FeraLab Wishlist - Future Features (Rom & Kernel) - XPERIA X10 General

...

I subscribed to this thread.. I will read through all of your wishes even if they are foolish or impossible to implement at now.., I will just look through and try my best.. It's important for me to know what everybody needs/wants to make more and more people happy.. that's the initial purpose of all of this development stuff - Be happy . Thank you..
And regarding few points in OP.
September 30th
- Fix the Problem in Boot Time - it's fixed in v13 kernel
- Fix the Bluetooth Time (Pressing 'Make my device seen' in always crush the setting) - Firmware problem.. Hopefully will be fixed with new Achotjan build
- Add Swap Cache to the SD Card to improve the Performance - See game-mode on my website
- Fix the WiFi Module with 13 Channels - See wifi.tx in aroma installer.
- Fix the V4A Equalizer Bugs in Convolver & Sound Driver [Feedback by Axl Jam] - Permanently unavailable..Author of Viper4android says that x10's CPU is poor. I will look for a workaround of this, since I use viper and i like it.
- Fix Framework & Camera Rotation [Feedback by Popain] - Hopefully will be fixed with new Achotjan build
Have a nice time, Family..

Expandable volume settings.

I would like to see finished CM7 kernel and CM7 ROM (clean as J's ROM).

My idea's....
I prefer to use Feravolt GB ROM's because they are complete and most updated.
For a long time i was switching to ZMOD. Main reason was because (over periode of time) ZMOD kept it's stability!
However, in the last couple of months Feravolt has broken more (namely kernel) limits then ever before which makes his rom and kernel great. I'm no longer switching to ZMOD.
So he won that battle from great ZMOD. IMHO he's up to a next competition:
Every now and then I'm switching to JB ROMs (mostly DX/10 on Ferakernel v4).
My main reason is that JB provides Google apps (google Now, google keep, new google maps) that i really like to use.
Downside is that basic functionality on JB roms isn't that complete and smooth as in Feravolt GB roms (so i keep switching).
Therfore i voted to port JB apps, tough i am aware that porting the apps i mentioned is not possible.
Ultimately: what i would wish for is that Feravolt would try to further improve his JB kernel and JB rom (with the knowledge he has gained on GB development).
To give some more concrete idea's on Gingerbread:
1)
Auto brightness would be a great feauture to put in! I have mentioned before that earlier GB ROM (TripNRaver, WolfBreak) did have this. It's a batery saver. I have tried to contact TripNRaver and asked if he wanetd to share his knowlodge, but i got no reply. Scritch007 once mentioned that it has something to do with a library. And yes: i know that Feravolt also did hard work in this feature! Somehow it didn't make it to final stage.
2)
After tapping an app or setting the new window opens instant with smooth animation. But loading the content of that screen is slower, and i need to wait for that.
It would be great if Feravolt could make some improvements in 'content-loading'.
Or maybe i have missed something and someone has got some tips for me (governour, SD card, usage of swap, lik2sd maybe, etc.???).
Best regards,
UltimateGeppie

Please don't forget stk.apk optional in Aroma installer as you promised in one of your threads.
Thank you in advance. :good:

Hi All,
Not sure if this is what Yikimo means with 'expandable volume settings', but I'd like to see this volume step increase implemented in Feralab :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411317
Reason is that call volume is often either too quiet or too loud when using a headset.
The other two griefs I have are:
- Camera app force closing when it has been opened once already.
- Phone app lagging (need to press the dialer icon 5 times before the dialer appears) - maybe not related to Feralab.
Last, I just bought a 32Gb microSD formatted as FAT32 into Feralab 29 and it works perfectly.
(Transcend 32GB Premium Micro SDHC with Adapter Class 10 / UHS-1, bought from a Samsung tablet owner)
Thank you Fera !

