I rooted my Nexus 7 a few months back and I was still using stock android 4.2.2. Today I decided I wanted to start using 4.3 but when I tried to update it gave me an error. I then proceeded to do a factory reset on my tablet hoping that would help, it didn't now it wouldn't let me click the buttons or connect to any Google services. I then downloaded the Nexus Root Toolkit and clicked the Flash Stock + Unroot button. I proceeded with all the steps but when my computer said it was finished my tablet didn't restart, I tried to turn it on but it keeps saying "Booting Failed" I need help please!!! Thank you for any help.

I have a stock rooted Nexus 10 running 4.2.1. After the system prompt me that an update is available and I clicked yes to update, now it is stuck at infinite boot screen loop with error message. I had to go into CWM to manually shut it down.
What should I do?
I initially rooted the nexus 10 using the method described here with a PC

I think I did something silly!
From the UK. I rooted my phone a while back after my friend told me all about it. I used the Nexus Toolkit V2.0.0
I am selling the phone and needed to go back to stock. So I flashed stock android 4.2.2. back successfully.
Then I saw this option saying Unroot on the toolkit (Option 4 the Option 5 (Unroot, uninstall Busybox + CMN recovery)), So I did that without thinking and now when I boot the phone it gets stuck on the Nexus X loading screen. When I turn it off it just starts up again and goes back into the Nexus X loading screen.
What do I do? Thanks!

ask the toolkit developer.
the right way to do it(unroot and go back to stock) is to not use a toolkit, but to flash the factory via fastboot.

I downloaded the official OTA update. When I went to install it the phone needed to reboot and now I've been stuck looking at the Green Android screen saying Downloading... Do not turn off target!!! and in very small writing could not do normal boot, Odin mode. I am rooted. Please help
What version is the phone? I'm reading up on things in preparation of updating myself. I'm on MF3 and for what I've read I need to Odin back to stock before updating since I'm rooted. This may not be your case figured I'd toss it out there.

Ok I am going to try to go back to stock by using a firmware DL and Odin v3.07 If it works I will tell everyone. If not I may be screwed.
I'm currently on MF3 and had rooted my device previously and would like to upgrade to the new OTA. Would someone be so kind to link me to ODIN and the stock file,so I may return to stock and apply the OTA.
Thank you,
Did anyone go to recovery and factory reset?

I'd recommend it but it's to late for me.
This worked for me to unroot.
To unroot, try this. It worked for me. I'm back to "official". However, I've downloaded 4.3 like 5 times already. I can download 100%, but when it reboots to install it stops at 30% then says update failed.

Same exact problem!
wading through threads for answer!
Ok I have my phone working again. I am not on 4.3 but its back to where it was before I started, which is better than nothing. After running Odin once and it failing like it always does (I have never seen it work) I was able to get the holding down volume, home and power button option to work and I just said no and to reboot and it worked. I then went into SuperSU app and unrooted. I will try to update to 4.3 at a later time. I am glad I wasn't the only one having issues. I usually pride myself on knowing technology and being able to figure it out.

I had the same problem. The only way I was finally able to upgrade to 4.3 was to use Odin to revert to stock (unrooted) 4.2.2 MF3 using the files on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2502003 Once I did that I ran the OTA update to 4.3 and it worked without any problems.
So if I oden to stock again don't root Then hit the update it should go? Weird thing is I installed my back up today and it a stock backup fresh rich from a oden wipe and it stared DL on its own before I stopped it with killing WiFi. I s this 4.3 update or is it mf3 since I never did that update. ..help. Thanks

Take it to Best Buy. "Kies broke your phone" *wink*wink* and they can flash it back to stock without messing up your data. You can do it yourself. Plus they have this mysterious awesome SMART tool. Lol

Use the link in my previous post (post #13). That has the files and procedures for using Odin to get back to stock 4.2.2 and then you can do the OTA upgrade from there.
Hello,
i have the problem that my Nexus 4 got stucked while i was updating to 5.0.1 and now im only in Bootloop and cant do anything. My Data on the Phone is really important, I only need a method to safe them . But the second problem is that my Bootloader is locked and i dont have rooted my Phone, so is there any chance to safe the phone with any method?
Greets,
Durood
If you can define the procedure you followed for updating to Android 5.0.1, then I can think of something.

Well, your phone isn't dead but you might have to wipe your phone. I'd start with doing a factory reset in the stock recovery. That will wipe your device
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
Go to stock recovery and you can trying wiping /cache first, and then reboot. If that does not work, go back and do a full wipe.
Did you use the toolkit? If so, this happens everytime for some reason. Your phone is not broken. Just give it some time after rebooting and should bring you to the setup menus.
Hi all ,
I got a notification that the 5.1 update is available in my phone. I pressed download and afterwards install, but when the phone reboots to install the update, after 3-4 seconds it just says "Error!" and nothing more.
Has anybody experienced this?
My phone has stock 5.0.1 and it's rooted.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

You can't be rooted. You have to be 100% stock system, kernel, and recovery for the ota to work.

Download it from here. Install the driver using the instruction in the same link. Then connect your phone in debugging mode. Consider the "backup" as well. you can backup your phone in the program(nexus root toolkit). Though, during the procedure, the program asked me if I want to preserve my data, and I said yes and there was no need to restore the backup (however it says that it might not work sometimes , so you should consider the backup).
select "Flash Stock+Unroot" in the program and select the andoird 5.1 from the list.
After it's done, let the phone boot up and then select root in the program. It will restart your phone couple of times and finally you'll have Android 5.1 rooted.
In my case, this did the trick: aaronhastings.me/updating-to-android-5-1-0-on-rooted-nexus-5
I hope it will help you, too.
Regards.
