I've searched for a fix for this error but all it brings up are like 100 page threads and I can't get to the exact page. Does anybody know how I can stop getting this to pop up? I've tried switching roms but the next one does it as well. Any tips?
Nobody knows a fix for this one?
For me, turning off Sync Browser in sync settings for my Google account fixed this problem. I am using a HP Touch pad though, but should be the same on any android device.

Same thing is happening on my touchpad when I click sync browser that comes up. Turning it off is fine with me thanks for the tip.
This happened to me occasionally when I was running a custom rom but since I updated to the next version of the rom and flashed gapps, it hasn't come back. There did not appear to be a reason or rhyme. I tried to reinstall chrome and gmail but not sure of the results. May want to try that.

process com.google.process.gapps has stopped working
I have the same problem. The only difference that I know exactly when happened and what is the reason.
I upgraded to JellyBean, but just before that I force stopped some running apps thinking of a "clear" upgrade (WRONG).
Then after the upgrade (I was rooted before it) I opened Titanium Backup and noticed that some applications were showing as uninstalled ???
I did not uninstall them - but somehow they ended up uninstalled after the upgrade.
I suppose this happened because I stopped those few processes just before upgrading.
Now the applications showed as uninstalled are: "DRM Storage Protected..." Media Storage" , "Gallery" and some more
All those missing now ... I cannot start Google Store at all !? It opens for a second and closes itself. Tried to restore those with Titanium Backup but it does not restore them ... just runs endlessly.
PLEASE HELP !
I would try to flash the factory rom, unless you are using custom, flash the custom with gapps.

Here's the most simple fix. Remove your Google account and add it again.

It's been driving me nuts.
As soon as my Nexus 7 boots I get the message.
I removed my Google account and re-entered my details.
The message popped up again as soon as the account was added.
I'm on the stock 4.2.1 rooted ROM.
Factory reset next without restoring a backup.
Speaking of backup. When I used the ADB restore command.
I had the message that my device will restart. It did. I then had the Restore screen on my Nexus 7.
I hit Restore my data button or whatever it's called, and my tablet reset immediately. And no data was restored to my Nexus.
It's seems that is broken too.
I cleared Data and Cache of Browser (my stock Browser) and error disappeared, problem fixed...
I'm having this issue as well. Started happening after I flashed Paranoid Android 2.99 Beta 6 and the current gApps zip.

Did you tried this? (Comment before yours)
Finally cured it on my stock rooted Nexus 7.
Factory wipe and didn't restore any system apps.
So far so good.
I tried every other trick in the book.
So in the end, a wipe was the only option.

I just solved this on my Nexus. It was one of the google apps having a sync issue. I solved it by turning each one off till the error stopped then uninstalling it and reloading it.
TWRP 2.3.3 installed via Goomanager.
With rooted stock ROM 4.2.1 I used GooManager to download latest Paranoid Android 2.99 Beta 9 and GAPPS-JB-20121011.zip.
Factory reset and wipe of Cache & Dalvik then flashed PA from Goomanager
Nexus booted into PA
Opened Goo manager and flashed the GAPPS I'd already downloaded.
Nexus boots into unlock screen but then says "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" and when that is cleared I get "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped" over and over again.
I don't get an opportunity to do anything other that re-boot into recovery.
I've re-flashed GAPPS by itself over the top, as well as PA and have tried, from within TWRP, to flash both one after the other. I always get the same errors.
Any advice please?
[Edit #1]
Used Wug's NRT 1.6.1 to flash back to stock, unlock and rooted again.
Installed Goo Manager again and downloaded GAPPS and PA 2.99 and going to see what happens.
and.....
Exactly the same problem!
[Edit #2]
Solved.
There was a later version of GAPPS that Goo didn't have listed.
Hoping someone can help. After stopping the Google Framework service and clearing data, my 7 will find and download the 4.2 update. When installing the update, at about 25% complete, the Android logo with the red triangle shows up and I have to do a reset to get it to reboot. The update is never found without stopping the framework service. This is a completely stock 7 if it helps.
If this has been answered before I apologize. I did search and didn't see the same issue out there.
Thanks.

