Dropped my Nexus 4 today right on its face. The entire display is cracked. Sure enough, it cracked in a way where it's not responsive anymore so I can't unlock it using my pattern code. I'm stuck with just an unlock screen. I can't even press the Emergency Dial button.
How can I get into my phone? I kind of need it.... =/
EDIT: Half the screen works, half the screen doesn't so it's not fully unusable.
Same thing happened to me.. Wish I could help you. luckily i had face unlock on so can get into it but cant do much else after that with only half the screen working :/

Are you rooted? Unlocked? Were you able to unlock your phone?

Sitting on a train. Started the phone. Can't unlock it. The screen is dead so I can't enter pin. When I push back I come to the locked screen. Can't move. Haven't got pattern on. Wtf. :-(
Ps. I managed right now to unlock it. This is true. I pushed Start button. Then audio down button. Then I could sweep away the "glass".
Now I'm stucked again. And the audiodown trick won't work. I'm going crazy. For real. Any suggestions?
Have you tried removing the battery, it has been known to work with some android handsets

Tried that many times.
Maybe it's the Launcher.
I will try the touchwiz for a while and see if thats helps.
Used the standard launcher. This morning the phone was locked again. Haid to remove battery. Am I doing something wrong?
Start+swipe is all I trying to do.
GONNA RESET THE WHOLE PHONE.

Phone worked when I left home. It was charging. Now it's impossible to unlock it again.
I removed the battery 5 times or so. Now it says: Enter Pin. But I can't the screen is dead. When I use the back button I get the background picture and the text who says: Phone Locked. But I can't sweep away the "glassscreen"...
I would (almost) be glad if someone else had this and we could figure out what is failing...
PS. This is my last writing in this matter, until someone else gets it. Now I removed the battery and strted the phone for maybe the 10th time since I started.
This time I didn't touch the phone for 1 minute maybe. And it works. I could enter the pin directly without unlock.
I'm much more near to start cry than laugh right now ;-)
It started happening maybe 2 days ago. Im running the newest version of Hyperdroid and have never had any problems. Whenever i turn my phone on and attempt to unlock it by either sliding the tab, turning the dial, or sliding the lense down, the screen doesnt respond to my touch. I have to try like 3 times before i can finally unlock my phone, its super annoying.
Anyone have a fix for this or advice?

Set my phone to "menu unlock" but when i put menu, the touchscreen wont work! It's getting really frustrating. Could the phone be going bad?
UPDATE: now my touchscreen wont work at all! pretty much my phone is useless now. anyone help?

Your digitizer is dead. If you are still under warranty, I suggest you flash back your WM stock and send your phone back in for repair. Unfortunately, there is no other way around this. Read here for more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12105680&postcount=1
I have tried over 4 different ROM's trying to get this...bug to stop. A lot of the time when I try to unlock my device, each time I slide to unlock, my screen goes black...and I have to keep unlocking my screen to get it to go to my home screen. This is so frustrating, it can take 20+ unlock attempts to get it to actually unlock. Is anyone else having this issue or does anybody know how I can fix this?
Never seen this... I use a pattern lock, but never seen anything like this on any Android device except once when my Nexus One was swamped with logging from a crappy app on the market, and it just simply wasn't receiving input.

I'm going to try wiping my device out completely and going back to stock to see if that solves it... sigh.
Wiped all data, flashed to stock....nothing. I also tried other lock screen styles like PIN and Password... same thing. Is this something I would be able to RMA for? Do I go through Gamestop or Asus for it?

I've been having this issue as well. I did a little digging, and it looks like it's usually due to the case. For some people, it's static buildup from the case. For me, it's because I have a case with a magnetic closure that turns off the screen when I close it. The magnet is pretty strong, so when I fold the front cover around the back of my Nexus 7, it can still turn off the screen immediately after I unlock it.
Try fiddling with your case when you have this issue. It might resolve the problem.

my touch screen is completely dead. my phone fell face down and shattered.
the problem is i have a pattern (dots) lock and cant even get the phone to recognize touch
when i hook it up to the PC it shows the phone but it wont show the mass storage until its unlocked.
how can get to it?

Is the phones bootloader unlocked? What android version are you on?
Bit of a strange request. The screen on my S7 Edge died today. Phone works fine otherwise. Problem is I use Android Pay to get on the train - no cards or money on me so I'm stuck. Android Pay only works if the phone is unlocked - now after a restart, it is asking me for the code (which is 4444) instead of the finger print - I just need to see where number 4 and OK is located on the numeric screen to unlock it, so if someone could post a screen grab, that would be helpful.

Did u damage ur phone before this? Why did the screen die all of a sudden?
