[Q] Better Sound on W.M.+ REQ. for .dll - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

How can I improve the audio of my device?
1---The volume is very poor and the quality is very bad.
2---Is there a patch or a sound driver?
3---Is there a software or an equalizer that can help me?
4---Android have "5.1" option for the surround, why it doesn't exist on W.M.?
5---Can anyone upload "Wavedev.dll" or "Waveapi.dll" files? (They are in the "Windows" folder)
6---Where can I download loud ringtones?
Thanks

I tryed the equalizer of CorePlayer but it's not good...

You should ask Microsoft this question.

Thanks, I found also others app like WOWHD but I don't remeber the name...
and if someone want to develop something for the sound and for the "5.1"...
Another question:
7---My device has 2 speakers for the audio: a Front one for the Telephone and a Back one for the System.
Is there a way to reproduce the audio of my video and my songs from the Front Speaker (that usually is used for calls) and not from the Back speaker?

Why on earth do you need 5.1 surround playback on your mobile device?
Does your device have a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor - the only one I know of that brings the 5.1 surround sound theatre experience to mobile devices? Watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=GZBs7XoJvMI
Anyways, Windows Mobile is a dead OS and I'm afraid NOONE of the developers here will be willing to make efforts in writing a new "wavedev" driver for Windows Mobile ...

Did a quick Google-search and immediately found a solution for HTC:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/windows-mobile-software/60239-audio-router-switching-speakers.html
Probably for other devices also a solution exist. GIYF ...

I know W.M. is an old O.S. but for me it will be forever the best
I can found anything I want (the article on PPCgeeks that is just what I was looking for)
You didn't understand me, Surround playback can used with headphones (also worst Android phone do it)
If anyone can answer my other questions in the 1st post ...

Here you go: http://www.findthatzipfile.com/search-44343300-hZIP/winrar-winzip-download-dumprombm.zip.htm

I use Kevintm_V4_puff601Regs_AudioPara3_LOUDEST.cab to boost the volume. Not the best for the phone and distorts sound sometimes... but I can hear it and I don't mind distortion.

Thanks eyeb, I will try it

TyTN - recording phone conversations

Do you know any software for Windows Mobile 5 to recording conversations automatically ? I have 1gb card , can record over 20 hours of quite good quality conversations.
Do you know any soft which will do it automatically after I answer or call to somebody ?

I have just looked on the Vito Technology site but on the PPC version it mentions nothing about telephone conversation recording so I am assuming it doesn't offer this feature on the PPC, just on Smartphones .. is this correct?

I've tried "Vito Audionotes" and "Resco Audio Recorder" and both got the same problem on TyTN; both only records your side so are useless...
Yes, it is a problem Viva, the way I have got round this is by using the Tytn headphones to make a call but I just wear one earpiece in my ear and I hold the other earpiece next to the inline microphone (you could even tape it there).
I have only ever used the inbuilt note recorder before so when I saw this thread I was hoping that there was 3rd party software out there that would record the other side of the conversation automatically so I wouldn't have to do it this way.
Anyway, thought I would mention my method in case it helps anyone
How about this
http://1800message.com/products.aspx

1) Download either or both of applications below - NOTE: PM Recorder will only work with some Smartphones, not Pocket PC Phone Edition devices.
what is the differebce between PPC Phone and Smartphone ?
I thought my TyTN is a Smartphone but now I think it's a PPCPhone ..
So, there is nothing which can record conversations. It's a pity , phone with so big storage should have this option built-in... what you think ?
The option with some server which will keep my records it's not good for me, I wouldn't let anybody to send my conversations anywhere..
Ok, I will be still looking for some solution and let you know if find any..
Cheers guys.
Yes, TyTn is a PocketPC phone. The most obvious difference is that Smartphones do not have a touchscreen and have a numeric pad.
My C500 (Typhoon) Smartphone wouldn't record telephone conversations either, so I don't think that it's PPC specific. The incoming call simply isn't passed through the OS for it to be recorded.
I read somewhere (sorry, can't remember where) that it was a conscious decision by Microsoft as some operators didn't want that functionality and they were trying to get as many operators onboard as possible. But Nokias can record conversations - even without a beep notification to the caller - so this info may not be correct.
Guys, please DO use the forum serach engine. I've long answrred these question in ALL call recording-related threads started before June 2006.

LivePVR
Moi herra Ruotsalainen. Your article doesn't mention LivePVR from Softtrends. I tried it and it works, but not for the purpose I wanted it. I am looking for a proper answering machine for WM5, like SmartAnswer I had on my old Nokia 6600.
Hmm...
LivePVR does not work in recording phine calls. They finally admitted this on the handango product page, too. You will need to use it in "speaker" mode like all others... Its just technically not possible.
Well, I have just read the article about recording via the speakerphone but I still prefer my method which I mentioned earlier in this thread.
My method records both sides of the conversation, I think the recording I get is better quality than when you record via speakerphone and the conversation remains private ... I am quite happy with my workaround
When I have wizard, i use SPWM5CallRec.cab (somewhere on the forum) and ....hmm it's record all? (don't remember for 100%).

