Xperia Arc S or HTC Sensation XL ?

Hey guys!
I'm planning to buy a new phone in 2 weeks ..
I'm confused between these two .. Xperia Arc S and Sensation XL ..
Any recommendations or guidance from the users of these phones

What i like about the XL :
Massive 4.7" screen
Easier to touch-type
Beats audio
What i like about the Arc S :
Sharper screen (233 ppi) despite the small size (4.3"), comparing to the XL's 4.7" and (199 ppi)
The cool looks !
The upcoming official ICS will look great on the that phone
Both processors are fast .. 1.4 and 1.5
Taking into account that I lOVE the new ICS look and i'd love to have it on my next phone .. While i can only have it on the Arc S because of CM support .. And i don't know how to get that look on the Sensation XL because of the lack of suport and the too little ROMs availablity

By what you said, get Arc S, or wait a little more for Xperia S. Both will get ICS until june. Arc S is going to get stable CM9 soon, and I'm sure there will be some guys from FreeXperiaTeam (who work with CM in 2011 Xperia devices) working ASAP on Xperia S.

You ask that question in an Xperia Arc forum? Are you dumb or something?

i had just pick up an arc a month ago..i just take it primarily because of it good looks other than that sony promise of official ice cream samndwish and a remote chance that the arc get Playstation store outside of japan..
but i don't see if both arc and sensation gonna be relevent by the 3rq quarters of this year.as i change phone every year, the arc fits the time frame..but if u wanna kept your phone lots longer, get a dual core

I'd say Arc S
Has a micro sd slot which the XL doesn't have.
If the XL had dualcore I'd go with that but it hasn't and 100Mhz are no difference.

+1 to arcS... HTC is too expancive... What are you paying for? Half of inch? Wright question is arcS or Sensation XE... Dual core, great display, Beats Audio... And looks great to. I would prefer SE because I am a BIG fan of it... And you can go to the store, take both of them in yor hands and decide...

Seems like the Arc S is a winner for me. The charisma and charm of this phone is irresistible. However, I'm considering the upcoming Xperia S too .. Just Hoping it won't be too expensive

this HTC comes with a internal 16G memory and 768 MB ram - these are more critical factors for performance. correct me if i am wrong?

Ok, RAM is a big plus.
But for me the 16GB non-expandable memory (?) are too less, so no-go. I have ~23GB on my phone.

I read somewhere, and it has been an "aaaaah yeah..." moment for me,
that we shouldn't compare SE phones with Samsung and HTC phones.
They are not at all about the hardware or the Android version.
They fill in the gap between the people who are hardcore users and spec enthusiasts and those who have no idea about smartphones.
They are targetting people who are OK with having a really beautiful phone, advanced camera function and good hardware, not necessarily top-of-the-top.
And even though XDA forums are normally not a place for such people, you can't deny the very existense of such target group.
Seeing it like this, you can understand why they haven't joined the hardware race that Samsung and HTC are running atm.

I was tempted by Note because of it's size and power etc. as I could eventually get one for free,
but this device is NOT impressive.
The screen - again - looks like oversaturated **** and the UI is actually disgusting.
I quit after 5 minutes of playing with it.
BTW the performance when just fiddling with it was actually mediocre.

Xperia S is worth wait, as far I have seen after AOSP Sony has one of the best UI and they aren't in the race for great hardware spec like other which just made Dual core devices without software support for it. Sony waited to release dual core when it's necessary i.e. As far as I know ICS is optimized for Dual core. So when they started rolling out ICS update they started to make dual core devices. But if you looking to brag about the spec then sure go for SGS 3 that might out

Galaxy S III vs other phone out there today.

I just recently lost my Galaxy S 3, and honestly I was thinking I will buy the phone again, but since I'm going to use my money to invest a brand new phone. Is there any other phone out there which is better than the S 3 today? I'm not interested in HTC One X.

I would wait for the Note 2 that will be unveiled later this month.

If you need a phone right now and can't wait to see what apple has to offer in September or October then SG3 is the best choice.

your best option is the AT&T HTC one x ( that is if you change your mind on the One x AND if u live in the US). Or you could get a galaxy nexus with jelly bean at a very good price....

