Does anybody know sone work around regarding this? Because its starting to annoy me, have you ever experienced when you are using your device, the battery warning suddenly pops up and says that you must charge already and the battery percentage suddenly changes to 3% eventhough awhile ago there is still 50% left, but when you reboot it chages back to 50%, what could be a possible culprit, this happens a few times to me a day and im tired of rebooting everytimethe warning pos up.
Any advice is appreaciated
Same experience. I posted this a while ago but no solution.

well this isnt an acutal solution but have you tried actually draining your battery down to 3% recently? By doing that you are "calibrating" the battery life sensor and maybe that will cause this issue to occur less frequently?
This happened to me once so I did that and havent had a problem since. Hopefully it works for you!
but how do you power it on if thinks the battery is critical
Somehow if ido a reboot it just goes back to normal..maybesomething is messing up with the battery sensors,i did let it drain but some how it still the same, i had read on a similar thread about a bump charge or something maybe i could try that and lets see from there
on verizon tab SCH-I800 - does the same thing ... mine seems to happen around 33% though. (i thought it was something with the 33% .. since it would drop down to 3%) ..
i think samsung should really push out an update to address some of the glitches in these tabs..
Tried the recalibration thing. Problem still exists.

thats a similar issue i get,. Yes i tried the recalibration charge also and still having the problem, i did a factory reset also and it did nothing.. Im really desperate for some fixes..
Mine jumps from 15% to 3%. Quite annoying, I assumed that it is because it is poorly calibrated and so it doesn't realise its actually critical until its 15%.
I tried calibrating it by running it until it switches off, and then fully charging. However, that didn't work.
If in reality the battery is at 15%, then its a pretty bad software bug.
Maybe deleting the battery stats solves the problem?
I think its getting worse on mine now after a full charge after i remoce the charge around 2min. It says 3% again what the heck?

Tried flashing with another rom but no help. Start to wonder if this is hardware related....

try to flash it with rotohammer rom JHA/JMC it might fix the issue. My problem with GT was battery draining too quickly but after flashing it's much better now.

This worked for me too, however I had to do it 2 or 3 times. I haven't had any problems since.
I think i sorted it out also by calibrating battery,i removed the battery stats using the root explorer, now im still observing the progress

Not too sure what's the issue but it does sound like a program consuming too much CPU or the battery calibration issue.

This thing gets hot! Just been configuring launcher pro which took around 5 minutes and wasn't data intensive and the back of the phone is really hot. So much that I can smell the plastic heating up! The battery drained real fast during the process too.
Anyone else experiencing this ?

I have the exact same problem, it happens especially when I play any games or intensive appliaction. The battery drains and it gets hot next to the camera, I suspect this is where the cpu lives. Do you think its because its rooted? because I rooted it as soon as I got it so I dont know what it was like before.
And as I am away from the uk for the next six weeks I cant even send it back to O2
No nothing to do with root, mine was same before and after, pretty normal to get hot on some demanding apps.

It gets really hot sometimes though, not to the extent of burnt plastic smell but it gets pretty uncomfortable touching around lens at the back.
I've been going through this this morning. It seems that the CPU loves to go up to 1.2GHz even if it doesn't need to be that high (and it stays there). Also there I've also been noticing through ADB shell that their are a few niggles. For example the wi-fi sharing process can start without even being activated.
For example this was a ADB shell top taken while running Cordy downclocked to 800MHz in setcpu. The phone was a tiny bit warm but only by the camera (where the CPU is). Basically, this just shows that if you are playing a game, nothing else is going on so the CPU shouldn't be going up to 1200MHz. And it plays the same as when it isn't underclocked.
I'm currently assisting Pulser with investigating this until he gets his SGS2.

If you do, freeze anything that mentions wifi sharing, unless you are going to use wifi hotspot and kies air a lot.

My phone got so hot that it shut itself down!
since that i have done a complete reset of the phone and started from scratch again....100% better.
The problem as i see it is with all the 'tinkering' that we users do. All the additional launchers etc and widgets that you add really seem to mess the phone up!
My advice is keep the phone as samsung intended it...or at least change very little. You will see far improved battery life and none of the over heating problems.
Just my opinion but its worked for me.

