Problem with crap service??????? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I switched from a T-Mobile GS3 to an unlocked I337 S4. When I got it home I only had E network in my home where as my S3 always had full bars of 4G service. After lots of searching and talking with tmobile I switched sims and thought I would have to resale the phone and buy a tmobile variant. Until I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291589 I now have the same service I had before. If not better. If you are having the same problem this might just be what you are looking for. :victory:

Thank you for doing the research. I wish more were like you.

I have had the phone now for about a week. Finally found the solution. Thanks to the person who posted the post I linked in my first post. It was super simple and I saw immediate results.

[Q] MT4G on the verizon network?

Ok 1st off I'm a noob, sorry if this question upsets anyone, I have looked and read a lot of threads. I have just switched carriers from Tmobile to Verizon. Before anyone gets upset I could not get service at my work on my Tmobile, and since we have a Verizon tower on site it pretty much what everyone uses. Well i'm trying to unlock me MT4G so I can use it with my verizon sim card. I have already rooted and simlock off via gfree. what my next step?

Umm... right.
Completely incompatible networks. Sorry.
There are plenty of nice Verizon Androids. If you don't like the Verizon phone you already have, trade the MT4G for a Verizon Android.
Next step: sell mt4g and get verizon compatible phone.

thanks guys that was what i thought just was hoping it wasn't the case. i picked up a new android today but was hoping to continue using my old one since it was fairly new as a back up. I have both the MT4G and 3Gslide from my old Tmobile acct.
Poor bastard. No wifi at work? Get a verizon mifi and use that with wifi calling. Ha!

Switch from ATT Galaxy 2 to International?

Hi -
I currently have the AT&T version, but was thinking about making the jump to the International version. There is definately more activity from a development standpoint for the International version.
Can I use the International one on AT&T? Is there any know issues I should be aware of prior to doing this? For example, can I still get H+?
Thanks.

Are you talking about switching to a Galaxy S II 9100?
Tons of people are using them in the states before the AT&T versions were announced/released. I believe they are nearly identical in terms of network/band support (shy of the LTE model Skyrocket)
Yes. I would switch the at&t Samsung galaxy s II to the international version i9100.
I thought people had issues getting h+ to work though.
I'm guessing I should just be able to move the similar card over.
Thanks
Thanka

I have the International version and have been using it on AT&T for like 4 months now. If you are going to get a new phone, get the Galaxy Nexus

You shouldn't have any problems; I've been using the international version on AT&T for 6 months. The only area where you might have some issues is with ROMs -- a ROM package made for the AT&T version probably won't work on the international version.
It works perfectly well, just a warning if you purchase the white model. Att recognizes the imei as a blackberry for some reason. I had to call them four times and push them until they finally let me keep the media net plan.

I've been using the international version on AT&T since July. Only problem is that it drops signal after a phone call and randomly at other times. It come right back up tho. I don't know if this is due to my area or what or even my phone singularly.

I have been using the GT-I9100 for a few months now without issue, it was a little rough at first trying to get the correct APN provisioned but after dealing with a Supervisor who had half a clue I was able to have the correct APN provisioned and things have been great ever since.
However, since you already have a Galaxy S2 at&t has already provisioned your account with correct APN, so you should be good to go form that perspective.
I really like the GT-I9100 and am really happy with it, I came back from London on the 20th and played with a Galaxy Nexus while I was over there. Very impressive phone but not a major step up from the SGS2 IMHO, added to that I believe that ICS on the SGS2 is going to be pretty slick as the Exynos/Mali combo is just as good or maybe even slightly better than the TI OMAP/Power VR combo on the GNex.

I'm a grandfathered $30 unlimited data subscriber. Is the only thing I would need to do is move the SIM from current AT&T Galaxy S II to the International i9100? Will I need to call customer service to have them switch anything?
Thanks.

Nothing at all. I bought the internationAl the day it was released in the UK. I pulled the Sim from my inspire placed it in my gs2. Rooted about 15 minutes later and haven't had an issue yet. Play with apns depending on your area. I have had little success with major gains but mainly due to living in the major tristate area(too many users)
Edit: don't call and give them your imei. It changes nothing and has changed nothing with my acct
Shouldn't be hard to find the AT&T APN online. I did it with Virgin. When I installed a rom using full wipe, it erased APN. Same as getting a new phone really. A quick google search and manual APN inputs and I was back. You shouldn't need to do it though...first time I booted my phone up after I bought it, it picked the service up instantly.

That simple, remove the sim from your current phone (I777) and insert it into your new phone (GT-I9100) and you should be good to go.
I am also Grandfathered into the Unlimited Plan and to date have had zero issues.
One warning, if you plan on buying the White GT-I9100, that seems to come up in at&t Mobility's system as a Blackberry and the computer will try and provision your account for Blackberry use.
Dan
Great responses all! Appreciate the input.
I was only planning to buy the black one. Not having much luck on Ebay right now...
Thanks.

[Q] P6800 and Rogers Wireless [CANADA]

From all I can find out, rogers will work with the international P6800... As yet to be confirmed to me, I am searching xda for canadian users of the 7.7 on rogers experiences, if any.
I am seriously considering getting the international p6800 [from negri or pm sale] if it works fully on Rogers in CANADA.
Please help me spend my money wisely this time.... see below if you are wondering why I say this.

I moved my Rogers SIM from my Note to my P6800 to check this out. Worked like a charm. In fact, seems to have better signal strength with Rogers than I do with Bell (the SIM that's usually in the P6800). So there you go - spend your money wisely.
Yup, my dad doing that right now. Bought it from bestaele (or something). Go to gsmarena on the side, it's a Canadian company. We bought from them, pretty fast and reliable.
As for robbers, yup that works fine. Since 7.7 has all the bands, you should be fine with any Canadian network.
Hope this helps!

[Q] My Samsung S4 att drops signal

Giants,
I have my 32 gb samsung s4 since the end of 2012, however, I have been flashing a lot of roms with no issue. the problem started a week ago when the display has been broken and I changed it. Everything went okay for 3 days, suddenly, it starts to drop signal with no reason. I flashed the rom again "liquidsmooth rom" and I flashed another rom, I even flashed the modem again. I tried to search for the problem, I don't know if the brokee of my display ambact the signal or it is a software issue. Now, I am using liquidsmooth 4.4.4.
I have been testing my Sim card in other phone, it works perfectly. I have tried other sims in my phone it gives me the same issue. another thing I want to mention is that after this problem I have never get 3G or 3g+, I always get 2G or No signal.
Omar,
It's a long shot but maybe your apn settings changed check them. Not sure if it will work but worth a try.

Overall, in my opinion VZW has best coverage in the big picture. ATT next. That being said, it depends on where you are. I can only speak about Verizon. I've been happy since we got root. You can go up and down firmware easily.
I used USC for several years and as a constant US traveler, they did well by me until I got a data plan. Only 200mb of any data plan can be roaming. That's why I moved to VZW. If you don't leave the home area much, it shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, I believe the USC phones can be rooted. Do a Google search for whichever phone you are interested in, and you should find information. You should also be able to find it here on XDA. BTW, Chicago is part of USC's home area.
