Hey, i got the s4 from my work place about 3 weeks ago.
At first i started having issues with random shut downs, after 2 weeks of frustration i went ahead and got a new replacement.
Things were looking good up until 4 days ago, people just stopped hearing me during calls and the dialer was acting funky. Tried to restart the phone and it fixed it. This only happened once so far, and since restart fixed it i guess its a software bug. But im kinda paranoid about this phone, should i just go and replace it again? Or is it a normal bug...
Thanks,

I experienced a pretty nasty issue today with my galaxy s. As you know it's getting pretty hot these days, and prague is by NO means an exception.
Anyway my wifi stopped working on JM2, I've had JM2 for a few days and never previously experienced wifi issues.
So I basically tried everything, deleting apps, restoring settings, flashing firmware, the list goes on and on. Until I thought, perhaps it overheated?
Opened it up removed the battery and shoved it the fridge. 10 minutes later it was working perfect.
Perhaps JM2 has a problem with heat?

Or maybe simply taking out the battery did the trick?
Your device should also give you a warning message if the battery gets too hot.
Mine did the other day while i was playing some robo defense while charing, two things that both seem to get me a bit hot...

This. Happened to me a few weeks ago.
Sure I did that before, left it for 2 minutes with the batery out,
while I made myself some coffee. That didn't do the trick.
I don't know what caused it to work again but it was consistently not working til I put it in t

I picked up a NS 4G on launch day and so far it has rebooted itself 3 times. I've factory reset the phone once and the Youtube app (that said installed, but wasn't there) finally showed up, but it has still rebooted once since then. Anyone else had this problem? This is not during a phone call like the TMo version had...just using the phone. Combined with the low signal and not being able to find a browser I like real well, I may be returning it. Thoughts? Thanks.
I got my NS4G on launch day, and it hasn't rebooted on me at all, aside from when I do it myself. Sounds like a hardware problem..my HTC Hero used to reboot pretty often.
I got my 4G a few days ago. No reboots at all.

no reboots here, definitely sounds like you have a bad phone. however the low signal isnt exclusive to just you.
Mine rebooted yesterday after I was on the phone for about 45 minutes.
Hi, this is my first post here. I bought a samsung galaxy s 2 two days ago. In the first day, it was fully charged and in airplane mode. I left it on at home for a day and after I came home, the battery was flat. And in the second day, it happened again. I didn't know why.
I found out it rebooted again and again by itself. What I saw on the screen were lots of error messages.
Why was it like that? This phone was using stock version KE7.

Who cares it´s under warranty and maybe you can even just return it to the shop
Is anybody else getting their S4 i9500 to shut down at random?
Two main things that happened to my device:
1. Dropped from 4-5 feet onto concrete :crying:
2. Rooted and installed WanamLite ROM v1.1
Now I would sometimes pick up my phone and find it has been switched off when I don't remember ever switching it off. Battery wasn't anywhere near out in each case.
I'll take this to mean this has only ever happened to me? It'sonly happened two or three times in a week but still worrying...

No its not just you. I never dropped my device or anything. Even on stock rom ME1. I had device shutdowns twice in two weeks.
One more thing about the shutdown bissue is that when the device is turned on again, its battery gets a big jump of 10 to 15 percent less. You will be able to see it through the battery percentage graph in settings.

I bought the phone for my wife 10 days ago. It has randomly shutdown 3 times since. Once in camera, twice in browser. Updated to ME1 yesterday and it shut down once after. I am going to try wiping and see. Let's keep this thread going!

Besides the overheating and camera making my phone to restart..... i do not have this kind of issue. Hopefully the latest update gets rid of it.
To everyone suffering from this issue:
Guys, update your firmware to either MEA or the newer ones. I had this exact issue before the update but have no such issues now. The update will fix the issue 100%.
Have fun with your S4s

Just update to latest firmware MEA or newer via OTA, Kies or ODIN. This issue has been totally fixed along with other issues like camera restarts and crashes.

Anyone got an issue where after some time (can be one week plus), you pick up your tab and the touchscreen is completely unresponsive on the lockscreen, can't even press powermenu? Reboot fixes. I had it on JSS1J and persists into JSS1Q. Hard to isolate as it may not happen for say a week of uptime, seems to be no pattern or consistent trigger

I been getting the same thing. Charging over night the tablet wakes but touch is unresponsive. I'm on Clean rom and Elementalx kernel. Yesterday morning after 8 hours on battery and unused it woke and touch was fine. This morning after 6 hours on charger, over night, it woke and touch is fine. Need more testing.
Note: yesterday afternoon I update Elementalx kernal to 1.3
Yeah elemental or stock it happens

A week or more? I can't get my nexus 7 to last more than a few hours without rebooting itself.

I see this from time to time on mine. What sucks the most is when the damn alarm is going off and I can't do anything but hold the power down to reboot. Wife loves this "feature" in the early AM.
I have an unlocked bootloader but I'm running stock kernel (3.4.0-g6537a16) and stock JSS15Q. I do see random reboots as well, seems to be related to the screen going to sleep by itself but I can't reliably reproduce it.
Happens to me as well. Annoying.
I had this on stock locked so its nothing to do with bootloader or custom kernel/ROM.
Curious if a CM based ROM will affect this i.e. not stock JSS1Q based.
Is everybody facing this touchscreen issue? I am planning to get the new nexus 7 2nd Gen from canada. Is it something you can discover in the first week itself because the person who is bringing it will get the tab a week before her return.
If you're lucky it'll show up in that time period.
Others have gone 10 days.
Have them put off buying until the last second....
Same thing happening to me. The screen becomes unresponsive. Happens in the morning when the alarm is going off and have to reboot. I just updated to ElementalX 1.4 and hoping it'll fix it. I'm hoping Google comes out with an update soon because my screen sensitivity sucks sometimes. It's not registering my taps.
It doesn't lol it's either hardware or something in 4.3base

My one, after 10 days, dead, the touch screen has no response at all
sent back to repair for over 1 week, still no news on when can return..
really bad feeling with this Nexus 7 (2013),
only Nexus 4/7/10 has no problem and still working well till now.
I faced this as well. But it solves itself.

I experienced the same issue here. However, I am not able to reboot as I am still running on stock and don't have the debug option enabled. Pushing the power bottun for some time only brings up a menu where i may chosse to shut down. As the touchscreen is not working, I cannot do anything. Unfortunately, my battery is almost completely charged. Any ideas how to reboot?
Coincidence: The touchscren went unresponsive after the alarm clock went off. Maybe there is a connection?
Here's hoping JSS15R fixes this (fat chance hah)

Hold down the power button until it reboots.
I had this issue exactly once since I got mine, and it's been fine since. I suspect it's a hardware or driver issue.
