Fix camera sw issue (green noise) - Acer Iconia A500

If You have Rear camera that doesn't show picture and there is weird green noises and Tile pics from Front camera, here is how to fix it.
1) If You are on unlocked BL flash latest version (V8), with Pub recovery version 0.2 ( important part )
You need your SBK for flashing VIA APX flash tool, GUIDE (thanks to civato and blackthund3r) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622425
If You are on bl v4 or up you can flash it via CWM. Thread (thanks to Skrilax_CZ) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619913
PUB recovery Ver 0.2, here (Thanks to Ezterry) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654476
2) Reboot in recovery mode.
3) Factory data reset.
4) Wipe cache partition.
Go to advanced
5) Wipe dalvik cache.
6) Wipe battery stats.
Return to menu and go to mounts and storage
7) Format cache and data
8) Format System and flexrom 2-3 time
Return to menu
9) install zip from sdcard, choose one of Civato's ICS Roms and then flash it.
Civato's Rom, Here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969887
Great Rom, no problem at all, Thanks to Civato and Ezterry For Their great work.
Now reboot Your Tab.
It delete all trash files from previous Roms and Your camera goes back to normal mode.
Hope It help

Thanks man.
I'll try this as soon as i arrive home.
Do you know why such problem happens?
Since i rooted a500, this problem started.

Didn't work
It didn't work.
I really don't know what to do to fix this problem, otherwise, send it back to Acer.

this one worked for me, i get this problem last week and i think this happens because bad installation of SW.
Are you flashed unlocked bl V8?
try this. use thor recovery 1.7.3 and perform a real format
boot in recovery and format cache and dalvik cache and battery status.
then go to recovery menu, enter Backup and Restore and click on Toggle backup and restore of internal storage data/media
then go to Mounts and Storage and format /data-/system-/flexrom-/cache
keep in mind this will format data and you will loose all you have in the in the internal memory. (backup first)
install civato's rom (rev 6.2 available) and reboot.
see if camera work normal, flash pub recovery (stable)
if camera doesn't work you need to goes back to acer's original rom with acer's recovery and if it doesn't work again it is a HW problem.

I tried 4 times.
All the wipes and all the formats.
I have the unlocked bootloader v8
I did install Civato's rom, but still the same problem.
I'll try again later, and report here. If it didn't work, then i know it's a hardware problem.
Thanks man.

Did you drop yourr tablet or did the tablet has a hard bump on something? You may have a loose connection between the camera and the main board.

Cannot flash any ROM's

Hello, I have recently been unable to flash ROM's succesfully.
I have Clockwork MOD 4.0.0.2 installed as it came with CF-Root, and I am on stock 2.3.5 KI3.
I have tried flashing several roms, and while it says install complete, whenever it restarts, it is on a boot loop, where it won't go past the Galaxy S II bit with the yellow triangle, I have to flash the stock rom again using odin to even use the phone, I have tried to flash other recovery versions, like 4.0.0.14 and 5.1.2.6 (I think it is) but they all come up with errors mounting or getting recovery.log or something, could you please help?
Did you try to do a full wipe?
Most issues can be resolved by this.
In the CWM menu chose the factory reset/full wipe. (Don't worry it won't touch your files on the internal SD card)
Do a cache wipe and in the advanced menu do a dalvik cache wipe.
Some recommend to do this procedure twice, but you should be settled with doing it once
Let me know if it helped?

Yeah I did all that, didn't help, the progress bar gets half way and says complete :S I have downloaded the ROMs several times aswell incase they were corrupt, still didn't help.
Take out the battery, wait a bit, put it back in. Do all the wipe and formatting procedures (perhaps twice) and format the internal sd card as well and wipe the battery stats (just to be sure)

