Hello everyone. I just upgraded from my s3 and got an s4 model (sgh-i337m) ive been trying to root it but im not sure what method is used for my carrier since im from Puerto Rico and its from "claro" on the latest OTA update..Ive read its the same as the Canadian version but i want to be sure and not have a new brick lol hope anyone can help me with this. Thanks
P.D its on 4.2.2
Baseband: I337MUMUAMG3
Kernel: 3.4.0-1163001
Build number: JDQ39
Selinux status: permissive
Sent from my SGH-I337M using xda premium
I am on the same boat... I do have this device since a month. Had it rooted with motochopper with out-of-the-box firmware PDA: I337MUMUAMDJ Changelist: 518267 Android: 4.2.2 then unrooted to do the OTA update to the latest released firmware PDA: I337MUMUAMG3 Changelist: 1163001 Android: 4.2.2
Now I tried the motochopper again and it says "failed" and/or that su binary is outdated ??? Do not know what it means, only that don't have su permission. Under about device it does reads "SELinux status: Persmissive" with Baseband version: I337MUMUAMG3
Does the Baseband is locked or what? I do not know a lot... please help! Thanks in advance.

Sorry but you posted this in the wrong thread, this is for Android Development. Try Questions & Answers or in the actual motochopper thread.

im going to help you out. The Baseband Version: I337UCUAMF3 is not rootable. So you wont be able to root unless you can go exchange it for another new one. if not, you're screwed till they find a root for MF3.
Also you shouldnt post in the Development section. Leave all your questions in the Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting section. which can be found here.
sorry about that guys. Thanks for the help though i appreciate it!

Try using Kies PC software to update. It will let you know if your phone has been modified and refuse to update

It came from germany so feel free to download the file from here ,But the best thing you can do is flash a pre-rooted 4.2.2 rom man then flash any 4.3 custom rom you like just to avoid that Knox Warranty Void , so incase you got a problem later you can just go back to 4.2.2 but this is up to you.

If you are on 4.3 baseband and don't mind the possibility of voiding warranty then
here is the direct download link for cf-autorooter by chainfire for your phone:
http://download.chainfire.eu/316/CF-...xx-gti9505.zip
Unzip into empty folder and use Odin which is in the zip to flash the TAR.MD5 file.
Good luck!

Hmm.. Gonna think about that autorooter..
I more confident in manually rooting like what I did at my old phone.. maybe I'll just try the site.
Yeah, I have always used the cf-autoroot with odin, fast simple and clean
It will trip the knox vw thingy, but I didnt mind.
Hi
I just have a quick question regarding installing a 4.4.2 update with a different baseband to what is currently on my sm-n9005 as i am a impatient creature. Will it be possible and will i run into any issues doing this (e.g. modem differences etc) i also plan to install Sweet Rom once i can update the boot loader from 4.4.2
Current device
Baseband- N9005XXUDMJ7 (Saudi region i believe)
Build number- JSS15J.N9005XXUDMJ7
Update details
N9005XXUENB3_N9005OXXENB1_XEO (POLAND)
I have tried to find a answer via the almighty google but couldn't find a similar situation, any help greatly appreciated!!!!!

Shouldn't be any issues flashing KK via Odin. -- So long as your note is not a Hong Kong variant. (which yours appears to not be)

Thank you for clarifying
So I have checked far and wide across the net as to what I am suppose to do. First of all here is my device info:
Bootloader version: I337UCUEMK2
Baseband version: I337UCUEMK2
PDA version: I9500XXUEMJ9
CSC version: I9500XXUEMJ9
Product code: Not Active
Phone Model: GT-I9500
Build number: ORG.I9500XXUEMJ9
Modem Board: MDM8215M
Android Version: 4.3
I would like to update to KitKat 4.4.2 as I checked sammobile and there is a 4.4.2 firmware for my country despite not purchasing the device in my country (Jamaica). The dilemma I face though is that I'm not sure if it is a GT-I9500 firmware should be installed or a SGH-I337 firmware as you can see the bootloader is that of a I337 and the PDA version is I9500. Also would it affect me if I flash a different firmware from the one I have. I've tried updating through Kies but there is no update and I also tried OTA which proved unsuccessful as well as there were no updates. What should I do?
What is written in download mode? That's your phone model.

It seems like you can install i9500 roms and firmwares, because in your bootloader it shows that your phone is this

So I booted into download mode or odin mode and it says this:
Product name: SGH-I337
Current Binary: Samsung official
System status: Official
Knox Kernel: 0x0
Knox Warranty Void: 0x0
CSB-Config-LSB: 0x30
Write protection: Enable
eMMC Burst Mode enabled
How can the phone be an I9500 and then in odin mode say it is a SGH-I337. Also of note when I tried updating via OTA it was the AT&T update checker came up and said there was no update. Was it that the phone was flashed with an AT&T rom?
Any updates for this? I suffer from the same problem. Thanks!

It's not really a problem. My guess is that you are running a custom rom where someone just edited the device info to a i9500. Or you are running stock but someone just changed the model name. No big deal. I can also name my phone anything that I want.
I bought my phone on ebay, which comes with AT&T rom. However, baseband and pda version is the same as jojosilvera. When I check online it seems that device is from Israel where KitKat update hasn't been released there (wtf). So I don't know what to do.

It does say SGH-I337. But since it's different in baseband I can't update the phone neither using Kios or on-fly AT&T updater. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Flash with Odin.
That was something I wanted to avoid. The seller offered me a return. Why would untouched firmware would be like this? Should I return it when I have the chance or just root & flash with another ROM? Thanks btw
