Go into download mode. Hold power + Menu + Vol Down, then click Vol Up.
Under KNOX Warranty Void if it's fine, it should say 0x0, if it is void, it should say 0x1

Power off your device and once powered off, reboot using the following method: Volume Up + Home Button + Power Button (all at once)
When you see the Galaxy Note 3 logo, let go
From the prompt screen, press Volume Up - in the upper left corner, if it says knox 0x0 (warranty is valid) if it shows 0x1 (warranty is void)
Hope this helps!

Cool Thnx for the help

I must assume you rooted the device, right? If you did, yes... you will have this notification, but AFAIK the only solution (to get back Over The Air) updates is:
1. Install Xposed Framework (a.k.a. Xposed Installer)
2. Tap on "Framework", then do it on "Install/Update"
3. Install Wanam Xposed
4. Open Xposed Installer, tap on "Modules" and check Wanam Xposed
5. Reboot the phone
6. Open Wanam Xposed, go to "Security Hacks"
7. Check (on System) "Fake System Status"
8. Reboot again...
9. Voilá, you can go back to updating OTA
Lemme know if it helped

Just noticed that my system status is showing up as modified. I have NOT rooted my phone yet and have no idea why this is happening. I was able to get the first OTA update from a while back but not the most recent one.

try to remove your sdcard and reboot your device without the card...
it might works fine after that... if this is the case, it means that your are affected by a bug present in Samsung's firmware for at least 2 years now.
The only fix so far is to format the card and put less file on it... what counts is the number of files and subfolder... not the total space used.
I've had the problem with a few thousand of m4a and mp3 in different subfolder... when I put all those files in a single folder, it worked fine.

Wow, you're absolutely right. Rebooted without an sd card inserted and it's back to normal. I guess I need to spend some time reorganizing my files this weekend. Thanks for the tip!

It is confirmed due to sdcard from my rooted note 2. After remove sdcard, the status change back offical.
Thanks everyone to discuss this problem.

this is probably the same case on all Samsung devices with 64GB card support that have this device status "thing" (had the same problem on my S3... saw it on a S4... and now on my Note 3).

On my phone, it doesn't say Custom because of the SD card, It says Custom because of the root.
On the first week when I got my device, I didn't root but I used up 40gb out of 64gb on my MicroSD, and my status remained Official. Not sure about this bug, maybe some have it, some don't.

I really depends on the number of files and number of subfolder too... not just the total space used on the SD card.
I was successful with 50GB of music files in one single folder (without any subfolder). But with the same files with subfolders for albums and artists, I had the problem.

taken the sd out workes

Thanks, this worked for me also.
BUT, after downloading the new update today, i can't install the update.
My phone boot's into recovery, tries to install the update, and then give me the following:
CWM-based Recovery v6.0.4.4

E: invalid command argument
E: invalid command argument

Installation aborted.
From what i understand there is an error in the update file, or should I change a setting on my device before updating.
Edit...
I just saw that the update hes a locked boot loader.
Is that the only difference in the update?

just to let everyone know...
I've done some testing with 3 different 64GB card.
One no so fast Lexar, Class 10
One Sandisk Ultra, Class 10.. up to 30MB/s read
and the last one, Samsung Pro (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147220)
Lexar never worked with more than 15GB of music... I always got the modified status beyond that point.
Sandisk Ultra worked for some time... stopped working... restart the device was fine... restart again and got the problem remove some files... and if I kept total files under 30GB, it was always fine.
Samsung Pro , which is rated at up to 70MB/s read and 20MB/s write was the best one... I synched different music files... filed all the card with only 200MB free space left and everything is still fine... I've rebooted a few times... erased some files, added some others and it's still perfect.
I think that there is some kind of timeout happening with slower cards... and because of this, we are getting the modified status at some point.
I'm sure that Samsung can fix this... but if it works with their cards, there is no reason to fix anything.
It would be interesting to see other results with fast cards like the Sandisk Extreme 64GB microsdxc card.

