What would YOU pay for ??

Hi forum.
I have a question for you.
But first to be 100% clear, i will pay when i have froyo on my phone, just as i have promished, this is NOT a "i will not pay"-thread in NO WAY, i just think we forget some dev´s work... Then on to the question:
As we now see that 2.2 rom´s are close, but without cracked bootloader, i would really like to know what you all think about that.
The reason is that we (many of us, and me included) have promised money for a working 2.2 rom, but what now about the people that is still working really hard on cracking the bootloader, should they not also get paied for that when they get it working ??
If not, i see no reason for them to continue, and i think they will stop the work, and that would really be a shame, as the cracked bootloader is the way to free our phone from S/E 100%.
AN OTHER THING:
The way that this payment is set up, would that not make progress a lot slower ??
What i think it this:
We say " i would pay for working froyo"....
But if all the dev´s would like to get the money, then when they make some kind of progress they are proberbly less likely to share that with other dev´s ??
I don´t know how we can set up a better dev-payment-system, but i think the way it works actually slow down progress instead of speeding things up...

+1 just buy them a beer or two for the time they already spent with this ***** called rachael. This'll motivate them to continue.
Btw. i don't think that they're all on that just because of the money, it's probably more for the success itself to crack one of the best locked down devices out there.

What has been tried to unlock the bootloader?

I was gonna go in Acer's international headquarters and take hostages until they unlocked the bootloader. It'd probably be faster.
Good to see another Carolina boy around here, although I left the Carolinas a few years ago.

Clearly nothing by the lack of responses. This tablet is dead for hacking. I will be getting rid of mine in a few months if nothing progresses with this tab.

actually there are a few guys who are working quite hard at getting through the bootloader, but it is hard work. Progress has been made though...... when you buy a product early,sometimes you have to be a little patient while the smart guys figure out how to get around the protections put in place. And I can say I'm in discussions with a very friendly gent from Acer singapore about getting things sorted by Acer themselves...... too early to say much, but he is quite open and responsive. All things will come in time one way or another If you are looking to help them out, you may want to check the thread on here..... the boys there will be better prepared to tell you what needs to be done

My contract was up on May 9, however, after speaking with AT&T customer care they were able to give me an early contract renewal for free allowing me to pre order my GS4. This is all based on your account tenure, account type and current probability standing as they refer to it. On most good standing status accounts, most main carriers will let you purchase a new phone 30 days before your contract is up. Pre-ordering a phone is also different.
That's good you got the deal - happy for you. Hope you're enjoying your Galaxy S4. Thanks also for the review recommendation.

Well it showed up on the first page of the section it was in and no one had touched it so I posted to it. Just because it's an old thread doesn't mean they don't need or want info still.
If it needs to 'rest in peace' it would've been closed/locked.

I know who needs and wants info that you could of help everyone that bricked their device on mf3. Your leaving those people out and could of took consideration into helping them. lol

I didn't leave anyone out lol this thread was pertaining to bricked devices regarding MF3 OTA.....

[Q] Note 3 locked nv items...

ok im looking for a way to write certain nv items to fix me phone.. when i write said items or item it does not take..
any ideas? im really stumped..
all i can think is that there is a secret file some people may have that allows them to write certain NV Item and have them take..
well again any help would be AWESOME..

why would it have to be a joke.. dont let the account fool you.. I couldn't gain access to my other one which is older than this one..
I have a very specific reason for asking this and im positive there are people on here that understand what i am asking..

Hi stoney.. maybe in the future before you jump on the bandwagon you stop and ask me why i might want to write to protected nv items..
or heck maybe i want to hack the bootloader? maybe i got a phone sitting here that i would love to experiment on.. be the guinea pig for some Dev that need to try stuff on a phone.. maybe i just want to mess with my phone..

If so, Then you would have just said so in your opening post, instead of being so obtuse. Maybe in the future, be more specific, and less dodgy and ppl wouldnt jump to more than likely correct assumptions.

obtuse? dodgy? how the heck do you figure that.. and regardless of what YOU think my motives are or any one else for that matter I was plain with my topic title on my opening post..
is it now illigal to want to bypass locked nv items? and since we are on the subject of locked nv items..and imeis.. your going to sit here and tell me that the imei is the only locked down nv item? yea okay..
In the future.. when addressing a post.. why not try to come off a bit nicer..
seems people here tend to treat the (new guys to certain subject) or new posters with rudeness and harsh replies..
I took a leave of absence from this forum due to joining the military and now i have a little free time on my hands and wanted to explore this phone a little bit ..learn about it.. and one of the first damn questions i ask gets met with assumptions and thats illegal.. wow.

