Sorry, but you can't mention the name of banned roms here. Anyway, try to install USB drivers for Galaxy Y here. If you can boot your phone, enable USB Debugging in Settings> Applications> Development. Make sure to download stock firmware from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465800 and flash it via Odin.

Banned roms are ROMs that are banned by xda members. It is caused by violating xda rules. Example, Jellyblast rom were banned because Avijit (creator) linking to a download which took you to an ad site and Nemesis is banned because containing warez and steal other's work.
better to install kies first

Question:
Is this your first time flashing Odin?
Yes: Then first install KIES, but your stock driver is preferable (you know.. the one that comes with the box) to avoid incompatibilities, the install odin; i personally use Odin3 v1.85 and it has never failed me once.. and I have tried almost every ROM and kernel for Y. Close KIES before flashing.
No, I have done this before: Did you try another USB port or another computer? Assuming you didnt interchange the 3 files when flashing, did you remove the battery and let the fone discharge for atleast 1 minute and also did you remove the SD card. Sometimes there are files and script from your custom Roms that messes with odin so remove SD card prior to flashing.
There is another method you can do, I myself have used this twice to get out of a quite sticky softbrick... but I do not recommend it, Using a totoro pit file. If all other method fails this will MAY get you out
1. after placing PDA, MODEM and CSC... put the totoro pit file on "PIT", LEAVE BOOTLOADER ALONE!!!
2. Click repartition and NOTHING ELSE!!!
3. Click start
4. Hope for the best:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

As stated by a user above that make sure adb, kies ,any software that uses ur phobes usb is not running....
In odin make sure re-partition is disabled and dont use a pit file
All u need to use is pda, csc, phone,
Not even bootloader
Check whether the usb is nit interupted by anything during the flash...

Hello guys,
I am trying to install CWM recovery. As you certainly know the easiest way is by flashing the file via Odin.
Thing is I'm having a hard time trying to do what might look easy at first glance.
When opening Odin 3.09 as administrator, it is able to recognize my rooted 9505 (I'm on Samsung stock firmware) whenever I'm in download mode, but after selecting the corresponding CWM file and clicking Start, I get the following:
<ID:0/005> Added!!
<ID:0/005> Odin v.3 engine (ID:5)..
<ID:0/005> File analysis..
<ID:0/005> SetupConnection..

<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
<ID:0/005> Removed!!
<ID:0/005> Added!!
I tried flashing the PIT partition file for my phone model, but I also get this:
<ID:0/005> Odin v.3 engine (ID:5)..
<ID:0/005> File analysis..
<ID:0/005> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/005> Initialzation..
<ID:0/005> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/005> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/005> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
<ID:0/005> Removed!!
I tried flashing the files independently and both at the same time. It always failed.
What can i do? I really don't know what else should be done to fix this.
I'm getting
Secure Check Fail: apnhlos
when I try to flash any PDA-compatible file in Odin.
What does that even mean? Android sure has some of the most cryptic error messages I have ever seen.

Don't forget to exit, or better yet uninstall, Kies... This can affect flashing too...

The thing is that i have managed to actually root the phone via Odin using CF Auto root ( I had to click "Start" twice, but i ended up successfully rooting the phone)
I just don't know what I'm doing wrong this time around that it's preventing it from flashing files
Any more ideas? Cheers.

Same problem here, the only difference is I was just doing a firmware update via Odin and something went wrong (I don't know what). The phone says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again" but Kies is not recognizing the phone.
Please help!
Hello,
I tried flashing a Modem (MH5) in Mobile Odin, but it hanged at
----- Modem #2 -----

for 20 minutes. I turned the phone off and wanted to try again, but the phone doesn't finish booting. It boots for a minute and I can see the boot animation of my rom, but then it reboots on its own.
Then I wanted to flash the modem with the normal Odin but that also doesn't work.
This is what it says:

I still get into the recovery, but there are no flashable modems for the i9505.
What do I do now?
Okay, I found a PIT file from here:

port 3 and port 8???
what is happening? change usb port and disable kies and antivirus from task manager, reset odin. repeat procedure
Do you have any device connected to your pc other than your android? If Odin recognized more than 1 com, probably there are other device connected via USB or kies is interfering with odin.
I had the same problem. I tried different USB port and newer version of odin and that did the job.
Sent from my GT-I9505G using xda app-developers app
It had nothing to do with the USB Port.
After flashing the PIT file failed the phone displayed the message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue . Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again".
Then I downloaded a stock Rom and flashed it in combination with the PIT File on the same USB port as before and it succeeded. After that I flashed TWRP again and I could restore my backup. It was a long process, but my phone is working fine again.
After restoring my backup I could also flash the new modem and now I have better reception.
Got the same situation (Odin flashing failure, PIT error, ended up with the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in Kies & try again") trying to flash a new modem.
When I change the cable AND usb port, everything goes OK. Run Odin (the same 3.07), connect my i9505 with the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in Kies & try again" and just flash the modem again, it works now.

Mine was a USB issue. Tried rebooting my laptop, phone, changed usb port, then finally changed USB cable and it worked ok.
Flashed PIT file with firmware.
SOLVED!
SOLVED changing usb cable and port. used the original cable with another usb port and it worked fine.
As the title says, I tried to downgrade from lollipop 5.0 to 4.2 because I've had several issues and I also wanted to get root. I think part of my mistake was I wiped data/factory reset before I flashed AP. Any help would be much appreciated, as I have been at this for the past five hours. I added some info below that might help below. Thanks
- I cannot boot into recovery and get the message (Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again)
- CP is the only thing that will flash and CSC also fails
- model number is g900a AT&T
- I have used Odin 3.10.7 and 3.09, but no luck