Hi,
I have since solved both of these issues and to give an update for anyone else who has this. The issue with the system saying its been modified was to do with the sd card and simply turning off the phone removing the sd card then restarting the phone and putting the sd card back in fixed it. The issue with installing apps was cause by another app I had running that applied an overlay to the screen so be careful and check the app you have running.
Thanks

Unable to download certain apps says " insufficient storage available"

Unable to download certain apps says " insufficient storage available" this is just some apps and there is sufficient storage as I don't have many apps. Also now I keep getting a notification "an application requires your attention" and it's google play services saying it needs an update when I install it it says "insufficient storage available" this started happening after I update to mf9 from the rooted older version. Also my phone now instead of taking only seconds to boot now takes like 2 minutes...
I'm on 4.2.2, mf9, rooted with cf root and I've only done a couple mods hotspot, camera ....

how would I go about doing that?
Go to cwm and go to backups and restore. Find an option that says delete backups.
Delete every backup and then make a fresh new one.
How big are your backups, generally?

I downloaded lucky patcher to see if it would work and clear the cashe but it did nothing. I can download any new app just can't update some.
The most space being used is the "system memory" which is using 6gb of data then the next one is apps but that's just 1gb

Try this old post I wrote but it seemed to work for a buddy of mine recently. Couldn't hurt to try.
I had this exact problem right after doing the hotspot mod off qbkings site. Eventually after clearing cache and resets I couldn't get the phone to make it through boot into Android. It was giving me google.transport errors or something. I gave up and ODINed the stock rooted mf9 rom back to it. Phone is fine now, has been for a week or more, but I'm leary of trying to hotspot mod again...although I really need it.

Your first problem was using qbkings site for files instead of getting them from the xda forum where the instructions and files are the correct ones. Almost all problems with the hotspot mod are caused by either installing the wrong file or a bad download of that file. You MUST know whether you are "ODEXED" or "DEODEXED", after you know that, then you need to make sure you know what firmware you are on, MF9, MDL, MDC. Once you have that info, you go to crawj's thread in the development section and download the correct zip file and install in recovery. If you matched the correct file with your firmware and odexed condition than you will not have any problems. I can't believe how many people rely on these how to videos that are usually so out of date that they are dangerous to follow.
Spoken like a true know it all...thanks.
Stock rooted MF9 ROM using the MF9 odexed version services files.
Xfered files manually via ESfiles. Causes issues with new installs...
I don't have a custom recovery to flash from. I odexed the ROM in there.
and alot of times, if not most, qbking references the original files on xda.
Try this!

Delete the Folder 'lost+found' in the system storage.. Works under CM 10.2
Use lucky patcher.
It shows insufficient storage because some file of the app already exists in your sdcard.(if you had installed the app before and removed)
By using lucky patcher, It automatically finds the unused .odex file and deletes it. You can then install the app successfully without any error

[Q] OMNI 4.4 on N7000

I installed OMNI 4.4 on my N7000 two days ago. Now i've some questions:
1. App2SD doesn't work, message: App couldn't move to SD. Why, the same app is moveable with CM10.2.
2. Yesterday my battery went down to 0% in less then 2 hours. The most energy is used by Google+, why?
3. How could i select if i want to used location based on GPS or on WLAN (or other wireless Networks)?

1) CM10.2 is based on Android 4.3, Omni is 4.4.x. Other than that, I don't know what might cause that to not work.
2) Google+ can be a SERIOUS battery hog. I had it kill my old phone's battery in 2 hours flat, but my new one it is fine on. Seems to be no correlation.
3) Go to settings, locations. It might be in your Google Account settings now. Check there.
Google made a lot of changes to storage with 4.4 - As it is older devices are barely working and having numerous weird issues with storage with the new changes.
Among other things, it used to be that Google used a special fuse daemon to do permissions remapping of /data/media to /sdcard on newer devices. Now they're doing the exact opposite - FAT partitions must be remapped using a special fuse daemon which seems VERY inefficient. I've seen media scanning on first boot take as long as 30-45 minutes, pegging the CPU. Seems to only occur on first boot though.
It kind of reminds me of the old 4.1 mediascanner issues but worse, since I think it affects any device with a FAT partition for /sdcard
I saw another nice Feature, take a look at http://sdrv.ms/1kt6BdJ But i don't run an OTA update...

