To keep it brief i need help and a step by step on what todo. Can anybody help a fellow d2 user out? I was scared just rooting it even more now figuring out how to add custom rom. If i made the nandroid backup do i still have to use titanium backup to backup everything not sure how all that works or am i good with just the nandroid?
I'm also confused at this step you mentioned :
Select wipe data/ factory reset confirm Yes-- delete all user data
select wipe cache partition confirm Yes- Wipe Cache
Also does installing a rom take about the same time as making a nandroid?
I ask because my battery isnt really good. It was fully charged when i started the nandroid backup and after it's completion it was 50%.
Wouldn't factory reset delete all data even from sd card making the backup disappear?
Apologies for the nooby questions i'm just trying to do everything correct and learning at the same time. Scared abit lol.

So should i save the nandroid to computer and just backup everything with titanium?
I only made the nandroid because of the step on your guide and also been reading its always good to make one.
Titaniium + Nandroid = Basically same thing?
no they are not the same,
a nandroid create a snapshot image of the phones system, restoring it, will restore every system file and user file
normally you only restore a nandroid after trying another rom, and decided to go back
titanium backups apps and app data
also can backup other data if selected

Ah i see. So if i ever decide to take off rom and go back to how things were before i would use nandroid backup as the source to do that?
In the mean time it is fine if i save the nandroid backup on my computer or is it something that i have to keep on sd card?
yes you if you don't like a rom, just boot to cwm, and wipe data/cache and restore nandroid, will reboot like nothing ever happened
if you are trying to save space moving nandroid to pc is fine, alot easier to have on sd card

I'm having a few problems. I cant find google play, and it keeps telling me to activate phone. It's a wifi only phone not in service i know how to bypass activation screen but still shows up and no google play help please on that.
Also doesnt ask me to sign into my google. Did i do something wrong?
Like all of my google apps are gone.
I was able to install the Google apps now everything is fine. However after I used titanium backup to install my apps n data. Everytime I try to access Google play it just force closes me. Any ideas on why this happens?

So. My 4G data (Sprint, S4. Rooted, but stock ROM and such) stopped working. Updated PRL and Profile. It works for a minute and stops. Restore backup. It works then stops after 5 mins. Update prl and profile in the Sprint app, it works and then stops 1 minute later.
Did a factory reset (still rooted) and it worked for a while. Came home, connected to wifi. Decide to try it now and it's out.
I also had the hotspot mod installed. Used it a bit last night.
Could it be the hotspot mod or root? Or an app issue?

Oh good, I'm not the only one! Happened to me today as well, exact same setup (rooted, stock ROM, hotspot mod). I also factory reset and got it working again, but mine is still connecting, it's just slow as ****.
If you find a reason/solution elsewhere, please LMK.
If it matters, I am now showing as Custom in status and in download mode.

I unrooted. Going to factory reset now. Is there any way to get back to stock recovery?

MDL. Updated in the Sprint store at first. I can't find the file for MDL. I assume I would place it in... PDA? Which slot in odin?
So now that I'm unrooted, I would flash that first? Is there a stock MDL to flash?
In other words, on MDL, can I just use the one click MDC package after unrooting to go back to that? It appears that it restores stock recovery too.
Here is a link to stock recovery http://d-h.st/Ube flash in Odin use the pda option auto reboot and f reset time. Then boot in to recovery by powering off and holding power and volume up until you see recovery booting in the left corner then let go. Then do a factory reset and cache wipe. If all else fails once booted up in android dial ##72786# it will reactivate your phone it fixed some of my connectivity issues.

Both me and the other guy in this topic on the same day and same conditions though? Seems somewhat odd.
Same areas? Maybe towers are going through maintenance. I know my tower near my house did. I was at dinner in a high 4g signal area and I only had1 bar of 3g. Very unusual for this area. As I left the restaurant it took forever to update to more bars and wouldn't connect to 4g for a few miles. Same issue? Idk. I'm in Michigan. I do know towers are still under testing phase here. Maybe for you guys too? Just because you have 4g doesn't mean the tower is official and out of test phase.

