Hello,
I use my tablet at work, and sometimes i need to lock the tab when one ventures into another office for a while, and i am wondering whether the tablet is safe from people trying to get at its files?. Basically i saw the S2 problem with the lock screen, and it could easily be opened and that the lock screen should have an "immediate" timeout, i was wondering if this is necessary as i have a "5 seconds" timeout. Also is one able to get access to the tab via usb, eventhough debugging mode is disabled?

Whether 5 seconds is suitable or not is your decision. As for USB, the device won't appear on your computer unless you unlock it first.
Regarding the security hole on the galaxy S2, where you could bypass the lock screen by waiting out the timeout, and the only fix was to set it to "immediate", is this problem also inherent on the galaxy tab?

I don't think so...
USB debugging is accessible while the device is in the recovery mode, so the lock screen won't stop anyone from getting at the files if they know what they are doing.
Surely if the device is encrypted, and the device is in recovery mode, you wont be able to get to the files?.. My concern is if one steps away from the tab and its locked, is there a way to bypass the lock screen?, i have searched all over google, and cant seem to find anything that says one can bypass the honeycomb lock screen. I know the S2 had a flaw that you could
Dropped my Nexus 4 today right on its face. The entire display is cracked. Sure enough, it cracked in a way where it's not responsive anymore so I can't unlock it using my pattern code. I'm stuck with just an unlock screen. I can't even press the Emergency Dial button.
How can I get into my phone? I kind of need it.... =/
EDIT: Half the screen works, half the screen doesn't so it's not fully unusable.
Same thing happened to me.. Wish I could help you. luckily i had face unlock on so can get into it but cant do much else after that with only half the screen working :/

Are you rooted? Unlocked? Were you able to unlock your phone?
Recovery mode and factory reset
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
At start up I get a black screen the says Samsung with a unlocked lock with the word custom under it. After that the phone starts normally and runs fine. I just know I tried to unlock my ATT phone with a different sim and the got the wrong unlock code from ATT. Since trying that I get this black screen when starting up..
Hello,
I am using 4.3 stock rom. One thing is very annoying is the so-call security. The phone will be reset to factory setting if you enter wrong pin over 6 times. This is very bad idea. My little son sometimes plays on my phone by just touch those numbers in lock screen, so the pin attempts are easily over 6 times which cause my phone resets. How to remove this stupid feature? I remember on some phone, you have to wait for a few minutes in order to re-enter the pin code.

I wouldn't call it a stupid feature. When I enter my pin wrong a few times I have to wait to access my phone.
It is ok to wait for a few time, the stupid feature I called is "RESET to factory default". Is there a way to remove the feature?
One of my kids dropped my Note 3 and now the screen is blank. I can remove the battery and start it back up and hear the start up sound. I can't get in to my phone to back up the internal memory because I had a pattern lock on it and can't correctly swipe it. Any way of getting in using Kies?

You can use Android Device Manager to lock and also reset device password. That way you can easily unlock it. You can set new password as 1111 for easy unlocking.
Hope that helps.
