So I've been getting this message occasionally the last few days, and voice/calling does indeed get disabled. A simple restart gets me back up and running for a day or so.
I am rooted but I specifically only noticed this since replacing my mobile hotspot provisioning app with the modified version from the dev forum.
Anyone else ever get this? It's a system notification in my task bar. I'll grab a screenshot next time. Think it's something to worry about?

Couldn't find any similar threads, but I've found a problem which seems to be unique to our phone. If I'm trying to add a new check in location in the Facebook app it doesn't work. It simply says that the search returned no results. Everyone else I know has the option to add a new location. Even my old phone was able to. I checked on my wife's galaxy and we are using the same version of the FB app. Can anyone confirm this on their Nexus? Any solutions? I've attached a screenshot so you know what I mean.
Try resetting the app from the settings menu... Clear the cache data and everything and make sure gps is on that's all i can think of right noe

I did a complete reinstall if the app. GPS shouldn't matter, its very weird.
Bump
Anyone at all can confirm this happens to them??
This does not happen to me at all. And just as a test I was able to search and add a new place. No issues. Maybe reinstall fb.

Thanks for checking. I reinstalled twice already. Are you able to tell me your location settings?
All my settings in Facebook are checked. 1 hour sync interval. Location enabled etc. Have you checked your location settings on android itself to make sure its on.

Yeah, everything is on. Very strange
OK, so here is something weird. I turned on WiFi and it works fine, but on T-Mobile H network it gives me the "no places found". Why would that be??
I never had that issue at all even on hspa aka T-Mobile network or WiFi. I just wonder if your an isolated problem. Or it won't work via mobile to add a new place.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
What's weird is that it works on WiFi. Then when I turn off WiFi it still works. But if I restart my phone it won't work again until I connect to WiFi. Annoying!
Hey,
I updated my phone about 5 days ago to the latest 4.3 and since then I've lost my 3g connection. It has been there a bit but today it's completely gone and hasn't come back.
Tried turning it on/off, switching to airplane, changing from WDCMA to GSM and running in dafe mode. Nothing works.
Does anyone know what the issue is and how to solve it?
I should point out I'm not very tech savvy and don't know all the lingo so go easy on me
Thanks!
Post a screenshot of Settings > About Phone and scroll to the bottom. Is your phone stock or rooted?
Check your APN under mobile networks. Make sure you have an APN .

Hi guys I need your help, I have had this note 3 for 1 month I notice that my data keeps dropping in and out but yet I have 3 to 4 bars of signal, I have pulled Sim card out and also did a soft reset but still the same problem I am wondering if this is a common problem or should I just take back the note and get a refurb note.

Hey, are you rooted or pure stock. If you're rooted I'd try flashing a different modem in Odin here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47400062
If you're pure stock and not rooted at all, I'd probably give big red a call or stop in at your nearest store for a replacement.

Thank you for this. I am running stock rooted NC2. Going to try the NC4 file to see if it helps. Both data and voice have not been great on my phone lately. Even text messages have failed sometimes.
Are these instructions correct?
-download modem file, extract
-start Odin.
-Select "phone" and fetch the modem.bin file.
-Only thing checked should be "Auto Reboot"
-Put phone in download mode
-Plug in USB
-hit Start
-reboot

I'm on vacation right now so I can't completely confirm but the modem file should show up in the ap slot. It varies from phone and area but nc4 works great for me. Some people are using the mje modem on kk. It's a trial and error for you. Hope it's just the modem and not your phone.

I experienced this issue when running on GSM networks, i fixed my data stability issue by adjusting my APN settings and changing a couple of uncommon things such as adjusting mvno type to IMSI, bearer type to LTE, and removing the port for data (not MMS!), and fixed my signal stability issue by upgrading or downgrading the modem depending on what rom i was running.
If I am under verizon because they do not use GSM how do I Change apn setting and also whatever else do I have to change on a non rooted phone.

I'm not quite sure why you'd need to change APN settings if you're still on verizon (unless you're using a network that runs off of verizon towers). But the answer to your question is go to settings > mobile networks > Access Point Names. You'll need to leave MCC and MNC as they are. Those change based on what kind of network you are connected to. If you change those your APN settings will not save.
Hi Christaina do you think by changing those setting will help my phone from dropping data on and of while on foxfi and surfing the net
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The only reason I ask is I have unlimited data and I use this for all of of my needs and I cannot afford to have data dropping so much

That honestly sounds like a modem issue but could potentially be fixed by apn settings by actually setting the authentication type, APN type set to default, hirpri, internet, mms I don't know any of the verizon APN settings because im using this phone on straight talk through AT&T towers.
flash MJE modem
Thanks

Hi, I bought a used Nexus 4 off eBay with Android 5.0.2 (edit: 5.0.1) on it. I'm trying to use it with MetroPCS. I can send/receive calls and texts on it, but I have no data connection. Wi-Fi is working.
I've tried taking the sim card out/in and I've also tried every APN setting for MetroPCS I can find, with no luck. Any other ideas?
This may not be the issue but worth a check: Check under "settings", "data usage", that setting "cellular data" is set on. It somehow turned off on mine once and resulted in the same symptoms.

I forgot to mention I checked I that too. I think I've checked most of the likely culprits by now.
Are you sure it's on 5.0.2? There is no official 5.0.2 factory image for the n4 so you must be on a custom rom. I'd flash back to the 5.0.1 factory image and see if it works then

Oops, yes, I checked, it's on 5.0.1. Don't know where I got the idea it's on 5.0.2.
After I update my s10 plus to android 10, the mobile hotspot no longer works. When I slide the status slider to "On" it automatically turns "Off" without any message or error indicator.
I tried force restarting, reset network settings and wipe cache partition on recovery.
My device is running with the original software.
note: when trying to turn on mobile hotspot while wifi is "on", it will go laggy and restart the phone automatically.

Try forcing prl/profile update. For me its under software update. If its not an option there Google for your carriers dialer code for it. Basically your apn's are misconfigured. It seems apn's are a little different with android 10 vs pie.

I don't have Wi-Fi hotspot or those settings in software update.

Im thinking its a carrier specific setting then. There's usually still a carrier dialer code though. Otherwise can always talk to their support to have them remotely send the command.

Network signal info app or similar provides the carrier code.

Thats just the MNC(Mobile Network Code) and MCC(Mobile Carrier Code) code you would find in the apn. Like sprint which is MNC 310 and MCC 120
Im speaking of the code you use in the dialer to open hidden menus that usually start with ##, #*, *#, *#*#, etc.