TSM CommROM GB Waiting Room/Discussion Thread

NOTE: PLEASE DON'T ASK FOR ETAs UNLESS YOU THINK YOU CAN BUILD A ROM MORE QUICKLY AND BETTER THAN TSM.
NOTE 2: THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL TSM THREAD, NOR DO I CLAIM TO SPEAK FOR TSM.
NOTE 3: GET THE LATEST UPDATES FROM TSM HERE: http://teamsbrissenmod.net/Upcoming.html
NOTE 4: if you've already tried one of the EC09 ROMs (stock, Nameless, TechnoROM), I have posted a survey and poll here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150575. The more responses we get in the poll, the closer we could get to finding, isolating, and fixing this bug. Your participation is greatly appreciated
Landshark68 had a great idea when he started a thread where you could post all the things (speculation, thank you jt, great ROM, flashing now, bug reports w/o logcats, I'd flash if...) that you shouldn't clutter jt1134's CM7 thread with. Therefore, I thought it would be a good idea to apply this concept to the TSM Gingerbread ROM being developed now.
Our approach will have to be a little different, since as of 6/28/11, there is no ROM thread to post these kind of things in. Here, though, I encourage everyone to ask questions that hopefully TSM members can answer here (no "when" questions, though). You could indicate what features you'd like to see in this ROM. You also might want to indicate what custom themes you would like to have available for this ROM (including themes you've seen on other devices) - as for suggestions for the default theme, Nitsuj17 already has a thread for that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132266. As for thank-you posts (when the ROM thread is posted), please remember the "Thanks" button which you can click on the ROM's OP as viewed in the browser (it would be nice to see this feature available in the XDA app). If you want to give more detailed "thank you" posts, or thank-you posts directed at specific developers, I encourage you to post them here.
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...
What do you think the name should be? My personal preference is UKGB: Ultimate Kang Ginger Bang
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...
Note: When voting in the poll above, remember that there is no guarantee the themes voted on will be available. The themer in question is under no obligation to provide the themes indicated, and some may have already moved on to other devices. If you would like to carry on a theme for someone who has since moved on to another device, please PM that themer for permission.

Themes that come to mind:
Engraved Matted Blues
Honeycomb or variant there of
GS2 TW theme, frankenstein of some kind.
Some kind of clean minimalist theme.
A windows phone 7 style theme would be cool.

What Features Do You Want?
What features do you want included in this ROM?
Ideas to jump-start the imagination:
-Working Netflix app included with ROM (so you don't have to search for it elsewhere)
-Lockscreen with music controls that can be mapped to music player of choice
-MIUI Music Player (with visualizer and controls mapped to the MIUI lockscreen)
-AOSP-style calendar

Ideas for questions to ask TSM members
What questions would you like to ask TSM members regarding this ROM?
Examples:
-Are there any Gingerbread-specific features that will set this apart from UKB 2.1?
-Will Gingerbread make this ROM faster or more battery-efficient than a Froyo ROM?
-Will Voodoo sound be available in this ROM? (AFAIK, there has been no kernel source leak for Gingerbread, so a better question might be if voodoo sound can be ported from a Froyo kernel)

1. overscroll glow and crt screen off animation...hopefully the latter being controlled by tsm parts...we ll see
2. faster, no..probably not as its a buggy build and we dont have custom voodoo kernels....battery wise, my observations are that despite the lack of undervolting, the build does get very good batt life in general (nothing due to us though) probably because of less battery drain due to tws
3. if you buy the voodoo control plus (4 bucks) app in the market, it can inject a module for voodoo sound in (free cant)...
extras: -sbrissen has fixed (seems so, so far at least) the adb/usb debugging issue (wont stay on after a reboot bug) for the rfs kernel
-clean quickpanel (data instead of mobile data, rotation instead of auto rotation)
-*most* of the available tsm parts options for froyo...the first release may be lacking a few though
-NO WE HAVE NO FIX FOR SDCARD ISSUES....as of now if you want to flash the rom when its out, you do so with the same caveat as all other things ec09 related: your sdcard could crap out at any time
-netflix is a good idea to include in...we might just do that
-tw musicplayer is needed for lockscreen controls of a few of the lockscreens, as of now, no way around it
Thanks for the update! So... anyone planning to get the voodoo control plus app?
Obviously, when this ROM comes out, everyone make sure you back up your SD cards!
Could the SD card issue be related to the ext4 lagfix? As in, flashing EC09 over a lagfix-enabled card can cause these problems?

