my journey to the note 3 - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

well I have been using a note 2 for a year now.my girlfriend has been using my note for the last year ( that makes it 2 years old ) it has a crack in the glass.
I called about upgrading one of the lines. was told sorry no lines can be upgraded ( you have one year left)
however you do have insurance till 11/14 but was told they could replace it.so we took it to the replacement center ( the girl was sitting on the counter cross legged). I told her what I was told on the phone. she told me that because the screen was cracked the warranty was void! WHAT ?
so a trip home and a call again to customer service. told them about the call the first time for the upgrade to the note 3 , the trip to the replacement center, the trip back to the house.
I get put on for about 10 minutes. she comes back on says you wanted the note 3 right ? yup take's my number to call me back.
1 hour later she calls back. here is the deal.
we can you get the note 3 with a new 2year deal.
im jazzed about it.
she tells me that they give it to me for $199 WOOT !!!!!
she sets it up. waves the 36 activation for me and going to over night it for free.
then she adds the taxes on it. says oh no that's to much.
DROPS THE PRICE OF THE NOTE 3 TO $ 149.99.
total price with tax $ 208
price of the phone 149.99 - 36 = $113.99 total cost of the phone
all for extending my contract for 1 year !
gets here tomorrow
my girl will get my note 2. we have to send back the note 1 with cracked screen

Yeah call them up when you get a chance and they will refund you £30 - I haven't done this personally as I didn't buy from JL but people on this forum got refunds when JL dropped price from £450 to £400 and @bu11d0g is saying he has got price match refund from the initial £480 price.
Thank you. I received the tablet under complex circumstances anyway. I actually didn't know I'd receive it since I got a cancellation email and was waiting for the refund from paypal (still waiting) to buy one again. I was initially going to wait, but then I got an email saying my tablet was being dispatched and effectively got charged for this tablet and right now my bank account looks like I've bought the tablet twice. I figured since it was too late to cancel and it would be arriving anyway I decided to keep it. I kind of regret it now lol but I do hope I'll be able to price match with them. Thank you for bringing this to my attention by the way!
White is all sold out online, but call your local store and you might be lucky. They will put it aside for you. My local JL had 3 white only left.
Okay I was told to do a price match form so hopefully they'll get back to me. If not I guess I'll call them up again.

Thanks for this info, otherwise I wouldnt have bothered walking into the store where they had loads in stock so bought a white one ... however the assistant first brought out a box with one seal broken (can't say for sure if she knew or not but I will give benefit of the doubt) but when I told her about it she seemed a tad shocked and got me another straightaway. Don't get why samsung don't just have that plastic film like on ipads or other devices as it would be plainly visable if it had been opened/tampered with. Oh well i have mine now so all is well :good:.

Thanks for that infomation, I filled out there online price match form last night, and got a conformation e-mail today telling me they have credited me the £30. Very happy (and somewhat surprised)
Bought mine online from them a couple of weeks ago and picked up in store. Emailed them earlier, reply this evening saying they are crediting my card with the £30 refund... great!

Wasn't sure where to put this but since it says 'John Lewis' on the tin I might as well. I got this tab from John lewis so if I were to return it or if it broke within the 2 year warranty with the Knox counter tripped, would they check it or would they just repair/replace it no questions asked. Saga Continues
Update:
So I called up my local John Lewis to check the store stock, they tell me they have the Note 10.1 2014 in stock so she says its reserved for you now so come into store and pick it up within 3 days. Me being all excited I head out for JL straight away. I get there, find an assistant...she pops into the back and walks out with a brown wooded box so I get even more excited - on closer inspection its a Tab 3 10.1, I tell her its the wrong one, she apologieses and pops back into the stock room and returns empty handed once again apologising that there is no Note 10.1 left. So that was a wasted journey and go home sad and empty handed.
So try 2...I call up on wednesday and once again I'm told they have stock and its on hold - I repeat many times "Note 2014" and even mension I've already had a wasted trip and she goes " I have personally placed it on the shelf myself", I was catching a domestic flight home and as soon as I land I make the way to the shop and the exact same thing happens, obviously I was a tad annoyed by this stage, I didnt really mind the first time as mistakes happen but twice!
The assistant understood my annoyance and in the end he said whenevever it comes back into stock I will get a £30 discount...so in total the tablet will cost £340...I left tabletless once again but atleast I will get a good deal whenever I do buy it. Patience is a virtue haha.

[Q] broken screen

A 2 year old grabbed my phone and well now my Note 3 has a very bad shattered screen.
Are those cell phone repair places any good w/ the Note 3 or should I just pay the $100 deductible for insurance and get another phone?

Pay asurion. I know someone who claimed their broken phone as stolen, so got to keep and sell the broken phone for I think 250 at the time, and get a new phone.
Well I submitted a claim and they are out of stock for the Note 3 White and they have it on backorder... how nice

That's what we call insurance fraud.
Got my new Note 3 today. NC4 4.4.2 and had to root it right away. I have HyperDrive on it now and loving it. This actually seems faster than my old Note 3 that got shattered.

