Hey, I've recently bought a fake Galaxy S4, from someone who pretended the phone was genuine.
The phone works really good, and has many features of the genuine phone, the phone has only one issue, the phone battery indicator is not very accurate.
If I charge the phone to 100%, I use it normally and the battery decreases normally untill 70-60 and it suddenly drops to 15%.
The phone has root and I've calibrated the battery twice, but no result so far. What can I do?
You can buy products in Vietnam or you can see "Vietnam" underneath the battery cover, however, you should believe that China has produced it. The official Samsung products are manufactured in Vietnam (Product made in Vietnam by Samsung) and China knows it.

You're using an admittedly fake s4, and trying to get help on a real s4 forum? Good luck with that.
I'd suggest getting a REAL s4.. then you may get better assistance. There's not much anyone can help with since the hardware is completely different, and likely software too..

I'm sorry you didn't like the response.. Fact of the matter is, there are too many differences in the real and fake devices internally. You can't flash a kernel, modem, boot loader or even a ROM for a real s4 and expect it to work. If your battery doesn't calibrate with calibration apps, there's not much anyone can do for you on a fake device.

The problem is, most of the people who has this type of clone doesn't have this battery related problem.
I just need all the tools to be able to flash it (a new clean ROM), root it again, and install CWM recovery, and then maybe I can install a new kernel.
I pretty sure this is a software related problem, not a hardware one...

This may be true, but you're likely not going to find what you need in this forum, since all the tools, ROMs, etc are for actual devices..
On the same note, though, the real s4s that exhibited similar issues were battery related.. Perhaps a new battery?

This clone is shipped with 2 batteries (W/O NFC, anyway the NFC doesn't work on any of them)
The problem is there, with any of the batteries. On the one which is labeled Near Field Comunication, the battery drain is less worse.
I'm sure the batteries are fake too, and their real capacity would be close to 1500-1600, not 2600, but why is this sudden drop in the battery reading?

What would you think if I come here with a problem with the software or a battery with my LG optimus black cell phone? Could you help me if you have not got that LG model? This is the same issue, you have a non Samsung battery, you have a non Samsung phone so, how do you expect we can help you apart of helping you to know that your phone is a fake? You have a different phone, and if you read a bit you will know that if you try to flash any s4 official rom, you will brick your phone.

Hey, do you know something?
I didn't started this thread. I searched "fake Galaxy S4 xda", and this was the first result. XDA doesn't got a "Clone forum" or something like that, so this is very close to my problem, because this phone is a copy of the original S4".
I posted my question for people who really want to help me, not people who just post to increase the post counter. Afterall, what's your problem?

You don't understand, you have not a copy of a s4, if so, you could flash any s4 rom or something with no problems, you have a different phone with "Samsung s4 adhesives". If you think I am not helping you when I said if you flash any s4 official rom will brick your phone, then you have a problem, man...
Anyway, this thread was opened by a guy who didn't know if he had a real or fake s4 and we helped him. if you would read the xda forum rules you would know that here, it is off-topic.

Well I hope i have some answers for some of you who are having this overheating issue. Being that I am on my second GS4 in less than 4 days due to overheating. This is what I got from a sprint repair store who confirmed a couple things for me. One thing he confirmed is the GS4 has poor air-circulation and when the back cover is on it dissipates heat poorly, just like the GS3 and 2. H,,, wondering why samsung didnt address this issue. Second thing he confirmed it that anywhere from 45-60 percent of the batteries are defective to the point of getting hotter than they should, and roughly 15-20 percent of those could cause permanent damage. He said sprint is trying to develop a different backing for the phone to promote better air circulation to help cool it due to the amount of power the phone has, though he wasnt sure when it would be out. Also an update was sent out today and hopefully a heating problem was included within this update.
So my 2nd GS4 was tested and it had a defective battery. I was told if this one has the same issue then I can go back to my note 2. I am thinking I would rather have a stable phone over a faster phone. Hope this helps some of you. Also those who are having this heat issue do not let the phone charge overnight, or charge the phone with the back off. I know it isnt practicle but until samsung fixes the issue we have no other options. Also underclocking doesnt seem to help all of them
If this helps please send a thanks i would appreciate it
I have three batteries so far. One original that came with the phone. One Samsung OEM that came with an external charger that was shipped from south Korea and a Hyperion. None of them overheat. If these batteries are like anything from the laptop fiasco years ago, with faulty cells overheating to the point where the device catches on fire violently.... From what I've seen and what I've been told by a friend that repairs electronics, li on batteries aren't to be messed with. If they go bad or short, you could have a fireball or grenade in your pocket.
Why would Sprint be making a different backing to prevent overheating? Did you mean Samsung?