I don't know if this is true for all G2Xes/Optimus 2Xes, but Canadian ones won't be receiving an update to ICS. Personally, I'd stay away from LG.

Sony is releasing a few that look pretty good. Windows 8 phones are coming too. I would personally either get the GS3, wait for the windows 8 version of the GS3, or the new Nokia flagship provided it is thinner than the fat lumias.

If you cant wait definately the SGS III. There is no other device that is so well rounded atm. Nice screen, best ergonomic design in the android line (after 2 years with a DHD its a blessing to be able to power up the phone with the physical homebutton and shut it off on the side, no way to power on a OneX with only one hand of my size...), good battery life, exactly as much storage as you need: 16-128gb, nice UI and huge XDA support.
There were two other devices i was thinking about: The Huawei Ascend D quad and the Galaxy Nexus. But the huawei had cpu problems and was delayed - not a good sign imho. And what looked like a stock google experience first with fast updates, was killed by another bad looking sluggish UI, so we have no idea how fast they will bring out updates etc.
The Galaxy Nexus is only nice because it already has JB and is cheaper, but that will eventually come to the SGSIII as well. The small storage and the lower mpx camera were the turnoff here.
And you know how it is with Smartphones there is always the next big thing right around the corner... So after having the SGSIII for a few days i really feel like i have made the right choice! Its such a big step if you're coming from an older phone like the DesireHD. Everything is soo fu***** fast!!!

Alright, thanks for the advice, but from every places I have read, and heard personal from Huawei owner wasn't satisfied with the product. Either the phone died to quickly, or the battery just started to decrease, or yet... it just stop, or freeze, so they have to reboot all the time.
I used to own my GSIII, and the phone was nice. I wasn't unhappy with the product, except I didn't like the home button. It was small and narrow, and not so flexible like the GS II.
Personally, it would be more higher chance for me to buy the GS III again, but since the GS III just arrived out to the market for few months now, and I was thinking perhaps there might be a better phone which could stand against the GS III. Personally, I would love the phone have a good sound chip. The GS II suck so hard vs the GS I and III for the sound.

The only two complaints, although major, I had with the Xperia S was that it was using the Qualcomm S3 and the screen had a yellow tint problem. I didn't mind GB so much and the Qualcomm S3 was actually surprisingly smooth. The tablet S with a crappy tegra 2 runs incrediblly smooth with the ICS update too.
So I would think the Xperia GX and Mint will be the closest S3 competitors on the horizon. They earned some points with me. I am sure Nokia will show the windows phone 8 flagship soon as well.

Thats probably why Huawei delayed the phones. It should bother you if they released the phones in that state, not that they held off on releasing them to fix the problems.

Unless you want a bigger battery, Galaxy Nexus is the best replacement:
1-strongly supported by google
2-HD screen
3-Jelly Beans 4.1 OS
4-Good quality
5-The beautiful AMOLED screen
6-It is going to get Android 5.0 update.

Beside the Xperia Play which is a unique device, Nexus phones are probably the only ones I'll be buying.

I'd go for the Galaxy Nexus.

i've just bought my nexus...thanks for the opinions though.. about the chinese phone, i dont really like the it..i like phone because of its uniqueness..and i can live without quadcore..

Out of those two Galaxy nexus, but My next device is either HTC One X, One S or Xperia SL, The only thing stopping me from getting a One x now is Sense 4 (ugly, definitely intend to use a sense less rom.) and the only reason the Xperia SL is being considered is because I like Sony's UX.
And the HTC One X will be getting Playstation mobile.

Agreed they’re all as bad as each other. Look at Samsung they bring out the s4 everyone rushes out and buys it, then 1 month later the first picture of the S4 Active come out!

Now I agree with someone elses comment about Sony being like HTC. Bad move because it hasn't helped HTC at all EVER!!!
Flooding the market with Many different models that a similar just confuses people, doesn't directly contribute to larger market share.
One great model and one or two of cheaper alternatives works extremely well. Look at Apple and Samsung, the two at the top by a long shot.
On the bright side so far it doesn't appear to have the next generation CPU

Flooding in market with different model and spec actually give user more choices. I don't see any wrong with this.
Samsung did this brilliantly success.

Clearly just a side-grade (if not downgrade) from our Z. It's much uglier too. I'm surprised it doesn't even have snapdragon 600. I guess that's a relief though.

