Thought u guys should see this video of cm9 ics on note... the developers hav done a very good job porting it for us..only a few things not working. Camera being the main one not working.. but it still looks smooth..fingers crossed
I am not sure but I am thinking that samsung will support us with stock ICS due to end of January and then we all can start with developing custom roms, the only thing is that we need a stock kernel for ics
but it looks very fast and smooth
Nice Video, Thanks for Sharing

i agree there, but i think stock ICS may come a little later.
one of the main reasons why im waiting for the samsung official version is because it comes with kernel 3.x (according to the leaks) whereas most of these modded versions are still using kernel 2.6.57.
Would be cool to run IOS4.2.1 on the Note, best and fastest OS for phones yet. Is this even possible since u can run MacOS on PCs now ? )

debating whether it's a good idea to flash CM9 or not for the gnote, even when it's in beta or stable build.
A lot of cool features in the note are build on touchwiz interface, and with CM9 i am not sure how good the support for the s-pen will be. But again... what's fun with an android if you cant flash the crap out of it

I think i'm in love with Touchwiz. I can't live without S-Memo, the brilliant video player, the camera interface, the excellent hardware-accelerated browser and the toggles in the notification bar.
That's why I'm moving back to KL7 from CM9.

Anybody else happy to see Imilka is back to G. Note development?
I've been using his CM9 (discontinued) rom on my Note from the very first day he published it. I didn't even consider changing it even though development for it was stopped
I was thrilled to see him back yesterday with his PARANOIDANDROID ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662802
What are your experiences with his ROMS? Have you tried ParanoidAndroid?

I've been a fan of him and his great work since his first ROM for the note. Flashed all versions of his ROMS and most were very stable.
He is a very helpful guy and I have huge respect for him for being friendly and nice and patient with everyone.
About his latest work, ParanoidAndroid it's an amazing effort to bring one of the best ideas out there to our device. I'm running it on my phone and I have to say the experience is great. This will just continue in the next versions being worked on and I'm very excited for the future development of this ROM.

The only troubles he mentions are:
Camera options looks cutted when "hide navbar" is enabled
Keyboard popup layout looks a bit weird, this will be fixed soon
Swap camera not working on tab mode, workaround is to press menu key, and then switch camera.
His CM9 ROM had working cameras and hardly any bugs!

His new rom is mind boggling - speed, no FCs and the look and feel of the rom is amazing. I am loving the per app dpi that these guys have incorporated into the rom.
Only grouse - why is this not Samsung Official Rom. This Rom is what should have been the original Samsung ROM for NOTE. Our Note begs for this kind of a rom.

Cam works great on my end.
Calls work except fot the mic getting muted when on speakerphone.
USB OTG doesn't work yet but it's in the devs' to do list.
Mass Storage works but you'll need this app to activate it (extract it and install the APK). otherwise you'll be usig MTP which is fine with me.

You also get an icon in the drawer in case you can't see the notification bar icon.

Galaxy Note N7000 - PARANOID ANDROID (CM9)
Receiving a used Xoom soon and was reading many many forums on Xoom roms and want to see what people are using. I would like ICS of course, not really concerned with overclocking. I run AOKP on my Galaxy Nexus and never have looked back. But not sure the best route for the Xoom.. I know ROMS are personal preference but still want to get an idea to see who's leading the pack and packing most of the latest features and addons.
Sorry if I missed any roms.

To be honest, most people use EoS, I think.
However since a couple of weeks there has been a huge battery sucker in it
CM is also one of the most popular roms, but I prefer EOS or the Bugless Beast ROM.
However the latter has come to a standstill due to some personal issues of the developer, still: it runs amazingly smooth without need to over clock!
All the other roms are okay, I guess, but I can't help you with those
Just my two cents ;-)

Thats what I run on my GNex too but didnt see many posts on the Xoom so wasnt sure if it was up to par as the GNex version.
AOKP has been my daily on the Xoom for a month or two now, runs like a dream.
I have been running AOKP on my XOOM for some time now. I really like all the extra features. However, I think that what the Xoom really lacks in development is a Kernel. I have been spoiled with Faux123 on my Galaxy Nexus. But the kernels I have been using on the XOOM have been outdated. Anyone have a kernel recommendation?

AOKP ships with stock kernel right? EOS and Rogue are usually on top of keeping their kernels up to date. EOS kernel is tiamat and there's a thread somewhere around here for it and Rogue.
Edit: Better yet get this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.s0up.goomanager
Its GooMamager. Browse files and under kernels there's are a ton that claim "Compatibility". I think the ICS kernel is very unified. Goomanager will also notify you when your ROM is updated, and as long as you have an open script recovery, Goo will download the Update and make a backup in Recovery (with rename prior to backup) wipe/wipe cache and install new update then reboot almost like an ota. So easy now. Also notifies when gapps updates. I guess its the new ROM Manager.
Anyways at the bottom of the kernel list is Rogue with what looks like an up to date kernel.

Yes. As far as I know, mz505 can be rooted. But these roms were not tested with it.
You can still root it. Also try to flash the rom of mz604 on it from team EOS since it is wifi only. Might work. Or just enjoy a rooted device.

My limited knowledge of Paranoid Android leads me to ask - why do you want it on the Tf?
Isn't it designed to give a tablet like experience on phones?
As well made as it is, I wasn't overly keen on the whole tiny u.i on my sgs2.
Otherwise I'm not sure what we would be missing out on.
Application-specific DPI settings would make me one happy panda.

Yes - dock is supported... Well, at least it was working for me last night... Don't have a large SD card to test on it, but it should work (as i'm using the same device tree as others)...
As stated earlier, this is my first proper build (running a CM10 build on my phone, not released though). It would be nice to get others to help, at the moment, ADB doesn't work, everything I have tested is working, including Paranoid Settings... None of my builds seems to have ADB, so i do need to look into that!

I don't think any iPhone is in the works for omni at the moment
I felt what was missing was a team to implement ideas that have never been imagined by the average person, or have been thought of as to be "too difficult" to implement.
I feel this rom, and the team behind it, is the answer to this problem, which should open doors up in other teams, including cyanogenmod
And thanks

It WOULD be a feat to crack the iPhone's bootloader past the iPhone 3G and get Android booting on there, wouldn't it..?
So, the OmniROM will not just be another copy of another custom ROM? Now that it's being mentioned, I do feel like a lot of them just have the same features.Maybe that's why I'm not fully satisfied when I habitually flash new ROMS.

I work with someone who builds for the iPhone. I might get them to add omni support for it.
Omni is based on aosp (the stock source from google). From their patches are added to support an array of devices. Then new features are added. Seeing as it's a fairly new project (only been around 2 months), there aren't a lot of new features, however there are a few ones to note
They are adding true multi window support
The quick settings tiles are flipable
There see, so to be a new app called "OmniGears". I'm unsure about what exactly this will do, but it seems to contain rom specific settings
I hope this is enough to convince you this won't be a "copy of another rom"

I know, its gonna look awesome on my n4! I only hope its just not the great features, but also has a variety of flashable tweaks/mods/themes so we can really say this rom is one of a kind!
