battery drains.. sort of - Galaxy Tab General

Does anybody know sone work around regarding this? Because its starting to annoy me, have you ever experienced when you are using your device, the battery warning suddenly pops up and says that you must charge already and the battery percentage suddenly changes to 3% eventhough awhile ago there is still 50% left, but when you reboot it chages back to 50%, what could be a possible culprit, this happens a few times to me a day and im tired of rebooting everytimethe warning pos up.
Any advice is appreaciated

Same experience. I posted this a while ago but no solution.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App

well this isnt an acutal solution but have you tried actually draining your battery down to 3% recently? By doing that you are "calibrating" the battery life sensor and maybe that will cause this issue to occur less frequently?
This happened to me once so I did that and havent had a problem since. Hopefully it works for you!

but how do you power it on if thinks the battery is critical

Somehow if ido a reboot it just goes back to normal..maybesomething is messing up with the battery sensors,i did let it drain but some how it still the same, i had read on a similar thread about a bump charge or something maybe i could try that and lets see from there

on verizon tab SCH-I800 - does the same thing ... mine seems to happen around 33% though. (i thought it was something with the 33% .. since it would drop down to 3%) ..
i think samsung should really push out an update to address some of the glitches in these tabs..

Tried the recalibration thing. Problem still exists.

thats a similar issue i get,. Yes i tried the recalibration charge also and still having the problem, i did a factory reset also and it did nothing.. Im really desperate for some fixes..

Mine jumps from 15% to 3%. Quite annoying, I assumed that it is because it is poorly calibrated and so it doesn't realise its actually critical until its 15%.
I tried calibrating it by running it until it switches off, and then fully charging. However, that didn't work.
If in reality the battery is at 15%, then its a pretty bad software bug.

Maybe deleting the battery stats solves the problem?

I think its getting worse on mine now after a full charge after i remoce the charge around 2min. It says 3% again what the heck?

Tried flashing with another rom but no help. Start to wonder if this is hardware related....
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App

try to flash it with rotohammer rom JHA/JMC it might fix the issue. My problem with GT was battery draining too quickly but after flashing it's much better now.

This worked for me too, however I had to do it 2 or 3 times. I haven't had any problems since.

I think i sorted it out also by calibrating battery,i removed the battery stats using the root explorer, now im still observing the progress

I also have a sprint tab and it is three months old. I have not put another rom on it, only rooted it. It also has developed this battery problem recently. It will go from 53 to 3 all of the sudden.

Not too sure what's the issue but it does sound like a program consuming too much CPU or the battery calibration issue.

battery time just fell off

without doing anything new my battery time just droped off the face of the earth.. its down about 75%. i was getting a full day mixed use now all of a suden im getting 6-8 hours with just a few phone calls.
my awake time is at 16%
I havent done anything new that i can think of.
im using (and have been for awhile) the mugen 1800 extended battery.
trying to think what might be doing it and cant come up with anything i havnt found in the forums already.
you probably downloaded some app that is running in the background continuously. check with a task manager to see what's running, and then try uninstalling some recent apps to test it out.
thats what i was thinking but i cant find anything new running with the task manager

Could just be a bad battery? I'm having same problem, maybe worse with stock battery. I went from 100% down to 15 in like 5 hours just reading my RSS feeds every hour or so. I think I may have fried my battery using it to tether for excessively long periods.
You're not using your phone to tether are you?
Mine is way down this week too. Initially I thought it was Swype, but not so sure anymore because no other users are reporting problems.
Are you using Modaco's rom and kernel ? or any new kernel for that matter? Ever since I switched kernels my battery hasn't made it through the day.

No I'm not.. Turned a few more newer apps off and still no good today.. I was at 5% batt left after 9 hours with about 10 minutes web browsing (not wifi) 4 or 5 text messages and about 45 minutes talk time. That's down about 90% from were I was a week ago .
I managed to narrow my problem down to the Taskiller widget. Removed the widget (still running the app full time) and all is well.
Last night I rolled back to before I used a custom Kernel. I rather battery life over speed. I need my phone to last from 6am to at the very least 7pm. I think once people get over the performance boost, we'll see a lot more posts relating to battery issues.

might be that too, i hope not as i love that keyboard. just having it installed shouldn't drain the battery, should it? im on day 2 with the custom kernel and i too noticed more battery drain. at 1pm my hero was fully charged. i only played a bit with the phone and made two short calls and it's down to 86% already at 4pm. i want to roll back but i do like the speed of the new kernel. ill see how it does tonight.

Yeah going back to regular input sucks. Swype was only some leaked beta version, we don't really have right to complain; however, I bet their end product will be much better. I just hope they'll release it as an app and not as part of custom Android phone so we can get it sooner.
figured I woud resurect this thread rather than start a new one.
yesterday I decided to RUU my phone to pull the completely stock apks out of it. after I did that I restored my backup of fresh 1.1 with gbhils kernel and now I am at 90% awake time spare parts shows that "android system" as something keeping it awake. any suggestions on what this could be? could it have something to do with restoring the back up with the kernel over stock without a wipe?

Losing Battery life pretty fast now.. why?

