on how theyve rooted their phone. i understand how to research and read threads. ive done all that. im not a noob at this stuff. i just need help on this one little thing.

Come on dude you've been here since almost the beginning and you can't use SuperOneClick?
You literally open it, plug your phone in, and hit root...
Or you could be a little more specific to your problem other than "it just doesn't work"

I had to use soc a second time after reboot...1st SOC-reboot-no root-2nd SOC-reboot-root success!..jus do process twice
