Alongside the introduction of Galaxy Note 2, Samsung has announced the availability of a new Software Development Kit for the S Pen. The S Pen SDK 2.2 should help developers bring several features found on the Galaxy Note 2 to other S Pen-touting devices, the original Note included. The updated SDK contains new UX scenario, context awareness, and expanded drawing tools.
Of note is the tool that allows apps to recognize the S Pen even when there’s no physical contact between the stylus and the screen. In other words, you can simply hover the pen over the device to trigger certain actions.
Available only for the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 10.1 is the ability the launch preset features when the S Pen is detached or when the earphone is attached. As for the expanded doodling tools, a new calligraphy brush has been added to the list of pen input, and there are new color filling features, 33 image effects, an improved UI, and more.
With Samsung doing its part by releasing the new S Pen SDK, the ball is now on the devs’ court to try and create some more advanced apps for the Note series.

It can be. The only thing that can't is when you take the spen out. Like auto launch memo as soon as it's taken out

It's not an app that you can install on your phones. It's for developers who create apps for the note..
Isn't the New s-pen slightly bigger? How should it fit into Note 1?

You can't fit the Note 2 hardware into the Note 1. It is software that controls the S pen that is to be coded using the new SDK.
oo. thx for the info

wait for an rom that have its features
or for a 4.1 official samsung galaxy note n7000 update
---------- Post added at 04:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:42 PM ----------
i mean an official jelly bean update as in this video -
Hi guys, I have a gs3 international version. Recently I've been flashing over to the leak version of jb stock ROMs over at the other forum under gs3.
There are about 4 stock ROMs all under the leak ver for sg3.
The initial Leak ROM which I've flashed using Odin i9300xxLH1. While using this ROM I sign into Facebook , it recognize my phone as galaxy note 2. Wtf ?
That ROM does include s note lite which is the same as note 10.1.
My question is. Can that stock ROM be flash into our galaxy note?
Noted that the ROM is without kernel. Just firmware. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Can someone check that ROM out?
The new note 2 is fantastic! Ui look and feels just the same like the sgs3.:silly:
I think this update would worl on apps that call or import the thew new s-pen sdk package..
I am awaiting for new innovative approaches to start flowing in.
One great feature i would like is the i can hold the pen in the Contacts app side bar where the alphabets come it can switch fast to the corresponding names.. and further drill down .. on a particular contact it will hover a call or message button which i should click for action.

S Note Lite is just a taster of the S Note for the Note series of devices. It is not the same version of S Note found on 10.1 tab, I believe.
I am so boggled by the responses to this thread.

May be bcoz officially JB is made available on Note 2 only. None of the other samsung devices got JB version until now.
Looks like it works only at Korean Galaxy Note 2. Is it possible to port it to international version?

maybe because the Korean version is already released, it has a newer version witch supports this feature, and the intl' will also support it.
but its not based on anything.. only me :cyclops:
I also think that the craftsmen will find a way)
That will be really disappointing if its only on the Korean Note 2.
After watching the videos of it yesterday I was definitely going to purchase the Galaxy Note 2 on launch day in the UK. But if its not a supported feature in the EU/N7100 models then I think I will hold off.
The multiscreen feature is also available in hong kong's note 2, which is an international version.

This looks awesome. However when I was watching it I was thinking "Sweet!!! I can finally answer texts while browsing the internet!" But after looking at the apps in the side bar I didn't see sms in there. So I wonder what apps will be supported in this feature and if it will be possible to incorporate mods to get other apps to work.
That's an awesome feature. Hopefully the international version also has this.
But if it doesn't has, i still go for the Note II

Sms is present as an option. in the first video, i can see the sms icon below the gallery icon. Samsung should be highlighting that feature because it brings a desktop like view to the note. Definitely ordering now. was going to wait to see the new nexus and features of the next version of Android, but this just sealed the decision.

My mistake, I'm using 'ultimate rotation control'.
It works great on my galaxy note 1.
One of the big reasons I'm using it is it allows 180 degree rotation so I'm not always hitting the capacitive buttons.

That is an amazing feature but of all the Note 2 videos I have seen, it's the first one I have seen that has that (half-circular) tab on the left side of the screen. Looks like it's brought up by holding the 'back button'. I wonder if its just that no one knows about this 'shortcut' to open this feature. Or could this be an updated version of TouchWiz we are seeing?
I think you can enable the multi-window from the settings, because it make sense that not everybody want to have the half circle on left border by default.
Lets hope it is available in the international version
So are we saying that stock launcher on note 2 doesnt rotate landscape??

So it looks like every note 2 will have that function.

So I am getting a TF300 very soon and I am very excited. I am upgrading from a Galaxy TAB2 7inch. I am stoked for a bigger screen and just a better tablet. What has everyone thought of this device and what ROMS are you using?
I assume that everyone is mainly sticking to nova and apex and maybe adw.
tell me what you think

thanks for your input

I have used it on my Sammy TAB2 and it seems to run nicely. The only thing I will miss is the IR blaster on my Sammy. Turned it into a remote for my DVR and TV
AOKP is as stable as ever
I saw that the S4 lauched with quite a few new tricks
I'm wondering which of these new additions we might be getting via the new software update 4.2 and/or which the devs can port.
Here are all the new features of the s3 (hope i'm not missing anything)
1)dual camera mode
2)group play
3)smart pause
4)smart scroll
5)air features/gestures with finger
6)s-voice drive
7)s-health
8)sound and shoot
9)drama shot
Features that came with new hardware
10)Thermometer
11)IR sensor for use with Samsung ECO system
So i'm guessing we can/will get all the new software features excluding air features with finger, per Samsung this uses additional new hardware with the screen..
Which of this features would you like to see coming to our beloved device?
If you see the ign's review the that they had some problems with these features. They were not completely effective.
They say that they had some problems and did not work smoothly.

Hardly surprising as they've added a lot of stuff. Probably the s4 will be a bit buggy at the outset and they'll fix it with updates.

Well to be honest I don't like it neither . specially the system UI where the soft keys are in the middle and the performance mods switch is missing(I'm not sure why Asus did not fix that, it looks pretty much like the stock Android launcher ).
But I feel I should get used to it since feature update of Android would probably be similar and I don't want to fall behind.
