This isn't my post but I have very same problem and thought i'd bring it to this thread see if anyone happens to have same issue or has solution?
Hi guys,
I've been trying out different android builds but after a while it won't boot in android anymore.
I run the CLRAD and HaReT, it show the command lines and then freezes on the HTC screen.
It is not the first time I'm launching it, everything is allways set up the way I like it and then I want to reboot a final time and it freezes. (first boot only takes 10 min.) Then I have to take out the battery to reset, but everytime after it freezes, tried waiting for +1 hour but no changes.
When I delete all the android files from my SD card and copy the original ones it restarts again and I have to setup everything again.
I tried new wm roms (Miri HD2 wm6.5.x) different radios (now 2.12.50.02.2),
the new HSPL3 but nothing seems to solve this.
edit: now I'm trying to use the mdeejay froyo HD v3.7 rom
I've searched the forum and other users seem to have the same problem, but no solutions have come forward. The people replying allways seem to think it is the first boot that takes 10 min. but it's not that. First boot works fine.

What builds have you tried? What memory card are you using (class and size)?Did you format your memory card to FAT32? You could also try deleting app data folder on your storage card, as each time you use a build a bit of it may be left in this folder( it does no harm and will re-create itself straight after). Have you tried any android boot loaders e.g MSKIP android loader v5. No-one else had replied so thought id try and share what little knowledge i have. If you have been asked all this 20 times over, Sorry!
I am using 8gb mem card came with htc Fat32 (formated it using win and htc both)
Win build is dutty's com2 3.14 latest rom
Mdeejay 2.3 Revolution android version.
had jmz's bootloder
Tried everything u said nothing happened...
Trying now MSKIP's boot loader, with fresh installation lets see...
Ur effort time and help is always appreciated thanks Funkdat
maybe because OS's weren't designed to run on a SD card??? Sell your hd2 and get a galaxy s phone.
I feel your pain. Very very frustrating and you feel you have tried everything. Time consuming too.
What bothers me a bit with those builds is that they load up the HTC logo so actually don't see what is happening during bootup. I wonder if you couldn't bypass that?
that wud have been big help if i could see what is actually happening but the Big HTC Logo screen is hiding everything and i am just sick of it.
Well if i could only burn the ROM into HD2 that would have been much better so wouldn't have to worry about anything i have to format my storage card every time or either delete everything on the sd card to make it work duno which file is it causing this error but i hope some one will come up with solution...
CHeers
still the same tried everything...
Hi there,
You do understand that the HD2 was not made nor meant to run Android and that all the Android ROM's are third party ones and unofficial ?
You did not say whether or not you tried to install on the internal memory and not the card ?
Bye,
Itamar

Oh the contradiction. You say that, yet you use it too
"Android Playground: HyperDroid 1.6"
You gonna sell your HD2? (now for the crickets )
This might seem stupid, but have you tried deleting the Android folder from your SD card? Or modify this line in startup.txt:
set cmdline "rel_path=Android"
to
set cmdline "rel_path=/"
The problem might be that because of rel_path, it's looking for your android ROM in the "Android" folder. And some applications create that folder (Google goggle for example) to save information. I had an issue quite similar to yours. Now editing startup.txt is the first thing I do in a build. I currently have 5 different builds, one for every day of the week! haha.
Hope this helps!

not at all. I actually rarely boot into android and when I do, I keep my android builds on a seperate sd card. But I'm also not on here starting threads complaining that android won't boot properly on my winmo phone.
That's why its my playground. I am not trying to make android my daily driver.