yes thank Samsung not Sprint
I don't follow other carriers s4 forums. I haven't read any issues on phone sites about this being a wide spread problem. The battery door is the same, or should be the same, between carriers, just different printing on the door. I don't know if OP overclocked at any point. That might have caused later issues. It could have just been a battery that tested OK at the factory, but a cell developed a problem later and started screwing up. Judging by my personal experience when I bought my phone, the original phone I wanted was black but was missing the sim out of the box. I had to take the only remaining s4 they had, which was white . Other people reporting screen issues, and other things, makes me come to the conclusion that Samsung's quality control isn't doing their job or is being told to ship units anyways.
Interesting.
Did you say update today

if 40%-60% of batteries had overheating issues this forum as well as regular News sites would be filled with stories about it.
Aside from the fake story about poor sales that caused a Samsung stock tank I have not read any news articles about defects or problems endemic to the S4.
First of all, what part of the phone feels warm to you? I'd be willing to bet that it's on top by the camera rather than in the middle by the battery. All it means is that you have a phone with a really powerful CPU and no heat sink. The battery isn't the problem. The SOC just runs kind of warm. No cause for alarm.

Thought about installing a small fan in the back. I micro fan that turns on when the cpu area gets warm enough would be bad ass.

Actually you would of lost the bet. lol it is actually on the front of the screen where the battery is. Which also tells me the phone has an issue getting rid of heat. Yes i know screens get warm, but there i diff between warm and so hot the phone shuts off ( i dont use the adjust brigtness auto so please dont say that is the problem). I went back to sprint yesterday and they had the second GS4 I had in the back for three hours, when they were finally done they let me know that they had no fix for it and the manager proceeded to tell me he had 15 GS4's in the back with the same issue. So he said if I was not comfortable with the phone he would give me a new Note 2, so that what I did. I cant believe that samsung would put out such a powerful phone with little to no heat sync. Pretty disappointed

They are actually all over the Sprint community forums. Know I cant vouch on validity of what I was told about a new back in the works all I can do is post my findings here in hopes others will see it. I did not post that to be scrutinized or questioned. It is a known issue the GS4 has a overheating problem you ca call any sprint repair store and they will tell you, and look at the sprint forums. Now he could of said that to get me to stay in the GS4 but I have had many phones and never had an issue with overheating and shutting off.
You also cant say it isnt true. Just because you cant find it doesnt mean it isnt in the works. Just think if they posted that online. Do you know how many upset customers they would have? I think it is smart not to post it until there is a confirmed report done by either samsung or sprint about this issue. Right now all they have are many phones with this issue and the folks who are bringing them in to be checked.
Very interesting.

lol i work for sprint also, so let me guess your going to say you work for samsung part-time. You must not know to much about the company you work for. yes they are forums, forums that sprint monitors to see what is going on, because lets face it not every customer reports their problems to a repair center. Also maybe you didnt get the memo

I have a china s4 clone that won't connect to the mobile network for more than a couple of seconds. What tells me that it's not a hardware fault (antenna) is that it does connect for a few seconds at 3 bars but continuously cycles between signal / no signal / airplane mode. I have bought heaps of phones from china, i'm not sure what to make of this. I have rebooted and even done a factory reset. I have an old virgin sim in it (5 years old) and it seems to find the optus network fine and put in the relevant APN. I have even changed the APN to virgin specific stats. (it had a lot of issues with old data on the sim such as logs/sms, deleted them when in my old phone and now it's fine and doesn't bother me with the input tag message.) I could go get my newer sim cut down to fit but I thought I would ask in xda first.
it also keeps saying restricted access changed in the top bar when it does this cycling, another reason i think the antenna is fine. this is really depressing me.
i'm thinking it is a problem with the sim, if the newer sim works i'll post here and let the next person with this issue know

the more guesses the better i mean, i've heard reports of people having very similar issues with genuine s4's actually. things like, sim card not making proper contact and also the "IMEI" was not on the telco's whitelist (apparently a blacklist isn't secure enough for them). S4 Clons are so different from original s4 as HTC one from LG G2 is... So why did you choose this forum instead HTC one forum or a Nokia forum?
Anyway, if you are really sure your issue is the same issue as some original s4, i would suggest to open a new thread explaining again your problem and this time don't write you have a s4 clon. People will give you ads thinking it is a original s4, and if you were right you will not brick your clon if anyone suggest you something incompatible to your clon. But consider this: if you brick your phone because doing anything compatible to our S4 but not to your clon, you will be the only responsible.

