[Q] What is "Samsung Denial Log Reporting Service"? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My phone which was just sat by me doing nothing in particular (just a Facebook notification) and I see an icon I'd not seen before. I tapped on it and I am being prompted to accept a privacy policy for the "Samsung Denial Log Reporting Service"...
Err WTF is this and should I be accepting it. I'm particularly concerned as I'm on MH8 which I'm not keen on, FW status I got back to official, although of course the boot loader is still locked and gives the Knox warranty error messages if I try and downgrade.
Any ideas? A Google and forum search hasn't turned up anything which is odd, can't believe I'm the first to see this.

I'd also like to know the answer as it popped up on mine last week

Samsung Ireland, in their facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SamsungIreland) has been asked about the "Samsung Denial Log Reporting Service" and them said "This is genuine. It's for Samsung Knox - a new security system we are releasing for S4 and future products. You can find out more here: http://www.samsung.com/global/business/mobile/solution/security/samsung-knox"
I still need to understand what it is.
I'm not sure if I want to accept or decline...
---------- Post added at 08:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:02 PM ----------
after more google search, I found a document
https://cdn.samsungknox.com/system/files/whitepaper/files/Samsung_KNOX_Glossary.pdf
and in this document, at page 7, there is written
Denial Log:
- Captures SE for Android denials in Enforcement mode on the device and uploads
them to a Samsung Server.
- These denial logs are stored on the device at:
/data/misc/audit/audit.log and audit.old).
Naturally I don't want my S4 to upload anything, anywhere.

Some news on this.
Hi.
I've just had the same message. What I found ...
Samsung Ireland Facebook : "Hi Alan, This is genuine. It's for Samsung Knox - a new security system we are releasing for S4 and future products. You can find out more here: (samsung's website) /global/business/mobile/solution/security/samsung-knox 12 September at 11:18
Me
OK. So they are releasing an enterprise level security app. Fine with that. As I my phone isn't a company phone, but a personal one, what benefit will I gain? And, therefore, do I need to install it? If so why? From samsung's website (I can't post URLs yet, so add the domain dot com manually) /global/microsite/galaxys4/lifetask.html#page=knox ... "While S4 includes the features of Samsung KNOX, the solution is activated by the IT administrators of your company. Please also note the service availability may vary by the market your company operates."
So, for a personal user, this is a pointless app. It gets installed, but never activated as I'm not using a company phone.

The Benefit: you get a secured/locked bootloader for free

I wonder the thing, what if we refuse to send them these logs?

The same thing has happened to me a few times now on my S4. I've just ticked the 'Do not show for 90 days' button then selected cancel.

I am pretty sure I am not able to root my At&t GN3 MJ5 because KNOX is force closing the app which Kingo uploads to root.
Whenever I try ot use Kingo, I cause the "prevention information" error which tells me "an app has been force closed due to an attempt at accessing system on your device".
I have done it so many times that now after a reboot, I see the "denial log" service asking for permission to upload the denial logs.
based on info in this thread, its clear that samsung wants to know what app it is force closing (what app is trying to get root access) so that they can design future security updates to prevent us from rooting.
Really ****ty if you ask me. DO NOT allow the denial logs! **** you samsung .. I thought you were a good company but now you are just making things difficult for us. You sold me a car with a hood welded shut. (Samsung chat admits there is no way to disable KNOX security on GN3).
I wont be a samsung customer for long..
---------- Post added at 05:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:15 PM ----------
Update to my last post,
I spoke with Samsung again. This time I said I'm a dev and I understand root would void my warranty but I need to do it. First they tried to help me Force close the KNOX related apps, which I did (Klingo still didnt work and the same "prevention information" notice appears each time I try), then they gave me the number to KNOX so I can ask them.
I encourage everyone to call and voice your opinion that you don't like KNOX force closing apps that it deems are a security risk, without letting us disable that "Safety" feature. Its really not for safety after all, its to make modifying our own phones more difficult.

Hi there,
The only thing that I can imagine this would be is an application or email client that is restricting your device's capabilities. Travel to setting/security & screen lock/device administrators, and see if any applications are enabled as device admins. If so, remove the app/apps until you determine which one was stopping your camera function. Hope this helps you out

It didn't say and I am unsure how to check.
It's an update to the Samsung account that you have when you first set up your device. If you have tried to access any Samsung Apps it'll update in order to use them.