Well that's true. Android isn't really that stable enough to run often - especially when I see that it sucks down 500mA of power. That leads to 2 hours of battery.
(speaking of separate SD cards, I still have to send my faulty 16GB back to HTC )
Hi!
I just passed to an android nand rom, before i had android from sd. It was very simple for me to install apps, i just passed the files .apk to the folder Android Apps in the folder of Android Sd and when i reeboted the phone the app was installed.
Now my question is, i have nand android and tried to place an .apk app in the root of the sd, reeboted, and nothing was installed.
I tried to search for an answer but nothing, can somebody please explain me how to install apps in this nand version?
And also.... how can i remove boot sound? i cannot enter in recovery mode... in the sd version i had the option to reebot in it by holding the power button (but really never worked), and now in nand version i have only the option to Reebot, Shutdown, or Put in silent mode.
Thanks!
Hmm..are you talking about installing typical apps or some special apps? cause for most of apps you can install them as simply as coping the .apk file to your SD or even download them directly from the web to your SD,then browse to where you copied/downloaded them using your file manager and simply click on the app to install it,or there is the hard way by using 'adb' and the command " install -s yourappname.apk".About that recovery issue, you can't access recovery mode from the power menu on HD2 android, however we do have a working recovery image in some other way,so you might wanna do some reading HERE first. Hope i helped or even understood you correctly,if you need more help just be more specific and i'll be glad to help you further.Cheers!

hi, i'm really glad you answered and i thank you..
my problem now is.. i don't have a file manager because i cannot install this famous apps like i did in the past with sd version. Usually i placed the apk file in AndroidApps and the app whas installed in automatic when i reeboted. Now in this nand version i don't have this folder and in rom i don't have a file manager... (still i don't understand why android doesn't have one in stock like wm had).... and so i cannot install nothing... i neither cannot access to phone storage because if i select the option when i connect the phone to connect with Htc Sync the phone gets stuck searching for Htc Sync in my computer... I don't know which is the solution now and i don't understand why nobody in forum speaks about this problem i have.
Thanks!

It's not really a problem, dude. simply go to market and install ANY file manager you like then you would be able to do whatever you want,i would recommend 'esfile manager' it nice one and works almost with every build. You can also do it using 'adb' on your pc.
"(still i don't understand why android doesn't have one in stock like wm had)"<--That will always be a wonder to me,it seems kinds stupid not to add it,maybe they depend on you to access market and get one yourself.
thanks
ok, thankyou mate. in all cases i'll try to flash another rom with the ClockworkMod Recovery, i've seen the video and it seems a very good program, also because of the backup and restore option, i really like it.
Ight, just make sure you are downloading a rom with the '.zip' format for clockwork not any nand build, not all of them are packed into '.zip' at least not yet.Glad i could help.

last question
a last question, i've seen that if i pass from a daf rom to a zip rom it's better if i whipe the system before flashing, maybe not wiping can cause issues, you know how to?
thanks
Sure, after you install clockwork you will find an option inside it's sub menu 'called wipe...something something' don't really recall, but it's there you will find all the instructions for clockwork in the thread for it.