I doubt it, because I went back to DL09 and then flashed EC09 then GingerBang, and still got my sdcard eaten. So like nitsuj said, could be, don't know. :/

Glad i'm not the only one with SD card woes. Really thought I did something wrong.
I think TSM should just make a GB rom that is similar to CM 7, but fixing all the issues that are currently on it.
As far as theming it, users can always get the theme they want.
Com Rom have been great. Some of the CM7 features would be great like profiles, quiet time.

modding/theming the existing touchwiz systems we have is one thing...building aosp roms is a whole nother game...
and really the purpose of comrom is to give a highly customized touchwiz system based rom, that has many options/changes to enhance what we have...an alternative for those who dont want to use aosp for whatever reason

[INFO] Drew Garin's ICS Flavours; On Screen Buttons and Hardware Buttons - Alpha

Hello All,
Here is Drew Garin's ICS AOSP builds on his main site, it comes in two flavours:
No onscreen buttons and, onscreen buttons.
The onscreen buttons build is the same experience you will have on the Galaxy Nexus. Drew states that this build it more stable, and recommends this build if you want a solid ICS experience.
The no onscreen buttons build works as you would expect. It takes advantage of the Nexus S hardware buttons.
I will quote everything from his site below
What Works:
Nearly Everything!
USB and ADB
3G Data
Audio
Hardware Accel
Camera, Panorama
GPS (Unconfirmed currently I’m in a 13 story brick building)
Face Unlock
Wifi
Bluetooth
Tethering and Hotspot
Data Usage
NFC
Pretty much everything
Not Working:
Camcorder
Not all applications are currently compatible with ICS on Crespo. As a work around you can always use appbrain or download from the internet.
Download With On Screen Buttons (Overall Stable):
mirror 1: http://www.multiupload.com/BWE16F2YTH
mirror 2: dg-ics-on-screen
Download No Buttons (Experimental):
mirror 1: http://www.multiupload.com/TESISLS5MV
No Button Build Issues:
Tethering and Hotspot Does Not Work
There May Be Some Other Issues
On Screen Is More Stable

Kernel Credit Of: Kwiboo (for the time being until my kernel is done)
Wifi and Bluetooth Fix Credit: Kwiboo
Install Instructions:
Boot into Clockwork Recovery
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache
-wipe dalvik
-install from zip
-reboot and enjoy!!
Notes:
Do not turn on 2D acceleration on in settings -> developer.
In spare parts turn off compatibility mode and restart for downloaded apps to work better in ics.
Need a root explorer like tool? I suggest using jrummy’s root browser.
The On Screen Button Version doesn’t lag as much and provides that ICS smooth scroll you wish to see.

That aside I'm eager to see if scrolling has improved over kwiboo's version. Because other than that, kwiboo's is pretty damn near perfect.

xewier its very nice you will try that but it will never work 100% until there are more official ics roms!
I´ve tested with samsung gio and evo 3d ics and to be honest it isn´t so special...
don´t get me wrong I appreciate that all guys here would love that and I don´t have any problem with that but I think its wasted time...

1- a lot of new features and options (lockscreens, widgets, multitasking interface, swipe to remove notification etc etc etc ... )
2- gpu accelerated interface (unlike froyo nad GB that use CPU accelerated) , which obviously saves some cpu power.
3- if someone ports it, it would be AOSP , so more free RAM and less samsung crap =>better multitasking and performance in general.
4-better looking UI and theming
and a lot more, but i think these are enough to make a point
just write 99 at the main menu and get the ported rom at the "output zip" folder

the challenge arguement is funny and true =)
I didn´t and I don´t want to critize the people who are actually porting something for our phone, I just don´t get why ICS is so important for all people (excepted the challenge factor) The real big changes in ics are faceunlock (which we will maybe become with the next stock rom) a new launcher and new settings can be make...
Please don´t think I totaly against Ics, it would be nice to have it, but I think with the troubles we will have to face with ics we could instead build a stable cyanogenmod 7.2...

the answer to this is related to my first reply, of course when u have a stock rom, the hardware should work as it should, cyanogenmods (all versions) usually have issues with cameras for example, especially if they don't have the drivers for it. and this matter is not the only issue with cyanogen, they have other bugs too, but they also introduced a lot of tweaks and new stuff. so in the absence of an official rom (which we would tweak) , porting is our only option.

