Hello forum ,
I would like to share my experience with HTC one water drop for everyone out there that face this problem ,
I dropped my HTC one and it was fully submerged in the toilet (clean water though ) .
I turn it off but dried it with my cloth and then with a towel as fast as humanly possible rushed to the kitchen and put in in rice .
It kept turning on and off and vibrating in the rice and it was heart melding until it ran out of battery.
After like 56 hours (~2.5 days ) I removed it from rice, put it in charger , tried to turn it on , it turned on for 3 sec then started flashing a couple of times and turned off again . (I could notice water inside the camera lens )
So I put it in rice again for 4 days and then removed it put it in the sun with an inclined degree of 60 " \ " with a tissue beneath it , then another 20 min upside down with changing the tissue .
After that i plugged it in charger, orange LED flashed for 15 seconds and it turned on magically and everything was working fine .
So, if you drop your HTC one in water don't put it in rice for 2 days and lose hope if it fails, give it more time and then rinse it in sunlight.
Should I keep using it as is or should I take it to a technician to open it up and clean it thoroughly knowing that htc one is difficult to open ?
Hope this helps and waiting for your input .
Thank You
Wow good job I got my one x in same predicament but had no Sun or heat to help so I bought a new power ribbon for it and worked normal after that

Yea, man. I heard about this procedure too.
If you put your phone in rice over night, the rice will attract Asians that will come and repair it. Or so I hear.

Are you sure its not the sim card itself? If it isn't (assuming you've tried everything), then its the motherboard that needs to be replaced. (might as well replace the phone).
As an unrelated note, where are the water sensors for this phone? In the headphone jack?
EDIT: found it:

Have you tried taking phone phone apart at all? I know its quite the task but if you have any technical skill you should take the phone apart and clean it in an isopropyl alcohol solution 70% or above ( i usually use 99%) the damage may have already been done whereas your phone has already stopped reading your sim cards.
Also FYI not a good idea to use a water damaged phone more radiation leaks from the phone alot of the time due to the components on board being compromised. Hopefully you have accidental insurance.
Hi me too having one htc mobile ,nice experience
HTC One Black
I dont know why you dropped... i read about rice therapy (Yeah writing as therapy to cure water dropped phone)... isnt it better we take it to proffessional and clean it up...
just my 2 cents
Happened with my sgs3. Only I was able to take it apart and submerge in rice for 9 hours. Worked fine after that

You bought a new power ribbon for it? Did you fit that ribbon yourself? As I've heard that if you try to get into the HTC One you'll practically destroy it.
Yes did it myself easy if you watch youtube videos also not the first phone I took apart first was droid incredible. Just becarifule of the tape around the ribbon and nice to have three guitar picks handy.

My wife dropped her phone.....in the toilet.
I tried turning it on today, and it sits at a screen that has a picture of the phone pointing at a laptop. I tried running the Windows Phone Support Tool, and I get this:
Update device 055ec22b - 332fe4fd - a812e651 - 640069c7 Complete with error code: 801812C0, error message: The update failed because your phone started improperly (in the main OS instead of the SLDR, or system loader).
Is there any way to get the phone reloaded with the default OS, or is her phone toast?
The best way to fix it....... Drop it again in the toilet and buy new phone

maybe try a factory reset by using volume up+camera+ power button to boot..if not you can always try flashing one of the stock firmware available in these forums..assuming your hardware isn't toast these things will work

Tried a factory reset, as well as trying to flash the stock firmware on the phone. However, I end up at the same spot with the picture of the phone tethered to the laptop. I have a feeling it's a lost cause at this point. Thanks for the advice.

Quick questions:
1. Was the phone on when it was dropped?
2. Was the battery removed immediately?
3. How was it dried and for how long?
It could be worse - mine just took a magical trip through the washing machine in my pants pocket. :/ Anyone know of a good parts supplier that stocks the mainboard? That's the one component I can't find for sale, but I want to make sure I CAN get it before I take apart my other Samsung Focus to troubleshoot the broken part(s).
from my experince with a samsung jet,
I dropped it also in water too, i tried t oturn it after few days, strange things happned too me!!! so decided to get a new phone.
I didn't through my jet, and after few months, I charged the phone, and test it found it working without problems
I believe was just a matter of when al lthe electronics inside the phone gets really dry
try it out
I heard pulling out the battery, and putting everything buried underneath dry rice helps. Probably for a couple of days, then see what happens.