I am Soooo Sick of re-installing Nand Roms ..
Try this .. nope it sucks .. try this .. nope that sucks ..
Flash back and reinstall everything! ( Hits Head On Desk~! )
So I am Asking for your help!
There Needs to be a way to backup the entire nand rom!
( Not Just The Programs - And Data )
So you can try different roms .. and go-back to one that kinda works! lol
( have tried sooo many that I wanna kill myself! - No I am No Kidding! )
I can not tell you how many times I have got a rom working 98% and
then install something .. or change just ONE setting ..
And BOOOOM .. It Doesnt work right ever again!
Dam ClockWork Is Freaking Crazy Hard ..
Or I am Way To Stupid to do it .. And If I am How Many Others?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898913
Partion This .. Do that .. Nope that doesn't work .. try this .. nope~!
( Have you seen All the problems in the forms? )
There has to be an EASY WAY TO BACKUP!
And Yes I Have Tried .. My Backup and Titanium Backup They SUCK!
They Do Not Work Well .. And Do Not Backup All Settings And Files!
( Yes I know They Say They Do .. No They Don't )
+ You Cant use them on different roms .. Screws Things Up .. I Know I Have Tried!
We Need something very simple ..
Just like how DFT Team made it with MAGLDR 1.11
SIMPLE - Easy - Works Every Freaking Time!!
Something that makes (1) Img file that gets copied to the SD Card!
No Partions Ect. Crap .. Then you could just Flash it back
I am Looking for a Complete NAND Memory Backup Program more like ..
Acronis or Ghost That Does an Image of the complete Nand Memory.
Something Universal .. would not matter if you use NAND or ZIP Or > Whatever comes next! to install Android
I figure .. If we can backup using "clockwork" maybe it could not be that hard
to make a program .. that will Image the Nand from Sec. 0 - 99999.
I am trying to express my feelings and MANY others I have seen in other threads.
That we need a SIMPLE.. way to backup the ENTIRE NAND And Do A Restore.
Maybe a VERY Striped Down Ver Of Clockwork Of Some Type ..
And I Would Hit The DONATE Button ..
So Freaking Fast It Would Make Your Head Spin!
And I Am Sure MANY Others Would to!
I Am Hoping A DEV Or Someone WAY Smarter then All Of Us Will Make
A Program That Will Do this .. Thats What This Thread Is About ..
HELP! PLEASE HELP! OMG PLEASE ..
Before I Kill Myself! The Wife And Kids A Depending on you!
I don't see the difficulty of installing CWM, it's descripted nicely:
For new user;
1. download one of the partition files, if you don't know which one you need, use the 250M one or check with rom developer.
2. Extract downloaded zip to a folder of your choice
3. Copy contents of copy_to_sd_root (initrd.gz and zImage) to the root of your sd card
4. boot into magldr and select USB Flasher option while phone is connected to PC
5. Run DAF.exe included in the zip and follow onscreen instructions.
6. After complete, again boot into magldr and select "Boot AD SD" option
7. ClockworkMod recovery should load, you can flash a rom from here.
Click to collapse
Inside CWM, do a Nandroid backup and you're good.
Oh and Titanium backup works very well, you probably just don't know how to use it properly. Also, not all settings can be easily recovered among different ROMs, because, you know, the ROMs are different.
I haven't got time to follow every single [Tutorial] thread in here,
so don't know if there is a solution to back-up everything into 1 file (similar to *.ghost back-up file in Window).
Thus, +1 with the demand of WarLockW above

Right .. you can not .. use the settings .. Not thats the point of this ..
The Point is we need a easy way to backup CURRENT ROM .. and restore it.
Without having to do 1000 things that may or may not work.

But Again .. I am dumb .. and may others are too ..
We Need a SIMPLE Way to back up these dam roms ..
That works 99-100% of the time .. and dont have to worry is this rom compatible with this partion ect.
MAGLDR 1.11 works 100% and is easy!
Thats all I am Saying .. SIMPLE Being the key word~!
Imagine a backup inside of MAGLDR. That would be great. I want to try different ROM's but like you, find CWM too confusing. Even if I do back up a ROM using CWM where does it save? And how do I restore it if the ROM I flashed isn't to my liking? Does the whole ROM be in the file or just your data, apps, settings etc?

Yeah, I don't really see any tool backing up a future or old ROM, cause you know, that's not possible. Nandroid is really just 1 thing, and it always works.
1. download one of the partition files, if you don't know which one you need, use the 250M one or check with rom developer.
( Were does that go ? And Why Do you need it ? - What One Do I Need ? - Again Hmmm .. )

Where that goes is explained in step 3. Patience, young padawan. Which one you need is pointed out too: 250M, unless your rom dev told you to do otherwise. Having problems reading?
Why you need it? Because it's a necessary file, obviously. If you wouldn't need it, you wouldn't have to download it. I don't think you're after some technical in-depth analysis either, so just do as you're told. Easy, right?
2. Extract downloaded zip to a folder of your choice
3. Copy contents of copy_to_sd_root (initrd.gz and zImage) to the root of your sd card
4. boot into magldr and select USB Flasher option while phone is connected to PC

Surprisingly, DAF.exe is in the zip file you just downloaded. Why do you need to do it? You're installing something here ffs, do you expect to magically install CWM without doing anything?
Yes it does, that's also mentioned in the thread.

