Receiving a used Xoom soon and was reading many many forums on Xoom roms and want to see what people are using. I would like ICS of course, not really concerned with overclocking. I run AOKP on my Galaxy Nexus and never have looked back. But not sure the best route for the Xoom.. I know ROMS are personal preference but still want to get an idea to see who's leading the pack and packing most of the latest features and addons.
Sorry if I missed any roms.
Thanks Guys

To be honest, most people use EoS, I think.
However since a couple of weeks there has been a huge battery sucker in it
CM is also one of the most popular roms, but I prefer EOS or the Bugless Beast ROM.
However the latter has come to a standstill due to some personal issues of the developer, still: it runs amazingly smooth without need to over clock!
All the other roms are okay, I guess, but I can't help you with those
Just my two cents ;-)

Thats what I run on my GNex too but didnt see many posts on the Xoom so wasnt sure if it was up to par as the GNex version.
AOKP has been my daily on the Xoom for a month or two now, runs like a dream.
I have been running AOKP on my XOOM for some time now. I really like all the extra features. However, I think that what the Xoom really lacks in development is a Kernel. I have been spoiled with Faux123 on my Galaxy Nexus. But the kernels I have been using on the XOOM have been outdated. Anyone have a kernel recommendation?

AOKP ships with stock kernel right? EOS and Rogue are usually on top of keeping their kernels up to date. EOS kernel is tiamat and there's a thread somewhere around here for it and Rogue.
Edit: Better yet get this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.s0up.goomanager
Its GooMamager. Browse files and under kernels there's are a ton that claim "Compatibility". I think the ICS kernel is very unified. Goomanager will also notify you when your ROM is updated, and as long as you have an open script recovery, Goo will download the Update and make a backup in Recovery (with rename prior to backup) wipe/wipe cache and install new update then reboot almost like an ota. So easy now. Also notifies when gapps updates. I guess its the new ROM Manager.
Anyways at the bottom of the kernel list is Rogue with what looks like an up to date kernel.

Yes. As far as I know, mz505 can be rooted. But these roms were not tested with it.
You can still root it. Also try to flash the rom of mz604 on it from team EOS since it is wifi only. Might work. Or just enjoy a rooted device.

well your best bet to learn about them... is to read about them. every ROM has a huge list of features and screenshots. do the homework and make your choice that way.
This thread I believe has all but one of the ROMs available for the Atrix listed in it if you scroll down, it's near the bottom, then you can go through each thread, look at screen shots, requirements to flash, etc. When I was trying to decide which ROM to flash first I used this thread as a guide, kept it open in one tab and opened the threads for each individual ROM in another tab.

OP: Alien seems pretty good to me. Snappier than stock, been stable for me... I am personally waiting for a touch more polish before putting CM7 on my daily driver.

I agree that Alien is a great ROM (I'm using it), but it's not a Vanilla ROM as the OP has asked for, and it's not as de-blurred as, say, Ninja or something. I dunno how usable Ninja is now, as Sam had to temporarily leave it for CM work...
@OP, you could surely flash the CM7 pre-beta, as it's quite stable. The only major thing that doesn't work as of now is the Camera, I believe...

Thor, but that's not on the list.
I personally liked THOR, but there were a few things left out since its not Acer stock ROM (such as hardware screen rotation lock).
I'm using lightspeed now and I would have to say I like it the most because it removed every bit of bloat the stock Acer had.

All the Thor comments seem to be positive, so I installed it, and it is pretty awesome!
Link for Thor
Rooted and installed my first rom yesterday. It was thor's. If i hadn't killed my battery in the process of installing/re-installing/re-re-installing (had issues w/ wifi and sd storage), i wouldn't have gotten any actual work done while on night shift. From what I did get to play around with, it was much snappier than stock, and allowed me to tether to my phone's data via bluetooth without any 3rd party apps. So not only did I become an instant fan of thor's, but I also might actually start watching Breaking Bad (streamed the first ep on netflix). lol
Here is a link to the ics update for the motorola xoom.

And you owe me personally, about well, a lot of beers. And not just any beer mind you, but I like really expensive beer
In fact, if one would calculate 12 beers per day @.5L per beer since the time he got HW Accel working, No green screens, and 85% of all functions working, you owe me about 457 beers, give or take. But I'm not greedy. I'll settle for an even 400 x.5L.
The Pure ICS rom 4.x, runs damn good. Only 3 or 4 things left. Most people are using it as a daily driver.
But now, "Iced" cube, if you don't come through with your wager, on open terms as you set, Well... that would be considered "welching" on a bet.
Welp, there goes my weekly wage...