custom roms for arc s review

hi every one
i would like to open a thread about reviews on custom roms on ARC S
reviews made as ORDINARY USER
it is just about how you think of your device AFTER a custom rom
what you like or dislike.....
what you miss or need and didn't found ....(no need to tell how and what you do , because that's another subject)
NO NEED to post Q or BUGS or HOW TO or REQUESTS or DEEP DEVELOPER details JUST....USER OPINION!!!
AND please give credits to the developers of the ROMS by posting links to threads you found the custom rom in.
Starting form here:
Arc S with rooted GB (LT18i 4.0.2.A.0.62) and CWM installed
AtoMic GB 5.0 final (custom rom)
AtoMic Gb 5.0 Arc S patch!
Atomic mod system ui
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2083286
-device working fine no lags or errors ..until now
-installing apps &games and they are working good for me
-no file manager pre-installed
-don't like ring tones
my overall opinion it is GOOD rom to try!!!:good::good:
You should use the respective Rom threads to post reveiws about romS!
edit:
allright if everyone wants it
Well I think it's a good idea for a thread that could help people in finding ROM's with features they are looking for. I dislike posting off topic so here I go:

Well I think it's a good idea for a thread that could help people in finding ROM's with features they are looking for.

The way People can find what they're looking for is by reading the ROM threads in the development section, not by reading noobs opinions on one of the many variations of a "best ROM" thread, which this is, evident by the short summary of what the OP thinks about the ROM.
I can't agree more. Which ROM is the fastest? Which kernel is best? etc. etc. It's like walking into a bar and asking which drink is the best. You can't get your answer because every person around has a personal taste and looking for something different.
Going further. Telling that one ROM is better than another is quite disrespectful to developers. Most of them spent much time making their work for FREE and one guy can easily depreciate their work.
If you're looking for answer - try. It's easy and making it on your own is much funnier than looking for spoon feeding in every situations. Thinking is fun

I can't see this as valid review, because every user is different and every user has its own needs. 2 people will not have totally same user experience on same ROM and kernel.

No need to turn the thread into (picking on noobs)thread it's about USER OPINIONS NOOBS OR NON-NOOBS
No need mock or disrespect commenters just because YOU THINK YOU KNOW MORE THAN THEM
No need to tell any one where or how to find ROMS
As long as no forum rules is broken :
Don't tell any one what and what not to say
Don't turn commenting into PERSONAL.
And last thing;
IAM A NOOB AND NOOBS ARE WELCOME TO FEEL FREE AND SHARE COMMENTS here on this thread.....Cause that's what this forum is all about SHARE...FREE..COMMENTS
Wrong. XDA is a developers' site. If you're a noob, then make yourself not one, or leave

Actually I have an Ultimate HD of course, with Ultimate HD Mod and I like it very much.
+almost no lags
+xperia z theme
+modded statusbar (better than stock, I think)
+configurable
+quite frequent updates
-few useless system apps
Grade: 5,5 (in Poland we have grading scale from 2-5 at universities )
Previously I had used several other ROM`s, for example Viper Xpieria (good, 4,5-5), Racing Bean (not so good, 3-3,5), CyanogenMod 10 (good, 4), MIUI (good, 4), Jelly Sandwich (very good, 5, but it`s no longer developed I think) and CAMPS+ (bad, 2,5-3).
So to sum up, in my opinion the best ROM actually is Ultimate HD + Ultimate HD Mod, cause of no lagging, stability, and almost no bugs.
I've been using Custom ROMs for about 6 months. So, didn't try too many of them. The reason why I switched to custom ROM was Sony Bloatware and the slowness of official ICS ROM. What I was looking for was more internal space and get the phone up to GB speeds.
First try was CM9.
+ Easy to install, best documentation out there,
+ Good customization options,
+ Frees up load of memory,
+ The GUI doesn't lag too much
+ Fast boot-up.
- Apollo player (hated it and due to regional issues, I couldn't install Google Music),
- WiFi issues
Next I tried racing bean with Fusion 4.4
+ The GUI is much more fluid than anything I tried on my Arc,
+ Customization is on the same level as CM9,
+ Same internal storage usage as CM9,
+ Includes good players/utilities,
+ Battery life didn't shorten despite the fact that the phone became more fluid and responsive,
+ WiFi locks very fast and stable,
+ No issues with 3G,
- There are 3 camera programs included. The panaroma one doesn't even launch (force close immediately). The other two are definitely below the Sony's original camera application,
- The kernel boot takes forever. I see the Fusion logo for about 40 seconds. Once the Nexus animation starts, the boot-up goes very fast. I get the feeling that the Fusion kernel is waiting for a timeout,
- The phone reboots occasionally. Especially when GPS is used (like with dedicated navigation programs). I think when the phone is under heavy load (you feel that the GUI starts stuttering and lag becomes apparent) almost immediately the Nexus X logo comes up.
I heard good things about the Ultimate HD ROM. Will try that one once I get some free time.

