I have a D803 (Rogers, Canada) running stock KK 4.4.2 rooted (4.2.2 was rooted and I kept it when upgrading to KK).
Now, a new update is available (with, among other goodies, Knock Code).
Phone notifies me an update is ready. I can download it but can't install because the installer stops and displays "root is suspected".
Anyone knows a way to install the update?
Do I have to "unroot" for real or can the installer be tricked into thinking the phone is unrooted (like some sort of temporary unroot).
Thanks!

Have you removed bloat/modified the system(xposed/mods) If so then you have to put everything back to stock
Sent from my LG-D800 running stock kk, rooted with philz using XDA app
I am in the same boat. My phone is rooted and has no bloat but it took the Kit Kat update. Now that the knock code update is out, it won't let me take the update. I get the "suspected of rooting" error message too. Only difference is I am running some Xposed modules.
I disabled my Xposed modules but left everything installed. Rebooted and attempted the update again. Still the same problem.
Then I uninstalled Xposed and all its modules and still the same problem.
If you find out how to take the update, please up date this post so the rest of us know how as well.
Thanks

everything needs to be completely stock so that you can ota, if it gives the suspected of rooting then the only way to ota is to flash a stock kdz via r&d/flash tool and then update
You mean using this thread to flash back to complete stock?

yes that's correct
Updating through the 'LG PC Suite' or 'LGMobile Support Tool' should work though
Yes, except the LG suite wants to flash the Bell version of the ROM and using the KDZ file, I can flash the Rogers version of the ROM.

Have stock with root and exposed and modded camera. Not risking the update. I just tap to install and then when prompted to continue, hit cancel.
Knock code does not offer me anything. So unless there is a good reason to have to re-configure the whole bloody phone ... this update will not be missed.
Hey this is my first post and Im sorry if some of this is a repeat, I looked around for a little bit and wasnt able to find any answers.
I have a note 3 on verizon and i finally got it rooted on MJE. I have SuperSU installed as well as xposed installer as well as wanam xposed and a couple modules. I was trying to update via OTA and it constantly gives me error 402. I have tried hiding superuser and it says on odin? i believe that im on the offical rom and everything.
i just cant get onto kit kat no matter what i do. it downloads and once it tries updating i get the error.
Is there anything im really missing out on with kit kat? I want to install S view all covers and also want the XLTE. thats the main reasons for me wanting to update.
Is there something wrong with my phone? How can i get the update now? Thanks

You need to be unrooted stock to accept the OTA. Currently no way to root the ota. However there is a kitkat build (nc2) that was rooted. This is the build that everyone is working off of, so you can just flash the firmware / nc2 rom and you will be on kitkat rooted.
Thanks for the reply!
I've heard of people still taking the Ota while keeping root by putting supersu on survival mode though. Should I check that off and then click unroot in Supersu to take the Ota? Thanks

You do NOT need to be unrooted, but you do need SuperSU to be in survival mode.

okay so whats seems to be the problem with my note 3 not updating then? Im pretty much lost haha. It reboots into recovery and then goes about 33% on updating before getting a error and restarting.

Have you ever installed safestrap or anything similar?
Also remove all xposed modules, etc.

Try installing just the nc4 radio for xlte. Have you tried the leaked NC2 KK? I'd stay rooted personally ... samsung stuff has too much bloat and will run like a pig.

Nope I just I have supersu. I disabled superuser and then I Uninstaller all the modules. I also uninstalled the framework for xposed. Is there anything else that could be causing it?

not that I know of.
You may have to reflash MJE and reroot it.

Hey everyone, I'm fairly new here but I have a Samsung S4 SGH-I337 running kitkat 4.4.4 from AT&T.
I recently rooted my s4 with towelroot and everything went okay, but now I'm trying to find a way to turn SELinux from enforcing to permissive. I've tried the SElinux mode changer and wanam xposed but both of them weren't able to switch SElinux to permissive. Most of the threads I read said I should find a new kernel with the SELinux set to permissive but all the kernels I've found so far are for kitkat 4.4.2 or jellybean 4.3
Also liked I said, I'm pretty new to this thing and I wanted to know would the kernels for the t-mobile sprint and global s4 work on my AT&T model? I looked them up and it does seem they have different model numbers so I don't want to try flashing it just to end up bricking my phone.
I'm trying to get my phone to mirror with my AppRadio3 through chromecast. I've gotten it to mirror and everything works except for touch, which I'm thinking is due to SElinux being set to enforcing. If anybody could help I would greatly appreciate it!

The 4.4.4 nj4 kernel is not able to be rooted and also does not work with selinux changers.

Ah I didn't know the kernel couldn't be rooted. I followed the instructions from droidviews to root my phone but if I can't do anything with the kernel then it looks like I'm out of luck
Is there any way to downgrade my s4 from kitkat 4.4.4 to something else like kitkat 4.3 or jellybean 4.2? I've seen some tutorials on how to downgrade from 4.4.2 to jellybean, but I haven't been able to find a tutorial on how to downgrade from 4.4.4

Yes check the general thread regarding Odin to stock. I downgraded to nb1 but some people care about tethering. Not sure which one allows tethering.