Verizon Insurance Trick

First let me say this wasn't intentional. I had a note 4 that I purchased from Craigslist about 2 months ago. Recently, the screen stopped turning on. Its a long story but the warranty was voided. Since I needed a phone, I added a line and got an S6 intending to just pay the ETF on the new line and cancel it. So I put the note 4 on the new line and put the S6 on my primary line. When I called to add insurance, the rep put the insurance on the new line which has the note 4. Did I just luck out and can I file a claim and get this note 4 replaced?
I just didn't understood what you said (my bad english)... the only thing I know is that "Craiglist" is not a good page to buy high end phones like the Note 4. All I heard about people who bought phones via that page were complains about chinese clones, dummies (fake phones for showcase) or, like you, phones that suddenly stopped working. I just bought mine in amazon. A friend of mine travelled to NYC and recived the package. Zero Problems.

I received an defected s7 edge

Hey everyone, I just got my new s7 edge yesterday and I put it to charge last night and I woke up without any charge. I plugged it in into several different outlets and chargers. But nope, nothing could've saved it. I went to my local t-mobile store to see if i can exchange it for another phone but they said no that I have to send it in.. They told me that I could cancel the jump on demand and just finance the phone and pay 100 dollars down. Said no thank you. Now I have to wait another 7-10 business days just to receive my phone. I called customer care and they said they will try to help me out. On the bright side at least I still have my Note 5 :good: I am currently waiting for a call from customer care to see if they can do anything to expedite my process.
No need to make a thread about it and there's nothing customer care can do you have to warranty exchange and the device is back ordered

I just wanted to provide some insight just in case anyone is facing the same thing as me. And also to see if I am the only one that received a defected S7 edge.
That's odd because I am on the Jump On Demand program as well and the manager of the store I go to said if anything is wrong with it within the first 14 days to just bring it back to the store and they will exchange it out.

Did you get your s7 edge online by pre order or in-store purchased ?
When I have my Note 5 with JOD on 1st day when device release, the screen get dark in some spot on screen after 1 day of use, I went back there and they replaced for me to another Note 5 without any hold or problem , because still under 14 days , everything will be with T Mobile store if you get in store purchased , only send it back if order online.
If you get it by in-store , you can go to another store to replaced without sending device back and waitting ...

Online or in-store is the same 14 days . The thing different between where you get them ....
Pre-order in store mean the store help you order it to ship it to you , it mean device come to you by shipping ( online order ) , I think that's why they can't replaced in-store ...
Order in store , you got device by them directly , no shipping or anything , defected happen just give it back and get new one in 1 2 3
I pre-ordered on 2/23 received phone on the 3rd only to find a dead pixels. So when you get your phone. Turn the brightness down low. Because when bright I didn't see the dead pixel. Anyway I call customer care. They told me to send phone back.

Warranty Claims So Soon!

Anybody else have a warranty claim due to defects? Let's log them! I have a defective headphone jack. I'm going to wait 'till Sammy gets caught up supplying phones to everyone before I even think about sending it in. Meanwhile where is that Bluetooth headset...
I had one that kept rebooting on its own. I tried flashing the latest firmware and still rebooted. After T-Mobile telling me it's too new to the a standard manufacturer warranty claim, they told me to swap it out at the store for a brand new device. No issues since.

Nice, it is good to hear they switched it for a new device. Did you stick with snapdragon or go to the exynos version?

If he swapped it at store it had to be Snapdragon, T-mo doesn't have Exynos unless it's European branch?

I had to do a warranty claim on a T-mobile variant... it kept dropping signals. They simply replaced it with a brand new one in the retail box. The whole transaction only took a week with free two-day shipping both ways.

Got mine on Wednesday 11, set everything up. Thursday around 12 phone just went black. It felt warm so thought it was processing something... Hooked up transfer adapter and plugged into S7. It started charging the s7. Co worker had s8. I asked him to power down his phone, and put in adapter. It wouldn't charge. Took back the replaced.. Also I did try holding down power button to force reset nothing.

Well my issue was with the gs8 TMobile, may happen to note 8 due to having same screen. I basically had a bad digitizer... Phone just became unresponsive... I called up let tech know I ran through all troubleshooting steps... Started return process had a new phone overnight ship to me.
Again so far the note 8 has been a dream, but that was with gs8 approx 3 weeks ago..

I had a Day 1 claim. My first one had a dead pixel, called it in they over nighted me a new one. Before I returned it I put in the Samsung promo for the first Note 8.
I now have the free Gear 360 camera, Wireless Charger and Memory card for my troubles! :laugh:

I had light leakage on the sides of the glass. Sent it in to Samsung repair in Texas on the 12th of last month. Received it back about 2 weeks later. I mean they fixed it, but they ended up replacing like half of the phone for some reason. I'm surprised they even had the parts for repairs.
My microphone stopped working about 4 days into ownership (Snapdragon; Orchid Gray). I could only make calls and do voice-related activities by headset or BT.
Being within the 14-day remorse period, I was required to purchase a new device (so I switched to Black this time) and send my defective one back in. At first, they wanted to charge me shipping $6.99 and sent it on the slow boat. I had to call back and request that another agent fix that. They charged me $24.99 for expedited, but then credited that back to my account. So, I will be having a new device soon, but it's such a hassle. I really hope there are no issues with this next one, My Note 4 lasted me 3 years and I still have it by my bedside.

Did you buy direct from Samsung or from your carrier? I bought from Sammy and since there are so many backorders I figure I won't get a replacement fast. Thus, I'll wait till the dust settles, but I like listening via the earbuds rather than bluetooth.

I ordered from T-mobile TeleSales group in order to get the $125 promo along with the BOGO promo.
They've got plenty of devices, so it was just a matter of ordering more. Unfortunately, the store is hoarding their supply for their own sales rather than use them for serving a TeleSales customer since they do not earn money at the store-level.
