My Note 3 didn't have a region sticker - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There has been a lot of news and debate about Samsung's new region lock on newer devices. I preorderd my Note 3 on Negri Electronics
SKU: SMGN9005UB
Upon opening the box, there was 2 travel adapters for the UK and the US. I started to get nervous. I grabbed the Note 3 box and to my surprise there was no region sticker saying "this phone can only be used in......"
The phone seems to have come from Malaysia, build number JSS15J.N9005XXUBMI7

[Q] Country of origin for GSII sold on Newegg.com

Anyone know the country of origin of the GSII that Newegg.com is selling?
It doesn't look like it's Europe because in the product picture tour it has what looks to be a US travel charger. Other vendors that sell the GSII show European chargers with a US converter added.
Central, South American maybe?
Bump? Talked to Newegg in an email and they replied made in Korea....sigh.....
Sigh? You rather want one made in china? Remember samsung is in korea.
No, i wanted to know where they imported this phone from not where it was actually manufactured.
Get it from Expansys, they should be shipping UK phones now that supply is keeping up with demand. Tell them you want a UK phone when you place the order and you should be fine. If it ends up being something else, they're easy to work with for exchanges too. They'll also ship the phone back to the UK for you should you ever need warranty work whereas the newegg.com phone is sold without a warranty.
I bought mine from overseaselectronics.com and it came with U.S. samsung OEM charger and last but least it's made in china...but the quality of the phone is top notch, I don't think it's a knock offs....Oh...this version of the phone when you first power on the phone it's in different language as a default.
I just got my SG2 from newegg yesterday. I can't tell where it's from. I guess I'll have to do some more reading to find out what the differences are.

I bought mine from Amazon. It's from Claro carrier in Chile, but I flashed the European ROMs with XEU and they update just fine in KIES.
Thanks nraudigy2.
I did get mine from newegg.com and from what I can tell it's not from Korea.

Samsung basebands and fake devices

In my experience, a real Samsung device will have the model # as the first few characters of the baseband, am I right or wrong?
My question is about determining fakes: Will a fake device have a baseband set up to look like a real Samsung baseband or will the fake device always have a baseband that looks nothing like a Samsung version?
I saw this webpage about fakes appearing in Thailand: http://www.soyacincau.com/2014/04/2...d-in-bangkok-and-it-looks-like-the-real-deal/. The basband shown in the photos looks nothing like anything I've ever seen on a Samsung device. I was just wondering if that holds true for all fakes - basically, would checking the baseband be the absolute fool-proof way to determine a fake device?
I live in Vietnam and Samsung makes their phones here. I see mobile store buying parts (still the exact parts from official phones) from unofficial sources, put it together and copy the official imei of an official phone to cheat the customers. Then they put them in boxes with seal and papers look exactly like a new phone...Those Samsung phones (most popular is note2 s4 note3 s5) works like **** and often have China battery and other parts.
The stores often tell the customers that those phone is carried from abroad and sell it at a cheaper price. (I bought mine at Samsung showroom for 800$ and they sell theirs for 600$)
It's best to buy from certified retailers.

T-Mobile Retail Note 4 Box Retail Printed in USA

I purchased a Note 4 from T-Mobile's website. The back of the sleeve states Printed in USA. And the box states Printed in the USA. Box Made in Mexico. Also, the Android logo on the back of the box looks different from the box made in Vietnam. According to the package, the phone was packaged / manufactured 12/12/2014.
Somethings not ringing here. From all the unboxing videos of the T-Mobile Note 4 I came across online and in-store, they all state Printed in Vietnam on the back of the box.
Is this a repackaged Note 4?
Would greatly appreciate clarification here. Thanks

[Q] Is my S5 real or fake?

