don't remember anything happening to it, dropping it, stepping on it, pressing really hard. just showed up when I opened it up last night.
when you put pressure around the bright area the spot goes away.
anybody know what it could be, my best guess was screen separation.
anybody know if this might be covered under warranty?

Hi guys
I had a weird problem with the screen of my P3600...
I was using it as a gps with tomtom in a friends car, and that moment i had it screen down and was just supporting it with my hand on my leg. I was holding it gently and had no pressure on it!
I had turned of the screen and since we were on a highway i was just waiting for the exit witch was still a bit far. Around 5-10 minutes latter i turn around the phone and to my surprise the screen had 2 horizontal cracks all the way from one side to the other... The screen is still 100% visible and there were no liquid crystals spill, but 80% of the screen has no touch sensibility.
Resons why this happened? I would assume heat, since it was connected to the car lighter, and was on my leg, and also it was arround 35ÂșC... But then again, it wasn't unbearably hot, only warm... If it was because of this, i believe it has to be a factory fault. The screen has to be able to sustain more heat than this.
I've send it to RMA, but I'm afraid they just deny it saying it was because of a drop. There are no marks on the phone as it never dropped on the ground!
Anyway... Can you guys point me out to some site that sells spare screens for my P3600? I want to check out the prices so i have a better idea if they decide to charge for the repair, if they are charging too much, and if it's worth doing it myself.
Thanks in advance for any help!
(Sorry about my English )
im really desapointed about it, generally screens cost pretty much, i dont suggest buying new, asumming you have never drop the pda, you have to put press on them to change the screen with the warranty, go to other service poits and ask, they have to change the screen tell them to check everything inseide the phone first ( they can see if enything else is moved ( that means there was a drop) if not, they cant refuse to change the screen)
fixing it by your self seems to be hard.. ... i dont know... try harder making them change it free of charge...
similar problem
Last week when playing a game suddenly the screen went black and a couple of large cracks appeared on the screen. sound and phone were working but no picture.
I got the pda from my company and got it replaced right away, was told it was a known problem(in my company with a couple of hundred P3600 users)
Sorry for OT but I have to say it must be a cool company...
Ok so I don't know if watermark would be the right word. But that is the best way to describe it. I had my phone in the case in my purse. Woke up and went to use it and it had a perfect rectangle in the middle of the phone that looks like maybe the screen has been pressed to hard and never let go of. I will show a picture to let you see what I'm talking about. I've never dropped my phone. And I know nothing happened to it because I was sleeping and it was never touched. I've tried to contact htc, no response. And I purchased my phone off of craigslist so not sure on the warranty and that sort. But I am very sad and hope that maybe you guys can help me. I've searched high and low but every search comes up with nothing, or not exactly the same problem I'm having. I've soft reset and hard reset but to be completely honest with you I think that It has nothing to do with the software but the actual hardware.
Thank you in advance!
it is called newton-rings you can read more about that on wikipedia
you can find discusion in here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531329
hope that HTC will help you with this
oh thank you so much that's all I needed was a name for it!
I have noticed a mark like yours on my screen for the past few days, just thought it was about a damp under the screen protector, so today whilst installing wm6.5 I decided to remove the screen protector, only to find that the phone no longer responded to touch screen! looks like ill be in contact with HTC tomorrow about getting it sent back for repair.
I don't know if I am completly correct when writing this, so please correct if I am totally wrong.
This is not actually, per definition, newton rings. As described on wikipedia, newton rings is reflection of light between two surfaces where one is flat and the other is spherical. The width of the light and dark rings are supposed to become smaller the further out from the center of the spherical surface you go.
I have not opened my device yet, but I have a feeling that it is som kind of fluid that is doing this. I actually have a drop of some kind of fluid (probably water) coming in from the right side of the screen, just above center.
I will post back as soon as I have opened it.
EDIT: Ok, it seems I could be very wrong as I found this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=560051
BUT, i still have drop of water (I think) coming in from the right side of the screen.
Hey,