My Focus is VERY sensitive to any dampness at all. If it gets damp in my pocket (sweating, lawn sprinkler, etc.), it will ding constantly with the sound when you connect the USB cable to it. I have to take a hair dryer to the micro-USB port.
A method I heard, but have never tried, is to wrap the phone in a full sized thick bath towel and bind it closed (duct tape, bungee, whatever) and then put it in the clothes dryer on low heat for an hour.
Thanks for all the info. I will be trying it again tomorrow once I get my USB cable back. I know the cable for my Inspire will work on it as well but I forgot that at work today. Thanks again all.

no its not... Its a myth. The liquid evaporates unless you took it all apart and the rice actually touched the liquid and absorbed it. Taking the battery out and leaving the door off and placing the unit in front of a fan will do 1000 times more for the process than rice... Moving air is the perfect evaporator. Plus rice dust gunks up ports... Sorry to burst the experts bubble around here but facts are facts...

need your attention......
o no bro.a good tip, dont use bulb or something its make corrosive your mainboard.the best is to put it in a jar full of rice.
thanks,,,,,,,buddy i suppose it work!!!!doin it
Bro also place rice jar in sunlight so that water will eveporate and rice would absorb it...
Also remove battery and other accessories.and if possible open the body of phone by removing the screws...
Placing it in a bag of rice wont help much as far as I know just let it dry and after that open the phone and see if there is any corrosion on the board if yes remove that first by a soft brush to remove the corrosion you can also try to dip the main board in alcoholic solution just google it

glad to hear the hardware is safe from harm,
btw make sure to run tests because most of the time water damages does not appear at first
The classic rice trick has always worked best for me.
Guys, once i also experienced the same problem. My phone feel into a bucket full of water . What i did was, immediately removed the battery and wiped it well, then some shaking.. After 15, 20 minutes, i restarted it but it wasn't. I tried to unscrew it but failed due to lack of proper screw driver.. anyway i left it on my bed and went for duty. Evening icame back. Tried to restart, again failed. then i put it on charging. Nothing was shown on the display as charging. But after a 10 minutes when i tried to switch it on, really, it switched on... There was no problem after that.
Same my brother also experienced this problem. He accidently dropped it in a pond.. He took it to a Samsung care, after checking they told him that its motherboard needs to be changed. And it costs half the price of y. So he took it back to
Home. One of his friend told him to put it under sunlight.! He did so, and after some time when he switched it on, it successfully booted. But there is a big round Mark in his display.
Now he has to change the display.

when situations like that happen:
1. REMOVE BATTERY IMMEDIATELY
2. NEVER PUT THE BATTERY BACK ON
3. DONT PANIC
4. Never put the device to dry under the sun
5. To make sure take 1-2 days before turning the device on again
I heard that you take battery out, shake water out of it then just leave it to dry under a medium powered light bulb

So i was playing table tennis earlier today .. when i stopped , i decided to check my messages on my phone , but it wasnt working . The phone itself worked allright , the controls too but the touchscreen wasnt working at all .
I googled and found that moisture can damage the digitizer... as a desperate attempt i filled a bowl with rice and dropped the phone right =(
God have mercy on my phone
By any chance, have you tried rebooting it before doing said steps?
Yes , i tried rebooting it like 10 times and doing a battery pull .
The touchscreen worked in the corners of the screen only , so it must be the moisture i think .
ive got some good news, near the beginging of augest i dropped my phone in a puddle, dried it out and everything but it didnt work, it took ages to turn on and touchscreen didnt work. no shops could fix it, so i left it on my windowsill and bought a blackberry, i tried it every week and it didnt work.
so the other day i decided to try it again just coz i can. (nearly 4months later) it works perfectly, i was so happy coz the xperia play is the only phone i really like.
so my adivce if it doesnt work anytime soon, if you really want this phone, just leave it for a while, you could get lucky like me!
My Play digitizer stopped working completely due to applying wet screen protector.
Then I put one my Nexus today. And it made to power button stop working, I had to open it to dry it. Guess I didn't learn the lesson the first time.