Storage changes might be weird, but the inability to move apps to SD card and install some of the apps from Google store are down to enforcing Selinux for the n7000.
If you use terminal emulator to disable enforcing (su, setenforce 0) all the problems disappear and you can move and install stuff with no problems whatsoever.
Until you reboot, that is. Then everything moved and installed simply vanishes into thin air because the policy is back to enforcing.

[Q] 4.4.2 deezer problem

i was using deezer. today İ upgraded to 4.4.2. now i cant install. it says " storage device you used previous seems to have been removed.do you want to switch to another storage device?". i click yes but nothing happens. i cant use know , is there any solution for this?
S4 with android version 4.4.2 has a problem with deezer
I have the same problem in my galaxy S4 after upgrade to 4.4.2. Anyone has a posible solution?
This sounds like a permissions issue that a lot of 3rd party apps are having.
Due to Kitkat's security features only apps that are signed correctly & have the right permissions can use internal/external storge. They are allowed to read but not write. Until the app you want to install is fixed to be usable you won't be able to install it as it needs write permission to install on the sd card....
Simple Fix

I've had this problem, best way to get it working is to:
1 - Ensure app is not saved on SD card
2 - Force Stop app and clear app data

[SOLVED]
I decided to try myself and I found the solution, the credit goes for the XDA member "cocolopes".
Follow the procedure he describes here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537793
He uses ESF Explorer, that´s why permissions are not changed definitively, I used Root Explorer instead, and everything worked perfect, of course you need a rooted phone.

4.4.2 - Issues after update? SD Card Write fix?

Hi, I just wondered if anyone else is having issues after the Kit Kat update? Maybe we could start a list here.... I'm on the stock recovery and not rooted (and have been since day one). If you add issues, please could you tell everybody whether or not you're rooted etc.
1.Can't write files so MicroSD card using file manager apps (but I can do it if I connect the Note to a PC in MTP mode, then drag and drop files from internal to external storage
2. MC3 doesn't work - this one may bring about the end of civilisation as we know. No really, it might.
3. Stuttering when playing movies over HDMI to a TV (this was present in 4.3 too, but not 4.2.2)
4. Options to use auto-correct, double tap of the space bar etc when a hardware keyboard is connected do not work (this extra menu only appears when your keyboard is connected).
5. Various slow downs and pauses.
6. Battery life, as mentioned by foxxorrrorororors (approximate spelling)
7. GPS - still pretty bad for me, even with GPS Test....
Anybody else got the same, or perhaps other issues?
*UPDATE* I just tried a full factory reset and the microSD card write issue remains. You also can't write files to an external USB drive either. Clearly Nvidia doesn't have a very thorough procedure for testing these updates before pushing them to our devices. Muppets.
**UPDATE** If you are rooted, the tutorial in this thread fixes the write to SD card problem as far as I can tell http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617921
1. jup, vlc cant access sdcard either - seems they changed something here.

Sorry dude, I couldn't remember how to spell your username - too many letters for me
cars10k, thanks for responding - do you mean MC3 does work for your, or that you haven't tried it? Sorry if I'm being a bit dumb
Writing to Sd card was killed by Samsung in their KitKat update - apparently the permissions are set wrong in platform.xml. I don't know if this is the case for us. I can't even use Helium Backup to write to the MicroSd card. Darn.
yeah my sd cards isnt working either, moving or with es file man. that sucks i use it daily.....