I know I'm probably just being paranoid from watching too many videos of near-perfect S5 clones, but here goes... I just got a Charcoal Black 16GB SGS5 (SM-G900F). From what I have seen so far, it has all the features a real S5 should have, such as a working fingerprint scanner, air gestures, Air View, NFC, or a slow-motion camera. The screen is vibrant and responsive, and the flash/pulse sensor looks like the real deal rather than a sticker. The device automatically downloaded an update after I connected it to WiFi, and I was able to import the contacts from my old S2 using Kies. I ran the Phone Info app, which informed me that it is a genuine Vietnamese-made phone with a Qualcomm processor. However, there are a couple things that bug me. First off, the sticker underneath the battery does not state the device's country of origin, it just says "Made by Samsung" and "Samsung, Yateley, GU46 6CG, UK" (which appears to be Samsung's European QA lab). Also, while the IMEI on the sticker matches the one on the box and the one that shows up when I dial *#06#, it belongs to a 2004 LG flip phone according to imei.info, and a couple other IMEI check sites couldn't recognize it at all (only one identified it as an S5). Moreover, although the phone responds to most Samsung codes, there are some that don't work - for example *#0011*# (which someone on here said meant the phone is fake).
Thanks you in advance for your replies!
Hi,
Where did you buy it from?
I cant run that code on my s5 sm-G900F either, the fact it runs with kies and slow mo and all the other bits suggests to me its a real one. Entirely possible some sites match it to an old phone, IMEI numbers can be recycled when phones are destroyed. You could check your warranty status with Samsung to check its a real one?

Do a hardware test. Look especially at screen results if it's 1080 or 720. If 720 then it's fake

i just tried the last code you mentioned - it should be *#0011# without the last * you entered. In addition, my galaxy s5 also has the Made by SAMSUNG and not the country of origin underneath the battery. I do not think you have any reason to be worried. Enjoy your new phone!
I bought it from a store (with nearly 100% positive feedback) via my country's leading auction/shopping website (similar to eBay). I've read on here that someone has spotted Note 3 clones at a market in China that could connect to Kies, which worried me a bit. On the other hand, no pictures of said clones were posted, and the Kies software in question could have been a dummy app set up by the seller. Besides, I know it's a dumb question, but how can I check the warranty status? I searched the official Samsung site, but found nothing.
EDIT: I tried the code again without the * and it works, and the screen resolution is 1080x1920 according to the "Screen Resolution and Density" app from Play Store. What's odd is that it shows a density of 480 ppi, whereas the specs say it's 432. Anyway, thanks for everyone's replies!
Hi
mine is a S5 Duos (SM-G900FD) brought from Bahrain in it's sticker it clearly says "Made in China by Samsung" and beneath "Samsung, Yateley, GU46 6GG, UK"

Dont`t worry. Your phone is certainly the real one. If it have all the features of a real one it should be the real one but if it syncs with Kies (which yours does), it's definitely the real one.
wrong code
You're wrong. The code is *#0011# and not *#0011*#

i need frimware yateley gu46 6gg uk devaice smg920 f please help me
A original S5 battery is "Made in KOREA, Assembled in Vietnam" in Battery info.
---------- Post added at 05:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:26 PM ----------
Simple update your S5 firmware (download from https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/) (Download The CORRECT firmware for your region), Extract .TAR file, Update using ODIN(AP Flash Button) Using flash Options "Nand Erase, F. Reset and auto reboot"
If work, Is a original S5.

Bought an S8 with broken seal. Should I keep it?

I bought a s8 dual sim (on 6.9.2017), where the seal on the package was broken. The package looked suspicious, so I filmed the unboxing. Someone put a seal over the original one. The Samsung seal below was cut.
So I returned to the dealer and he told me it must have been the importer who checked the phone. Now Im trying to find out if the phone was used before. Used the "Phone INFO ★Samsung★" App to check
Congratulations!
Your phone is ORIGINAL.

the price was around 615 euro, thats 25 euro more than the cheapest new non dual sim s8 around. but 150 euro less than the average price for a s8 duos.
What do you think happened here. Is it a refurbished/used phone? Or did someone just check the package. What would you do? I really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance
For what you are getting at the price, I wouldn't really be worried about the Seal, If you are buying from a company like eglobal central which is a UK website but phone ships from Korea etc, the phones always come with the seal broken but the device itself is new, I have read somewhere also that although some models will work outside of their country of sale, but you need to make a 5 minutes call from the country of original release before it can be used from another country, I am not sure how true this is.
Read the comment on this link https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-s8-sm-g950-g955-model-number-differences/
Most of these devices coming from outside of europe will probably arrive with the seal broken especially if buying from ebay so I wouldnt be worried really.
I am just about to buy a SM-G955 (Korea) 6GB/128GB on ebay UK, coming from ireland or Korea. I intend to flash with a Europe/Uk CSC once I receive it.
Yeah sounds reasonable. That's also the reason why I didn't return the phone immediately, because I remembered reading on a website from a legit dealer that they open the package to remove the region lock. But I got a little bit paranoid because the dealer seemed suspicious and after checking with the phone info app i got this weird warning that the manufacturing date does not match with the serial number, which is weird.
Thanks for your advice.