Actually, you completely missed my point OP (as I expected you would). My point was, why should anyone fumble around & waste their time helping you when you're dopey enough to buy a knockoff device you obviously have no clue how to troubleshoot if something goes wrong ?
I haven't & won't.
Because there are enough people who do the right thing & buy genuine devices to help here without helping bozos who buy devices from 'manufacturers' (term used loosely) who break god knows what international trade laws & violate who knows how many patents by making these things.
That was my point.
Your point about the cost of genuine devices was bull****. Plenty of manufacturers make great devices with tons of features at price points well below the S4/other similar devices.

I think you completely missed my point, which i thought you would. I bought the phone because it was the best android phone I could find for the price, not because I wanted an S4, which I don't.
and I will say it again, this thread has been moved here by a mod so don't ask me why I posted here because I didn't.
It clearly isn't the best android phone for it's price if you can't connect to a mobile network mate.
Chinese phones have a lot of issues, the build quality and QC is bad and cheap.
I'd just go and buy a second hand S3 or S2, that's probably the same price and would be miles better.

this is the problem with XDA. somebody doesn't know the answer to the question but they just have to give their opinion about something nobody asked for on a subject completely irrelevant. Did I ask for the best alternative phone? Did I ask for an opinion on chinese QC? If you don't have anything to contribute to fix a problem as described, with the phone as described, in the OP, then don't reply.

You would be right if this thread would be posted in his corresponding device forum, but it doesn't. People here knows a lot of issues for their s4 device, but not necessarily for other devices as s2, lg, Nokia, unbranded as yours..., and if they knew, they would answer to move it to the correct s2, lg, Nokia or unbranded devices forums before giving a possible solution. Yes, we don't know how to solve your issue, mainly because we have never touched your model device, as neither we wouldn't know how to solve same issue for a, for example, htc one, because we don't have got a htc one...
Where did you originally posted it? Search the correct forum for your brand (generic devices, other devices, unbranded devices, Chinese devices...) and post it there, and if you don't find it in xda, you will have to search for it in other forum platform if you really want anyone help you...

Some people dont like being told the truth. This thread has been cleaned up already because the OP descended into posting abuse, and accused everyone with an s4 that they were fools for buying a "proper" s4.
His justification was that he cant afford a proper s4.He has already been told xda doesnt support clones, and in life you get what you pay for.
One good thing to come out of this is he shouldnt have any current or future problems with knox!

I'm assuming the mod knows better than me and actually took the time to read what the post was about before he moved it so HE thinks it's in the best place. nuff said. Also I could give advice on any brand of phone, and any operating system on any machine. the amount of knowledge would differ depending on the subject. Believe it or not you may be completely stumped at non s4 questions but there may be people like me who wouldn't be. The firmware seems to be "heavily inspired" by an S4 as well so S4 knowledge could be quite relevant if the problem is firmware based.

Ok, you win, if you are right and it is true your firmware is "heavily inspired" by an S4, here is the solution for your issue any of us would apply:
- download last firmware update from here and loaf of into odin: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9500&pcode=0#firmware
- enter in download mode (if you are able to...), by pressing pwr+home+vol- (our s4 enter here successfully... Does your "s4" enter?
- flash and enjoy your bricked s4 (our s4 will not brick applying it)

Lol it's a forum mate, people can say what they like (within reason) and I was actually giving you good advice. No need to be rude.
A genuine second hand S2 is a lot better than a clone S4, simple. Not my fault you've bought a piece of rubbish and now can't fix it.
No idea why a mod moved this question here, it's as good here as it is in a Sony Experia thread. The firmware on your phone isn't based on TW at all, it is just made to look like TW.