I wasn't sure what it was updating. I wasn't doing anything, I woke up and there was an notification, but I just wasn't sure if the update might effect anything. Glad it doesn't.

It won't affect anything on your device etc so don't worry, they do update quite regularly. It's all good nothing to really worry about. Altho I do see your concern if something is updating without you knowing what it is or giving permission.

[Q] Computrace Agent

Hi all, today I noticed Computrace Agent installed on my Galaxy s5 I have looked around online and some threads on here but no one has found a way to remove it.
There has to be a way right?
I also have a G3 on EE any chance that will be effected?

as far as i can tell computrace is insurance against it getting stolen from EE. thats how they lock it up and blacklist IMEIs
so anyone actually wantinbg to remove it isnt doing a good thing. also removing it is aiding theft of the device so im pretty sure mods will lock this up
I've just found this running on my s5
I use an EE sim but the phone was bought sim-free and unlocked so why is it on my phone?
I installed the polish lollipop ROM so I wondered if it came from that but it sounds like it's been around a while
If I uninstall it I get a Google popup message saying
"Allow Google to regularly check device activity for security problems and prevent our earn about potential harm"
If I chose decline, the app still reappears after a few seconds
---------- Post added at 02:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:16 AM ----------
In wondering now if the Samsung 'findmyphone' service (in security settings) uses conputrace.
If I go to find my phone and try and locate my phone, it seems to struggle/take longer if i uninstall computrace. When it auto reinstalls the find my phone can tell where it is.

Find My Mobile Not Found On My S7 Edge

It appears there's no Samsung Find My Mobile settings on my S7 edge. There's no way to control/change Remote Controls, SIM Change Alert, and Reactivation Lock. I know there's alternatives out there but I actually like using this service.
On my S6 edge, they were under Settings > Lock Screen and Security > Find My Mobile.
Anybody find these settings?
Quick check of AT&T manual versus Verizon manual shows Verizon's manual makes no mention of the settings to enable this feature. AT&T'S manual does show the setting being present in the settings app security settings.
Samsung's "Find my mobile" web portal has a help feature describing how to tell if your device can be used with Find my mobile.
The Verizon variant truly does seem to lack support for it, since the options for enabling it are not found where Samsung's help feature says they will be on feature-capable devices.
You can go third party like Cerebrus or use Google's Android Device Manager to replicate some, but not all, of this feature's capabilities.
I'm sure no one will be surprised to learn that Verizon sells a premium version of their pre-installed basic VZ Protect feature that includes device location for a monthly fee.
I simply cannot believe the degree to which Samsung has agreed to cripple this flagship device's features to meet this carrier's demands. Were I the Samsung executive that handled these arrangements, I would have told Verizon they would receive no accommodations for device configuration that differed from any other American carrier and let them decide if they wanted to be the only major carrier unable to offer the device to their customers.

I confirmed though Samsung chat that VZW disabled the feature. Chat rep suggested I contact my carrier to have the feature enabled.

It's disabled on mine too. I'm on Sprint.

I went to Android Device Manager and my s7 Edge was there without me having to have done anything - I could locate it and remote ring/wipe it.
This is one thing I wish was on the phone - iPhones you cant reactivate without an iCloud password even if you wipe it. This needs to exist through Google or Samsung.

Once you set up your Google account you can't use the phone without the account info after wiping. Well unless you use one of the hacks, but they get squashed as Google releases new versions.

[q] zte zmax pro frp bypass?

So I bought a ZTE ZMAX PRO from ebay but the guy didn't mention he still had his google account linked. So when I boot up the phone I get welcomed by the FRP screen. I text the guy and tell him all the problems but he doesn't reply unfortunately. I've tried almost every possible way to bypass the FRP screen but nothing works. I wanted to know what other ways are available so I am able to actually use this phone.