I flashed my vibrant to bionix 1.3.1 a while back, pretty much a week after is was released. Its been great up to about 2-3 days ago. I had a full charge at work at today around 2 pm, I got home and checked the battery life at around 6 pm it was at 72%. I sent out about 4 texts lastnight. Got up this morning is was at 44%. I used to get about 2-3 days out of light use. It will probably be dead by 2 pm again today.
What gives?
Network data off -
Black background -
Brightness is the lowest -
Idk maybe randomly reading it wrong? P.s. Why dont people charge their phones at night?!?!? Thats what I do
Oh i do as well usually. But like i said, the battery is starting to drop so fast that by lunch that day it was already at like 49%. By 2 pm is was full and so on. I just dont understand why its dropping so fast thats all.
Might have something to do with the battery
Check what's running in the background. The other night I was just using the phone normally and put it to sleep, checked it a few times and it was dropping 1% every 15 minutes or so. Noticed it kept checking into something. VVM and Market Checkin was running, killed it and it seemed to help. Also discovered (might not be true) that the New MAPS and GMAIL apps constantly check in and drain the battery after removing the updates phone seems to last longer/as it did before..:/
oo maybe that might be it. I Just updated a boat load of my apps a few days ago. P.s. how do you remove just the update?

those are just a few tips , if You didn't install anything that would change Your battery behavior TRY TO CHARGE YOUR PHONE IN WALL OUTLET INSTEAD OF COMUPUER USB ,also did You flash any updates to Bionix that got released because of so some of them contain update to modem so if previous bionix was on JL4 modem which is fast and battery savy new update might off reflashed your modem to newer one as fast as old but with worst battery . good luck i can give u million tips how to save juice , oh btw :

also clean up Your battery stats in clockwork and recharge it with wall outlet Your battery might be recalibrated and when it shows 2% left u might have 10 really instead that's why clean battery stats and recharge.
or sadlly Your battery cant hold the juice anymore because it was recharged to zero few times too many , sorry
This is crazy. I just came to xda to post my bionix 1.3.1 battery problem. I been running it for a week and no issues. But this morning I took the phone off the charger and within 10 minutes of using it I was down to 85%. Usually after my morning usage I'd be around 93-95%. But that's not the issue I wanted to post.
I was trying to wait for Black Ice since Frost had the best battery life of any rom I've tried...just not feeling the Frost theme. So I started to download the Frost zip & got the phone on the charger.
Even after I put it back on the charger my battery life kept going down. Plugged it in at 85% and a few minutes later I noticed it was at 83%

look for GMAIL and MAPS, click on them and then where it says "Uninstall update" you want to click that. Done.
truee u might want to disable location access if its on too
if u updated ,find out which modem the previous rom u ran and reflash it to the modem u had before.

I have the same problem. I have system panel running all the time. When I sleep, the phone sleeps too and uses about 1% of battery per hour. But when im actually using the phone, even if the use is minimal like sending a few texts etc. The battery consumption is far greater than the use. Top apps in system panel monitoring is usually system process and system itself. How do I correct this issue?

I had a issue a while back. What I did to fix it is go with the standard rom. Then slowly I would put one or 2 apps back on. After a day or so I found out which one was to blame and got rid of it.

Just wanted to know if anyone else has problems with their Nexus 4 since the latest update?
So far, within 24 hours I have had to charge my phone twice fully.

froze again in landscape mode
after a few reboots it continue to run super hot... like 65*
battery is draining even faster than what Ingress. uses
still occurs in safe mode
is the hardware going bad? i saw a few other folks having this also happen in the last week without ant solutions

i have had my current setup since i got the phone.. AOKP, Franco Kernel, undervolted -25mv, with like 215 total apps.... decent battery like, usually about 3 hrs SOT...
but yesterday was among weird to say the least.... Franco monitor will show my CPU was up to 170* at one point... but yet, my CPU usage on my monitor was with core 0-1 being less than half throtle while core 2-3 were offline... so i thought it was weird that my CPU would be so hot, yet not ON....it was so hot the phone would shutdown as soon as it got booted...
then my battery was not hot, but draining incredibly fast.... like from 88% to 19% in less than 2 hrs....
my battery usage pretty much displayed that it was the Screen consuming most of my battery.... i didnt notice GS being a problem, but im sure i would have noticed if it was
So far, i went ahead and factory reset, formatted /system /cache /data and dalvik... installed my rom again fresh.... its not acting up yet.... but for some reason i cant shake the fact its using battery much faster... i went earlier in my break from 94% to 87% in less than 10 minutes... thats not normal..maybe its just me..
so tonight i am going to reformat everything a couple times, install all fresh and see what happens before i restore everything back in the phone.

I'm with the same problem you're with. I did format everything, and the problem persists, can't really find the culprit on this.
I'm using PA 3.99 + FK, but I've tried with stock and cm, with stock kernels also.
Please let us know if you did solve the problem, and how did it, because this is becoming difficult to manage the use of this phone for me, having to carry the charger everywhere I go.