10 months have passed since it's release..So, is the Samsung Galaxy S4 is still worth buying ? I heard alot of problems occurring in it such as : Overheating, Bad Low-Light camera and lag....I'd like anyone who had/have the phone to tell me if these problems are really occurring and if i should go for it. Thanks in advance and sorry if the question is in the wrong place but I'm new here

What about Overheating and lag ? Do you face any of those problems ?
Phone gets very, very hot under heavy usage. The top of the screen is 50°C easy. But it doesn't "overheat" as such, the phone doesn't stop working. This phone suffers with lag, like any other phone, but TouchWiz doesn't help it.
I wish I got the HTC One instead. This is by no means a bad phone, but the HTC One is better.

Well, I'm not looking for a flawless phone. I know every phone has problems. After all i'm changing from a Nokia C5-03 to a Galaxy S4 so that would be a HUGE improvement. However, It's better than the S3, right ? I mean the S3 also overheats and such or it works without problems ?
Mines doesnt have any of that problems, because I remove all the crap from a rom and it only uses 600mb ram.
But it does suffer from knox....lol
Well, I decided to buy it after all but i guess i wouldn't root it because i'm a complete newbie and i might do something wrong. Thanks anyway for all the replies it really helped
Dont do anything to it until you read about knox/even samsung updates. Also reading other peoples problems on here shows what can go wrong.

I would say that you should at least wait till 24 feb as s5 is expected to be announced on 24.
If the phone really gets what the rumours say then you should wait till april and buy s5 instead of s4.

Have had the phone since launch. Originally came from ios (iphone 2g, 3g, 4, and 4s).
Mind you, I have TMO variant, so my experience may vary with others with international version.
I love the large and clear screen. I don't experience any heat issues not lag of any kind. My battery lasts long enough, just have to charge before I sleep.
I have used google edition roms, and currently using touchwiz stock.
Also, love the wireless charging.
MicroSD I have in the phone allows me to have many music albums as well as couple seasons of my favorite TV show.
Hope it helps!

Can you guys post a photo or at least a description how does the BSOD look like in your case, when does it happen and what happens after that (ie. everything gets back to normal after a few secs or you need to reboot or it reboots automatically...).
To be honest: I have P905 - absolutely the same hardware and a little different firmware - and never experienced anything that might be called a BSOD....
Mine would blue screen and restart after about a minute. Sometimes I would have to do a hard reset but usally it would restart itself. After it would happen once it would happen every few minutes.
It's not the exact same hardware. The AT&T version has the 4G hardware that yours doesn't have or doesn't use.
Samsung fixed mine and said it is a part the grabs updates from AT&T. It was unable to update and that is what was causing it to blue screen and restart. Strange because even when I shut off the data it still blue screened but whatever they replaced it is defiantly fixed.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using XDA Free mobile app
I have the att version. I'm rooted and stock firmware. Never seen the bsod. I bought mine day one.
Drew489, I wish it would be a software issue too but I'm thinking it is a hardware issue. Been looking at forums lately and a lot of the SM-P907A's are experiencing this BSOD. Everytime I'd have to go to recovery mode in order to restart the tablet or it wouldn't turn on at all. I've had it happened 3 times in the past month since I've owned it. It was usually when I was playing clash of clans or watching a video. I've tried clearing the cache (BSOD once after trying that) and then finally doing a factory reset as recommended by the Samsung technicians. It hasn't BSOD since I've did the factory reset but right now I'm trying to do a firmware restore through Kies. If this doesn't work then I'll be sending it for warranty repairs.
I got the P905 so I'm not having this problem, but.. Have any if you tried checking any logs if they can tell what's causing freezes/reboots? If one could find out what's causing it, maby someone is able find a way to fix it?
I sent mine back they replaced the lcd...blue screen hit me today again. .I am calling tomorrow to send it back again. .. never again will I buy a Samsung tablet

You do realize this is a problem that only occurs on the P900 and the AT&T version, and not a generic Samsung problem? Not a single P905 is afffected.
It's like saying 'I will never buy a Toyota, because one type in France had problems with the brakes once.'
Wow you made zero point again.. Sorry I was busy responding to your first reply before you edited it... Toyota and brakes??? What do u smoke??
I don't care about the Wi-Fi version this is a issue I had for awhile.. I wrote the original post in general months ago http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-pro-12/general/wth-blue-screen-fade-to-black-t2856774 You trying to sum it up the way you did makes no sense but to use your logic. If I was to buy a toyotta and had brake issues and they refused to fix it for me , being a manufacturer defect. Then wouldn't I be a fool to continue purchasing from someone that does not stand behind there product???
Now I admit my response was somewhat knee jerked but I am fed up with owning a high end tab I can only use when the tab allows me to before it goes blue.