Sorry it took so long to reply, and I'm sure you've already found an answer to this problem, but there is no method currently to bypass FRP. If the seller will not work with you on the issue, I would contact e-Bay and explain the situation. Worst case scenario, you should get a refund from eBay. Hopefully your issue is resolved by this time, or if not, that this helps to resolve it.
How much did you pay for it? I bought mine in metropcs store near me brand new for $122 after tax and everything. This is my fave phone by far. The VR experience in this phone is the awesomest. I would follow the advice of the other poster. I had been a victim of a lying seller too it was on amazon though. I can sell you my samsung on5 if you like? It is in working condition. VERY slightly used. With very slightly used case.
As many have probably already found out there is currently no known proceedure to bypass the FRP on the Zmax Pro If there is then it has not been posted anywhere on the web as of yet...I know this because I have one that is google FRP locked and have read every article and watched every video available and have tried every method out there for every zte phone and nothing works so for the guy or gal out there who does have a method for bypassing the Google FRP I would very much appreciate if you would share it with me I can be reached at [email protected] Please send me any info or links regaurding this issue that will allow me to open this phone ASAP Thanking whoever in advance...
If your phone is 'legit', then the legit way to bypass FRP is either call google, call ZTE and/or call where you bought your phone right? All you need is RECEIPT and they will help you solve your FRP.
I do know the 'pride' you feel though after bypassing FRP yourself. I felt that when I bypass FRP myself on my samsung galaxy ON5. Eventhough I already contacted Samsung and Google and they already gave me an RMA number.
Not worth the headache though. After I bypass FRP on my Samsung, I ditched it and bought Zmaxpro.
It made me not mess with brand new phones though. Guys it really is NOT worth the headache.
At the very least, if you want to mess with these new phones. Research FIRST, if there is an FRP bypass method for it, if not then, why give yourself a headache and an expensive paper weight really?

because you can find em cheaper used.. i bought one frp locked for 40$ but cant bypass it lol its a clean phone and i bought on offerup knowing it was locked..
i also searched before hand and theres 2 methods, one using swyft keyboard the other using dictionary in google keyboard..
however, latest update makes those methods useless..
why post if youre not going to help? telling someone they shouldnt have bought it after the fact is irrelevant..
does anyone know what FTM mode is used for? or if theres any stock firmware images that can be flashed somehow to rollback the security updates?

LOL. I am not telling YOU, but anyone who care to read it. But why would I even bother telling you ANYthing when you did exactly the same in galaxy ON5? Right? you are hopeless case, buying FRP locked phones coz it's cheap then posting on all forums for solution. well then enjoy the headache.
I actually had a deja vu when I read your thread on the other forum. Just sayin..
Guess I am going to the other forum coz zmaxpro has a LOT of love on there. Even have a root thread going on.
I kind of hope they won't be able to root though, For my selfish reason that I really will keep my zmaxpro as long as I can and want it to be remain stock as long as it can for security reasons.
I want to tell on the other forum why they feel the need to root new phones when it already has all the features root gives you. I really am puzzled.

FRP bypass. Works.
There's a video on this page that shows you how to do it. The guy doesn't say anything in the video so you just have to pay close attention to everything he does and repeat it exactly. Tried it works but a lengthy process..its very simple by skipping few steps.......this is what i did and unlocked like a charm...
1) Press two finger on the screen prompting the language option and start...it should open the accesiblity option..click on exit.
2) then try gestures in the screen with an inverted "U" .....it should open the recent app list...(it needs few attempts)
3) on the top of the screen type stock..it will show stock android ...launch it....
4) go to settings ...go down which needs two fingers to swipe down as the accessibility option are still open it...disable the talk back on the accessibility options.
5) go to settings ..apps..on the corner right up..click on system apps..then drag down ..go to lookup apps which needs to force stop and disable..
6) go to settings again go to security ..enable the unknown source option.
7) go to home screen back by recent app button or home screen (Home screen button some time might not work)and open chrome browser...search for test dpc apk...download and install the latest test dpc apk...
8) once installed open the apk ..select as individual owner .1st option then next..then click on add account this will redirect it to adding account which will prompt the google old ID again..
9) click on recent app option and go to settings again ..go backup & Reset ..erase everything...which should reset the phone..by restarting and the ID is gone...(make sure your battery is above 30% inorder to reset.
10) Once reset the phone is set as new device without an ID.
!!!!!!Bingo its done..!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!Bingo its done..!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats almost exactly what i did lol.. however in my experience if i did it without turning ADM off the test dpc did not work as intended, it would just reboot the device saying i wasnt admin and Id have to start the process over again

Agreed its your method and i have just worked on your method..without ADM and disabling the Accessibility by going to taptalk option. for me it didnt ask anything as i first disabled the lookup which should stop the Admin request.
All credit goes to you..
