Hello everyone!
This thread is going to be a little bit different compared to many other POLL-related threads around here on XDA-Developers, but hey, if the thread sucks - then just close / lock it!
Now on topic..
The idea behind this and why I'm spending a couple of minutes to writing this is because it just crossed my mind: How do you use your Xperia like? Are you using it primary for heavy gaming, texting / calling, as an music player or anything else that isn't mentioned here?
See this topic as something that can provide two things - fun details on other people daily, usage patterns, and also - it can also be helpful and useful for the ROM / kernel developers out there so they can get a little bit more information on the users different ways to use their phones. I mean, it's always easier to optimize a kernel / ROM / both toward more efficent battery saving, maximum gaming / multitasking performance or an combination of both (!) if they know more about the users various usage patterns!
Vote and / or comment if you want to!
Mainly Internet browsing, music, taking some pictures from time to time... And calling, texting as well, since it is a phone after all.
Aokp / Meow
Heavy Gaming, Browsing, Chatting, etc..
Very nice combo

According to the poll statistic, it seems like that multitasking is number 1 on people daily usage patterns. I wonder if this information (AND THIS TOPIC!) can be helpful for the ROM / kernel devs around here.. Hmm..
@DooMLoRD and @alnikki25k, is this topic helpful for anyone of you two in your development processes regarding feedback on how people are using their Xperia phones, together with your respective kernels..?
Both of you are open minded when it comes to adding functions, and this topic can help out a little (or a lot) on what the kernel stability and optimization should be focused on in future development related processes.. Or?

I'm currently using Buzz Kernel which overclock my device a little bit and bring about a little more battery usage, the OCUV version slow down my device so I start looking into other ways to save my tiny battery.
One day I noticed a software which can govern how to handle the apps in the background, so I switched it to 0, 0, 1(that means only 1 in background can live until next app was opened. None others will kept alive)(Too dangerous app, I hardly broke my sys so go and look for it yourself).
Now my battery lives long life although I'm still a comprehensively heavy user which play games on public transportation and do a lot of texting and calling. But apps' ability were limited to those do not need to work at background, just like iPhone4 do. (Apps work as a service are still working properly, such like most battery status apps).
Anybody interested can give it a try.

i got mine like, 2/3 hours ago ) i'm trying to test all the bits on this before flashing another rom on it (specially, because I haven't flashed a tablet ever) and i'm still trying to get KIES to work with this (though, i would only sync music, and i use doubletwist for that :d)
already rooted, gonna flash a ROM but I dont know what ROM to flash, all I really want is Cyanogenmod 9.
I only use it for Twitter | Facebook | Angrybirds nuffsaid'
If you use it for anything else , then idk .
oh and root it & add CWM & add a custom-rom .
Root it and add the ad-hoc wifi hack so you can tether to your droid.
As to what to do with it - ebooks. Isn't that what tablets were invented for? LOL
I got mine two-three days ago and first thing I did was root it, installed Overcome's ROM and then just messed with it a bit.
I usually tether my Galaxy S 4G, take my Tab everywhere I go & usually just browse the internet... Facebook, look on Engadget, games, and maybe some pr0n.
I'm starting to use it more than I use my phone, I lurve it. It's my life now!
Surfing and ebookreading. Watching tv shows and movies. Listening to music. Almost the same as on the sgs 1.

Apart from being connected to my inboxes and google reader, I found it great for "mobile" web-surfing with a bigger screen, e-books and pdf reading with repligo, note taking with writepad stylus and freenote.
I use it for my work.....marketing - photo and pdf presentations, keep marketing materials on them for my use, surf the net, read books via the Kindle reader app.
Mine has pretty much replaced my laptop, which is now consigned to mostly being a media server. The only thing I use mine for that hasn't been mentioned is Skype video calling and as a radio, I listen to shows on BBC iPlayer and TuneIn Radio.
I have mine running GalaxyTask 10.0 and I couldn't be happier. Absolutely amazing for a Honeycomb ROM.
Better than my HP Touchpad and all Gingerbread ROMs with the (equality) of Skyraider for the Thunderbolt phone.
Bedside book reader with Nook app (sideloading .epub), web browser, mail client, ski report viewer, Google Talk station, etc.

Running Galaxy Task as well and its a hell of a lot better than the stock ROM, if games could run smoothly then I would be perfectly happy with this tablet.

Hi all,
I premise that I'm an Android fan but.... how it is possible that even on high-end devices, such as my new Nexus 4, stuttering is often there?
I had a Nexus S before, and I knew that with such hardware I could not pretend anymore...
But now, with a QuadCore 1.5Ghz and 2GB Ram... I can say that:
1) Launcher operations, opening/closing apps, multi-tasking operations are really smooth;
2) Web browsing is really smooth...
BUT
3) Gallery often stutters in the grid view
4) Facebook stutters a lot when scrolling
5) Whatsapp stutters when images are in the conversation..
6) Camera sometimes stutters when taking a 1080p video
7) As I already said in another thread, some games (for example, Scopa of Whatwapp ent. which should be a really LIGHT game) stutters a lot (the strange thing is that on some low-end devices it is smooth)
I ran Antutu to verify if there was something wrong.. and I obtained 17,300 points with everything stock and about 20,000 with CM 10.1, which seems great results. I also tried with Franco Kernel..but I cannot notice any improvement.
Do other Nexus 4 owners (or of other high-end devices) have these issues?
Any solution that it is not to wait for Google to rewrite from stratch the way UI is managed?
Thank you
Facebook is a horribly written app and stutters on all Android phones.
Other than FB and the tapatalk app (and perhaps the gallery, as you've said, but that has to be really minor) my phone nerver stutters.
It's in the software. We all have to get used to it. It will never be like iOS and to which is why you chose to buy a Nexus 4.
Mine N4 has recently started stuttering too, :/ I don't really know why and was also quite confused because I know my phone is a higher end device.