that's just not true.
Mine gets hot aswell .. it's random sometimes but usualy with playing games etc. I suspect it has something to do with the samsung drivers/software and not our tinkering.
Bugs bugs bugs...
Mine also gets fairly hot, which might be a little uncomfortable - but that's the sacrifice you make when you get such a high powered device in such a small space.
Well, amount of apps/tinkering/etc has nothing to do with the phone getting got UNLESS an installed app in messing something up.I have heard many such cases when a rogue app made the CPU run at 100% in different phones. If that's the case you have to find and remove the app.I'd suggest OS monitor for finding it.Never happened to me though!
What's more,it's normal for it to get more hot than your average phone,as it carries more power under the hood and has nothing to help it dissipate the generated heat,as it's plastic. The Desire HD does a very good job with managing heat and I have never exceeded 40 C,even when gaming with an overclock at 1.8GHz and performance governor. Not saying the DHD is better, but Samsung wouldn't have left something like this if it would damage the phone. So I tend to believe that it's designed to get hot.
Mine has overheated twice.
Both times, when trying to pair itself automatically to my car kit. The phone got really really hot (i noticed it warming my leg in my jeans pocket) and needed the battery pulling out to reset it. When it started back up, the running temp was nearly 50 degrees (in standby, it runs at about 27)
Hasn't done it since though, just keeping my eye on it!
I read few thread and tried like Calibrating Battery, Clearing battery stacks etc. I'm has flashed the ftf file and Pre-rooted image. The draining issue only happens if the WiFi is On. If I turn off the WiFi it works just fine. Otherwise the device will get heated and the battery will go down like crazy, Within 1 hour around 10% goes down when the phone is in idle. I turned off all the sync. I re-flashed the firmware as well still no luck. I only have Launcher Pro and Widget locker installed rest is stock. I removed few apps like Fun download etc. I also freezed Maps using Titanium backup. My only theory it could be a buggy kernel because it didn't happen in the previous build. But I also tired with DoomKernel (test version) no luck. I'm kinda scared to flash the old firmware back because I see lot of RED Light issues. What else you think could be the problem?

i have exactly the same problem with a NEO, all stock no root no nothing, there is for sure a problem with this firmware.
I'm still on the 2.3.3, but i have noticed a similar effect. This was caused in my case by my email program (com.android.email). By killing the service, the batterydrain went to normal. By starting email again, the batterydrain goes to around 10% per hour and a warm phone. Also there is a lot of bandwidth used!!! up to 20 mb per hour.
I finally got off my lazy ass and jus tremoved all my email accounts and am re-adding them now one by one. Up until so far, it does seem to work.

I have the same issue, it started on .368 firmware.
now I'm getting weird battery status readings, for ex: when charged to 100% after few hours of not using it reaches 60~50%, I turn it off, pull out the battery and put back in then turn it back on, it shows 80~70%
im having serious wifi problems, anyone know a safe method to flash back? i just got my phone replaced to, i dont want to run into the 0% battery issue again
I have the exact same battery issues since .368. For example, I unplugged the phone 24 minutes ago at 100% and now it's down to 97% on stock kernel (.283) and with the screen off the whole time....

I tried the stock kernel as well. Still the same problem. I really like to know if it's hardware or software.
I am having the same problem, with lots of heat generated when making calls so much it makes my ear sweat onto the screen. Also there is a huge amount of heat generated when i use data, the battery reduces at 1 % / minute when using data, and also quite a bit when im using the music player also. I hadnt noticed this before as i wasnt using it for every day use because it was sim locked. im scared to go back firmwares because of the 0% battery issue. Im not interestd in root is it ok just to flash back and not root?

There are just the system apps, the keyboard, the clock widget, music player equalizer, e-mail client and setcpu... basically the same apps as before, as I didn't do any major change since I was on .145.
I checked for maps and it wasn't running.
I guess the battery life is indeed poorer since the last two updates, but at least they have better RAM management than in .145.
Anyways, I have a computer around most of the time (either at home or at work) so I can always charge it, but it's a bit frustrating to see the battery go down like hell when I'm not even doing much with the phone. I mean even a friend of mine who owns an SGS II has slightly better battery life, and that's a dual-core...

Been running Clean GB BML rom (latest version) since it came out and haven't had any problems. Battery has been decent (not grand but not bad), and its been pretty snappy.
All of a sudden this morning i take my phone off the charger, as I do every day, and the battery meter is basically just counting down and draining. The phone lasts about 2 hours and its practically dead. I charge it up at work and again the battery is draining like crazy. I popped the battery out and cleared battery stats, no luck at all. Battery is smoking hot too.
So in an effort to hold on to juice, i fire up juice defender. This of course helps some, but still draining. And then it starts getting VERY laggy. A text comes in and the screen won't rotate for 10 seconds after popping out the keyboard and things like that.
I haven't installed any new apps in the last few days. I really haven't done anything unusual or different than I normally do.
Any ideas what might be wrong? Battery gone bad over night? Phone is actually dying?
I'd rather not have to flash a new rom, but of course if i have to i will.

