Power on, and unlock delay?!? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yesterday after flashing I9505_XXUDMI1_WiFi_FIX.rar because i had wifi issues my device is slow in waking up. And when it waks up after a few of seconds (compleet random) and i try to swipe to unlock is takes a few of seconds to go to home screen. I tries 3 different roms, and even a stock rom. Also i tries flashing other modems but nothing helps.
Is flashing I9505_XXUDMI1_WiFi_FIX.rar irreversible. Or is it something else that is bothering me?
Help me please this s....s

What kind of wipe. I tried the recovery wipe, Is there another wipe? A flasheble wipe?

1 Perform factory reset
2 go to CWM recovery >advanced clear dalvik
3 clear cache
4 format cache partition (DO NOT FORMAT SYSTEM , JUST CHOSE FORMAT CACHE PARTITION)
5 FLASH a new rom i'd recomment Arrow Rom v8 or any other rom based on stock, but to install arrow you will first have to flash appropriate kernel so dont forget to do that (All instructions + links to kernels etc) are on thread's first page ......Installing a stock kernel + rom like this one may fix the issue

Cannot flash any ROM's

Hello, I have recently been unable to flash ROM's succesfully.
I have Clockwork MOD 4.0.0.2 installed as it came with CF-Root, and I am on stock 2.3.5 KI3.
I have tried flashing several roms, and while it says install complete, whenever it restarts, it is on a boot loop, where it won't go past the Galaxy S II bit with the yellow triangle, I have to flash the stock rom again using odin to even use the phone, I have tried to flash other recovery versions, like 4.0.0.14 and 5.1.2.6 (I think it is) but they all come up with errors mounting or getting recovery.log or something, could you please help?
Did you try to do a full wipe?
Most issues can be resolved by this.
In the CWM menu chose the factory reset/full wipe. (Don't worry it won't touch your files on the internal SD card)
Do a cache wipe and in the advanced menu do a dalvik cache wipe.
Some recommend to do this procedure twice, but you should be settled with doing it once
Let me know if it helped?

Yeah I did all that, didn't help, the progress bar gets half way and says complete :S I have downloaded the ROMs several times aswell incase they were corrupt, still didn't help.
Take out the battery, wait a bit, put it back in. Do all the wipe and formatting procedures (perhaps twice) and format the internal sd card as well and wipe the battery stats (just to be sure)

CAN ANYBODY HELP ME PLEASE? PHONE STUCK AT RED M LOGO.
While being on Maniac's 25/04 build I decided to run V6 Supercharger. After I tried to run it got a message that it didn't have superuser rights although I pressed alow. The system got slow and I decided to reboot. It got hanging at the red M logo for a few min. Tried with Vol+- and power and after the blue and green lights it keep hanging on the red M logo. I decided to reflash the nightly but when I pres power button at the blue light I don't get to the CWM menu. Tried it 3 times without any effect. Funny thing is that I can still charge the phone. Does anyone have a idea what to do and spare me starting everything from the beginning? Any help is deeply appreciated!!!
can you boot into the recovery menu and wipe the caches and things??
hold volume down then the power button and this should get you into the stock recovery but you can still do a factory reset in there by doing a data wipe then clear cache and dalvik cache.
Not sure this will work and it will wipe all your data and apps but it may recover the system and make it boot.
Edit: maybe just try to wipe the cache first before doing factory reset, This will keep all your apps and data.

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately wiping cache on stock recovery didn't help, and if I do a factory reset I'll wipe out everything including 2nd init and cwm. It looks like I have to start with RSD and Froyo again.
yeah it sucks loosing all the apps and setting everything back up again but sometimes it has to be done.
I done it alot before I fully knew what I was doing. Flashing roms and RSD with the wrong kernels and all was frustrating to say the least

You get to CWM with VOL DOWN! And you should make a wipe cache /dalwik from CWM, not stock recovery as you did... You can try make a wipe cache, wipe dalwik cache from CWM, but maybe CWM got corrupted because of wipe cache you did from stock recovery...
If so, you you should make a factory reset from stock recovery, and start again with superoneclick, 2ndinit, CWM... Etc
If you flash custom roms you can forget stock recovery, everything is done from CWM! I've not seen my stock recovery for half year, flashing custom roms from CWM...
Good luck!

