Just saw on the international forums that Mobile Odin support was just added for the i9505 as well as the Canadian variant, i337M.
I'm assuming that the reason it isn't available for our variant is because of the fact that our bootloader is still locked? I came to the S4 from the OG Note (for which Mobile Odin was never supported), so I'm unfamiliar with the ins and outs of the recovery...is it possible to patch it with loki and get it running on our device? Or are we SOL until someone is able to fully hack the bootloader?
Any insight would be appreciated!

Ya we r Sol unless boot loader unlock happens and by the recent news about the s4 active att ain't gunna let it happen since they patched the **** out of Loki on that device

Has it been confirmed that they patched Loki on the Active? Designgears has an Odin oneclick of the Active firmware and tweeted that he didn't think loki was blocked.
https://twitter.com/DesignGears/status/347826349353873409
But it needs to be rooted to check 100% which hasn't been done yet because they did block the root exploit.

Hasn't been 100% confirmed but if they blocked the root exploit most think they nabbed Loki too

Hey fellow XDA members, I have been searching for a way to
root and install a custom recovery on my I337M, but am slightly
confused about this phone, and I don't wanna screw it up.
First off I am on 4.3 - MVLUEMK6. I also have the Knox app.
Am I able to Root using a certain method? I tried Saferoot, but that was a
no go. I have also heard through my searches of "Kingo", which
I'm hoping to try, given it won't turn this S4 into a brick.
Also in the CF-Auto Root Thread, it states near the Downloads,
that AT&T users shouldn't use it, and go figure I'm on Telus. So also a no go..
Can this darn thing be rooted?!?

Thanks very much my good sir, I appreciate your insight on this!
the I337M (jfltecan) is NOT the same as the I337 (jflteatt)
i use a I337M (originally bell), cf auto root works perfect
your phone is the same as mine, use cf auto root and flash via odin on pc, it'll work
So I used motochopper when I first bought my S4 and it rooted my phone just fine. After updating to 4.4 kit kat I lost my root status and now I am getting this message about updating my binary code for super user. If anybody has any tips I would much appreciate it.
SGH i337

you can't direct root anymore
see the general section on the root workaround and downgrade threads by muniz and ted

Definitely not strange, specifically because our bootloader is locked and that one isn't. If our bootloader was unlocked we would have had root as soon as our update was released because Chainfire puts out his autoroot for unlocked S4's but we can't flash it since it isn't signed.

I've spent the past two hours looking for a root method for the vzw gs5 and it seems that we are waiting for someone to find an exploit to unlock the bootloader.

towelroot dot com Stupid forums wont let me post the link but try that This worked for my s5 G900V to root. No idea if any roms work for it yet omega didnt . But the root did and it was very easy.
Ha. I don't know how you are searching but there are several roots available. Your search missed an entire Verizon S5 sub-forum. With a how to root sticky thread at the top of the forum.
The "towel root" by Geohot is recommened for the 900V as the poster above suggested.
The Verizon bootloader is locked unlike most other carriers. So most are using Safestrap to cope with the locked bootloader and load a custom ROM.

The bootloader is locked, so it might as well be for Knox.

Is there any way to verify bootloader lock status?
Is maybe a noob question but I has been searching for a method to verify and didn't found any.
My device is i337m with ne1 bootloader.

I337m is not locked and won't be. All you have to worry about is Knox, and if you don't mind warranty void then it's not an issue.

I have a I337 too, but is still running stock 4.2.2 (mdl). Is it unlocked too? Or how can I know?

It is not unlocked. But there is an exploit, Loki, that gets around the locked bootloader. This only works on mdl firmware and does not work on newer versions.

New to xda. I need pointed in the right direction. I have a Samsung s5 and want to root it if possible.
Here is my info:
Carrier att locked
Model # Samsung-sm-G900A
Android version 5.1.1
Baseband version G900AUCU4CPA3
Kernel version 3.4.0-5869384 4/27/2016

I'm also trying to figure this out. I have seen posts claiming it's possible, but I can't even upgrade my same device from 4.4.1 to 5.1.1 how did you do it?
I think the bootloader gets locked once you upgrade to LP with AT&T S5s

Just learned this the hard way. Spent my entire day activating my service, flashing my firmware to get root... then in two minutes effed myself over by permanently removing root access with 5.1.1 great.
