Is there any way to verify bootloader lock status?
Is maybe a noob question but I has been searching for a method to verify and didn't found any.
My device is i337m with ne1 bootloader.

I337m is not locked and won't be. All you have to worry about is Knox, and if you don't mind warranty void then it's not an issue.

I have a I337 too, but is still running stock 4.2.2 (mdl). Is it unlocked too? Or how can I know?
Thanks:highfive:

It is not unlocked. But there is an exploit, Loki, that gets around the locked bootloader. This only works on mdl firmware and does not work on newer versions.

I'm running mf3 unfortunately and am looking to upgrade to 4.3 w/o using safestrap.
I'm rooted and am hoping to retain that feature.
I was wondering if I could upgrade to the latest mk2 att ROM then reroot or if the Knox would prevent me from doing so (or if this would just void my warranty).

Will this trigger the Knox in mk2? Should I rather stick with mf3 for the time being with maybe more chances to have an unlocked boot loader and get the ability to load custom Roms?
I know my options are pretty limited since being on mf3... Just trying not to screw myself over even further.

Well everyone is going to want to be able to have the boot loader locked on 4.3 on mf3 you got safestrap already so correct me if I'm wrong but some people are past trying to get the mf3 unlocked and are working on the 4.3 now.

Hmm that's interesting. I figured that unlocking the bootloader would be easier with an older version and that people that already started it on 4.3 would continue trying rather than starting back from scratch with a new bootloader.
Is there a new threat for the unlock status on mk2?
Follow this thread right here there's people just throwing out ideas to get the boot loader unlocked and people that are willing to try the ways to.

Hey guys so i have heard that if i install the old firmware for my s4 from sammobile using Odin one from early 2013 that it will give me access to service menu so that i can unlock my phone. So my question is that is it 100% safe to Odin flash the older 4.2.2 rom when i am on 4.3? Can i flash it unlock my phone then upgrade my phone to a custom rom again? Thank you

Do not do this. This will brick your phone. If I am not mistaken, there is a method to unlock mk2 in the general section.

You should ask this in the t mobile s4 forum. I believe your bootloader is unlocked and you can flash an older firmware version. But check there first. This is the att s4 forum. It can't be done on the at&t s4.
Is the service menu missing on the stock T-mo 4.3 ?
Nooo guys i have an unlocked bootloader i have the s4 that is very similar to the tmobile and it's the same as the Canadian versions. And yes the Canadian version which is 1337m and mine which is m919v don't have access to service menus but i have flashed a lot of custom roms simply by philz recovery so doesn't that mean i have an unlocked bootloader?

If you're on 4.3 I believe you also have Knox, in which case I don't think you'll be able to go back to 4.2.2. Read through this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40903040

Did you ever take the ota to 4.3? Do you know what firmware your device is on? A 4.3 custom Rom wouldn't have knox but if you took the official update to 4.3 you would have Knox.

Idk, I'm not that familiar with your device. From the little bit of reading I've done I would say no, you can't flash an older firmware. But again, I'd post this question in the t mobile forum. They'd be more familiar with your device.

Did you ever update you device with kies or ever take an over the air update ? It's fine if you were on a stock based 4.3 rom as long as you never took an official update. If so then you can't go back. Just flashing a stock 4.3 rom won't change that status but the 4.3 bootloader would.
You would have know by checking in settings under SE

I remember i soft bricked my phone one time and had to flash my firmware but the 4.3 latest one from sammobile and after i did that i got knox but i believe i already tripped the knox counter because in download mode it says 0x1 so i guess i cant?
Hey fellow XDA members, I have been searching for a way to
root and install a custom recovery on my I337M, but am slightly
confused about this phone, and I don't wanna screw it up.
First off I am on 4.3 - MVLUEMK6. I also have the Knox app.
Am I able to Root using a certain method? I tried Saferoot, but that was a
no go. I have also heard through my searches of "Kingo", which
I'm hoping to try, given it won't turn this S4 into a brick.
Also in the CF-Auto Root Thread, it states near the Downloads,
that AT&T users shouldn't use it, and go figure I'm on Telus. So also a no go..
Can this darn thing be rooted?!?

Thanks very much my good sir, I appreciate your insight on this!
the I337M (jfltecan) is NOT the same as the I337 (jflteatt)
i use a I337M (originally bell), cf auto root works perfect
your phone is the same as mine, use cf auto root and flash via odin on pc, it'll work
OMG!!!! After tons of reading for a way to check if my Bootloader is locked. I have gotten no result except to use safstrap for bootloader stuff or what not. I just want a straight answer to my question/s. A post should also be sticky about this.
My Phone BASEBAND is I337UCUAMF3
1.How do I know if my bootloader is unlocked or locked. When I go into download mode, will it say like bootloader=locked/unlocked or so.
2.If its locked. How do i unlock it. Secure or non secure. Just wanna install CWM/TWRP Recovery with updates straight from there site without a need for modification like safestrap. Wanna install custom roms A.S.A.P

Any AT&T I337 that's MF3, MK2, or NB1 has a locked bootloader so don't bother checking. So far there is no exploit, Devs are working on it and when they crack it it will be all over the S4 threads. Safe strap is the only way to run custom roms. Don't try to flash a custom recovery.

Thanks a lot for your speedy reply. So upgrading my Baseband to something else wont change the bootloader locked? I am also guessing every AT&T S4 comes bootloader locked then... In other words, would it be best i get my i9500 back since i don't have to worry about bootloader locked and brick and all that stuff that's currently making my i337 useless.
Yes every AT&T is locked, get your i9500 back.

Thanks a million. Now that was easy and straight forward. Someone should create a sticky thread of this topic with it close so no replies. Damn. Information was so hard to get but many thanks to you. It was a breeze.

I have a galaxy s4 att with nj4. Is there any way to unlock the bootloader and install lollipop? If not then why do developers develop lollipop if no one can flash them?

I once had a unlocked bootloader but was forced into upgrade to NJ4 and sorry to say there is no escape from the locked bootloader. I'm now running a updated version of SafeStrap 3.82 and there are a few that are working to get lollipop running for our device. However the talk is a kernel problem and that may take awhile.
I just wish they would kick out a official lollipop update. I've been on T-Mobile for over 10 years and ended up with this device because I won it. Wish I could afford to get rid of it and move to a T-Mobile device period.

Nope. You can blame AT&T for that (since they requested the locked bootloader for their version of the device). I got lucky with mine; when I got it, they said they would update it there in the store, but I told them to hold off because I could do it myself. That was the only thing that allowed me to custom firmware on my phone - that update they wanted to flash was MF3.