Sony ul doesnt seem to be less worthier than z in anyway..its one and d same. But only one in sony s products has got the name "the best of sony" "sony s flagship".
So chill out if any phones of sony beats xz then , the name "flagship" will be no more for xz.so no need to worry about our xz gettin outdated.

The reason why Samsung controls such a large portion of the Android market is not because of their top-end phones, but their low-end phones that are bought by a lot of people in poorer countries like China and India. That's partially the reason why adoption for ICS and JB each are lower than GB: most of the phones sold are low-end ones, as much as people hate to admit that.

Galaxy S5 announced. Z2 kicks it's ass.

Galaxy S5 just announced. And I have to say, the Z2 kicks it's ass. Heck, the Z1 might even have a thing or two to say to it. Never thought I'd see the day. But some features Samsung omitted are odd. Especially when u consider 3GB RAM and 4K recording can be gotten on the note 3.

No QHD screen and 'only' a 16MP camera, albeit with faster AF fix times and improved HDR. Even Samsung is running out of things to wow people with.
The fingerprint detection isn't meant to be that hot either, and waterproofing? Yeah, that's unique.
But Sony has been a bit lucky as it could have been a lot more, leaving the Z2 looking like a poor show.

The only 2 things that got me excited about Galaxy S5 are the ultra power saving mode, which is putting an Amoled screen to a good use and the 10hr LTE web browsing. I won't believe it until I test that in person though. That sound's nuts, taking into account that I usually get about 3hrs on screen time with Z1 and when testing Z1 Compact I managed to get around 5hrs.

S5 is like:
Samsung S5 is old people phone Private mode, kids mode for your grandchildren Camera sticking out OLD, but not for huge Nokia camera + backside looks like old case, that was attracting to the eyes and a HEART MONITOR? Why? Old people will really like that, phone + heart monitor, 2 in 1

Specwise it's about the same as Z2 probably. But Z2 looks 100 times better

Why should this even be a surprise? The Galaxy series have never been great phones for people in the techie crowd. They're more for the average John Q Public.

Honestly even the Z1 looks better than the S5. Considering the amount of hype Samsung generated with their 'overhauled' UI and new metal frame, the end product is complete crap. Just look at it...it looks like a cheap chinese ripoff. Somehow I think it looks even worse than the S4. Even the 'all new' UI is the same crap with new icons. No innovation either, they blatantly ripped off the fingerprint scanner and waterproofing from Apple and Sony. Samsung make the most uninspired, overpriced crap I have ever come across. Touchwiz is sh*t and their design is sh*t. I really wish Sony or HTC had the marketing budget of Samsung so that their phones can become popular and represent Android instead of Samsung. Why anyone would buy this over the LG G2, new HTC One or Z2 is beyond me.

lol, Samsung do to pump out clones of their own before chinese knock off flood the market with galaxy clones. Yeah, really wish Sony got the same kind of backing from the Japanese government like Samsung does for mega marketing campaign. And they also need to get their stuffs out quick, heard Z2 won't be available in NA for at least 2 months after other regions, by then all competitors would have sold millions already.

Really, I though guys are overreacting but it really looks plastic and cheap...
But, as I said many times before, I never liked Samsung, it always look kinda cheap to me...
But there's many great friends (mine) who are loving it - so I'm happy because they got a new toy (this time it's a real toy .)
BTW, if it's powered by KitKat, how come Samsung are allowed to use that kind of battery icon?
I thought Google was clear about KitKat icon philosophy...hmm....

I cannot wait for the Z2. Haven't been this excited about a phone since I got my first android phone (desire) about 4 years ago. The specs seem perfect, but the only thing I'm wary of is the size of the phone. Will it be too bulky?

And why do they keep insisting on trying to make phones that have removable batteries waterproof? Best case scenario users become paranoid and worry about the casing staying attached (and it's gonna wear eventually), worst case scenario a whole bunch of phones ruined due to "user manufacturer error".

If the S4 is their flagship, we can assume it will sell for around $800. How much are they going to charge for the so-called 'premium' line? $1000+? You'd have to be a fool to buy that with phones like the Z2 and HTC One already having the premium status for much less.
