Does anybody know sone work around regarding this? Because its starting to annoy me, have you ever experienced when you are using your device, the battery warning suddenly pops up and says that you must charge already and the battery percentage suddenly changes to 3% eventhough awhile ago there is still 50% left, but when you reboot it chages back to 50%, what could be a possible culprit, this happens a few times to me a day and im tired of rebooting everytimethe warning pos up.
Any advice is appreaciated
Same experience. I posted this a while ago but no solution.

well this isnt an acutal solution but have you tried actually draining your battery down to 3% recently? By doing that you are "calibrating" the battery life sensor and maybe that will cause this issue to occur less frequently?
This happened to me once so I did that and havent had a problem since. Hopefully it works for you!
but how do you power it on if thinks the battery is critical
Somehow if ido a reboot it just goes back to normal..maybesomething is messing up with the battery sensors,i did let it drain but some how it still the same, i had read on a similar thread about a bump charge or something maybe i could try that and lets see from there
on verizon tab SCH-I800 - does the same thing ... mine seems to happen around 33% though. (i thought it was something with the 33% .. since it would drop down to 3%) ..
i think samsung should really push out an update to address some of the glitches in these tabs..
Tried the recalibration thing. Problem still exists.

thats a similar issue i get,. Yes i tried the recalibration charge also and still having the problem, i did a factory reset also and it did nothing.. Im really desperate for some fixes..
Mine jumps from 15% to 3%. Quite annoying, I assumed that it is because it is poorly calibrated and so it doesn't realise its actually critical until its 15%.
I tried calibrating it by running it until it switches off, and then fully charging. However, that didn't work.
If in reality the battery is at 15%, then its a pretty bad software bug.
Maybe deleting the battery stats solves the problem?
I think its getting worse on mine now after a full charge after i remoce the charge around 2min. It says 3% again what the heck?

try to flash it with rotohammer rom JHA/JMC it might fix the issue. My problem with GT was battery draining too quickly but after flashing it's much better now.

This worked for me too, however I had to do it 2 or 3 times. I haven't had any problems since.
I think i sorted it out also by calibrating battery,i removed the battery stats using the root explorer, now im still observing the progress

Not too sure what's the issue but it does sound like a program consuming too much CPU or the battery calibration issue.

Since last week I am experiencing a really strange behavior of my battery.
Sometimes my phone (in a random app) just vibrates, the screen goes black and then it reboots. After the reboot I have lost 40-50% battery life. Sometimes the phones isn't even able to complete the reboot because it spontaneously has too little power left. See attached screenshots.
Has anybody had similar problems? Or knows a solution?
About my setup: The problem seems to be not rom or kernel related. It occurs no matter what rom or kernel setting I am using. Currently I am running coool boy's 4.3 GE witch KT's kernel (no OC or UV).
Is it possible that the battery is physically damaged? I have NO IDEA...

I've seen the same sort of graph on my old i9000. You're not gonna like this, but it got worse over time, and eventually my battery wouldn't last more than 5 mins. I thought buying a new battery would help, but it didn't. When I sent it in to Samsung they said they would have to replace the entire motherboard...
I think it's got something to do with the motherboard not being able to correctly sense the battery voltage/whatever/%. The phone reboots automatically because it thinks the battery is flat (even though it isn't).
If you're under warranty I suggest sending it in soon... Hopefully it's not the same as what I had heh.

Well *#!$
I'll observate it for the next few days and see if it's getting worse...
If your phone is rebooting as opposed to just powering off, then I suspect it is hardware related (motherboard) as already mentioned.
I do hope I'm wrong though.
Maybe try using it for extended periods while plugged into a charger and see what happens. If it doesn't reboot then it may just be the battery.
Right as OP I'm suffering the same exact problem or there abouts. I've flashed back to stock rom, fully charged to 100% drained to 0% back to 100% yet still phone keeps shutting off randomly and the only way it works properly is with the charger plugged in. It's escalated quite badly with now after a few mins of YouTube turning itself off and not rebooting. I've requested a repair by o2 who I'm in contract with and see what will happen. I've heard crap stories about their repairs before taking it to Samsung.
I9500 owner. Had this exact same problem when using older firmware. After updating to the latest one, never had this issue again. Its been two months now, even more.
Try this. Flash the latest available firmware for you phone, not talking about OTA but the downloadable one from any region (whichever is latest for i9505). I guess it may have something to do with the kernel too.
Edit: wait a minute, why is your battery level going up when it isn't even charging in the second screenshot. Middle of the battery timeline. That's weird. I guess you should send the phone back

I fear there is nothing else to do than turning it in (warranty)

Same problem here. It started three days ago and today I'm barely able to use it... I'm still on warraty and I even have insurance, but it's a major inconvenience anyway.
Mines gone in for repair back to my carrier still no movement despite them having it for 2 days now really should have sent it back to Samsung directly. Will keep you guys posted.