Since i rooted a500, this problem started.
Didn't work
It didn't work.
I really don't know what to do to fix this problem, otherwise, send it back to Acer.
this one worked for me, i get this problem last week and i think this happens because bad installation of SW.
Are you flashed unlocked bl V8?
try this. use thor recovery 1.7.3 and perform a real format
boot in recovery and format cache and dalvik cache and battery status.
then go to recovery menu, enter Backup and Restore and click on Toggle backup and restore of internal storage data/media
then go to Mounts and Storage and format /data-/system-/flexrom-/cache
keep in mind this will format data and you will loose all you have in the in the internal memory. (backup first)
install civato's rom (rev 6.2 available) and reboot.
see if camera work normal, flash pub recovery (stable)
if camera doesn't work you need to goes back to acer's original rom with acer's recovery and if it doesn't work again it is a HW problem.

All the wipes and all the formats.
I have the unlocked bootloader v8
I did install Civato's rom, but still the same problem.
I'll try again later, and report here. If it didn't work, then i know it's a hardware problem.
Thanks man.

4.3 flashing and bootlooping problem

Hi there
I seem to have a problem flashing 4.3 roms, actually any rom that isn't stock in general.
Right now I am running syzmel's 20E with 1.3ghz overclock version 3.09.
Back to the problem: this is the steps I take to upgrade to any rom: 1. Download (slimbean, vanir asop) 2. flash v20D (unmodded) 3. Root it using Framaroot 4. Install CWM using L7CWM.zip (extracted, then clicked on flash bootloader, flash recovery, and then booted into recovery) 5. Boot into CWM 6. Click on factory reset and reset 7. Go into mounts and storage and format /system 8. Go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache. 9. Flash either 4.3 version slimbean or Vanir ASOP (tell me which is better) 9. Flash gapps (Slimbean: Slim AIO minimal Gapps, Vanir: 4.3 minimal Gapps which is found in the Vanir ASOP page) 10. Factory reset again 11. Wipe dalvik 12. Reboot
Now as soon as I reboot, either it stays rebooting, or boots once and when you reboot it stays at the boot loading page (slimbean logo, or android logo) (In other words, once you go black, you never go back. Not being racist, just saying once it blacks out it doesn't work no more). So i retry. And then I give up and stick on v20E.
So please suggestions?

Did you try boot without gapps... Sometimes bad gapps cause a lot of problems

[Q] Flashing various TW Lollipop fw over existing CM12 fails

Hello,
actually I'm using a SGS4 I9505 with cm-12-20150304-NIGHTLY-jfltexx and CWM 6.0.5.1.
I've tried to flash several TW Lollipop firmware wich i found in the I9505 forum:
1. Kushan+Touchwiz+Lollipop+Lite+Rom+v.1.2
2. S4_Echoev42_EchoePop2_020315
3. OA7-2.1F
4. XXUHA07-v2.01
Before flashing any oft this firmwares i made a factory reset, wiped both caches and installed the modem Firmware via Odin.
After flashing firmware # 1 and 2 my phone was stuc in a bootloop (only Samsung Galaxy S4 Logo appears).
Flashing firmware #3 and 4 fails and cwm reports error 7.
Flashing cm12 afterwards isn't a problem and runs fine.
I think the wipe fails or doesn't work properly. Is it enougth to select factory reset in cwm and wipe the dalvik cache manualy?
What can I do?
With besteht regard
Mirko (NemesisMF)
What if it is a recovery problem?
Thought about that too.
Should i try twrp or philz?
I switched to Philz Recovery and flashed S4 Echoe Rom v42 without any Problems.
CWM seems to have a problem to falsh TW Lollipop images ower an existing CM12 an the I9505.
You need to do full wipe not just cache.

As I wrote above I did a factory reset before flashing and wiped the caches with cwm. If that is not enougth it would be nice to explain what else I have to wipe or post a link.
While using philz recovery the factory reset for clean system is enougth and the new System is working fine.
Factory wipe is not full wipe, you need to do a full wipe as in format to install new rom, phillz recovery has this feature can't remember exactly where, I think its under advanced.
Just have a look in the sub menus.
Just to explain it better when you do a full wipe it deletes every part of the existing
Rom including the system, data and cache and some other stuff completely removing the android operating system, so unless the rom you install does a wipe before install parts of the existing system will remain and can cause boot issues. For example as you've already discovered you are trying to install a tw rom over an existing cyanogenmod 12 installation which Will cause it to hang on boot.

Do you mean a factory reset from within Android itself? If so, then that's a complete obsolete step. When before flashing a rom you should perform a factory reset, then they always mean a full wipe from the recovery. You need to do a full wipe from the recovery. That means the /system partition is being wiped. You will see it in the screen during the wipe if it wipes /system.
But it also could have been a problem of CWM. I don't think it is being updated anymore, so better use TWRP or Philz.
