[Q] My Samsung S4 att drops signal - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Giants,
I have my 32 gb samsung s4 since the end of 2012, however, I have been flashing a lot of roms with no issue. the problem started a week ago when the display has been broken and I changed it. Everything went okay for 3 days, suddenly, it starts to drop signal with no reason. I flashed the rom again "liquidsmooth rom" and I flashed another rom, I even flashed the modem again. I tried to search for the problem, I don't know if the brokee of my display ambact the signal or it is a software issue. Now, I am using liquidsmooth 4.4.4.
I have been testing my Sim card in other phone, it works perfectly. I have tried other sims in my phone it gives me the same issue. another thing I want to mention is that after this problem I have never get 3G or 3g+, I always get 2G or No signal.
Omar,

It's a long shot but maybe your apn settings changed check them. Not sure if it will work but worth a try.

[Update]
Dears,
I'm struggling with the phone I don't know if I lost it or I can fix the problem. New thing happened outside of my home I got 3g+ and some time I got 3g. However, I am outside the US, I don't have LTE over here.
Would anyone give me an advice how do I know if it's IT issue or it’s Technical issue.

I've been looking forward your comments guys. Anyone can help?

I'm having the same issue. Any help?

Outbound call issues with N4

Seems like my new Nexus 4 doesn't like my LTE micro sim card from Rogers Canada. I noticed when I'm placing a call, dialer hangs up and a split second later reconnects. Call goes thru fine, but gets registered as 2 calls in call log. This also prevents from dialing in conference bridges
I've seen similar behaviour before from my old Motorola XT860, so I immediately suspected the SIM which turned to be the culprit with the XT860. So I changed back to my old non-LTE micro SIM and all is good now. Its not big deal, since phone isn't LTE anyway, but is really annoying.
Anyone else noticed similar behaviour?
Why is it annoying? It is not an lte phone? Why would you expect an lte sim to work?

Heh.. "thanks" for the useful reply!
Rogers uses one LTE Sim which is backward compatible with 3g. I'm using one and I haven't experienced any issues so far.

Same here. Took the LTE sim out of my S3 and haven't had an issue.
Thanks guys, since I switched back to my old non LTE Sim, I haven't had any issue. With the LTE Sim it was doing it maybe 3 out of 4 times, so not all the time. I'll pick nano Sim with adapter soon to see if it behaves any different. I'm glad Rogers let's you switch between sim cards without much hassle at least.

Well - now since Nexus 4 works pretty well on LTE in Canada, I think I have a pretty good reason to solve that reconnect call issue. Dialling conference bridges is really annoying as you can't do it automatically and some of us do use the phone for work.

Issue with Network - Losing Networt completely for few seconds while using 3g data!!!

I have an issue where the network suddenly dissapiars when I using 3g data and is back withing few seconds.
I dont think this is an issue with the phone but rather with the vodafone network as the problem started when I went on WCDMA mode from auto mode now I have switched back to auto mode to see whether the problem still exist.
Has anyone else experience the same problem
My gt-i9505 switch permanent from H to H+ and get connection issues or no network error the problem is my german provider 1&1 (vodafone Network)doesn't Support Fast Dormancy i think this causses the problems anyone figured out to disable FD on galaxy s4 without root?
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9505 mit Tapatalk 2
Yes the same thing happens to me I guess its an issue that will be sorted out soon
So no one else from India has faced the same issue ???
I got the same problem with vodafone and i9505 in italy.
I'm actually looking for the code to disable fast dormancy but nothing found at the moment.
Code *#9900# doesn't have the fast dormancy selection in GS4
My issue is also on a Vodafone Network in India unfortunately at first i thought it was a problem with my cell phone but i am pretty sure it is issue with the vodafone 3g network and the way the phone interacts with it.
Yes you're probably right.
Really strange that also GS2 GS3 and Note phones have the same problem and samsung surely knows this behaviour of their firmware. If never has changed till now, I think we have almost no chance of getting an update from samsung.
Never had this issue with my S3, and I'm seeing this behavior on both AT&T (US) and Chunghwa (Taiwan)... with the exact same SIM cards even! There is something really wrong with either the S4 or my handset...!

Any updates to this? Getting this on the i9500, annoying!

I wanted to chime in. I have a Sprint Galaxy S4 and I've noticed the same issue with 3g suddenly disappearing and then coming back within a few seconds. I don't ever recall it happening too often with my Galaxy S3. Strange..
Any solution to this its a piss of that I can't use my phone properly also I bought this from eBay called samsung canada they said it's not covered under warranty because I didn't purchase it through a authorised retailer. F**k samsung
I have experienced the same issue since the first date I bought my i9500. Tried different modems but the issue is there. I have to turn airplane mode on and then off to get signal back. It's not a carrier issue. I had the same problem using different SIM cards. Hope they fix it soon.