Oh okay, I'll go read up on that before trying to downgrade my phone. I used odin in one of the steps to root my phone but its probably a whole different process to downgrade it. Also thanks for your fast replies, you've been really helpful I really appreciate it!
Long time lurker... here goes my first post, be gentle!
I bought my s5 and rooted it a long time ago but I haven't kept up it up to date. I'm still on 4.4.2 and I think it is finally time to try 5.0
Since I'm so out of date, I want to make sure I update my phone without bricking it or losing xposed framework.
My current device's system info:
Andriod Version: 4.4.2
Build: ANCG
Kernal: 3.4.0-964333
Bootloader: G900VVRU1ANCG
Rooted
Stock ROM
Safestrap NOT installed
Xposed framework installed with these modules:
Greenify
Xprivacy
Wanam Xposed
Downloads 2SD
With such an out of date phone, is it safe to just follow the instructions in this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...w-to-update-to-g900voe1-5-0-keeproot-t3149784
Are there any known issues on Lollipop with xposed or any of the modules I use?
I think lollipop allows apps to access the SD card again, so I won't need the downloads 2SD module anymore, right?
I have read mixed reports of Xprivacy working on 5.0, if there is anyone using it on the Verizon S5, how's it working for you?
Thanks!

If you decide to go to lollipop any thing over bod5 cannot be rooted there are some decent roms that are flashable
roms via safestrap.

But why is rooted bod5 lollipop bad? Besides not being able to upgrade to newer versions of lollipop, did you have a bad experience with bod5?
I'm ok with not being able to upgrade further. I stayed with 4.4.2 for a long time, I have no problem staying on bod5 for awhile.. Unless there are other good reasons why lollipop Itself is not worth upgrading to.

Bog5 is the latest now I guess it was to fix stage fright but you could choose the one to your liking not much development for bod5 anymore.

You can install rooted OG5 roms. I'm running a stock deodexed OG5 build (rooted) and it's pretty smooth.
With such an out of date phone, is it safe to just follow the instructions in this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/veri...proot-t3149784
If you want xposed on OG5, no. It needs a deodexed rom and that OG5 is odexed. You can use this one if you want xposed on OG5: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/vzwstock-based-tw-rom-t3178953
Are there any known issues on Lollipop with xposed or any of the modules I use?
Xposed runs but it needs a special version (just do a google search for samsung xposed lollipop). Whenever I run greenify on xposed it causes bootloops for me, but I think it might work fine for some people. Wanam xposed has a special version for lollipop so make sure to switch to that.
I think lollipop allows apps to access the SD card again, so I won't need the downloads 2SD module anymore, right?
I don't think you need it, but when you install check to see if it works. You can always downgrade.
I have read mixed reports of Xprivacy working on 5.0, if there is anyone using it on the Verizon S5, how's it working for you?
It worked for me when I ran it a few months ago, but if the reports are mixed take my success with a grain of salt.

Thank you for actually answering my questions!!
I will attempt OG5 using a deodexed version so I can install the samsung lollipop xposed. Hope I don't screw it up :-/ I've rooted and played around with a few phones before with no problems, but the last time I messed with a phone was over a year ago so I'm pretty rusty.
cheers!
edit: To use the deodexed version of OG5, did you use the muniz_ri method with FireFlash and just replace the muniz_ri ROM with the deodexed ROM? Or did you follow the instructions in this thread? Or something completly different?
Btw I'm still on 4.4.2 NCG but I have installed SS
Since you are at NCG already I think you can start with rooted odex stock. You should flash muniz_ri rooted odex stock with flashfire, it ll full wipe for default also. After that you 100% can flash any G900V lollipop rom you want with flashfire or safestrap, I choosed FF for myself. I am not sure, maybe you can flash deodex right away, but after some lurked and questions I personally did as described in first sentence. Don't forget to do backup, samsung for example. I was in your position not so much time ago.
i second that lollipop is terrible. go to 4.4.4 and stay. look in page 2 or 3 of android development for ricks rom and flash that, its the best kitkat rom and it just work way better than 5.0
Ok maybe i'm missing something basic, but i cant find a way to flash xposed on the (odexed)stock rom?
how is it possible to get xposed working?
is the simplest way to simply flash a rom with support? if so, is there a stock based one? if so, can i dirty flash and get to keep all my data?
or do i need to flash cm or someother such?
yes, im one of THOSE. i like tw. not as much as xposed tho lol
P.S glad to join the s5 club! my first flagship phone out of 6 androids since 2014
There is no Xposed for odex stock based roms. And most likely will never be. You need deodex rom to make it work on stock.
Ruffbuster is correct.....xposed isn't available as standard for stock touchwiz lollipop. There is a modified installer floating around somewhere here on XDA which has had *some* success with LP_TWz......
However, xposed DOES work with KitKat TWz.....
That is one of the reasons I currently refuse to upgrade to LP......Like you, I like my xposed tweaks.....
