Hi
I just have a quick question regarding installing a 4.4.2 update with a different baseband to what is currently on my sm-n9005 as i am a impatient creature. Will it be possible and will i run into any issues doing this (e.g. modem differences etc) i also plan to install Sweet Rom once i can update the boot loader from 4.4.2
Current device
Baseband- N9005XXUDMJ7 (Saudi region i believe)
Build number- JSS15J.N9005XXUDMJ7
Update details
N9005XXUENB3_N9005OXXENB1_XEO (POLAND)
I have tried to find a answer via the almighty google but couldn't find a similar situation, any help greatly appreciated!!!!!

Shouldn't be any issues flashing KK via Odin. -- So long as your note is not a Hong Kong variant. (which yours appears to not be)

Hello,
I'm a little confused about which region SM-N9005 I have.
In phone settings -> about device it shows:
Model number: SM-N9005
Baseband version: N9005XXUBMI5
Build number: JSS15J.N9005ZHUBMI7
In Kies,
Current firmware version: PDA:MI7 PHONE:MI5 CSC:MI7 (TGY)
Latest firmware version: PDA:MJ8 PHONE:MJ4 CSC:MJ8 (TGY)
After a little research I have found out that TGY is the region code for Hong Kong, and the Build number seems to verify this.
But what about Baseband version? Doesn't XX mean European region?
I bought this phone on eBay. So its quite possible someone fiddled with it to make it work here (BTW I'm in UK).
Can anyone shed any light, before I flash the wrong region firmware via ODIN and brick my phone?
Also I have CF-Auto-Rooted (Thanks Chainfire), which is why I'm not updating through Kies.
Thanks to all in advance,
Jason

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, but I'm still unsure which Region firmware I need to flash. (I'm talking about stock firmware here).
If I flash The Hong Kong firmware, will my phone still work here in the UK? Will it change my phone language to Chinese?
I understand flashing the wrong region for your device could result in a brick. Is this correct?
I really would like a definitive answer before I do something stupid.
Thanks all
Update
Just a quick update..
I read through the entire CF-Auto-Root thread (50 pages!). A couple of posts mentioned that I could update through Kies if I first factory reset my phone.
I did so, and the update succeeded! I then proceeded to CF-Auto-Root again, to regain root access. Joy!
Now my 'About device' screen looks like this:
Baseband version: N9005ZHUDMJ4
Build number: JSS15J.N9005ZHUDMJ8
A couple of questions.
The baseband version is not correct for my region (UK, Europe (XX))
Will this have adverse effects on my connection to networks?
Is it possible to flash only the correct baseband? If so, how?
Thank you all for taking time to help me

Hey guys..
So I was trying to install a Korean Note 3 4.2.2 firmware (SM-N900S) on my Australian Note 3 (SM-N9005) using ODIN but was a failure.. It wouldn't proceed, saying "failed" so I gave up and instead of that I've installed UK Note 3 4.2.2 (SM-N9005)..
But I still want to install Korean firmware on my phone!!
So does anyone have any idea why this was a failure??
Is it because the model name is different?? (Will changing the model name by rooting help?)
From my past experience, I was able to install international firmware even without changing the model name..
About my device:
AP: N9005XXUEND3
CP: N9005XXUENC2
CSC: N9005OXAEND1
If you need any information about my phone (version etc.) Please ask!!
So I'm currently on UK BTU 4.2.2 (SM-N9005) and trying to install Korean SKT 4.2.2 (SM-N900S).
*This isn't a custom rom!!
Please help..
Thanks!!

The boot sequence in modern phones is secure/restricted (and Odin also tries to enforce it even before the boot - to stop you from writing bad stuff).
Basically the bootloader is different (something that you can also see even on the same N9005 model when going from 4.3 to 4.4 - 4.4 does not work with old 4.3 bootloader and currently there is a restriction which stops you from downgrading the bootloader).

But I'm not trying to downgrade.. Will it still not work..?
Also then, is there any other way to break this restriction?

Which Firmware did you try to install? According to your problem description you are most likely trying to downgrade, which is not possible under certain circumstances.

Apparently you can only downgrade AP but not the modem. First flash your new ROM, then flash your current modem version afterwards.

Hi,
What model of phone do you have? The LTE SM-N9005? If so (and I hope someone could either second this or correct me if i'm wrong) I believe you could flash via odin (and you do not need to be rooted to do this) the lollipop update that O2 has. 5.0 is available for the UK via the sammobile website, so if the basebands remain the same and the phone is the same model, I believe you could just download the 5.0 update from sammobile and flash it via odin.
Since you would be flashing an official version of sammy's rom, you won't need to be rooted, nor have a custom recovery.
Cheers

so, you are using the sm-n9005, and the firmware u have is the same one as the firmware that the 02 UK version runs in 4.4.2.
Unless I'm mistaken, and if anyone sees I am please correct me, you could flash the 5.0 version with odin for o2 UK. I don't see why it wouldn't work, since it seems you have the same phone and firmware currently in 4.4.2
cheers

Your device is using of UK (with CSC: BTU). It still without Lollipop update. I recommend don't flash via ODIN any firmware and wait for future updates (via OTA) if you aren't rooted.

Use any unbranded firmware mate, UK for example. By unbranded I mean try those which don't come with any carrier labelling, you know like O2 etc.

Yes, unless EE is a carrier name it should be unbranded.
Installing the EE firmware will also install EE's own remote phone locking software in the persdata partition (Which is a real pain to remove as it will keep coming back even if you flash a non EE firmware) as well as EE's bloatware.
Use the BTU firmware for a clean unbranded phone.

Downgrading on galaxy note 4
Hi....I just found your thread and wanted to know did the downgrade work in the end and what impact did it have on the phone. Did it improve? What were the reasons you decided to downgrade?
Thanks