Hello xda-dev,
I'm having trouble finding somebody else with a similar situation as mine:
So I picked up my new I337 from Costco this week. While using it throughout the week, I was very unfortunate as to allow the MF3 update from ATT to successfully update on my device. (This is the part where I cry because I can't install GE or custom bootloaders)
While doing some more research, I finally used this method to get root access after which I got Titanium Backup to remove the stock ATT bloatware.
I then proceeded to carefully un-install about a dozen or so applications most of which were ATT garbage.
Now maybe I uninstalled something crucial, or maybe certain applications need the ATT bloatware to run correctly, but my problem now is that Music and S-Voice both crash moments after starting them, so I would like to re-install my OTA MF3 update.
I understand that I have no shot downgrading or installing custom boot loaders at the moment, but I know that the MF3 rom seems to be available here.
Is there any risk in me getting Odin and attempting to install the rom using down+home+power way? (Sorry don't know the name for this procedure yet.)
I have come to peace with being stuck on MF3, but at the same time I would like to regain full functionality of my S-Voice and Music.
How would I go about safely re-installing my OS?
Using titanium backup, set both programs to be user apps, reboot, and switch back to system apps. Worked for me with Svoice, Smusic, and a few other programs. No more "Unfortunately xxxx has stopped" messages.

EDIT: This should be the link for the original thread about this problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282959
Thank you so much, Doymecca.
This works for me... to an extent. S-Voice will only continue to run if I keep it as a user app.
Still no luck with the Stock Music player.
Will check the other threat now for a solution regarding a complete OS wipe.

EDIT: Here us a thread about wiping dalvik
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752390
I have tried wiping the "cache partition" as well as "wipe data/factory reset" from the stock recovery boot menu with no result.
Also I'm not sure, but I don't think I can wipe the Dalvik without a custom bootloader?? (Even after reading around, I don't understand the difference between Dalvik and what I have tried.)
EDIT: I really think, the reinstall would be my best option. I'm most curious to know if I'm at risk of bricking my device if I try to restore the MF3 rom from the earlier thread.
I could be wrong but I don't think you could flash that without a custom recovery.

Just so its clear, you can NOT flash the rom in your link. Luckily, you won't be able to since you don't have a custom recovery. Trying to put a recovery on and flashing that rom could cause irreparable damage to your phone. You're mf3 and are severely limited to what you can do.
If you continue to mess with tibu, freeze the apps, don't delete them. That way if you mess something up you can get them back
You extract the contents of that ROM, and a manually add in the missing apps until your problem dissapears (will prob have to change permissions on each added app to "rw-r-r" and reboot for apps replaced apps to take effect)
That should work...and next time use titanium back up to actually back up, than freeze apps reboot see if there's any problems...if none than uninstall

Just to add to their arguments, absolute no flashing with odin on the MF3. Period. You will definitely mess something up. I'm thinking you altered the system recovery by getting rid of some stuff. You are going to have to wait until the devs come out with something.

Oh my god. You are such a life saver. So I flashed that correct software onto my phone, now I don't have the problems anymore! Also, it seemed to not wipe my data, apps, or anything else......Was it suppose to?
I odined L720VPUFNAE_L720SPTFNAE_SPR.zip a couple of days ago, it gave me a clean system. That's what it was supposed to do. Then I rooted and install recovery, installed a Custom ROM (MIUI), and found battery couldn't be charged when phone was completely powered off... Frustrated, so I decided to go back to stock NAE..
Flashed the same file: L720VPUFNAE_L720SPTFNAE_SPR.zip again using Odin today. System crashed after 4.4.2 was booted up. Keeped giving me these dialogs at this NEW system:
"Unfortunately contacts has stopped"
"Unfortunately the process COM.ANDROID.PHONE has stopped"
I clicked "OK" on the dialogs, they kept coming up, just wouldn't go away.. I couldn't do anything with these stupid errors...
I am confused, why a STOCK ROM still had issue? Isn't it supposed to wipe any data/partitions from previous
ROM(s)?
It doesn't wipe any data from previous ROM you have to go to recovery and do a factory reset.

Thanks for the answer. Somehow, I was able to enter the recovery mode and wipe data from there. Thanks!!