[Q] major issue after booting... need help

I have an acer iconia tab A500 and i wanted to install thor's 14.2 rom.I was previously using Taboonay 2.0.After flashing the 14.2 rom via CWM,on rebooting the device does not accept my previously password.I had enabled tablet encryption and now it does not accept the password.I even pressed the small reset button next to usb port but the tab just rebooted and still does not accept the password.Pls help....
Wipe all (data, cache, dalvik, and system) before flashing?
yes i wiped data, cache and dalvik.... what is this system and how do i wipe it?
fyi i also tried flashing back my previous taboonay rom,it is not even booting....
I don't remember if thor's ROM formats system partition before flashing but anyway the option is available in mounts and storages in CWM menu. But I guess this is not your problem.. Sorry still haven't got my morning coffee.
Encryption had made your data partition unavailable for CWM. Read here how to fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323714
.. So try factory reset from the privacy option. You might lose app's data though...
EDIT:
Oh, it doesn't boot....don't know my friend. May be try an EUU tool from the PC but I'm not sure it will help. You can download it from timmyDean's thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307539
---------- Post added at 09:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:45 AM ----------
Another idea....Wipe data/Factory reset does not work in CWM because your data is encrypted. Why don't you just format data from "mounts and storage" menu in CWM? Or if you have a CWM backup before encryption to restore?
i did format data from mounts and storage and tried again but no success... and i quite foolishly did not do a backup...
... So EUU tool for flashing from the PC seems an option. Before that I would advise you to contact sc2k, or thor, or vache, or richardtrip, or digetx or anyone else from the devs that have a better knowledge how to deal with encrypted partitions. If the EUU can overwrite your encrypted data partition then you'll be saved
Try this:
Here's how to do what ACER tech support will tell you:
FACTORY RESET WITHOUT LOGON
ACER A500
1. Power Down
2. Make sure the Screen orientation is off (slide to left while landscape mode)
3. Hold down the right volume key (Volume up (+)).
4. Hold down the Power Button.
5. When it buzzes let go of the power but keep hold of the volume up button (+)
rock the screen orientation switch quickly back and forth once.
6. Should say :
Erasing Userdata....
Erasing Cache...
@ cruise350
i tried what u said but in vain...
Flash update to the new RA Recovery Revamped. Reset your partitions. It's in the Dev thread. Several posts in you'll find a zip you can flash through CWM recovery. I think there are 2 versions, but you can use either.
The author placed some instructions on how to format your all your EXT3 partitions to EXT4. Will probably nuke your encryption out (hope)
Just follow his instructions. IF he changed them, I ran the same instructions later in the thread.
Next time, don't flash a rom on an encrypted tablet.
EDIT: With this recovery, there are a ton of options available you seriously don't want to mess around with. Also, you could post your issue on his thread, and he may have some additional tips.
Also, did you try TimmyDeans tool?

I sent you in your PM, but if you did not get it, the link is;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459821
You'll find 1 or 2 zip files you can flash through your CWM to update your recovery. I guess you can still get to CWM recovery? Which version of CWM recovery do you have now?
EDIT: Your best is to post your issue on his thread, and ask if his recovery will be able to fix it. Before you do anything else.
If all else fails you can try this (You're entire hd will be formatted and all info, saves, etc will be lost)
Enter recovery
go to "backup and restore"
Click on "Toggle backup & Restore of internal storage"
It should then say enabled
then go to "mounts and storage" and "format/ data"

Power on, and unlock delay?!?

Yesterday after flashing I9505_XXUDMI1_WiFi_FIX.rar because i had wifi issues my device is slow in waking up. And when it waks up after a few of seconds (compleet random) and i try to swipe to unlock is takes a few of seconds to go to home screen. I tries 3 different roms, and even a stock rom. Also i tries flashing other modems but nothing helps.
Is flashing I9505_XXUDMI1_WiFi_FIX.rar irreversible. Or is it something else that is bothering me?
Help me please this s....s

What kind of wipe. I tried the recovery wipe, Is there another wipe? A flasheble wipe?
1 Perform factory reset
2 go to CWM recovery >advanced clear dalvik
3 clear cache
4 format cache partition (DO NOT FORMAT SYSTEM , JUST CHOSE FORMAT CACHE PARTITION)
5 FLASH a new rom i'd recomment Arrow Rom v8 or any other rom based on stock, but to install arrow you will first have to flash appropriate kernel so dont forget to do that (All instructions + links to kernels etc) are on thread's first page ......Installing a stock kernel + rom like this one may fix the issue

[Q] [Solved] Data not being formatted!

Hi,
I have installed Ultra Gb revolutionary 1.6 Rom and have been using it for a while. I wanted to remove all content on phone..so i tried to wipe data and reinstall the rom again. Rom flashed correctly and i rebooted the phone..but user apps were not removed, they are still on the phone.
I tried changing kernel, flash another rom, flashed utra gb again, the apps are still there, why?
You can try to conenct your sdcard to your PC and delete .android_secure, it contains sd apps that don't get deleted with /data
If it doesn't work you can use Wipe data option in settings :good:

Well, that may be a kernel issue! Try to install stock kernel/ROM via odin and get it all clean!