I had this issue, except for me, it started to last 6 hours, then in December lasted for 2 hours, and before new years it lasted 30 mins. I went ahead and ordered an Epic Touch 4G battery and it's back to the norm of 12- 1 day battery. Do try Marcusant's advice, but if you ask ME, as surprising as it may be, batteries don't last forever and it sounds a lot like what was wrong with mine. They're made to last about a year or two. Buying a new battery won't hurt, and if its fixed with Marcusant's advice, having a spare will only help for when it does eventually die.

My crappy chinese battery that I bought on ebay a year ago is dieing on me, the phone just shuts off randomly. I don't mean shuts down from low battery, I mean literally the screen goes black and it won't turn back on until I pop in my other battery. Kind of annoying, especially when it says I have like ~60% left

That use to happen to me on my bad oem after I kept trying to turn it on past the 30 mins. Also another good indicator of a battery not holding charge is if you notice its got juice, and when it "dies" on you, it claims to have none, then it magically charges in about 15 mins.

Be careful with that. They sent me these crap 1200 maH batteries. I went through 3 of them before 1 would work. I got fed up and called them and they said if I bought an OEM battery somewhere I can fax them the receipt and they will reimburse me. And they did. Got a genuine OEM from Ebay for $12.
Hi all,
First post so go easy
I've had my N4 for about 18 months. Ever since 4.4.3 (now on 4.4.4 and nothings changed) I think I have been having some probelms.....I also dropped my phone around the time of the update so can't rule out a hardware problem, anyway....
On full charge the phone is, after a random amount of use perhaps around half battery, it drops signal completely....then it start goiing crazy, opening apps clicking on things (sometimes locks up) then shuts it's self off.
Once I turn it back on it says the battery is almost out.....even though before the crash it was at 50%???? (Please see imnage below for "cliff edge" on battery screen shot!)
I have tried safe mode, I have done a factory reset and removed all and any apps except facebook. Other symptoms include forgeting wifi and other account logins!
Also worth noteing I dropped it and smashed the screen, I then had it repaired and voided the warrenty (?) because I needed it same day for work.....dont know if thats connected was working fine for a while after this happened.
I have seen various posts of this forum and other about this kind of thing but no exact answers.....any help would be great 7 months until free new phone
Sudden drop is extreme right....
Re flash factory images for a full wipe, if it doesn't work after that then its probably hardware (sadly), maybe you could get a moto g? I've heard there really good and cheap.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
Sounds like something went wrong during the repair or drop and that this is a hardware issue. As suggested, try flashing full stock, but I am pretty sure this is a hardware problem, unfortunately.

Thanks guys .....Ive been doing as much reading as pos.
Some people are saying reather than the drop its maybe just a failed battery? thoughts?
It could definitely be a possibility. If you are up to it, you could purchase a new battery and try to replace it, there is just the risk of damaging something further.

Same thing is happening to my wifes NEXUS 4. Hers is a little over a year old now. It was dropped and I replaced the screen a few months ago, but ever since the new updates, her phone has been going CRAZY!
The phone randomly loses signal, battery drains quickly and apps open close (ghost touches) and then it shuts down.
I've cleared the cache, reset to factory defaults and even run in safe mode and nothing. The phone is useless now, she maybe gets 2 hours of normal use out of it before it goes completely nuts again.
One of us should roll back to 4.2.2. and report the result

Facing similar issues. Have posted it here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/help/fast-battery-discharge-t2799931/post53790262?nocache=1
Any solutions?
I am waiting for a new battery. Try rollback to 4.2.2.
ITs same on my phone after an 4.4.3 update teh N4 gone rogue before the update it was working just fine I just did factory reset got back to 4.2.1 android and its doing the same
Just to keep you up to speed...I suspect it may be the battery....or perhaps power management issue/conflict??
Trick is if I keep my battery charge above 60-65% it's fine......get below that and the trouble start.....weird. hvaing said that seems to drain faster than normal also. My hope are pinned on battery solution once Rajnus trys it.
Although not looking foward to taking phone apart to replace it
Today after the first symptom I rebooted phone and after reboot my battery was at 14%. It looks like to me that we have constant drain but system some how is not registering it properly. I will restart after every 10%
Edit: 85% ->reboot -> 57%

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one suffering from this issues as well. I replaced my screen and digitizer about 3 months ago and never had issues. Last week I updated from 4.4.2 to 4.4.3 (and 4.4.4 shortly after) and started having the same issues where there would be ghost touches on the screen once I got to around 70% battery, loss of radio/signal, and when I would restart the phone, I would lose majority of the battery charge. I tried flashing stock back on the phone and the problem still is present.

Just to repeat that is exactly what is happening to me word for word.
