Hey XDA,
Came across this, its a 374 Page Guide to Gingerbread. Maybe theres some not too well known secrets within the pages? Im sure not going to read it all but maybe some of you would like to glance over it.

It means that porting ics to other devices should devices should be a lot easier. The more pieces we have the better a chance of it happening.

If u consider xda a mall, then yes I am lol. Still as I said, its a matter of courtesy. We are under no obligation to follow any request from other forums(that I'm aware of at least). I said something because paul is a huge figure as Android community goes and he deserves respect as does everyone. Android community is built on the backs of people liked him.
In comparison your post is pointless & if it want explicitly directed at me I would be removing it as it is unconstructive and is a direct attack (for lack of a better weird) on another user which is not tolerated. as it its I'll let it slide, but don't try and push it, I doubt another mod will do the same.

XDA to go offline officially on JAN. 18th 2012

I guess xda is planning to officially go offline on purpose on JAN 18th to help petition against SOPA. The only way we can help get xda back online is by getting involved in the fight against SOPA by joining the petition process.
As far as I know this only applies to the U.S., so if you don't live in the U.S. you should have nothing to worry about.

Well if I don't see you guys on here again it's been a pleasure j/k I have faith that this petition will get through and am also glad xda is doing this. SOPA is way out of controll and could probably threaten to shut down xda for silly reasons if it gets passed. I will definately help to fight this.

Great. Shutdown the site as a protest for your own political beliefs. Great way to get everyone to go to other sites (if it were shutdown for more than a few days).

No but if it does pass you can bet pretty much every forum is gonna get shut down due to copyright. SDX, Rootwiz amd a lot of phone hacking websites will get shut down too

The internet has been around for 20+ years. **** like this comes up every 2 years.

We'll see what happens. Sopa is a pretty deal nothing like ever before that gives the gov the right to shut down basicly any website they want for suspected copywrite. I don't think xda or other websites would fight against it unless they felt threatened by it but who knows.

Lol, yeah I haven't been on talk anymore much just was busy with life stuff for a long time. Still kinda am which is why I don't have much time usally to do much for development purposes. You know "****" is always interesting on xda (never a dull moment). I think it is about to get more interesting with SOPA. I just tweeted @htc and @htcdev about where they stand with devs distributing their "non" open source software (exluding the kernel). I want to know if they plan on attacking sense rom devs or not for distributing their software. AOSP roms may be the only future for android devs. Anyways sent you a request on talk.

Can't understand why you want to protest the new a200 video. Other than the fact the dude couldn't get his video to pause, and messed up activating a couple of things, I can't see what's wrong.

Honestly can't see why I should protest it. They have a new product. And anybody knows, the trick behind marketing, is to give what the people want in a new product, thus tempting them to buy it, before they push the same updates 1 month later.
Old trick, and nothing wrong with it. People as old as you, should be wise to this.
Our ICS update, complete with "bling" and "fancy lock-screen" will come soon enough.
And quite honestly, my custom launcher put's the a200's to shame. Why do I need a circular launcher for bookmarks and volume, when I can create 3d frames and launch them at ease?

i think that everybody should ask acer if and when they are going to release an ICS update for our tablet. I did that through their website...
maybe it won't do anything but i'm sure it will do more than just complain here on xda!

The "if" has been answered. Yes, they are releasing it. When? They don't know. Honestly, unless by some stroke of luck you talked with someone in their technical development department, they don't have a clue, and anything they say is usually crap.

guys.. my comment about sprint root was a joke to see how much interest there was in the root and see what kinda reactions there'd be.
BUT.. some of the guys working on this need g3 devices... for root.. for unlock... for future exploits down the road...
root for any unrooted G3's will come.. I can promise that. But.. it will most likely not be an update to ioroot specifically.. and I may not be the one to post...

the couple users who did donate for a future Sprint G3 root.. I will be refunding. But I do thank you for your enthusiasm. hold onto it and use it when root IS posted to ensure the G3 continues to see great work(moar r00t? moar unlox? moar hax? r0mz.. zzz). there is a great group of ppl poking at this.. but as i mentioned.. we all dont have G3's.. and some will have to buy out of pocket.. just for the sake of hacking and contributing to community. I think I've slept a total of 8 hrs the past 3 days(not complaining!).. trust me.. this is being looked at and worked on.
keep your eyes on our twitters... @ tylerfixer (iomonster/thecubed/insertnamehere) .. @ teamandirc (jcase) .. i dont think shelnutt2 or beaups use twitter.. and me @ utoprime

That sucks I did see root access was working on an USA G3 but they did not tweet which variant.

T-Mobile didn't lock the bootloader, though. Shouldn't it be easy to install a custom recovery and root?

My only complaint with the device is no root for my Sprint model, and I think that's a good complaint to have because eventually it will come. Loving everything else, sans the aux cable issue.

I'm at work now, so I can't do anything useful for G3, just facilitating some stuff on IRC, and making stupid comments here on XDA
When I get home, I'm going to see if we can hit the SPR G3 hard.
After that, it's full steam ahead for unlocks. We've got a few ideas in mind, Shelnutt2 is getting his IDA disassembly refined so we can pick it to pieces. We might even be blessed with some help from toastcfh and beaups in the IDA department too!
We're definitely not going slow on this one, we're just gathering the troops!

Where's the best place to send donations? Monetary, no strings attached, so you guys can get whatever you need. I'm sick of bounties, I'd rather donate to make progress happen rather than after the fact.

Right now jcase needs some $$ to pick up a Sprint device - and I think he'd appreciate a few dollars towards a device. When we get an unlock together, I'll probably make a post and set up something so we can split the donations to everyone that contributed, so as to be fair.

Thank you for the consideration, I can actually afford the phone and I don't like taking donations for things before I have published. I just need to find a reasonable priced phone for sale.

UGH when are we getting root? When are we getting unlocked bootloader? Come on, where are the ROMs people??
Kidding. I don't even have my device yet. I'll start the real complaining once I get it
Anyways, thanks for this thread, seems there's still a lot of confusion regarding bootloader/root for the different device variants.

Fair enough. My donation is with no strings attached. If you would prefer I wait until release, that's fine - or if there is another team member who needs a device, please let me know and I will send it there.