So battery life has been horrendous. It dies much faster and takes long to charge. My car charger no longer charges the phone... yet my Gnex and N7 FHD charges on that charger fine....
Qi charging works fine too (thats next to my bed)
So i called assurant, which sent me to Tmo, which sent me to Google (got it at play store) and they are sending me a new unit, since this one will be covered until manufacturer warranty for malfunction, not physical damage
Im sorry i will not have a resolution, i will revert back to stock and re lock it before i sent it back.... Hopefully i get a good one and not one with issues...

Samsung Note 4 N910C battery drain

Hello and Happy New Year to all,
*
I came across an issue with my Note's (N910C) battery today and I would like your opinion on it.
*
A quick background:
*
The phone has never been rooted.
9-10 months ago I downloaded an official firmware (6.0.1) which I flashed via Odin and it began to drain the battery very fast, killing the phone in less than a day.
I got a new battery, but the problem was still there.
Eventually I tried another firmware which worked nicely and consumption returned to normal levels. Since then, I had no problems whatsoever.
Yesterday night I got a notification to update. I had already done another two in the past - if I'm not mistaken - , without noticeable difference.
I did the update overnight and I removed the charging cable in the morning. It seemed that it was a little warmer than usual, but I did not pay attention.
The battery percentage was reducing at the rate of 1% per minute and it died within 2 hours.
I checked battery info, nothing abnormal.
I have two questions:
*
1. Does anyone have similar experience with this model (or other)?
2. If I reinstall the previous firmware, normally the problem should be fixed, right? I mean it started after an official update which AFAIK affects native apps only.
*
Thank you in advance
I have noticed on my Note 4, after upgrading to marshmallow, the battery drained like crazy too. It would drain 10-20% when I use it for 20 mins or so. The battery that I'm using is a 'new' one that I bought just about a year ago although the problem still occurred when it was fairly new.
I'm speculating that there might be some sort of battery or software issue with marshmallow as the original battery that came with the phone also had the same issue. It would drain fairly quickly until one day it just stopped working and would boot loop until I plugged it in to the charger.
Ever since marshmallow, I have never seen my battery get to 15% before switching off completely. Sometimes even 45% lol.

I had a faulty N910F and got another (used) one and it's had occasional forced closes at between 15-20%. This worries me that it might go the way of the old one where it developed the issues with it freezing and the frequent reboots....does yours exhibit any other issues?

Yes. Unfortunately. Currently, it would just die halfway even when I'm at 50%? That's the highest that I've noticed. So I had to charge it up for a bit maybe to 60% and it would be fine before dying around the 20+ - 40% mark. Previously, the original battery that came with the phone had this weird issue where the battery won't hold any charge even when it's fully charged. Like it will go to a bootloop when I've unplugged it even though it's at 100%. When I bought the new, current battery I noticed that it would still die off at 15-20% and the original battery became bloated a few months later.
Are you using any custom roms? The bootloops and freezing could be related to using some custom roms. I changed from a N7 port to a deodexed stock rom and the frequency of the freezing and reboots just plummeted. Reboots only happening when the battery is close to dying.

Ah right, so you had only the reboots, nothing else? That's fair enough.
No, it's nothing at all to do with the ROM. I'm stock but LOTS of people have had the same issue. As it stands, the only way to fix it is to get a new mobo :crying:

Well besides the usual overheating that's related to our snapdragon CPU, nothing much but mostly battery issues.
Although there is thread that I'm following that promises to fix the 15-20% issue. Checking their method to see if it works or not

*
Thank you in advance

hey can you give me the link of that firmware that improved your battery life
I had a similar problem with fast battery drain - did a factory reset and it's back to normal. Make sure you're using a battery from a reputable source like RavPower (don't think there are any genuine Samsung ones left and Anker stopped making them).

Galaxy note 4 fast battery drain issue

I m using galaxy Note 4 N910C, which i have had for 15 month.
Since the last 2 or 3 months, the battery drain increased a lot, and it goes incredibly fast from 30~20% to 0%. Sometimes it may even shut when at 20...I m thinking this is happening because of OS update to marshmallow and since then no more updates for us.
But right now my phone screen started flickering, my aplications became very laggy and unresponsive, and phone lost mobile signal (wifi still connected). I plugged the charger in and it still kept falling untill 0% and turned off.
This is the problem I m also having. Many have got the same problem. Why it actually happening. Mostly seems to be software issues. After factory reset my battery stays longer but within 2 to 3days again same problem. Because of marshmallow update. **** what the ****ing developers doing ? We need one ****in updatell to fix this issue.
I have even heard that the battery calibration in android 6.0.1 update has some sort of problem and recalibration would fix the problem for some but not for all since it didn't fixed my problem. Anyone who has some ideas about this severe issue please help. Help will be appreciated. Thank you.

OK, well it's definitely not the Marshmallow update - I've been using it on my N910C since it was released and on a recently purchased battery (direct from Samsung) I'm getting 5-6 hours SoT and battery always goes to 1% before shutting down (although I rarely let it get that low).
It may be some other software causing your problem, a hardware issue, a non-genuine battery, or you somehow need to reset the battery stats. Because it works OK for 2-3 days after a reset, it sounds like it might be some app causing an issue.