That's good to hear, just inconvenience but at least you won't have to pay for it (or have the defect materialize a year later or something)

Hey
I am new here.
but i was looking for information becuase my s4 9505i has the same problem
shuts of almost everytime i open apps too quickly or stream youtube or some other high usage apps etc.
battery drops up to 50 percent then back 40 percent then to 0 percent, the fact it that the phone never seems to know where the battery is.
by the way my phone is not rooted and i have done the factory reset a few times.
samsung... hmmm.. they seem to be real hard to talk to on the phone, i have had to call them 4 times already about the s4 i ahve had since june, and they just play me off like i am some kind of idiot etc. and deny that there is possibly any reason for random shutdowns, phone freezing, and now this battery/motherboard issue.
next bit is kinda stupid, the phone has a few internal scratches on it from when i ahve stupidly had the phone next to keys and all that. im sure they are going to try and void my warranty and say i have mistreated the phone...
had many phones before, maybe close to 50 and never, never, never have had to ring up a company to try and complain etc.....
any ideas.
I am in Australia,
I am thinking of trying the CONSUMER AFFAIRS kind of threats, but i have to word it the right way...
Hi all,
First post so go easy
I've had my N4 for about 18 months. Ever since 4.4.3 (now on 4.4.4 and nothings changed) I think I have been having some probelms.....I also dropped my phone around the time of the update so can't rule out a hardware problem, anyway....
On full charge the phone is, after a random amount of use perhaps around half battery, it drops signal completely....then it start goiing crazy, opening apps clicking on things (sometimes locks up) then shuts it's self off.
Once I turn it back on it says the battery is almost out.....even though before the crash it was at 50%???? (Please see imnage below for "cliff edge" on battery screen shot!)
I have tried safe mode, I have done a factory reset and removed all and any apps except facebook. Other symptoms include forgeting wifi and other account logins!
Also worth noteing I dropped it and smashed the screen, I then had it repaired and voided the warrenty (?) because I needed it same day for work.....dont know if thats connected was working fine for a while after this happened.
I have seen various posts of this forum and other about this kind of thing but no exact answers.....any help would be great 7 months until free new phone
Sudden drop is extreme right....
Re flash factory images for a full wipe, if it doesn't work after that then its probably hardware (sadly), maybe you could get a moto g? I've heard there really good and cheap.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
Sounds like something went wrong during the repair or drop and that this is a hardware issue. As suggested, try flashing full stock, but I am pretty sure this is a hardware problem, unfortunately.

Thanks guys .....Ive been doing as much reading as pos.
Some people are saying reather than the drop its maybe just a failed battery? thoughts?
It could definitely be a possibility. If you are up to it, you could purchase a new battery and try to replace it, there is just the risk of damaging something further.

Same thing is happening to my wifes NEXUS 4. Hers is a little over a year old now. It was dropped and I replaced the screen a few months ago, but ever since the new updates, her phone has been going CRAZY!
The phone randomly loses signal, battery drains quickly and apps open close (ghost touches) and then it shuts down.
I've cleared the cache, reset to factory defaults and even run in safe mode and nothing. The phone is useless now, she maybe gets 2 hours of normal use out of it before it goes completely nuts again.
One of us should roll back to 4.2.2. and report the result

I am waiting for a new battery. Try rollback to 4.2.2.
ITs same on my phone after an 4.4.3 update teh N4 gone rogue before the update it was working just fine I just did factory reset got back to 4.2.1 android and its doing the same
Just to keep you up to speed...I suspect it may be the battery....or perhaps power management issue/conflict??
Trick is if I keep my battery charge above 60-65% it's fine......get below that and the trouble start.....weird. hvaing said that seems to drain faster than normal also. My hope are pinned on battery solution once Rajnus trys it.
Although not looking foward to taking phone apart to replace it
Today after the first symptom I rebooted phone and after reboot my battery was at 14%. It looks like to me that we have constant drain but system some how is not registering it properly. I will restart after every 10%
Edit: 85% ->reboot -> 57%

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one suffering from this issues as well. I replaced my screen and digitizer about 3 months ago and never had issues. Last week I updated from 4.4.2 to 4.4.3 (and 4.4.4 shortly after) and started having the same issues where there would be ghost touches on the screen once I got to around 70% battery, loss of radio/signal, and when I would restart the phone, I would lose majority of the battery charge. I tried flashing stock back on the phone and the problem still is present.