Each user will have different experience with each ROM. So an opinion from a certain user about a certain ROM may differ from another user. The only way to truly find the best ROM for your phone is to try it out.

i know XDA is a developers' site it's on the TITLE..... but leaving is another thing, when i breaks a forum rule i think i will be forced to leave till that happen(if it could ever) i think i will STAY. after all WRONG or WRIHT depends on where you STAND and WHAT you are tallking about.
The NOOB-thing:
if the site admins don't LIKE noobs or don't WANT them to post they coud have made subuscrition rule that ANY ONE shoud POST some thing he actually DEVEOPED before posting
AND for GOD'S sake don't keep on posting anti-noobs or NO-use comments here...if you want it to die just wait for it....don't bother to replay..you'll just make it last longer!!!!

u should try by yourself. believe me buddy, its fun if you try by youself. This is not about how you install something that is inserted into your device, and you show people that you mostly have advanced technology. more than that comrade ... it's about development.
respect those who have tried to create a custom ROM and share it here...

Let me just go by Droid OS versions:
1. ICS 4.0.4= Pureness ROMS, VIPER
2. JB 4.1.2 = Slim bean or Super JB
3. JB 4.2.2 = Paranod Android v3.6 (Rizal Lovins) My current ROM

[ROM] [DISCONTINUED] Another Unofficial CM13

Before anybody ask me to fix things, i'm sorry, but i can't. These are "stable", so do a full wipe, and check if the problem solved.
You are doing this at your own risk

Thanks again, but keep in mind that i just built it from source Chill, i wouldn't like to stop until official nightly builds.
What's the point? How is this any different from the other unofficial builds? Seems like a waste of time and a clutter of the development section unless some how this is different?

There is no difference from the other builds. I didn't say it's something special. Somewhere i agree with you. CM should be official now.

There are several unofficial builds out there, but no one makes the builds every day, or at least shares them. The two CM devs don't really share their builds everyday, so it is nice to have several options where the ROM is updated daily. Furthermore, if one build has an issue, it is possible to use another build in order to check weither the ROM is bugged or is the builder the culprit (bad repo sync, etc...).

Yup they don't, because they wanna wait till it's integrated into CM's Jenkins, auto/official builds. It takes too long to do by their own(It can take like an hour depending on the hardware)

Nah I made a little guide on how to build, and my build only take 10-15mins depending of the changes. The first build took around 2-3hours, but when you enable CCACHE, you reduce it a lot since it uses stuff from the last build.
For the HW, I'm using a VMWare workstation (virtual machine) with Ubuntu 16.XX, OS and software on SSD, VM on HHD (1Gb 7200rpm), i5 6500, 8Gb of RAM (5 given to VM, but seems to use more). For the repo sync, got a 30Mb/s wire (download speed is at 3Mb/s). So as you can see, it's not really a big big computer, I'm not even using my SSD for the building ^^

Yet it is a pain to do builds everyday on the same day. If you forget a day, people will complain and flame the hell out of you.(that's the XDA forums after all) This guy is really brave.
It's also hard to support people running 100's of different builds(Remember; CM doesn't even support their own official nightlies on their forums, you'll get your topic locked and/or downright ignored).

Hehe yeah true, you forget one day and BOOM, got everyone on your back. And CM doesn't support it yet because they may have issues with the number of servers or even in terms of stability, trademark, etc...