Thanks
Reading files from the MicroSD card works fine, writing does not unfortunately

Yeah, I use it daily too. Really frustrating. I'm tempted to cut my nose off to spite my face and just take the tablet back to Currys. There's no point Nvidia throwing out updates with newer versions of android and extra features if they break basic stuff in the process (USB OTG hard drive unmounting being one example of something that was broken by the 4.3 update).

I think it's actually a KitKat thing: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...at-and-even-samsung-may-be-implementing-them/

Do you mean like the whole tablet becomes unresponsive at times? You can't even get to the home screen or turn the screen off? Then after anything from 30 second to 2 minutes it just comes alive again? I was experiencing that even before the update - with very few apps installed (same as my Sammy 7.7 which never froze). I've reset to factory and haven't had it again... Yet...

Ditto for me. I keep my vids on the SD card. Watched a couple today. Oh, and I've never rooted this; still stock.

Here's a thread about how to solve the problem of not being able to write to the SD card. You need to root first though unfortunately. On the plus side there's absolutely no reason why Nvidia Shouldn't push a fix out very quickly if they are paying attention.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617921
After rooting I used ES File Explorer. Before you can do anything, in ES File explorer turn on Root Explorer in the side menu by tapping the button next to that entry, then tap on the Root Explorer text itself to enter the options menu for root access. In the menu that pops up tap "Mount R/W" and press the radio button to mount "/system" as RW, then press ok. After that you can follow the instructions to edit the Platform.xml as laid out in the link above. I used ES File Explorer's in built text editor to do this. After you've made the changes to platform.xml, you to set the correct permissions for the file, again using ES File Explorer (long press platform.xml, press the menu button in the bottom right hand corner, then tap properties) change the permissions to rw-r-r-. That should be it, in theory you can now write files to external storage.

Thank you, thank you. I just spent about 3 hours trying to edit the file, but I couldn't figure out how to get the permissions to do so. That did it.

Hi, I just wondered if anyone else is having issues after the Kit Kat update? Maybe we could start a list here.... I'm on the stock recovery and not rooted (and have been since day one). If you add issues, please could you tell everybody whether or not you're rooted etc...

Google's KitKat is supposed to be restrictive on allowing apps to be installed to sdcard1, but you maybe able to trick installs using symbolic linked folders.
Damn this game mapper is awesome arcane legends rocks with it

Wiping dalvik cache isn't an option in the stock recovery on Kit Kat. I just looked a few mins ago. Wiping cache is there and I used it, but it still isn't solving the slow booting/loading time.

Ok You'll need root mode and either use a custom recovery partition options.

That's fine, I'm not going bother with rooting, I'm rolling back to stock 4.3. This whole kit kat update left a really sour taste in my mouth and rooting the tablet just to put in a dirty hack to fix it is ugly, IMHO. The fix isn't even guaranteed to solve it completely as others have expressed other issues. At least with 4.3, I know I didn't have much problems with it, and I need my sdcard for hosting files (25GB worth) for an app that putting them in the cloud isn't workable when I can't access them on the road or at places sans wifi.

Agreed. While I think Nvidia have done a great job at pushing out updates in a timely manner, the quality of those updates has been poor. Each time they have added some useful features, they have also either introduced new bugs or failed to fix existing bugs. On the one hand, I want the latest update due to the game mapper functionally and the fact that they fixed the bug regarding unmounting external hard drives (which they introduced in 4.3), but i don't want to have to employ a workaround to use my microSD card or an external hard drive freely. It's such a shame as this device has so much potential. I don't think I'll be buying the next Nvidia device.
To roll back to 4.3 involved installing unsigned drivers on my PC (a real no no) and unlocking the boot loader (which means my warranty is now void). What a stupid end user experience Nvidia and Google have created between them. At a time when I want to move away from rooting my device and flashing custom recoveries and ROMs they are actually making doing so more and more of a necessity. If I'm going to have to keep tinkering with my devices to get them to function in the way I want, then I would like a better OS that does less dodgy stuff with my data and is truly open....