I find it odd that there certainly is a group of us i9500 users on here experiencing this, but not more people reporting it. Like I mentioned, I'm using the exact same SIM cards as I used on my S3 i9300, and after extensively using them in my S4, I see the exact same network loss issue on their respective networks. Definitely not SIM or carrier related...
Could there be a lot of defective i9500's out there, and we're just the unlucky bunch?!? For what it's worth, my i9500 was purchased from Expansys-USA and was a Latin America model.
You should consider a Samsung related problem. I read a lot of forum and the problem was present in i9300 and i9100 too.
I never had a single network data loss with my previous LG-P990 and now I have a lot of network data loss with the new i9505 in the same locations.

You're not reading very well, we had zero issues with our previous Samsung devices on the exact same SIMs on the exact same networks (mine being a Galaxy S3).
I'd like to keep the wild theories at a minimum and try and get some empirical data on this issue from actual users.

How bad is it for you guys can you still make phone calls or use data. I cant do either i lose service about every 25-30 seconds. Hoping samsung replaces this or comes out with a fix.
its the modem firmware i believe. this always happened during first batch of release.

I really hope that's what it is, I never experienced this with my i9000, i9100, or i9300 though. And, I pretty much bought all of them at launch / first batches.

You right, I'm sorry. Reading too much faster for me :silly:
I really hope that's a modem firmware related problem, but I don't understand why a similar problem becomes on every new phone model. Samsung restarts the firmware development from zero every time for a new phone? I hope no.

[Q] Baseband Version doesn't matter that much (for me)... right?

Hey guys. I saw a Nexus 4 (16GB). It had the baseband version of "m9615a-cefwmazm-2.0.1700.33"
I live in Pakistan so i have no 3G/4G/LTE (yup we're that backwards!)
This phone couldn't detect my 2G operated SIM Card :/
Where it detects and worked well with my Galaxy SIII
Still haven't bought that Nexus 4 (buying it 2nd hand).
A person confused me in saying that is was a "CDMA PHONE AND IT CAN'T WORK WITH UR GSM SIMs AND ROOTING/MODDING WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS"
Is he telling the truth? This phone was actually a bargain for me and had no problems whatsoever in the Hardware/Software wise other than the above
Can someone please elaborate this? thank you

He is completely wrong. Nexus 4 is GSM only, with no CDMA variant. If your SIII worked, I don't see why the Nexus 4 wouldn't. It appears to be running an older radio firmware, maybe updating it to 4.2.2 would help.

Pretty much this. Try flashing a newer version of the radio.
Maybe your friend was right (backwards, but right). Your carrier might be CDMA. I know there aren't a lot of carriers that use CDMA outside the US, but maybe your carrier is one of the few. I would try updating the radio first before completely giving up on it though. If you can find out whether they are CDMA or not, that'd help decide whether you can use the Nexus 4.
Oh, and "ROOTING/MODDING WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS" is kind of misleading. Yes, technically, flashing new ROMs can affect the signals and stuff, but if you flash a ROM that has had plenty of testing, you'll be fine. Just pick a semi-popular one.

What's the version of android? If it's 4.2.2 the baseband should either be 48 or 54. 33 is an old one.
Does calling work? Or both calls as well as data don't work?
If it's just data you need to make sure data is enabled in settings and also your operators APN is present.

I heard mobilink is selling Nexus 4 in Pakistan. Maybe you can check with them.
Also try posting to the Pakistani thread as you'll get more relevant answers.

Problem with crap service???????

I switched from a T-Mobile GS3 to an unlocked I337 S4. When I got it home I only had E network in my home where as my S3 always had full bars of 4G service. After lots of searching and talking with tmobile I switched sims and thought I would have to resale the phone and buy a tmobile variant. Until I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291589 I now have the same service I had before. If not better. If you are having the same problem this might just be what you are looking for. :victory:
Thank you for doing the research. I wish more were like you.
I have had the phone now for about a week. Finally found the solution. Thanks to the person who posted the post I linked in my first post. It was super simple and I saw immediate results.

LG G2 4g issues

Hello
I have an issue which is quite frustrating I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on how to fix it. So I bought the LG g2 d802 two weeks ago after getting completely tired of my nexus 5s unpredictable battery life. So far I have two or three major concerns
1. Gps issues. I think I may just have to factory reset I've tried all the gps applications etc and can't get it to even lock on
2. This is the issue which is most frustrating. When I purchased the phone and put my sim in I realised 4g wasn't working so I went into settings thinking it's probably switched off but no! It wasn't even marked as an option. So I rang my carrier up and obviously they had no idea. Anyway after searching on xda I used the following: 3845#*802# to go into hidden settings and I managed to switch the 4g on so I was happy. But now Everytime I restart the phone it goes back to H and I have to manually switch on 4g. How do I force 4g to stay switched on after a reboot?
3. The touchscreen is just not as fluid as my nexus 5 I'm putting it down to software more then hardware though..
I know it's more then one issue but I got a bit carried away.. I will appreciate any help or advice.
Thank you