So I accidently dunked my z2 in the bath took it out everything OK used last night when I took it out of the water it said that headphones had been inserted which they hadn't. Anyway today I go to use my noise cancellation headphones and its not recognising anything has been plugged in. So plays through the speaker. Tried headphones elsewhere and they work. Anyone have any ideas ?
Just checked mine it's working. I was washing my phone yesterday to make sure there is no gap issues or problem with waterproofing. Take it back to the shop and tell them headphones are not working.

Use compressed air in the jack. It's most likely just left over moisture or particals

hey
same problem with me, I washed the phone (didn't even let it sink, just flowing water for a few seconds) meanwhile once it said "headphones recognized" (which it clearly should not lol, it should be secured against shorting the pins out..) and this morning it kept working-notworking (like i was plugging in and out simulteniously) and finally totally stopped working
any ideas? should I try some dry blower ?
--edit
nvm I cleaned it with the little ear-cleaning buds/sticks. It did have some moisture to it. After a few tries it started working again. In my opinion, this is still pretty sad and poor performance from a water proof phone..
Take note that it was almost 12 hours ago I washed it.
Ive never had this problem but you should read the manual
Hey i feel like unpopular opinon penguin here , but two things 1, dont use sound while under water. and dont use sound features (includes mike) 2-4 hours after it been in water. it says it right in your manual their. 2. if you didnt do those things its posible the build of your phone isnt up to standard. Also i Could be wrong BUT DONT USE COMPRESSED AIR TO CLEAN YOUR PHONE. look im not certain about these seals or water proofing done but they may break under strong air pressure plus you may be pushing the water (unlikely) but further into your phone may be into a place where its not meant to be/ ever gotten two without added focused compressed air maybe even forcing the breakage of a seal (unlikely again with the ip rating) but i would not be risking this . ive tested my phone for water proofing and have not once had a single problem so maybe the phone is faulty. take it back and get it tested dont clean it yourself. it also talks about the warrenty in the manual which talks if seals are broken or moisturefound in certain parts breaks the warrenty so be very carefull. soz for my bad grammar
Hello everyone,
I got this problem with my LG G2 that it fell in the water once, I directly put off the phone. (It was still intact after falling in water).
Later I turned it on but the screen did not show up. Sound works, Vibration works, TOUCH screen works (no graphical stuff) and even if I call my self with another phone the LG goes off, vibrates, plays the ringtone and everything.
I sent my phone to Dynafix which is the repair center, they said it's not available for warranty, because its water damage and they declared the phone as "Unrecoverable". Which I think is pretty weird. I have thought of repairing it myself by buying and new LCD and Digitalizer.
(w w w . etradesupply . com/lg-g2-d800-lcd-screen-and-digitizer-assembly.html)
I have never done that though but with a good tutorial on YouTube and the right tools I should be able to do it. But before I take any action which may not work I want more info about this problem.
I made a video of my phone but can't post any links here, the name is: "LG G2 screen doesnt go on? [HELP!]"
Thanks:good:
Don't waste your time or money on this. If it was completely immersed in water, it is in fact unrecoverable. The water might not have an effect on the device the first couple of hours, but after a short while it will corrode it's way trough the device, rendering it useless. The repair center won't touch it because they know that no matter what they do, there is a huge risk that the corrosion will come back. You're better off with a new device.

The phone in on the charger and on, Everyday I still hear sounds and such. The phone hasnt been in water more then 1 sec though. And afterwards I left it drying in dry rice for 1 week. I know i am a bit selfish but I think there could be a chance of making it work.
The phone comes with a subscription for 2 years and it's not even a year old ;/

Not exactly the same but a friend was skipping lessons at school when we were like 10 (10ish years ago) and using Gameboy Advance SP in the toilets... you can guess what happened... Any way i took it apart and left it in a closet for a few days, gave it back to him fully working after. So it's not necessarily un-fixable.

Well yeah, I just turned it off got the back cover off but not got the battery out. and let it dry.
Is there any way to acces the phone's screen through my PC? The phone is rooted.
Fixed the phone!
I removed the main board from the phone and brushed the connections with a toothbrush. Re-assembled the phone and it worked!
The only money I spent is for a plastic opening tool and a philips screwdriver.
