It appears there's no Samsung Find My Mobile settings on my S7 edge. There's no way to control/change Remote Controls, SIM Change Alert, and Reactivation Lock. I know there's alternatives out there but I actually like using this service.
On my S6 edge, they were under Settings > Lock Screen and Security > Find My Mobile.
Anybody find these settings?
Quick check of AT&T manual versus Verizon manual shows Verizon's manual makes no mention of the settings to enable this feature. AT&T'S manual does show the setting being present in the settings app security settings.
Samsung's "Find my mobile" web portal has a help feature describing how to tell if your device can be used with Find my mobile.
The Verizon variant truly does seem to lack support for it, since the options for enabling it are not found where Samsung's help feature says they will be on feature-capable devices.
You can go third party like Cerebrus or use Google's Android Device Manager to replicate some, but not all, of this feature's capabilities.
I'm sure no one will be surprised to learn that Verizon sells a premium version of their pre-installed basic VZ Protect feature that includes device location for a monthly fee.
I simply cannot believe the degree to which Samsung has agreed to cripple this flagship device's features to meet this carrier's demands. Were I the Samsung executive that handled these arrangements, I would have told Verizon they would receive no accommodations for device configuration that differed from any other American carrier and let them decide if they wanted to be the only major carrier unable to offer the device to their customers.

I confirmed though Samsung chat that VZW disabled the feature. Chat rep suggested I contact my carrier to have the feature enabled.

It's disabled on mine too. I'm on Sprint.

I went to Android Device Manager and my s7 Edge was there without me having to have done anything - I could locate it and remote ring/wipe it.
This is one thing I wish was on the phone - iPhones you cant reactivate without an iCloud password even if you wipe it. This needs to exist through Google or Samsung.

Once you set up your Google account you can't use the phone without the account info after wiping. Well unless you use one of the hacks, but they get squashed as Google releases new versions.

So I guess it is just kinda there... only way to test it is to try to factory reset your phone without booting it.
Dang All I want to do is change my Sammy password and instructions TELL me to deactivate reactivation lock. Good thing these forums are here. Thought I was going nuts. Again. TY (S7):victory:

Okay I registered my note with Samsung and tried out the Samsung dive app, I tried the ring phone, track phone and so on, but after trying out the unlock screen feature, now everyone I check for software updates on my note, I get no updates available very quickly followed by a statusbar notification telling me my screen lock has been reset to default by Samsung dive. I have tried logging out of my Samsung account, I have even deleted the Samsung account app from my phone, I have unticked the remote feature in settings, but it still does the same thing when I check for updates, as I have the unlocked international version so therefore waiting for ics to be made available for my note.
Anyone else tried Samsung dive and having the same issues, or am I missing something to turn this off.
It is now becoming very annoying constantly doing this, but it does only seem to do this when checking for updates.
I don't want to do a factory reset as I don't know if that will even cure this, and then still have this notification but having to start over again setting up my phone when I have it just how I want it.
Any advice is most welcome.
Same issue here, I agree, It is annoying! Any help would be appreciated.
I installed AVG Antivirus Pro, which Samsung was giving away for free for a limited time in my country.
Works great.
Back on subject. Have you tried resetting the app via Applications in Settings? Might fix your issue. If not a factory rest will probably do it!
I'm having the exact same issue here. Does anyone have a solution to this?
I hopefully seemed to have solved the issue. I had the exact same issue. I logged onto the samsung dive website and chose the option to 'Lock My Mobile' and entered a pin. Now on the phone I unlocked my phone with the PIN previously set on the samsung dive website. After this the problem seems to have disappeared.
Hope this works for you all

I can't believe it. I even called Samsung Customer Services regarding the issue and their response was that my mobile isn't compatible with my country (Canada). I did what you advised and I'm tracking my phone now on Samsung Dive!! Who thought it could be such a simple solution. THANK YOU!

Samsung Dive is a website. In the event you lose your phone you are able to track it. Just login to you samsung account on your phone under setting>accounts and after that you can go online to track your phone.

Hi,
Thank you very much for posting your finding. It also fixed it for me. :good:
Has anyone else been able to get Samsung Dive working? I look at the instructions:
Step 1: Activate Remote Controls
To use the SamsungDive service, the remote controls of the mobile must be enabled. Select "Settings > Personal > Security" from the main menu.
Select "Find my mobile > Remote Controls".
If you register Samsung and Google accounts, "Remote Controls" are automatically enabled.
Register your Samsung account.
Register your Google account.
To use some SamsungDive service functions, you have to agree to allow Google to collect your user location information. Please agree to the "Use wireless networks" terms and conditions.

And I don't have the "Find my mobile > Remote Controls" menu section at all. I did register a Samsung Account and a Google Account. Did AT&T remove this or something?
I would also like an answer to this question. There is no "lost device" settings anywhere that I can find.
Edit: Another T-Mobile user is reporting that these settings are missing. Looks like the US version might be lacking this feature.