Welcome back
Don't think you have to wait long for an official Samsung ICS, but if you can't wait take a look at this:
http://www.youmobile.org/blogs/entry/New-Android-4-0-3-ROM-leak-by-Samsung-for-Galaxy-S-II-I9100XXLP2-Download-Screenshots-Video-
Welcome on "our side". ;-)
As for the roms, well, here is a quick-start-guide:
1. Full TouchWiz-based ROM's like lightning and checkrom.
2. TouchWiz-based ROM's with less preinstalled apps like gingermod.
3. CyanogenMod 7 for gingerbread and 9 for ice cream sandwich
4. MIUI for a totally redefined UI.
I had them all and liked them all. There were just some that I liked more than others, and before I give you a biased tip, I'd say that you should try all out by yourself.
Installing custom-roms is a piece of cake on that device.
Have fun!

Most basic stock, intratechs thread all stock roms and kernel odexed versions.
Looking to root or maintain a stock kernel with root, busybox etc CF Root by Chainfire.
Looking for a stock like kernel, with tweaks and good performance and battery checkout SpeedMod or Phenomenal which is based on Speedmod.
If you like tinkering with kernels then Phoenix, NEAK and SiyahKernel all very popular and can adjust them in many ways for your liking.
Most of all enjoy, you'll soon start flashing and testing out various things.

Only official kernels work with any ics rom. No custom kernels until kernel source is released by Sammy.
As for rom/kernel combos, I got the best battery out of cm7+siyah kernel after undervolting and stuff. Cm9 is just too good to pass up. Still getting a full day, but not 20ish hours heavy use like I did with cm7.
As far as I know all gb kernels work for all gb roms, but I would check each one. The difference is Samsung based or cm7 based(miui)

Usually, (for other devices of course), ICS roms that are developed from AOSP tend to be more stable, less buggy and better than CM9 roms, so im kind of curious why Atrix developers have decided to work on CM9, even thought its far from complete?
Just a question.

NVidia won't release the drivers and sources required to accomplish this, so a 1/2 ass port is all that can be done at the moment. This has nothing to do with the devs. They are giving us the best they can with what they have right now.

Not saying that they arent working hard, just asking why they choosing CM9 instead of AOSP 4.0, just a simple question. And ponting out that builds based on AOSP seems to be more solid and stable than builds based on CM9, mostly because CM9 itself its still not from complete

Also, IIRC, they're borrowing heavily from CM7 for our current CM9 builds. I believe we'll see more options when we finally get official source and drivers in Q3.

Please read the above before commenting again! If you had read it the first time you would not have posted what you did below!.............Or maybe you still would have, who knows!!! You can program all you want for an AOSP ROM, but without device specific drivers you can never optimize for any one device. Simple as this, for any ICS on the Atrix, whether AOSP, CM9, MIUI, or whatever, you still need device drivers. Try running your NVidia graphics card in your computer without a driver................yeah, see what I mean (but then again you might like 640 x 480!)!

Woops, i forgot to tell that i was refering to other devices AOSP 4.0 ROMS, but if you are as inteligent as you seems to be, you should have known that because the Atrix actually doesn't have any rom coded from AOPS 4.0, at least on this forum.
The roms i was refering to was ICS Passion and ICS Euforia, both made by the same developer, Neobuddy, made for the Samsung Vibrant, a 1ghz phone, with 512mb for ram, without official drivrrs released, and the rom is more stable than the current Atrix ICS builds (no offend, i recongnize the guys are doing a great job making it happen), and almost as smooth as a the builds, and that phone is in a similar condition driver-related, that its, without any drivers being released. Thats why my doubt came, why the developers chiosed CM9 as a base, even thought it isnt really stable yet, and not completed, and why builds made from AOSP 4.0 tend to be more stable?

And that's why I asked you to link them. You are comparing AOSP ROM's on other devices to CM9 on other devices. Because you see something run more smoothly on one device, does not directly mean it will run smoothly on another device. In any event, your question was answered in as far as there are drivers and source that the devs do not have in order to make any ICS based ROM's work optimally on the Atrix. If I had to hazard a guess as to why the devs are using CM9 as a base, it would be because the groundwork has been laid for them. The Atrix doesn't have an army of devs, so we get a smaller mix of options with ROM's.

The OP was asking why the Atrix doesn't have AOSP ROM's.. so you.. ask him to link them?

I kind of think I get what the OP is asking. He's asking why build a really souped up race car where as a regular car is just as fine. Seems like he's not picky and he would be content with anything stable vs anything available now. But that's another thread isn't it?