So just to be clear, you are saying the Samsung Exynos chip is not a "generic" Samsung ..... Using the Qualcomm chip makes it a generic Samsung? I suppose I can understand the logic since Qualcomm is the dominant chipset, but when I think generic samsung I think pure samsung which means exynos in my mind.
Either way I want these random reboots to stop.

I was refereeing to the fact some uninformed people seem to think the Wi-Fi version and the att version share the same chip set. They do not... I didn't refer to anything being generic.. I stopped the reboots after I rooted by installing xposed and downloading a Samsung reboot module. I can't remember the name off hand... I think it was actually for the s4 but works with our tabs..907a

Yeah, when I updated the ROM I totally forgot about that setting in Wanam Xposed. I just checked it a few minutes ago and here's hoping this is all it was. Of course it'd be better if Sammy fixed the bug in the first place and we didn't need Xposed modules to solve the issue, but I digress.

Yup but Samsung has a bad habit of abandoning tablets software wise, once it's out it's out. Given the carrier devices are more of a piston because I think the carrier dictates updates

Been out of the G4 community for awhile but thinking about getting one (I found a deal that's pretty cheap on a working model) - did something change with an update that has now proven to be a problem for the bootloader and being unlocked?
I'll do more research of course but I figured I'd just ask and see if that gets me the info faster.

it plays a role but this just makes the problem show up earlier. very slim chances if you get a 601 onwards.
It's 'dead' because of bootloader obviously. Bootloop causes people to go away from this phone, but we would have something left after them. We don't even have a proper G5 Port while G3 is rocking it for a year... More of that, we can have Nougat UX 6.0 port 'easily' but it requires experts to work on that. 2015 was a hard year for smartphones. Every of major phones was a flaw. G4 bootloop, S6 RAM battery camera, HTC M9 was bad at everytbing, Sony? It's just Sony who buys it. Till nexus 6p(which also loops?????) there wasn't a good phone in 2015. 2016 is much better. We got Galaxy S6 2.0(or did they call it S7 afterwards to increase sales? jk), we had HTC comeback in style, LG failed once again, OnePlus released their best phone. Compare those two years... 2015 is at loss

No, actually it's an F500S, oddly enough. Because I live in Las Vegas and we have tourists from all over the planet here constantly there's always a chance that when I buy a device from someone on craigslist it's either a lost one that some tourist left behind in a cab or at a bar or something or somebody flat out stole it from them and the risk is that it'll be blacklisted. This one I just bought for $35 is working, in good condition but with some cosmetic issues on the frame, the front glass it pristine without a mark on it thankfully. It was apparently sold by SK Telecom so it's the Korean model (I think, I literally just got home and sat down as I'm typing this).
I have no idea what it's capable of but it does have a PIN code lock on it. I put my T-Mobile SIM card in it and it connected fast so I know it'll work but I've got to do some research on either bypassing the PIN code lock or just doing a clean flash of the factory ROM (if I can track that down) and going from there. It could always have the Google FRP on it so I'd have to figure out how to get around that as well (there's always a way it seems, sometimes it's just a pain in the ass to do it but it can be done).
So, at the moment it works, no guarantees if it'll suffer from the bootloop, of course, but the serial number is 505KPMZxxxxxx and the date code on the battery is 2015.04.28 so it literally is a 1st production run model.
I know it could die at any moment, sadly, but I'll see what happens. I don't play games on smartphones so really the only time a smartphone ever gets warm because of CPU usage in my experience is running a benchmark like Antutu (which I'm just not going to do with this G4, I know how it performs already) or installing a ROM/the initial first boot which churns along like crap by design.
Wish me luck...

my stock oem its getting weak. i used accubattery and out of 3000mah it charges 1880mah.
still have another trend on 3000mah that last like stock.. i use fecebook app. since my carrier gives me 9GB and i must use the app not browser.. i get around 3 hour using data connection and with trend on i get 4 hour.
are you charging yours with battery in phone and stock charger or you take battery out and use a separate charger. they say our phone stops at 3000mah if you have 5000mah or 8000mah. wich battery you got?
