Of course it does. The EVO has flash and um, um, well that's really the only connection I see here.
Actually there are more connections when you really think about it. These devices run on batteries. They have memory. There considered electronics. I can go on and on......
You see, when you use your imagination you can come up with so many things that link this to the EVO!
I am going to go and start another thread here comparing 3d TV's. Imagine all the relationships to the EVO there!

whatever guys...im showing you a big innnovation for apple, them getting a way of flash, something that us android guys have had over them for a while...all i said is i think its cool, a little late but cool, but its still not better than android because if i read correctly it has to reroute the videos into a format i devices can read...some of you need to relax and open a notch on your belt,real talk
and btw how is this not related to us? We have had flash for a while and has been a main selling point on commercials! if you listen to advertisements you can hear it yourself, some of you really need to calm down

I come here to read about the evo and android, not what's going on with the iphone.

You are missing the point everyone is trying to make. You are clogging the general section with garbage that really has nothing to do with the evo. There is an off topic section that is accessible from the main forum (I believe that's where it is). I think your threads would be more appropriate there.

+1 all you do is link us to phandroid or engadget or some other android/tech blog. Some of us already frequent these sites and see this information and the rest of us don't go to those sites for a reason.

Innovation?? More like a need. Apple decided to take off flash favoring HTML5, unfortunately a very significant amount of websites still use flash and there is no incentive to make the switch to the new format. I guess Jobs got pissed that he could not access many websites that were flash enabled and decided that it was needed to put it back. There no innovation on this.

I won't agree on this. As stated by myself and others: we see these already. If they are not "HTC Evo 4g" related they do not belong here. Even if they are related they are not necessary. It is nice to get a discussion going from time to time but it makes it really hard to sift for ACTUAL news when you post so much of this stuff.

Some jerk took that to mean he was banned or punished or in some way unwelcome at XDA, which is false. The OP deserves a nice temp ban for having such a glaring attitude towards the administrators here at XDA who are doing their best to keep this site running. But, for someone with one post, I can't see that doing any good. Best to just ignore the troll till the admins remove this thread.

That actually seems reasonably fair... Everyone is angry at Acer for doing that, I don't see why Thor should be held to a different standard. Having said that, his kernel was great... I hope he comes back and plays according to the rules.
With any luck this was all a big misunderstanding, and he just hadn't started a GIT yet but was about to, or something like that.

I mean his kernel was up a few days only, you couldnt have given him some more time to explain or something?

As I say, let's just hope this was all a big misunderstanding. Thor was asked for his source a few times in that thread, and he never responded to those requests publicly. I don't know what happened behind the scenes though, as you say. Perhaps a mod can clarify?

Of course they would... They ban all the best devs over stupid $h*t. Android is "open source" but now we say he was banned for not including source? Thanks conan keep up the great work...

This isn't anything new even here on XDA, and as far as being legally compliant, show us the cease and desist order, please. In any event that's no cause to get a poster banned and XDA had plenty of occurrences on significantly less open platforms where they didn't ban the poster, but locked the content due to C&Ds.
Thor did significant amounts of work here to get us what we want. Acer and pretty much 100% of corporate industries are limited to what they can do or say because of much greater liability of what they produce. One user/fan/coder posting here not so much liability as none of it is anywhere near official.

This is crazy about one month ago we didn't have recovery, Then Thor arrived and fixed that he is very important to the development of the a 500, Lets hope this is temporary, Without devs like Thor we get nowhere on our devices, I have seen in the past when devs have fights with mods the devs leave for good. Posts like these irritate the hell out of me. Op is obviously a new poster, they didn't want to go digging for one quick answer so they asked, yes next time maybe they should read the rules or use the search but to go out of your way to make a comment like this even after another poster was kind enough to answer the question is just uncalled for. Not a good way to build a strong community.

There really is no reason to beat on people like this..I understand there is another thread that explains this but not everyone is as savvy as the next person and we are supposed to be a friendly community. All i have to say is lets be civil, everyone is excited to get ICS up and running, it is a huge improvement and will hopefully bring some performance improvements to our Xooms, which we are all here to talk about (all though I think the HC to ICS jump is much less then the GB to ICS) Ok thats all I have to say lets be nice.

