Hi,
If I was to flash Task's AOKP for example will I lose all those samsung air view and other features? Or are those built in to the phone and also id I flash those would it give the phone extra internal storage. Hypothetically saying what is taking up the space is the samsung firmware so if the custom rom took that away shouldnt it make the phone have more storage?
Thank you!

Flashing aokp or any other custom ROM will not give you more internal storage.. That's on Samsung's end and supposedly they are working on improving the amount of available memory.. And no you won't have any air view, air gestures, smart screen, or ir blaster.. The drivers/software are proprietary to Samsung.. Ir blaster MAY work once the aosp Google edition s4 is released and that's only if the ir blaster even works in that edition

Hello Forum!
I am a new proud SPH-L720 owner, and I have managed to get my phone rooted and TWRP running and a backup logged.
My question is, in selecting roms -- which ones will support the Samsung Apps, and why? Any and all insight is welcome.
May I restore them from my nandroid backup in Titanium Backup? Must the ROM be a MF9? May I restore certain system files from my stock/rooted to make it work?
Thanks!
To clarify, can Samsung Apps work with an AOSP ROM, and do AOSP ROMs have the capability to support special features like Air Gesture and Screen Pause, etc..
Once again, any and all info is appreciated!

I believe that by installing an AOSP ROM, you will lose any Samsung TouchWiz features like Smart Scroll, Air Gestures, and even IR remote control capabilities. It may be supported in the future although not guaranteed. And to be honest Im not much of a custom rom dude like I used to be,although there are many that are pretty awesome. Just head on over to the rom threads and check them out.. You wont be disappointed with all the great developers we have here...
GS4 Stock Rooted MJA 4.3,Philz Touch CWM,HotSpot Mod,Transparent Weather Widget...
Thanks! I have tested a few rooms and have settled on the SACS 4.3 ROM which is indeed Touchwiz!
Custom roms are nice, but AOSP sacrifices the gesture capabilities. I was able to install a few Samsung apps such as Watch On and the I worked with both CM 11 and a few other AOL roms.
Hello all,
I just bought the Note 3 and i was wondering if the custom roms (specially CM) have the full ability to use the s-pen including the notes and/or other related apps.

thats depend on room itself
most of roms support S-pen ( i dont know if CM support or not cuz my note 3 is Exynos)
may be you should ask in CM threat for Note 3 LTE
Thanks @Saif96,
I was expecting that since the whole idea of the Note series is using the s-pen
Iinstalled CM11 UnofficialbyTesmarek. And no. There is absolutely no support.Because it all needs the Samsung based touchwiz framework....
The pen works absolutely fine. But all samsung based features are missing....You need Samsung based Custom Roms.
Try Echoe Rom (iwill try this next) it looks close to the X-Note Rom which is dead on XDA but search for nonsolosmartphone and X-Note build 20...

Samsung based....
Hey guys, so i have got the i9505 and i have a few questions about it.
1: It's pretty laggy but i really do like the look of the s4 touchwiz, are there any tweaks/mods that I can do to increase performance? 2nd option is me installing a rom, any recommendations?
2: I know it's pretty far-fetched but is their like an app where you can install apps on but it's sort of like a cloud storage so you dont have to install the app on your device or sd-card. I don't think there are but if it is possible it would be epic. If there are no apps like that, is there an option to automatically save app data to a cloud storage (yeah i have titanium backup pro, but i dont think when you put your files in dropbox/google drive it will actually read them from dropbox/google drive. And when you sync app data with dropbox/google drive i dont think it removes the files of your sd card.
So if someone knows something about these 2 topics I'd like a reply
Thanks for reading,
See the custom roms are on preference.
Few like the touchwiz based roms.
Others like pure android. (CM AOSP PW Mahdi etc etc)
Touchwiz roms are beautified by the devs. We have to apply themes on CM/AOSP to get the beauty and can change it as and when we like.
CM/AOSP roms have better update support. A touchwiz dev might just abandon the project after a few updates.
Plus CM/AOSP based roms use less ram than touchwiz roms.
On the other hand, TW based roms are a boon for the i9505 people. Those who dont want to trip the knox counter can flash a few TW based roms without tripping knox!!
And TW based roms bring out the real beauty and 0% bloat and lag on the TW launcher and additional aspects.
It is all on preferences. You can check the i9505 Android Development and i9505 Original Android Development thread for your picks
I was a TW rom lover too, till I flashed a CM11 based rom
You can get the TW feel on CM11 bdw
"If someone helps, never forget to hit thanks ? "
Thanks i'll search for some ROMs then
Hi,
Can anyone running a touchwiz based lollipop rom say whether the Samsung camera app allows you to save photo's to the ext sd card ? I know the non-samsung roms (CM etc) don't but I'm a bit confused as to what can and can't be done on the Samsung version of lollipop.
Cheers

Thanks for the quick reply. So if the Samsung stock camera can save to SD on Lollipop.. why do other non-Samsung Lollipop ROMs seem to be deficient in this area
...or is my info out of date (and other LP ROM's are also capable now?)

i received a S5 and of an debt and i will use it, Im a motorola user and im used with rom's like "minimal ROM" with everything ripped, There are any ROM for S5 duos like that?
Thanks
You can use any touchwiz based rom and remove features you don't want at installation. Try epsilon for example that what i used.
If you don't want touchwiz at all, you can just flash aosp or cm rom, it removes all samsung features.

I hate this touchwiz, i will try this epsilon, it work the fingerprint?
Why its so dificult find a clean ROM for samsungs, touchwiz + bloatware sux Hahahah
Thanks
You can choose what stock features to leave, and fingerprint is one of them, so yes you can make fingerprint work.
There is also XtreStoLite which consists in a very debloated rom (500mb or so) and in an add-on which has every samsung feature from wich you can chose only those you need (like fingerprint or one hand mode). An the battery life its just...amazing. Minimal rom...maximal batt.
