Definitely not strange, specifically because our bootloader is locked and that one isn't. If our bootloader was unlocked we would have had root as soon as our update was released because Chainfire puts out his autoroot for unlocked S4's but we can't flash it since it isn't signed.

Hey fellow XDA members, I have been searching for a way to
root and install a custom recovery on my I337M, but am slightly
confused about this phone, and I don't wanna screw it up.
First off I am on 4.3 - MVLUEMK6. I also have the Knox app.
Am I able to Root using a certain method? I tried Saferoot, but that was a
no go. I have also heard through my searches of "Kingo", which
I'm hoping to try, given it won't turn this S4 into a brick.
Also in the CF-Auto Root Thread, it states near the Downloads,
that AT&T users shouldn't use it, and go figure I'm on Telus. So also a no go..
Can this darn thing be rooted?!?

Thanks very much my good sir, I appreciate your insight on this!
the I337M (jfltecan) is NOT the same as the I337 (jflteatt)
i use a I337M (originally bell), cf auto root works perfect
your phone is the same as mine, use cf auto root and flash via odin on pc, it'll work
Stock verizon note3 sm900v
Android 4.4.4
I'm not finding much in ways of options for root currently. Is it possible to flash my phone back to 4.4.2, root once there, then sideload 4.4.4? Using something like Odin maybe?

SM-N900V
I have tried everything to root my device: SM-N900V 4.4.4 KTU84P.N900VVRUDNK1
I haven't had any luck with the following:
Kingo
VRoot (IRoot)
Towel Root

Is there not a way to root a stock 4.4.4 SM-N900V yet? If not how can I downgrade to an OS that will work? Any leads would be great! :good:

Maybe this VIDEO helps you. It's for one sm-n900a.
Perhaps it would if i could find the corresponding files for the n900v. Any ideas where i can find them?
i found everything but this file:N900VVRUCNC4_N900VVZWCNC4_VZW.zip
Update
After some extensive searching i found the files and hope to attempt to downgrade according to video posted ^ with my SM-N900V. I found a great site for FW versions for anyone encountering this problem in the future: galaxynote3update
update
This method does not work on Verizon. I found the Verizon equivalent files and attempted this but got a SW REV CHECK fail when trying to download 4.4.2 FW. ATT must not have a version check in theirs. I have exhausted every method out there. Hoping someone comes up with a one click root for this configuration soon cuz not having root sucks
Did you ever succeed?
I just received a new Note 3 from my warranty company. I was hoping it would have 4.4.2 on it
but it has the same version as yours. I really could use root.
Any luck with your phone?
Hey you all
I have found a few pages on rooting our Verizon note 3 4.4.4. I do not know how to attach the link but if you look it up in XDA Verizon Note 3 you will find it there. Thanks to designgears.

Upon further research I found out that if your phone is n900vvrudnk1 it is not compatible to root. It seems that sammy has us under lock-down for now. If we upgrade to the lollipop 5.0 will this upgrade boot loaders also?
My phone is i9505 from At&T. It is not rooted, and I have upgraded to 5.0.1. How do I root my phone now? o.o Thanks.

If it's a real i9505, use CF Auto Root. Otherwise, if it's one of the many devices showing up with an i9505 ROM but i337 bootloader, you'll have to downgrade to 4.4 and use the keeproot method. Go in to download mode and it should tell you the real model.

Is there a method to root an updated Note 3 for Verizon yet? I have tried like 5 different methods with none of them working. Could I be missing a method that does work?

How the heck is this rooted then??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2760380
There is no root for 4.4.4 or above... yet. I'm not sure there will be, since everyone has moved on and Verizon does not plan to unlock the bootloader. Anyone currently rooted with a 4.4.4 or high ROM, stayed at 4.4.2 and then flashed a custom rom from there.

Pre rooted custom rom when they went to that rom they entered the danger zone. If anything requiring reflashing happens to it they can permanently loose root.
Please guys tell me there's a way to root the galaxy s5 for att smg 900a on lollipop version 5.0. If there's not should I upgrade to the latest firmware?
Thankd
You can't root g900a on Lollipop as of right now. AT&T locked the bootloader when they released 5.0 BUT.. you can downgrade your phone to KitKat. Then root it using Towelroot root and then flash a prerooted lollipop rom using flashfire Here is a link with a bunch of people that downgraded there g900a to KitKat and how they did it and worked around everything: http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s5/489071-tutorial-downgrade-samsung-galaxy-s5-5-0-4-4-kitkat-6.html This will help you out in starting the root process on your phone. You can also Google "Downgrade g900a KitKat".

This is not true. If you are running completely stock lollipop either becuase you purchased the phone with it on it, or you took the ota it is not possible to downgrade to KitKat, you will brick your phone. If you were rooted on KitKat, you can update to a prwrooted lollipop, which I am running now for example, and using that method allows you to downgrade as well with no issues so long as you don't take the ota. This only applies to the g900a.

Also not true.. You can downgrade your phone from 5.0 to KitKat DEPENDING on the version of bootloader. That will make or break the whole possibility of downgrading. Check the link I posted and read through the forum. It has been done by multiple people but the general consensus is if your phone's bootloader is past a certain version you're screwed for now and if you can't downgrade and root but you want to in the future I would suggest not updating for a while until there is a method of rooting your current version bootloader.

I did check the link you posted and only found people that tried it on a g900a unable to downgrade. There was no time that you could go from stock L to KK on the g900a.

To be quite honest dwade. You can save yourself a lot of headaches and stress by putting your phone on craigslist and getting yourself the g900f unlocked that way you can avoid all of these processes and the risk of bricking your phone lol If you're looking to root and get into modding your phone, AT&T & Verizon phones are the worst when it comes to locking things down.
Troubles rooting 900a with 4.4.4
I had problems using towelroot on a ATT branded 900a with 4.4.4. Any tips or links that can help me root to get rid of the Hotspot block?
Thanks in advance

It's certainly the case for the F variant that towelroot only works on 4.4.2 that was compiled before the end of June 2014......If there is a build that matches these conditions for the A variant, towelrooting may be possible.....If not, I guess you'll have to try CF Root or similar...
Edit.....check this thread......
