If you are rooted, I would do a nice backup and start fresh (factory reset).
Random bits of leftover data are usually what cause little annoying bugs like that. Also for the battery, use a wake lock app to see if any app/service is constantly waking up the device, and not letting it sleep

Nope , not rooted, never was. i update when the notification came and that is all. I did two resets and still the same.(all of them were "clean" resets , meaning i unselected the option to restore all my data.)

Hmm.. So you updated over WiFi? Like the ota? Since you have already reset, I would flash the phone stock 4.3 using either a toolkit you find here, or through fastboot if you have the know-how.
Because doing a wipe clears data, but if there is a problem with the actual system files you need to reflash it

[Q] Phone seems to be infected by a Trojan

A few days ago my phone arrived from Ebay. I set it up and all was OK until I put it on the wireless charger. Then I noted that someone started to remotely operate the phone - to switch applications and so on.
During the set-up I upgraded to 4.3 and installed stuff from big and known companies (Facebook, Microsoft, etc.), all from Google Play. I haven't installed anything else. Usually I am very careful with what I install on my devices because I've been developing software for long time and have some experience with security (although this is my first Android phone).
After I noted the issue I restored the phone to its factory settings, installed even less apps, however I experienced the same. The hacker even wrote something playful.
Could you pls tell me how to find out what is going on? Like how was it possible to put a Trojan that would survive an Android update and a factory restore? How to find the Trojan and so on. I later installed some antivirus/antimalware that reported that the phone is clean.
Thank you.

Weird! What did the hacker wrote if I may ask?
I assume this is AndroRat, you can google on how to remove it (I wouldn't know).
Keep is updated!

Factory restore doesn't touch tree system partition, so if the offending app was placed there resetting won't do anything.
Download the factory images from Google and flash them. It will revert you to complete stock

Disconnect it from the net whilst you investigate to protect data

as said above disconnect from wifi and remove your sim card. First thing i would do is use one of the toolkit to unlock or lock bootloader (it completely wipes everything); then do a factory reset. That should do the the trick. If the problem persist contact the police.
Locking our unlocking your bootloader doesn't wipe everything. It wipes userdata. It doesn't touch the system partition. As I said previously. The only surefire way to ensure a complete wipe is either to fully wipe all partitions and install a custom Rom.
Or if you wish to stay stock, download the nexus 4 stock images and flash them.
Doing this will erase all user data & all system data
It will then put stock files back on

It seems like someone else is having the same behavior with their phone. Maybe it has something to do with the type of wireless charger.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440115
It's probably just wireless charger bugging up the capacitive screen, try the stuff from above and when you flash a new image don't use the wireless charger for few days and see if it still happens.

[Q] Sudden wifi slowdown

My phone is running 4.3 rooted stock, i never had problems with my wifi speed before but it suddenly just slowed down yesterday. First, i thought that it was the wifi itself but my laptop and other devices were getting "normal" speeds. Is there something wrong with my n4? I hardly can send messages from messenger, loading a webpage takes too long etc. i do not want to do a factory reset as i only have 600+ mb storage left which means backing up would take a very very long time. How did this happen? Has anyone had this trouble before?
a factory reset doesnt touch your storage, only your user data.

yup, if you just factory reset it only clears the user data. if you wipe the device, thats a completely different story.you can enable it in the phones settings, but your apps will restore themselves, plus much of their data.

Phone freezing on me

Strange problem. My phone freezes on me every 35-40 hours of power on. I need to remove battery and restart the phone for it to work. I could be just be in the app drawer or playing a graphic intensive game the phone would just freeze.
I don't know why this would happen to an otherwise wonderful phone. Snappy fast and great battery otherwise.
I've done the official Sammy firmware upgrade OTA and the phone is stock unrooted
Any clues?

Try to use without ext sd card if there is any & observe.
Hey guys, I just wanted to share my experience with my SM-N9005 that's a week old today.
When I first unboxed it, it slipped in my sim card and 64GB sdcard and turned the phone on.
During the second or third screen of the wizard, the phone froze and rebooted.
After that, I went through the wizard again with no problems and finally to the homescreen.
I noticed on the status bar that the Play Store is failing to install / recover a whole host of apps and during that, I received that "Prevention Information" nonsense, the phone froze and rebooted after I tapped to see if I can find this app but all it showed me one was app, which was the Play Store services. I assume, maybe the apps failed because the services and Play Store wanted to update.
Well after all of that, there are times when the "Prevention Information" comes up, the phone won't freeze and soft restart (Just show the Samsung logo and come back to the homescreen with one or two vibrations) right away but eventually. There have been instances, where for example, I would be in the BBM for Android app or WhatsApp when this happens and return with no chat history but that happened once or twice, I think there was another instance that I lost information but that might not necesserily be an emmc issue but due to a sudden reboot or freeze without being able to save properly.
I also get a notification toast that I am running low on memory when I have plenty of memory left. (I would start seeing this around and after 10GBs have been used)
Things I have tried:
Factory Reset from the menu option.
Factory Reset from Recovery.
PC ODIN to the very first .tar ROM with corresponding CSC (XME) for my handset.
Removed the sdcard to see if it was that.
Nothing worked but the problems aren't as frequent.
I can't play games for too long because it will soft reboot. The phone does get warm quickly, which is a concern.
I think that's about it, I do love the phone but if this continues and this is a Samsung bug, I might just hold off from sending it back and buy a Nexus 5.
Samsung has been having too many issues with their handsets like faulty emmc chips, sudden bricked phones, multi-touch screen issues, etc.
This will be my last Samsung device either way but I am hoping that there's a fix because if I send it back, that's that.
I'm thinking of returning mine and sticking with the s4 to much hassle I've factory reset my device and left out my 64gb we card and see where it goes from here.