You said you are completely stock, meaning you have never unlocked, rooted, installed a custom recovery, frozen apps, etc., correct? Unless you got a bad download it should install just fine. Did you get any sort of error message? That can help determine what failed. Be careful with stopping and clearing the framework settings. You will have to delete your Google account and sign back in to be able to use the Play Store again.

Take a look at the 'Nexus 7 Update Problem' thread in this forum. You may just have to install a factory image for 4.1.2 or 4.2.

The only thing I have done is put in my gmailaccount. Thats it. No error messages just the triangle.
I have deleted my google account and made several resets but with the same outcome.
I had a similar issue, before the update it does a comparison of certain system files and system apk's and if it fails it gives you the red exclamation mark.I ended up talking apart a 4.1.2 factory image and replacing various apk's but i had to install twrp in order to find out which ones were bad.
I wouldnt be to keen to update at this point, other than the multiuser function there really isnt anything of benefit in 4.2.
Same here.
I just got my Nexus 7 back from Asus (again...). Factory reset with 4.1.2. Signed in with my Google account, got the update notification, tried to update after it downloaded, N7 rebooted, started process, Android dead with red triangle. Completely reset to factory specs again, signed in with Google account, stopped all downloads and updates, tried update again, same thing.
I'm going to try one more time by not signing in after another factory reset (if I can...never tried it) and see if that does the trick, but I'm not hopeful.
EDIT: It didn't work. Only other thing I can think of is that I'm plugged into a PC (trickle-charge) and because you have to be plugged in to apply the update, MAYBE it's failing during the install due to lack of full power coming through the charge cable. No other reasons I can think of at this point. Anyone else trying to update while on trickle charge? If so, anyone try on full A/C power?
Are you in the US?
Wondering if it's because I am in a foreing country.

I got notification out of the blue that the update was available. It failed again. I did a factory data reset hoping that would help. Tried the update again after installing NO apps. Failed again.
Any other suggestions?
I'm having the same issue. I wanted to keep my N7 stock and unrooted, but I may just have to root it and flash the update manually via recovery. It's kinda of a bummer.

I tried with a VPN and didn't work.
I'm still receiving the OTA update and every single time it fails.
Then I tried the recovery mode and didn't work.
I'm quitting on this.

Yes. I had the same issue (similar story to SWBailey), and the only way I could get the update was by flashing Google factory stock 4.2.1.
I have the same problem in Spain, I bougth the tablet (32G) last week. The attach image show you more information about the problem.
same issue, fastboot or root!
i have the same issue... a couple off guys recomended fastboot(doesnt need root as far as i get it)i... i think it might be do to having a 32gb but no 3g version, which i think is only available in countries other than usa... im from serbia for instance im probably gonna end up rooting it and flashing a custom rom
I called to the Asus support, and they sent me an email with the following instructions, I can´t finished all the steps because in the step number 5, the tablet never restarts, Something is wrong. I am going to send the tablet to the seller.
1. If the computer is on, please turn it off.
2. Press the power button volume button (-) and the volume button (+)
at the same time;
3. Press the volume button (-) twice to initiate the procedure "
Recovery "
4 Press power button to select.
5: After you restart the recovery mode hold the button
on and the volume button (+)
6. Use the volume keys to select the option to wipe data / factory reset "and press
the power button to select that option.
7 Scroll down to the Yes option. to clear the data and press the
on to select that option.
Same here...completely stock too! Tried 3 times... :/
If it doesn't work the fourth time, I will try to return it for a new one. Still in my 14 days..