me too...finally i give up from installing CWR 1.2 and went for the CWR 1.0 and every thing went alright.
I am a noob and have been able to convert my HTC HD2 to android on two occasions. My third attempt has been the most challenging. Im trying to install MccMBoxmaX Transformer SS V4.5 Gingerbread 2.3.3[Sense 3.0] IN 3D and have tried EVERYTHING. Every thread that I can find, every way that has been explained and cannot get this one installed. My phone at this point boots into MAGLDR then reads sd kernel open failed. I updated to Tytung r5 and that did not work. I have been able to work through everything else to get android on my HTC through threads from XDA and it's been more than worth it. Please help.
Are you installing on sd or NAND ?
Never mind, it's an sd build. Anyway, since Im currently using cLK and booting from nand Im not really sure where it is at but you are supposed to set the directory of your android build (where the zimage stays). I think it's in option "10.Services" in magldr .. set the dir and try again.
Could you please explain further "set the directory of your android build (where the zimage stays). " TY
Surely you could just reset through stock Windows 6.5 (there are many guides), then boot it up via clrcad and haret? Or use an automatic build loader?
Also, if after this you still have trouble booting, change the WinMo rom. I'm using OZDroid, which is plain Windows 6.1 (I think, TBH I couldn't care less) with a dualboot app built in to the ROM.
i had this problem a few times before, "sd kernel open failed" is in red writing correct? sorry to say im not sure what caused it but i can tell you what worked for me to fix the problem.
1st i re-installed MAGDLR, 2nd i re-partitioned my phone to the correct specs the ROM i was using suggested, & last i re-downloaded the ROM and placed it on my sd card.
i know this seems like a lot of work but its the only thing i've come across thats worked every time. i've had to do this twice now. if you ever find out the cause i'd like to know & if i find out whats causing it i'll let you know as well.
Much thanks. Exactly what I ended up doing and works fantastic!

Hello,
This is Sree Chandra and i am new to this forum.I came to know about this by one of my cousins saying that xda is the best forum for Android.
Coming to the issue,i use Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360...With the Kies PC suite ive updated my firmware.
So after visiting the forum i came to know that i can upgrade my mobile to ICS. Ive gone through the process of upgrading my mobile to ICS-JEALLY BEAN V3 bla bla.
While installing firstly through Clock Work Mode the cache and dalvick cache are not formatting as the error message displayed on mobile is E./: Error can't mount sd card..
Actually my 8GB sd card was partitioned and gave 1GB to internal memory.By connecting to PC ive formatted the 2nd partition through mini tool wizard.Even though the partition was formatted i get the error message while installing.
My mobile was running very fast on ICS :good:than the stock version of Android 2.3.6 given by samsung. But there was a problem while opening the Clock App for setting alarm. While setting alarm timing suddenly the app closes and shows error report to force close.
Please, give me the answer so that i will re-install the JEALLY BEAN V3.
Thank you..
to make the answers very short:
there is no existing, working, stock ICS for SGY, you must be on a custom rom based on gingerbread themed like ICS,
kies and samsung will never update SGY to ICS since this is an entry-level phone,
No ICS (as of yet)..
Thank you very much for immediate reply...
But suggest me if there exist any methods to solve my problem..

so let me re-iterate,
its 7gb for fat32 data, and 1gb for internal memory (ext=?)
you have installation errors while accessing CWM?
you have any ideas of what version of CWM you are using and from what source,
thanks for cooperating,

yeaaa 1GB is ext2 file system....
couldn't exactly say CWM version...
but i followed this link "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679563" for installation..
Actually by the above link only i came to know about CWM..
one thing that might help you: from what you said above you seem to on custom rom jelly blast v3 and the alarm bug you mentioned did exist in original jelly blast v3 but its been fixed in subsequent versions 3.0.1/2/3 of the rom ! so I'd suggest you to flash ota1,2&3 in order to resolve it!

so you are on a custom rom "Jellyblast v3"
anyways,
try this CWM: http://db.tt/sIzhV4JP
and report if it still does not work,
and by the way the option Mounts and Storage>Mount USB Storage does not work in any CWM version,
you can also install a permanent CWM with savie's kernel (which i personally recommend) since i'm using it right now and is very fast,
follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1761166

You don't have to go to your pro mode bro:thumbup:
@OP.. Also which kernel were you using when you got error? If it is stock.. that might be problem.. mini tool gives some times this problem.. use in built cwm partition / es data partition manager. I have used it to partition my 2 cards. And I don't face any problem till date.. just backup your data in sdcard if you want to attempt partitioning again..