As previously said, why the vagueness in the opening post then? Well done on joining the military, but its got zip all to do with anything.
In the future, be clear as to which questions if any you are asking, why the deliberate vagueness? Of course it could be messing about with the bootloader, etc. But with the deliberate vagueness, I somehow doubt it.

all right man you made me laugh.. yes the vagueness is there for a reason.. am i going to tell why.. nope.. will i when im done trying what im trying sure..
but ill give you this.. I have gone from 4.3 to 4.4 and back down ..bricked and recovered via a pin short on the board.. im not new but i am rusty.. but the fundamentals stay the same..
Its taxing trying to find out info on this new security when theres no info to be had.. or when the info is there people keeping it to them selfs because there making a buck on it..
Now.. I will say this.. the process for the note 3 is new to me.. and 85% of what ive done has been on accident and im recreating what i did..
So what do i need to mess with locked nv items for .. well any number of reasons.. and i guess thats the reason for the vagueness, I just want to see what i see and what i can do.. what i can hook onto and what i can exploit..

Reading that, ok. You may be better off asking someone like ChainFire who knows the ins and outs of the bootloader? Perhaps the kernel devs in original development?

I would like to change the imei of his phone for him although who brought up changing the imei in the first place? Whoever says such things MUST be the guilty party ! EDIT (Important): Could someone who requested an unlock please look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/to-unlock-bootloader-hold-help-t3437617/page1 . This would help develop for this phone much faster. Please do the steps mentioned before updating.

Seems pretty guaranteed actually all the CSRs were apparently misinformed and the one of the head forum CSRs is furious about this and seems like pretty much guaranteed unlock in a reply to the post above.

Yeah ! It was me who posted on zte forums .. Just wanted to nudge them a little so they can at least come clean

Thank god you did I almost cancelled my order. I posted my frustration in that thread too.

Yup I'm there too LoL, (not my usual username i have to change that).
So we hope we get some awesome news next week (fingers cross)

Can't wait for Monday now lol, hope there is still enough buzz with the device here on XDA for ROMs and not too many people jumped ship.

Definitely hope we get some good roms with the bootloaders unlocked.
Had my Axon 7 for a couple weeks now, live in Oz and chinese version works fine here, and it's a pretty sweet deal. Got an Antutu benchmark of almost 142000 edging out the 1+3 by a few hundred points....
My only gripe is the virtual assistant software is only available in Chinese...
If the bootloader is unlocked I should be able to change to WW firmware fixing this....

Awesome! With the confusion over whether Passport 2.0 applies to Newegg purchases or if it is final/replacement-only, I was starting to worry that I may be need to cancel my preorder just to be safe. But if the bootloader is going to be unlocked, frankly that seals the deal for me. As far as I can tell, the only issue left is low-light camera performance, but honestly, with all the positives for this phone it isn't a huge tradeoff.
I just hope the late notice hasn't turned off developers of custom roms and root/recovery builders.

Yea bootloader unlock deal was making me doubt this phone, I really hope devs are still attarcted to this too. A lot of the reviews on the ZTE forums say that manual mode is much better in low light so it is most likely a software bug.

Also on the newegg product page under Warranty & Returns it states you can return for refund before 30 days but a restocking fee may be applied so you are probably fine if you want to try out the device but you might want to check with newegg just in case.

I have the chinese model, just got an update. In Chinese forums they are talking about root and bootloader regarding this update.
Am in Vietnam now and Google translate is failing, but I'm hopeful!

Where is this chinese forum? I can never find it, really want to translate some of the stuff.

Google translate, does a less than stellar job on it.
What's interesting about the ZTE Chinese forums is that you can download the full ROM updates, which you can also do from ztedevices.com, but you can't do any of it for US based devices.

That's the link, I think. My mate translates for me. I don't speak Chinese and their slang and technical terms aren't fit for Google translation

Hopefully it arrives by the 15th, so I'll know if I should cancel my pre-order Grey model.

I believe that this is the topic.
But nothing too constructive as far as google translate can take me... As far as i could understand, it's just someone that tought the OEM Unlock menu appeared with the last update (B07) but it was already there and does nothing (a lot of interpretation in my traduction of the garbage google gave me^^).