Losing wifi passwords

Hi guys
i have noticed after the update to kitkat
My saved wifi passwords are reseting for a reason
Does anyone has this problem too?
Yes I have it to every time I reboot phone I must put my password again! Look in build prop for this line: ro.securestorage.support=true and make from true in false
Then save! And reboot phone! After reboot it can be that you must put once more your password and then it is good! Let me know if it is working ok?

*muses* Did I not already answer this question on the T-Mobile Forums? Don't suppose you go by "FrancineB" there?
Did you disable Auto Network Switch?
Don't suppose it has something to do with the firmware version? Mine remembers the WiFi passwords without issue... Even after the 50th reboot.

I have the same with my non rooted Note 3 Android 4,4,2.
I lose all my stored wifi settings/ paswords randomly .
I think it is after rebooting, but I only notice it when I am going to another place with a different WIFI router, checking if I am on line. There I see all the stored wifi connections are lost.
Can be weeks without loosing them . It happened three times now in a period of four months or so.
I have many wifi addresses stored on my ( super duper) Note 3.
Huib
After weeks without problems today I lost all my WiFi passwords again.
What happened was that I was in a Skype voice call that hung.the only thing I could do was reboot.
First I was happy the Wi-Fi settings where still there but next morning they all were gone.
I guess android synched wrong?
Normally when I reboot no passwords are lost.

Hi guys!
I have the same problem with my Note 3, International version SM-N9005, updated with 4.4.2. The phone is fully sock, no root no nothing...
Sometimes my phone lost all my saved wi-fi passwords, it happened yesterday, happened again today, i didn´t reboot the phone.
This is very anoying and i dont know what to do, its a new device with only 4 months, i really like it a lot but this is driving me crazy..
Any help or solution? Did anybody here with the same issue solved the problem?
Thks in advance!
Same here, once a week all settings gone. 2 colleagues have the same phone (SM-N9005) but they lose them less often. one of them never lost his wifi settings for now.
Is this perhaps related on installed apps that some app is bugging this settings?
I wonder if there is an update in course to correct these issues. They're getting too much... I am so sad that we can't freely root our devices because Samsung doesn't intend to update Note3 so soon..
Happened again today, yesterday i restore my wifi settings with Kies, and today morning all of them are lost again.... i´m getting really tired of this, i love my phone but this is nuts!!!
Does anyone here have a fix or at least an explanation for this issue? I can´t understand the reason of this issue, the device it´s not rooted, so i don´t think that a app could access and/or modify/delete the wifi data.
Perhaps we should look in to comparing firmware, apps and versions?
I'm not experiencing it.

Well, here it is....
It has happened to me as well. Probably around 3 times in the last two months. For me though I've never rebooted my phone when it occurs. I'll have wireless one minute look at phone later and they're all deleted. Quite frustrating.

[Q] Galaxy S4 Constantly Restarts

Bit of an annoying problem, my Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 (Rooted) constantly restarts at random now and again, and it can be very frustrating.
Also, I have the app 'App Master', which when the phone is restarted it shows the boot up time. When my phone randomly restarts, the boot up time could literally say it took hours (It's went as high as 40 hours... not sure if this is relevant or will help but yea...)
Also I get logged out of everything (facebook, twitter...) whenever my phone restarts which is very annoying.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

See if the same happens in download mode too.
If yes..you have a stuck power button.
If no, have you removed all the knox related apps? they cause this too. Deknox your phone.
If still persists, data wipe or flash stock rom..disable knox first via recovery..then proceed with normal rooting..

Yeah. Knox is the culprit then.
Check the i9505 rooting methods and if any deknox script is there.
Or simply if you are rooted..install the "system app uninstaller" app from the play store..(a red recycle bin logo app) and delete all knox content.
Bdw you wont be able to use knox anyway if you have a knox trigger

Screen not being usable is the issue of the charger. Try changing the data cable.
Restarting issue could've been linked to a partial stuck power button or maybe because of an improper way of flashing or improper way of flashing kernels
Bdw did you change it or get it changed.?

Hello, it's a weird case.
Try to download the latest firmware available and update through Odin, then install a custom ROM (to fast de-Knox). Install CM11 M9 and leave original kernel, let your battery discharge until power off, connect to the charger and power on. Don't use it, see if charger more than 80% without reboots