I think that's not the kernel, he said he tried to change it, i think he haves a problem because /data is not mounted,
OP use CWM and mount /data, then do wipe data & cache

While selecting Factory reset on cwm, data & cache are automatically mounted and both data, cache and .andtoid_secure is wiped! I'm jst sharing my experience, it happened with me few times while using percy_g2 kernel! The best option for me was odin!
In CWM in general partition is mounted when wiped, I think switching kernel and try again
Flash another CM kernel and wipe data then return to your kernel, or do a factory reset from setting in phone
Try to use odin. Your userdata.img may be Corrupted
Press Thanks if Helped
Well a simple solution to the problem :
1.Go to CWM,mount all the partitions and flash percy's kernel (CyanogenMod #2)
2.Go back and then go to advanced > reboot recovery
3.Now you'll be in Percy's recovery and from there, under mounts and storage, format data and format cache.
4.Go back and then go to mounts and storage and mount all the partitions.
5.Flash back to bieltv.3's kernel and reboot.
Finally, i had to flash flash stock Rom via Odin and go back to ultra gb.. Thanks for all the help guys

"E: Failed to sysmapfile" during Custom ROM installation?

Hello XDA! First off I'd like to say that I'm so glad there's a dedicated community of Android users who are willing to share their experiences and help others.
Nothing like a good tech community that have their comrades backs!
So I've been trying to iron out all the issues with running a custom ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGH-i337m) for a few days now.
I've soft bricked this little dude 5-10 times and have always been able to figure out what I may have done wrong or how to fix it with the help of other people's help threads.
Slowly but surely I'm grasping more and more about how android works, I'm glad for that!
The only real issue is that I managed to get stuck with an error that doesn't really have an answer that I've been able to find so far.
THE ERROR DETAILS:
Recovery: TWRP v2.8.4.0
ROM: cm-12-20150312-OPTIMIZED-jflte.zip

Full on-screen error log:

My additional questions and details:
1. I used the Advanced Wipe feature in TWRP with these checked: Dalvik Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage, Cache
---- is this part of the reason why I'm having issues? (is it because I wiped System?)
2. I have reverted back to the stock ROM for this phone (Koodo Canadian SGH-i337m), I have no issues except I don't like the stock rom (ew touchwiz) but still can't install a custom ROM, WHY?!
Thanks for taking the time to read this and giving me whatever answer you have for me!
1. When you do your wipes only wipe data and the caches. If your rom was on the internal sd card when you wiped internal sd card you wiped your rom too.
2. Do you have any other issues reading from your external sd card? It looks like to me that that is the problem. You might have to reformat it and start over.

I only wiped Dalvik Cache, Cache, Data, System, and Internal Storage.
I'll revert back to stock rom, reformat my SD card, re-load my stuff on to the SD, then I'll post what happens when I try to flash the CM12 Rom with TWRP.
FIXED / SOLVED
Thank you for your help jd1639
Anyone who reads this in the future looking to fix their problem this was the solution I used:
Use Odin to flash back to your STOCK ROM (close after PASS message)
Settings -> Storage -> Format SD Card
Plug into computer, Add your files back to the SD Card (ROM, gApps, etc...)
Power OFF phone
Boot into Download Mode (Hold: Down Volume, Home, Power buttons simultaneously until you see the warning message - Press volume up and accept the dangers)
Open fresh Odin, Load TWRP or other recovery with the PDA option - Press Start)
Phone should reboot, wait for it to reboot and Odin to say PASS
Unplug phone from computer
Power OFF
Boot into Recovery mode (Hold: Up Volume, Home, Power buttons simultaneously until you see the booting recovery message)
TWRP starts
Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> CHECK BOXES: System, Data, Dalvik Cache, Cache NOTHING ELSE!
Go back to the main page when you regain control
Install -> *locate your SD card with ROMs* -> Select desired ROM -> ADD MORE ROMS -> Select compatible gApps -> INSTALL
Wait for reboot
Follow on screen ROM settings tooltip
IF YOU FOLLOWED THESE STEPS EVERYTHING SHOULD WORK!
(if it doesn't work, it's probably your ROM or gApps that caused the issue)