Most likely? Yes, they did it from the i777 also. AT&T wants you to use FamilyMap for tracking, but doesn't market such. I personally use Cerberus. Best tracking software I've ever had.
Yes AT&T removes the remote controls for obvious reasons. I believe most of their phones have this feature removed. Cerberus all the way. Phonelocator pro is good also.
I hope a custom ROM might bring this feature to us....

It did with the i777, but as I stated Cerberus is the way to go. With the fact that it can be saved in the system folder so even if you lose your phone you can always find it (it will survive a factory reset) that's the best option IMO

Yea, you either have to install the CWM flashable version or follow their instructions to manually install it to the system folder through either Root Explorer or ADB/Terminal. If you don't install it to System it won't survive a factory reset (through the privacy menu or CWM -> Erase Data/Cache) if System is totally rewritten (like through a CWM update) you do have to reflash the software (it seems to persist but you have to actually open it to get it to show, it's easier to just reflash the CWM package)
Its missing from the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 as well.
It is missing from Verizon as well. Called Samsung and they said that it is not available in the US.
Ouch that sucks, I wonder if devs can grab this from the Canadian roms

It's possible IMS Settings could have that purpose, I've seen mention of it in regard to some T-Mobile devices however IMSLogger+ has no known function whatsoever, it's simply an app called logger that has access to everything you do and everything your id does in relation to your device. As far as I can tell there is absolutely no cost in disabling this application so until someone can identify a function that requires this to be enabled, it's simply common sense to do so.
Further, and I have no idea if it's relevant or not, but even it's naming convention is different from the other associated applications:
com.sec.ims 1.0
IMS Service 1.0
IMS Settings 1.0
com.sec.imslogger 1.20150211_LDM
I understand I'm offering an incomplete picture here, but our corporate 'benefactors' have a long history of being as shady as they possibly can be until they are caught and then they just try something else... Our data is a commodity resource to these people so they'll do what they can to acquire it.
In the end it's a question of trust. I don't, so I uninstalled it, but I wanted to pass on the information should anyone else want to do the same.
Another NSA feature for the American fellows.

If your country or carrier doesn't have VoLTE then you won't have it enabled on your phone, that's why you can't find it.
EDIT:
You can check here if your carrier has it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VoLTE#Deployment
So far it's only launched in Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, and USA. But even in those countries, only a few carriers have it.
Good old NSA must have had something worked out with Samsung. I bought mine in Hung Coc* as well and it too came with this IMSlogger as well that has and asks for every permission you never even thought about. No uninstall option either.
Every permission possible has been ticked by developer.

Silent Logging is not turned on by default that's why it's safe to disable.
From the looks of it, it logs diagnostic info from the cell modem. I think it's only ever used for diagnostic purposes though and is not ever turned on normally. You can enable in Service Mode or if you set system property dev.silentlog.on set to "on".
If you don't have any of the log files at:
Code:
/data/log/Slog_ril_xxxxx.log
/data/log/Slog_main_xxxxx.log (where xxxxx is the time the log got saved)
Or the config file at:
Code:
/data/slog/SilentLog
...then you don't have Silent Logging running.
As for IMSLogger, it doesn't look nefarious. It is for VoLTE though, so has anyone tried if VoLTE still work when you have IMSLogger disabled/deleted. Mind you, VoIP or Skype or any other IP/SIP over wifi or LTE is NOT VoLTE (VoLTE is specifically optimised for voice using IMS whereas none of the others are). So to test, make sure you are actually using VoLTE (and that you have it enabled in your carrier plan) and not some other VoIP solution.
It's LMS Logger
And it stands for LetMeSpy I found it on my phone as well
IMSLogger+ is used by Samsung engineers to get the processor logs and interfaces logs from the phone for debugging purposes. In Engineering firmwares it can export the IP traces in PCAP format and it has a nice interface to see all the VoLTE/SIP messages in real time. Basically it can log all the calls signalization, excluding the voice packets.
It's launched from the IMS Settings application that is used to customize VoLTE/VoWIFI/RCS parameters for each operator.
By default the IMSLogger+ doesn't log anything, Below you have a movie done from my rooted Samsung S6 Edge G925F that shows how to launch the application. I'm sure IMSLogger+ can be disabled without any impact to VoLTE. Maybe Samsung should have done it from the very beginning.

In case you are not checking the regular S7 section. Figured I'd put this here.... In Nova Launcher... Create a new activities widget... Scroll down to the third phone choice (it has the most choices, like 95 things)... Then select "identify unsaved numbers"... That will create a shortcut.. Open it and flip the switch.

I was just asking about this and couldn't find it anywhere. Will the setting stay enabled if i delete nova launcher afterwards?
It should. I still don't know if it actually does anything. VZW could have removed all of the framework for it.
From the other thread, the setting doesn't do anything actually for Verizon customers. Looks like they removed all the tie-ins to the actual phone portion of the Android image......lame.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/wasnt-galaxy-s7-s7-edge-supposed-to-t3331827
And this is why we can't have nice things....every feature has to be a paid service to Verizon....ie notice the 7 days left of my free caller ID trial and prompting for me to subscribe. Pretty lame Verizon when the OEM includes a feature by default and you make them remove it.
We need a class action suit to stop this. Verizon should not be able to do this to a phone.