It will not record the other party's voice, as has already been pointed out in my article (see link above).
However, i's still teh best call recorder app available for the PPC, particularly if you use the WAV postconverter I've discussed in the article.

They did false advertising? Everyone who paid for that pretty crapy app could sue them for that. After all, the day after they've released LivePVR I've pointed out in my review it's NOT able to record the other party. That is, they were surely able of the app's inability of this.

The extend of my test was one phone call. I realise now that I did the test with the speaker on.
Microphone picking up the sound from the speaker . . . bleeding edge, huh?
So finally...
I started this thread once again , I know, there is a lot about that on this forum. I just wanted to put this in to TyTN section, because I was dreaming that this model has no hardware restriction and maybe somebody wrote good app for recording phone calls.
I see, it's still impossible to do that on such a gadgetty mobile phone...
It's a pity....
If anybody find the solution please continue this thread or even send me a message please.

I'm continuously pushing the issue in internal MS forums. Hopefully HTC / MS changes its approach and does implement what Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens etc have been offering for 7-8 years.

Maybe you should ask an admin if there could be a special section for the T-Mobile Wing (HTC Atlas). Keep in mind that a lot of tips and tweaks are already available for similar devices

I would like it for the main speaker personally. I don't think the volume of the handset's speaker is bad. More so I want to hear it when I have an incoming call but I don't think it would hurt to have something that controls all that can be adjusted.

WOW, the main speaker is TOO loud in my case. Maybe your settings are off.
Another fix is making your own ringtones and tailoring the sound for more high
end. I'm sure you noticed how TV commercials ALWAYS seem louder, well it's
how they choose the sound mix do get that "loudness". I make all my
ringtones and they're bloody loud.

In - Call Recording

Hello everyone - Can someone who has an HD test out the incall recording software and perhaps post an audio file.
This is a key feature that I'm looking for as my nokia currently has this feature.
And no, it's necessary for my career, i'm not a pervert who goes around recording conversations for kicks
Discussed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442220
Lucas - thanks for the link to hte other thread...
however, what i'm trying to establish is whether the HD allows for in call recording without the use of speakerphone.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry, thought this was clear from my other posts - no possible on HTC devices.
sorry, but i can't agree with that opionion. Some time ago i've got Asus P750 and it was possible to record conversations without turning on speakerphone.
Ok, edited my post, selected non-HTC devices supported it in the past, but no current HTC ones. End of story.

Surur is correct - Like hte HTC Advantage, the hardware is slightly different on the touch HD allowing software access to both earpiece and outgoing mic audio. Therefore, one can record conversations without hte use of the speakerphone.
I just need to establish what the quality is like of the recording and what featrues are built into the software.

Tried audionotes. Failed. Other party is not recorded.
so what exactly then does the in call recording feature do? Anyone have any more insight into this issue?
Now that investor Mark Cuban has a major insider trading case in the U.S. centered around a phone conversation, maybe a call recording software for WinMobile and other systems would come in handy. This one records speaker output and your input - speaker output is ok but not great - but hey, sometimes you might wish you had at least a audible recording - a wav file that could be enhanced later. Works on HD. http://dontknowme.at/http://www.nch.com.au/trx/index.html

It is a software that automatically fires up itself whenever a call is connected, and it records your phone conversation, so that you don't need to take down notes on a piece of paper. It creats audio files that you can go back to listen to, and serves as a record or proof of your conversation with the other party.
Well, at least there is the last resort of turning on the speaker phone. Audio Note will surely work if you do that.
But I hope we can find something that can record when the embedded earpiece is used.
Should clarify that with the Trx offering other party is audible without turning on the speaker.
Does anybody have a program "In Call Recording" in HD? Look at http://www.theunwired.net/?item=videoview-hands-on-with-the-htc-touch-hd-windows-mobile-smartphone time 11:50, ICR icon. Thank you.
just letting you know that I use Audio Notes Touch for this (on my Omnia) - works superbly
- no need to be on speakerphone mode
- can record calls automtically even when Audio Notes Touch is not open
- AVLS
- can be used as a notetaker/sound-recorded

Call recording - does Touch HD's hardware allow?

As title really.
I've done a search on the forum and it seems there is software available that will record calls, but this will only work if the hardware itself supports it. Does anyone know if the Touch HD will work with any software to support call recording?
The other work around I discovered doing a search on the forum was to put the phone into speakerphone mode and use call recording software, but this is obviously not ideal.
So, what's the best way to record calls on the Touch HD?
Thanks

You got it in one. Thats currently the only way.
Not quite
Resco Audio recorder works fine for me, once configured it collects all calls as mp3's in a folder of your choice (e.g. on sd).
it's not freeware though, but no speaker needed.
Not technically sure about the Blackstone, but I have both a Polaris and Raphael. I've seen comments about both of those phones being unable to record, yet I've never had a problem recording with VITO Audio Notes (without using the speakerphone trick). It's also a commercial product. If both of those phones can do it, I would suspect the Blackstone is probably also capable.

Don't know what to tell you, I just made a call 5 minutes ago on that phone, and without turning on the speakerphone it's still got both voices on there. The other side's voice is much lower volume, but it can't be sound bleeding over because it also works when I'm using a bluetooth headset.