Just to repeat that is exactly what is happening to me word for word.
I have Note 4 SM-910C Unrooted international on stock ROM 5.0.1.
my problem started with battery charging to around 80% then stops or take like 5 hours to reach 100% then when I use the phone battery suddenly drops from 20-30% to zero.
if I remove the battery then reinstall it reads 16-18% but may drop back to zero.
when turned off while charged it charges to 100% normally
It is irrespective of charger/cable i use (2mA).
tried hard reset and battery calibrate (non-root) but no good.
Any help with this problem

Sounds like your battery has gone rogue so you might wanna buy a new battery. A great example why not to buy Note 5 lol.
Maybe it's a bug in your rom build so why don't you try and upgrade from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1.
I have not used stock roms since the s2 days and after using custom roms I have never looked back.

this is happening since upgrading to 5.1.1 (dirty)..
is it possible to fix this with a factory reset ?
Try Battery calibration and battery repair from the store... If it's not doing something, then replace the battery
make sure your battery is fully charged. From dialing interface typing in *#0228# to check battery info and clicked "quick start" at the bottom of the screen, then your battery will drop down quickly, try these steps several times.

Yeah, Samsung has a solution. Buy a new phone as they will never update the 1 year old one even though they ****ed it up...
As much as Iove Note family I am more and more pissed with Samsung and eventually will stop buying their ****.... Already done with their watches by the way...
Definitely a degraded battery problem.

I have the same problem and already bought a new battery but the issue continues.
(Sorry for my English)
Hello and Happy New Year to all,
*
I came across an issue with my Note's (N910C) battery today and I would like your opinion on it.
*
A quick background:
*
The phone has never been rooted.
9-10 months ago I downloaded an official firmware (6.0.1) which I flashed via Odin and it began to drain the battery very fast, killing the phone in less than a day.
I got a new battery, but the problem was still there.
Eventually I tried another firmware which worked nicely and consumption returned to normal levels. Since then, I had no problems whatsoever.
Yesterday night I got a notification to update. I had already done another two in the past - if I'm not mistaken - , without noticeable difference.
I did the update overnight and I removed the charging cable in the morning. It seemed that it was a little warmer than usual, but I did not pay attention.
The battery percentage was reducing at the rate of 1% per minute and it died within 2 hours.
I checked battery info, nothing abnormal.
I have two questions:
*
1. Does anyone have similar experience with this model (or other)?
2. If I reinstall the previous firmware, normally the problem should be fixed, right? I mean it started after an official update which AFAIK affects native apps only.
*
Thank you in advance
I have noticed on my Note 4, after upgrading to marshmallow, the battery drained like crazy too. It would drain 10-20% when I use it for 20 mins or so. The battery that I'm using is a 'new' one that I bought just about a year ago although the problem still occurred when it was fairly new.
I'm speculating that there might be some sort of battery or software issue with marshmallow as the original battery that came with the phone also had the same issue. It would drain fairly quickly until one day it just stopped working and would boot loop until I plugged it in to the charger.
Ever since marshmallow, I have never seen my battery get to 15% before switching off completely. Sometimes even 45% lol.

I had a faulty N910F and got another (used) one and it's had occasional forced closes at between 15-20%. This worries me that it might go the way of the old one where it developed the issues with it freezing and the frequent reboots....does yours exhibit any other issues?

Yes. Unfortunately. Currently, it would just die halfway even when I'm at 50%? That's the highest that I've noticed. So I had to charge it up for a bit maybe to 60% and it would be fine before dying around the 20+ - 40% mark. Previously, the original battery that came with the phone had this weird issue where the battery won't hold any charge even when it's fully charged. Like it will go to a bootloop when I've unplugged it even though it's at 100%. When I bought the new, current battery I noticed that it would still die off at 15-20% and the original battery became bloated a few months later.
Are you using any custom roms? The bootloops and freezing could be related to using some custom roms. I changed from a N7 port to a deodexed stock rom and the frequency of the freezing and reboots just plummeted. Reboots only happening when the battery is close to dying.

Ah right, so you had only the reboots, nothing else? That's fair enough.
No, it's nothing at all to do with the ROM. I'm stock but LOTS of people have had the same issue. As it stands, the only way to fix it is to get a new mobo :crying:

Well besides the usual overheating that's related to our snapdragon CPU, nothing much but mostly battery issues.
Although there is thread that I'm following that promises to fix the 15-20% issue. Checking their method to see if it works or not

I had a similar problem with fast battery drain - did a factory reset and it's back to normal. Make sure you're using a battery from a reputable source like RavPower (don't think there are any genuine Samsung ones left and Anker stopped making them).
