Odined Stock NAE, then system crash - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I odined L720VPUFNAE_L720SPTFNAE_SPR.zip a couple of days ago, it gave me a clean system. That's what it was supposed to do. Then I rooted and install recovery, installed a Custom ROM (MIUI), and found battery couldn't be charged when phone was completely powered off... Frustrated, so I decided to go back to stock NAE..
Flashed the same file: L720VPUFNAE_L720SPTFNAE_SPR.zip again using Odin today. System crashed after 4.4.2 was booted up. Keeped giving me these dialogs at this NEW system:
"Unfortunately contacts has stopped"
"Unfortunately the process COM.ANDROID.PHONE has stopped"
I clicked "OK" on the dialogs, they kept coming up, just wouldn't go away.. I couldn't do anything with these stupid errors...
I am confused, why a STOCK ROM still had issue? Isn't it supposed to wipe any data/partitions from previous
ROM(s)?

It doesn't wipe any data from previous ROM you have to go to recovery and do a factory reset.

Thanks for the answer. Somehow, I was able to enter the recovery mode and wipe data from there. Thanks!!

[Q] CM10.1.2 Bootloop

I was having a ton of problems with my Nexus 4, like i mean a TON
so I decided to just fix it and factory reset my phone. I rooted it with the nexus 4 tool kit and flashed TWRP. I found the CM10.1.2 zip and the 4.2.2 GAPPS. Flashed the ROM, then the GAPPS, then cleared both caches and Rebooted my phone. It is stuck at the spinning CM circle boot logo forever (I even left it on all night). I tried flashing CM10.1.0 with the 4.2.2 GAPPs same process and still in a boot loop. WTH is going on. I'm so frustrated. My phone was wiped clean and the only app I have is a file explorer besides the preinstalled Google apps.
Help.
I made a backup of when I freshly rooted my phone so I don't have to keep rooting when I enter recovery to get away from the boot loop
Before you flash the ROM did you do factory reset? Go into twrp do a factory reset then flash ROM and gapps then reboot it shouldn't take more then 5 mins for it to boot

I answered your post. The point of XDA is to share development work and learn how it works but if you're using a toolkit and not reading you'll never learn that's why you've had "a ton of problems" and don't know how to fix it

Sorry I never saw your reply. Thanks for replying. I did a factory reset from the settings menu NOT from within TWRP. And the toolkit is not to blame because I've used it plenty of times before and has not caused any problems. All it does is root my phone.
Umm you need to wipe within twrp before you flash. You're bootlooping because you only did a factory reset which only deletes cache and stuff. Wipe from within twrp and then flash

I wiped from within TWRP, rebooted and then my attenas were not working again. I could at least see the networks in my area but I could never connect on WiFi- it kept saying "Authenticating". It also said "No Service" for my 3G.
I booted back into TWRP and went into the advanced options for wiping and selected everything besides some "usb" thing and I think I deleted my OS -__- . I'm an idiot I should really not do what I don't know. I'm just going to flash stock ROM (4.2.2) with the Nexus 4 Tool Kit and see if things improve.
Thanks for your help.
In twrp if you're flashing a different always do the advanced wipe in order to clear the previous rom. Doing the basic wipe in twrp has the same effect of factory reset from earlier

[Q] Unlocked padlock and reboot issue s4

hi,
i have an att s4 that randomly switched my boot image to an unlocked padlock with the word custom under it. once that happened, it stopped being able to reboot.
the phone now has to be completely ereased (internal memory) and wipe system, cache, dalvik cache and date then install the rom plus gapps to turn on.
i did nothing to th phone other than switch roms once and i belive i went from cm 10.2 to a slimbean to test it out or something. now it will not restart and i am running omni 4.4.1 because thats the last thing i found on my sd.
hep!!!!!
Sounds like you did a full data wipe instead of a factory reset when changing ROMs... That is always a no no. I am not sure how to fix it short of using Odin to go completely back to stock and starting over.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Already tried that and the phone won't let it book the first time. It says that system is. It supported by Att or something. A yellow triangle thing comes up.
You have to read the OP of triangle away. That is part of the process on the S4.