It's frustrating that they do this, but we live in a free market economy and this is how it works. There are other carriers, it's up to you whether you want to deal with VZ's tampering to get their amazing coverage...or take t-mobile's phones but deal with their crappy coverage.
The only case you'd have in a law suit is arguing that VZ didn't disclose that they limited the features.
Unfortunately I know you are right. IA have stayed with vzw for 20 yrs because of the network. I just don't like that I pay 800 bucks for a device that has features removed only because vzw wants you to use and pay for theirs. The phone should come as is with all features Samsung provides. And I should have the right to use either . I can disable their bloat ware but I can't turn on what is not there.

Been playing with this on my s6 edge with ported s7 firmware...need to make sure have smartcallprovider.apk in system app folder and also need to make sure CSC is enabled for it - configsvcproviderforunknownnumber = whitepages,whitepages,on
I was missing the smartcallprovdier apk and it didnt show in advanced settings added with rw-r-r permissions and when i did above it appeared and enabled..I havent tested the app as yet but its on and the agreement etc appeared and also the agrrement to search local businesses in contacts app..
Note im Australia and not sure if supports Australia officially or not but the option is on and agreement agreed to
I have a feeling this works just like using Nova/Activity Launcher to find Download Booster and enable it on the S5 for Verizon... Except that didn't really work either.
I use two gig based apps to make some extra $$$: EasyShift and GigWalk. Since the lastest VZW update this past weekend, I get a force close when trying to launch the EasyShift app. The error message is "The 'Allow mock locations' develops setting must be disabled for this application to work" I have spoken with Verizon tech support Tier 2, Google Tech Support and Samsung Premiere Tech support - all with no helpful fixes. I have never rooted my phone before and would prefer to leave it stock. The developer settings don't have the simple on/off feature as I have noticed researching on the internet. If anyone can help I really would appreciate it. I am running a Verizon S7. These apps are a great way to pick up some extra money and I sure could use it.
Thanks!
Have you tried selecting "no apps" for mock location setting, and if that has no effect have you tried turning off all developer options using the slider at the very top of the menu? I suppose if that works you can always turn it back on as needed.
Thanks Storm. I have tried choosing No Apps and it had no effect. Also I turned off the developer setting all together and again no effect. It still force closes with the error message. Any other suggestions?

I also have a galaxy s7 for t-mobile and it started doing the same thing about 2 weeks ago. Again, they were working before but now and I tried the same thingsize with reset and all.
Any update? I'm having this issue as well.
I have this issue on the Carl's Jr. app. It just happened all of the sudden. The only changes I am aware of are two Security Certificate updates recently.
by my job im required to clock in on an app on my phone after doing the update (I have an s5 now running on the latest android version) it wont allow me because of this mock location. As everyone else I went to developer options and of course now it doesn't have the easy option to turn on or off so still wont allow me to clock in. Does anyone have any updates?
I am on the T-Mobile variant, but this is the only link that I found regarding this issue, I also am dealing with not being able to disable the mock locations. has anyone else been able to figure out what is up with this? thanks in advance for any help.

Update?
I just installed the Carl's Jr app on my 935P running the U-API3 firmware and get the "disable mock locations" message. I have selected no mock location app.
Has anyone found a fix for this yet?
I've always been curious what this mock locations setting was for or what it does... I assume it spoofs your location???
Fixes?
So is there a fix for this issue? I can't do anything with my Gigwalk app!
Same exact issue here. Have you tried to talk to gigawalk yet?
I am having this issue as well on my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 (7.0). Curiously, I have both GigWalk and EasyShift app on my phone currently. I have never had an issue with EasyShift. It works flawlessly. However, I get the warning and force close with GigWalk.
I actually had 5 jobs to do last night, and couldn't complete any of them. I had an old phone with me (S5, 5.0) and tried to do them on that one using wifi only, but the app wouldn't use that internet connection for some reason. The two jobs I was able to complete, I just uploaded via my work wifi this morning - no problems.
I'm still having this problem on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Verizon. I tried disabling mock locations via adb shell. It didn't work still. Anyone?

It's actually some apps check the settings this way:
Code:
// In marshmallow this will always return true
isMockLocation = !android.provider.Settings.Secure.getString(context.getContentResolver(), Settings.Secure.ALLOW_MOCK_LOCATION).equals("0")
It should have been this way:
Code:
if(Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.M) {
AppOpsManager opsManager = (AppOpsManager) context.getSystemService(Context.APP_OPS_SERVICE);
isMockLocation = (opsManager.checkOp(AppOpsManager.OPSTR_MOCK_LOCATION, android.os.Process.myUid(), BuildConfig.APPLICATION_ID)== AppOpsManager.MODE_ALLOWED);
} else {
// In marshmallow this will always return true
isMockLocation = !android.provider.Settings.Secure.getString(context.getContentResolver(), Settings.Secure.ALLOW_MOCK_LOCATION).equals("0");
}