So I noticed a problem with my phone that there's a section right accross the top of the screen that is not reponsive to touch, it's probly about a 1/4 inch or so and don't care what I do seems to solve it. I kinda noticed it from day one before I rooted and put on CyanMod ROM on it but since I never put any games as such on there before cause it would slow it down some I hardly ever had to touch that section of the screen for it to bother or stand out to me. Now I'm rooted and all and put some games on and notice it big time.
So I was wondering if there is something some of the development people here can do to fix it via software or something instead of me having to send it for repair? I called HTC about it and they said I can send it in but it would be for repair (charged) rather than warranty because I've unlocked the bootloader.
What do you more experienced people think? Maybe for some strange reason the touch screen area on my phone was enterred wrong or something so it covers a smaller area and so could just be written to cover the proper area size? Just thinking but I have no clue how that stuff works. I have no other issue with the screen like what I read others complaining about, everything else lines up fine and works fine just this... Any help appreciated!
Is the screen firmly fixed at the top? Does it click at all when you press it?
SC
Seems so, I checked all that but am nervous to try pushing any harder on it to be honest, no clicks
Edit: Even tried pressing that side of the screen outside the touch area and as close to the as possible, still no response and no clicks
The only reason I ask is that someone had an issue like that and used a hair dryer to warm it up and secure it...
Just a thought.. granted a wrong one :/
SC
Was their's unresponsive in the upper part as well or just clicking? I have hot air soldering tools for doing BGA repairs on xbox360's, PS3's and even an iPhone just Friday I repaired. If something like that would work sure have better tools for it than a hair dryer but wouldn't want to do damage anymore than what is already done to make repair costs higher.
I know this is the X1 thread, but the X2 one isn't running yet, so i kinda didn't have a choice. I've had my X2 for a bit more than a month now, working normally, but a few minutes ago I turned it on and there's these wierd vertical lines over the screen, as if there's columns where the pixels aren't turning on fully. The effect is worse at the top and bottom of the screen, kinda getting better in an oval in the middle. Dows anyone ahve any ideas on what has happened, and/or how I can fix it?
if a reset doesnt sort it out then its broken. since its only a month old then it should be well within its warranty.
Reset definitely didn't sort it out, I tried that many times. It eventually came good though about 16 hours later, sort of faded out. I was thinking it might have been a temperature thing, but the desk it was sitting on at work isn't in the sun or directly under the air conditioner or anything. Either way, if someone else has the same problem, know that all is not lost!
could of been temperature or moisture. lets hope it never comes back!! you sure noone sneaked in and accidently sat on it or anything?? lol
Hello everyone,
Got a problem with my Galaxy note 3 amoled screen. Couple months ago some lines appeared on that, look like artefacts or dead pixels or something, not really sure. Didn't drop/drop in water the device before that. No idea why that happen. But, they don't go.
Tried some dead pixels apps from market with no success.
Due to certain reasons cannot give the device to repair service, so, need to try to fix that by myself.
OS version is 4.3, if that matters.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Will attach the screenshot. The line in the middle. Have few of them already. Background is green, to make it more visible.
Thanks!

Looks more like heat damage to the screen adhesive than a software/electronic defect, to me. I'm just guessing here, but could it have been left in a spot where a beam of focused light could burn the screen? Mine has a few little defects on the screen from where a water bottle on a window ledge focused the sunlight onto a point on the screen.
factory reset.
Flash stock rom and see .
Thanks for replies guys,
One more thing I probably should mention,
The line on the attached pic is maximized, the real lines are quite small, like 3-5mm length. Really small. But anyway visible...
Jaitsu,
Hmm tried to recall but don't think something like that happened. Sometimes I use my phone as GPS when riding bike, means it's outside under the sun (but not a focused light or something), max. 1 hour per time. Could that be reason?
Also, did you find any way to fix that, by yourself?
I read about several ways to fix screen issues, including leaving phone without battery for some time, or even placing it into the freezer. Tried battery method yesterday with no result, but kind of worry about the freezer...

Yes factory reset is a common advice but you really think it might help? Looks like a hardware issue to me. Can a software glitch damage the display? Also, lines are everywhere on the screen, not like one certain place.
Will give it a try if nothing else found, just, sounds uncommon...
Agree probably hardware but a factory reset rules out firmware .
Thats the first step for a service tech sheet .