stuck in a boot loop

need some help guys. im stuck in a bootloop. I used QBKING;s videos to root and install a custom recovery. this all went flawless. I then used his video to get native hotspot working and this is where it began. Upon completion my first boot hung on the sprint boot animation. I pulled the battery and booted into recovery to restore my nandroid that was a stock rooted nandroid i did before the attempt to get hotspot working. now my phone just bootloops at the galaxy s4 screen. How can i get out of this? is my only option to install a custom rom? I am on mk2 and can get into recovery and download mode if this helps.
Ive tried wiping cache, dalvik and doing a factory reset with the same results.
just tried installing a stock rooted deodeked rom also a 4.3 mk2 rom. and im still bootlooping.
can someone send me a link to an unrooted stock 4.3 mk2 tar that i can flash in odin...im having trouble finding it

i just finished the flash through odin...im not sure if it takes a while to boot after the flash, but it appears that i am stuck at the sprint boot animation...any ideas?
edit: just booted to the lock screen and give me an error message saying that "unfortunately the process android.process.acore has stopped" and then it reboots again...this is my new boot loop.
UPDATE: I decided to reflash the stock unrooted .tar again. it went through the boot process and took a long time on the sprint boot animation, but it did continue to boot into android. THANKS...my heart beat and blood pressure are now back to normal. LOL

If you still want to unlock the hotspot, you will find the correct files for the MK2 software in post 337 of the hot spot mod thread in the android development section. If you use a version that doesn't match your current software version you will get another bootloop.

i337 com.android.phone Carbon ROM

HI All,
I have an issue with installing the carbon rom."CARBON-KK-NIGHTLY-20141012-0230-jflte" along with "gapps-kk-20140606-signed". After using safestrap to install the rom it boots to a message of "Unfortunately, the processing com.android.phone has stopped." I am unable to click on anything but ok and I am stuck in a loop. I do a factory reset and it doesn't change anything. I am on a Samsung S 4 on AT&T. I screwed up and deleted a backup so now I'm stuck with i337ucufni1 stock and it is running android 4.4.2. I tried to install a different kernel but the only one that would install is "Jeboo_Kernel_i337_v3_1-i" and then the factory wipe again. Still no results. I also tried to install "occam-jdq39-factory-345dc199" and "iX-TW-4.3-jf-Kernel-v0.7c" I also tried some of the older nightly carbon roms.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am using the stock rom slot. But I just tried one of the other rom slots. When the phone boots it just the stock rom still. I even formatted data and it didn't change.

Try another rom, wipe cache.

If you're not on MDL base you'll have to run a safestrap compatible ROM. I don't think carbon falls under that category.

Nexus 4 Stuck on boot animation (with multiple type of rom)

Good evening guys, i have my nexus 4 dead.....
I had a lollipop official factory image installed on my n4... After some week of usage (with 0 problems) I drained my battery to 0 and since then, i had the annoyng bootloop on lollipop dots on booting.
What i did:
Restored to factory and deleted cache using the recovery system, no results
Installed TWRP, cleaned the cache and all the other stuff, no results
Installed CWM, cleaned the cache and all the other stuff, no result
Installed a fresh and new factory image, no results, sometimes the device is stuck on the dots, somethimes download the app and it locks on "Android starting app"
Rooted, then installed cyanogen 12, same, sometimes the device is stuck on the blue cyanogen logo, somethimes download the app and it locks on "Android starting app"
So now, what i can try???
It can be an hardware problem?? But what kind of hw problems?
Thanks in advance for the possible solution,
Petar
No one has every kind of tips or trick for me?

I will try this evening with the 4.4 but i'm very dubious on the results.... I will let you know
I just need to wipe the Cyanogen mod, then flash the factory over it, right?
Just reboot your phone in bootloader, connect it to pc and run the flash-all.bat and let it do its thing..
Flashed the 4.4.4 factory image ... Same issue, system won't boot.
It's locked on the annoying flying dots....
What can i try?????

Nothing change.... Now the phone is stuck on the animation, it never goes on the "upgrading android app" screen
Nobody has some kind of suggestion for my problem??
How long did it take to flash? It might be possible fastboot isn't installing the ROM properly...