I have to say that the Stock ROM appeared to me much more smooth than CM10.1..
However, I flashed it to have some features I use (different vibration pattern for SMS, customizable tiles, customizable auto brightness, etc.)
Imo 90 % of all glitches/stutters/lags etc are caused by user apps running in the background eating memory and cpu power and not by the OS. Just my 2 cents I have over 200 apps installed and do not xperience any stutters in gallery or in any other app,

Flickering bug is NOT resolved
You can still see how screen brightness goes up and down when you find yourself in low light environment.
But you can still resolve it like before... by unticking Adapt to lighting conditions in brightness adjustment

It's not a new feature..
My review: Its 13:13 hrs from when I restarted the last time (I was rebooting as i was activating modules) Then I played until 1% battery last night, then recharged all night until 6:00 am m.o.l today (Mexico :fingers-crossed: ) Then I leave it for 1 hour and a half I guess, it was near 8:00 when i started playing RR3 until my cars need to be repaired with only 1 mechanic xD, almost an hour of RR3, really smooth without any great overheting as it did on .201, I had to say, then i cheked messenger quick, next played MC4 starting from middle mission 9 until I finished it completely xD (mission 12) almost 3/4 hour, then I played injustice 40 minutes in total, as I interrupted for breakfast, any of this games had lag nor overheating....
To be continued.... (sorry I have more screenies so I need to make another post)
My review part 2: Next I continued playing Hungry shark for almost 20 minutes, so in total i got almost 3 full hours (or more) with full heavy paying, as screen shows almost 3 hours too, i have to say i use it at middle brightness with auto adapt, I still have 14%, no overheat, again...
To be continued.... (two screens more with RAM management for me)
My review part 3: RAM management.. yesterday I tried playing RR3 but FC when entering specific races, so I tuned minfrees i will give you them if you want later in this post..
Now its great, over 300Mb Free as RAM in recents show (gravitybox), dunno why when entering to settings/apps/running it decreases a lot, but exiting increases it again, as you can see I have messenger, facebook, there was injustice too, so I would say its parcially fixed as I had to tune the minfrees that's my review.. in general terms its smooth! better than .201? YES, it hasn't freezed, seems Massive Storage function isnt working yet, but i think is quite stable and blazing fast, now I don't miss my One X, f***ing 60+° when playing and 2 hour maximum playing 2d games xD my dualcore SPlendid phone is much better now! I love it :victory: what do you think?
oh yeah my minfrees: (do not blame me if they dont work for you, they work for me)
foreground: 8Mb (2048)
visible: 14Mb (3584)
secondary: 14Mb (3548)
Hidden: 130Mb (33280)
Content provider: 145Mb (37120)

Yeah the new firmware is really great. Really speedy. I had just a crash of the SMS application today, but nothing to worry about.
No more lags or forceclose. Really a small, but needed update.:good:
I ve got the Greek one .
I've been installing so many Roms to try to remove the scroll lag from facebook, I've turned off scrolling cache, overclocked cpu/gpu the only way i managed to reduce the lag on facebook was to set my governor to 'performance'
So i've finally found a better solution, i've found the archive of facebook apps from the facebook developer site https://developers.facebook.com/docs/android/downloads
Or a direct download to V10 https://developers.facebook.com/resources/Facebook-10.zip
The archive goes back to version 10 and it goes further if you are able to build the app yourself through SDK. I've found V10 is MUCH smoother than the latest version, more than likely because it is a 'lite' version compared to the new version. It doesn't have the in built video player or web browser and probably some other features i'm not aware of yet as i've not used it much yet but thought i'd share in case anyone else is stressing about facebook lag
Please note I did find you need to disable 'Chat Heads' from the messenger app otherwise you will get a glitch. Also there is still some small lag issues but it is massively reduced.
Hit a thanks if you found this useful please
Group of good developers should get together and modify Facebook application. Not only that app needs lots of optimizations but it's design is not quite good. There are a lot of concepts of material designed Facebook app which looks amazing.
Never had never will

I've found that if you use per app profiles and set the governor to 'performance' and set the clock speed to around 1500mhz you get no scrolling lag. I use franco kernel now as i've found it to be fast and the cpu temps are a lot lower than my last kernel.
I use m.facebook.com and the CM Browser. I set CM for full-screen mode and pin the Facebook bookmark to the home screen. It's just like the Facebook app but without the lag or the battery drain. Pretty much perfect.