I don't see the rush to get ICS on the Xoom... The difference between HC and ICS isn't enough to warrant immediate installation for me. I'll be happy when a dev finally does it, but until then, we still have good old Honeycomb, so let's count our blessings, eh?

For one thing, because it's the latest version of Android, and there may be fixes for things that are broken 'Good old Honeycomb'. We all want to have the latest thing on our devices, and we don't necessarily want to wait on VZW to test and approve it.
For another thing, we want this because it's actually open source, unlike Honeycomb. Since the source code for HC was unavailable, there was only so much the devs could do as far as making a ROM that was as feature rich as what they would like to offer to the community. Having the code laid out bare allows them to do cool stuff that we all benefit from.
Also, that XDA Noob video was awesome.

And let's not get lost in the fact that honeycomb ain't that great.

I will not reply to you again and add you to ignore because I know who you are and don't want to trail any more threads off topic. Now for a real reply. I find it odd that they are able to sue for data throttling that everyone has noticed and known about for a while. It still effects android phones and probably dumbphones with 3g. This is one reason I chose sprint. But I do bet that the throttled speeds are faster than Sprint's 3g on a good day.

I think he makes it fun and funny. I also find it entertaining that people are still replying. The gassyP account has been disabled since last nite.

Am I the only one that's hacked off that this forum has a picture of a Galaxy Note GT-N7000 phone on the forum header and not a Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet?
Despite complaining directly to all the moderators on this forum and the webmaster, and getting no reply whatsoever after a couple of weeks, the image still remains.
XDA Developer forums set their standards high and draw people in to how professional and accurate it's pages are. Yet here we have a pretty bad example of sloppy web page construction.
If anyone influential is reading this please can they let the right people know and get it fixed. It's embarrassing!

Actually I think you would care.. And it does have everything to do with the content of the forum.
I don't think it's trivial, else why is there a picture (and device specifications) on the header in the first place if someone didn't think it would be useful?
Developers spend a long time getting the 'little things' just right and paying attention to detail so the 'little things' that annoy people can be corrected. So sometimes 'sweating the small stuff' is what makes something perfect.
Call me pedantic but I don't think it sits well with what is normally a well organised website.

Okay, let me rephrase it. I KNOW I wouldn't care. As for the "why," the picture idea has been around a LONG time...back when there were far fewer devices. I'm sure managing this site is not an easy task and updating pictures is about as low as possible on the priority list.
Here is an idea. For all those hung up on this stupid topic, go start you're own forum and set it up like you want it with the pictures, topics, and whatever else you want. Fund it yourselves and spend your free time managing it. Otherwise STFU and realize this is NOT your site, you do not pay for it, and you have no right to complain about it as if you're "entitled" to anything provided to you on here...for free. Oh, and no, freedom of speech does NOT apply here. You're a guest on XDA's property. You can politely ask for them to do something, but demanding it, insulting them about it (e.g. calling them unprofessional, etc) is way fvcking out of line. Now grow up and move on.

Fund it yourselves and spend your free time managing it. Otherwise STFU and realize this is NOT your site, you do not pay for it, and you have no right to complain about it as if you're "entitled" to anything provided to you on here...for free. Oh, and no, freedom of speech does NOT apply here. You're a guest on XDA's property. You can politely ask for them to do something, but demanding it, insulting them about it (e.g. calling them unprofessional, etc) is way fvcking out of line. Now grow up and move on.

Whoa! That's one totally rude reply.
I never demanded anything. I did politely contact the right people, I am a polite person (unlike you). I did not say they were unprofessional, I said it was not in keeping with the USUAL professional standards, thereby indicating that XDA Developers IS very professional. I certainly do not resort to the level of insult and disrespect you are showing. I have been a guest here since 2005. You are also a guest and have no right to tell me to shut up or decide what I topic I can post.
I simply started this topic to ask if it could be changed. I did not expect it to become a place to abuse. May I suggest this topic is now closed, now that someone sensible here has helped out in trying to get the header changed.