Did you clear your framework services cache to get the update maybe? This is one of the symptoms I have read about.
I think the fix was to delete your playstore account on the Nexus and then sign in again.
Others may have better input.
Yeah, sign out and back in. Should fix that.
Ok will try that could not even downloadf any other app either.
Ok i deleted the play account and added a different one and same problem, cant get any apps stuck on downloasding progress bar.
Also how do do you sign out of the account
Also i did download the update to 4.2 via framework clear method.
Iv added a different account google play store I'm still does not work
Go into settings apps find google play click on it .. Clear cache and data .. reboot your tablet
If that does not work . and only then .
go into settings accounts google.. in the google account at the top right click the ... then delete account. REBOOT. it will prompt you to set up your Google account again once it boots backup...
This should Solve your troubles. If not and only then go into settings apps all
FIND GOOGLE FRAMEWORK .. clear data in there..
Good Luck
Ok brb gonn try the above
Done all of the above still not working just shows downloading bar and doesnt download anything time for an rma?

scratch that idea then..... DOH
Im thinking this is software more than hardware issue. Anyone know how to fix this? Id hate to have to do a full wipe on the tablet to try and resolve this,
Get on your computer... Go to play.google.com. log in..
find a simple app and click install.. See if it will install the app to your Nexus 7 ...
or if the nexus is grayed out...if grayed out try a few apps. that we know should work in the nexus. .
This will check to see if your tab has been disabled with wallet... if you can push to the device its just a bug and play store is down for you wait a hour...
By the way ARE you totally stock .. ?
if not whats your configuration
totally stock, not even rooted. will try when i get back home later today,
I had this issue on a rooted N7 with TWRP. After I managed to get the update side loaded, nothing would update and the poor darling vanished from the Google Play website as well. I had to do a factory reset. Then everything was golden. I didn't even lose root, thanks to OTA Rootkeeper.
i didnt even try to sideload the update, all i did was the clear framework cache thingy and then update came and i updated it,
not happy with this if i have to start sideloading all my apps from now on since i dont want to be wiping it to factory settings, i will try the suggestion above when i get home though and see if play store is working, may just let it keep downloading for an hour or so and see if that works.
I think it was the framework clearing that may have caused it. I too tried that step to try and force the update to download. T'was all bad man. However, once I factory reset it, I just left it plugged into power and went out for dinner, when I got back it had downloaded all the apps I had registered on Google Play. Amazon was a different beast of course. By all means, let it percolate and it might fix itself, just keep that reset in mind.
will do, when i get home will leave the tablet on and let it keep trying to install the apps,
when it goes into standby mode when the screen powers off will it still be trying to install the apps in the background or does in standby mode the install process stop?
Hey everyone, well, school is starting soon and mine uses an organizational email, but when I went to try and add an account on my N4 it gave me the "Could not connect to server" error, I have been reading for ways to fix it and have tried some, from rebooting to moving apk and odex files to the system partition, none of these worked. I've tried setting up a corporate account and that didn't work either.
I am on 4.3 stock rooted, I received the OTA for 4.3 the first day I heard reports of it coming out, I installed it and realized I had to re-root, did so and now Root checker app says it's still rooted, everything works fine, not only does the email error come up, but the 4.3 system update notification is reappearing. I go to install it, it reboots to TWRP and I get an error in the log and it stays in recovery, no "Android is upgrading" prompt on reboot.
Anybody have a clue? I've read other posts about other users email not working after 4.3, anybody else have this 4.3 update reappear?
Any help is appreciated, thanks all.
Screens below:
The update is a new one. Only 1.8 mb but yes it does have the same message as the 4.3 update. No idea about the email problem. Also, ota updates do not work when your device is not 100% stock no modifications at all

Yes I have thoroughly confirmed it's the phone, I've tried multiple emails and settings
Hiya there, on the 15 th of January 2015 my nexus 7 (2012 wifi only) had a software update to the new 5.0.2. I decided to install it and at the end of the installation, it said 'error'. I decided to wait to see what would happen next and it started up my nexus 7. When i tried going on the device, I kept recieving the message 'Google keyboard has stopped' i was getting really frustrated and to solve the problem I factory reset my nexus 7. When I set up my nexus 7, i was never given the option to add my gmail account. I went on Settings>Accounts>add account and there was still no option to add a gmail account This made my problem worse as now i can't access the play store. When i went on the Gmail app it says 'this app wont run without google play services I even tried to download the apk but there was still no solution. Does anyone have a solution?
